So I found a piece of orange chest armor in my storage, its armor rating was 32 I added an armor plate with an armor rating of 34 to it and it increased the armor value of the chest armor to 177. How can you tell how much the increase will be in armor rating before you install it?

Okay, I understand now. Thanks guys, I had search around the GTN to see if I could find another item that would install into that slot but I never thought to type "augment" into the search field. So you can however add armoring to certain equipment if it is orange or purple in color correct?

First off thanks for the replies but I am still confused. When I add a Mk-1 Aug kit to a piece of armor (in my case a green one) the augmented slot is NOT for adding armor? If I can't add armoring to this slot what can I add because the kit installed onto the armor.

What am I missing? I purchased a Mk-1 Aug Kit installed it onto a piece of green armor. I tried using a armoring mod from a vendor as well as one I crafted on a low level cyber tech (skill armoring 2) it was called and neither will work. I searched around here on the forums and found nothing that's helps. In many posts I read folks saying that there is a "tooltip" displaying what mods work with what level aug kits and what not but I have yet to find this on either item while hovering my mouse over it. I know I am just missing a piece of the puzzle somewhere
