  1. teamwork is usually the best bet. the only time you really need to race off the cap ship is at the start. when respawning, take a second to look at the minimap, see where your teammates are headed and tag along. the gunship's Ion Railgun is the single best weapon to clear out a cluster of mines, drones & enemies. fire off a couple of fully charged shots against a turret or drone and you'll shred the shields and drain the power of the nubs huddled underneath the sat.
  2. i'd like the leaderboard to default to Total Damage rather than Kills. i don't get twisted up by someone else "stealing" my kill. they're an enemy and they're now dead. this is a good thing. one change I'd like to see in the battle record is the KDR changed to Kills+Assists:Deaths.
  3. tdm? damage overcharge powerup + crit would do it.
  4. i like it just as it is tyvm. with a set of laser cannons hanging off the sides, it just looks sweet. kinda like a BSG raider.
  5. you're being hit at least twice. you may have been nailed by an ion railgun right before a slug crit and not noticed. you have not been one-shot.
  6. blackbolt all the way. i'd like a second one so I can have two loadouts.
  7. +1. some kind of multiplayer tutorial would be a boon for helping nubs. (pst: built-in VOIP would also be a boon)
  8. yeah, pretty much. although perhaps Bombers are more Barbarian or possibly Druid than Cleric? Very powerful on their own turf. and us 1ed veterans are harrumphing over 'rogue' instead of 'thief' or even 'acrobat'.
  9. yeah, i wasn't going to go there. that quote has been taken somewhat radically out of context in this instance.
  10. i'm suffering severe cognitive dissonance at your choice of quotes from The Art Of War. Aren't you the one advocating people rage-quit if they come up against pre-mades?
  11. i'm aware that DPS is per second. pre 2.6: rockets did >400 damage a shot, today, it's just shy of 300. 25% damage nerf per shot and no increase in rate of fire. if it sounds like a nerf and looks like a nerf, it's probably a nerf.
  12. i'm finding TDM a lot more fun than Domination. which is odd as I like objective based game modes. the weapon power-ups are awesome to reload my rocket pods.
  13. i think the best advice is: keep playing. for the record, my build: Blackbolt. laser cannon (play around with t4/5 to find what suits you) rocky pods (extra ammo & plasma) targeting telemetry take the (debuff + increased crit) barrel roll (speed) distortion field (missile lock) dampening sensors power thrusters frequency capacitor. Co-Pilot: I went concentrated fire with Lt Pierce. (Conc Fire + Targeting Telemetry = molten opponent) I took the 13% engines & blaster efficiency dude in Engineering (can't recall name). I sometimes swap Booster Recharge in for TT and switch the thrusters for Speed.
  14. this. i have 2 chars with all ships, mastered scout & gunny on both. no way i'll re-roll.
  15. i must be the odd one out. i'm forever using beacons when I see they've been placed. i popped out of one the other night and just started letting rip with an Ion railgun. got off 6 or so shots with lots of lovely AOE without moving.
  16. in any event, damage has been nerfed HARD on rocky pods. from 400'ish a shot down to 250'ish a shot. they do less damage than my laser cannons now.
  17. i think the balance on rockets was better pre 2.6.
  18. Pre 2.6, rocket pods were a decently balanced, if slightly underpowered, weapon that rewarded the player skillful enough to land their shots. post 2.6, Rocket Pods feel like an additional laser bolt every now and again. I understand that all weapons with shield piercing had their damage reduced, but I feel this is a little bit of overkill on Rocket Pods. c'mon, a slow firing, 50-shot weapon with a horrific tracking penalty doing ~250'ish damage a shot? at the very least give it a base 25% crit chance.
  19. Blackbolt. As well as being the most fun to fly, with lasers mounted on it, i reckon it looks pretty sweet. kinda like a BSG Raider.
  20. +1. I still enjoy GSF and I hope future patch balances will bring back the fun. But boy, what numbskull thought bombers would be a good idea? at the very least, let us alter components in-match. going in blind is getting annoying.
  21. remove cap-ship cannons altogether, add more spawn-points and auto-spawn at any point without an enemy <20km?
  22. the "attack in a pack" thing is simply a byproduct of A: sticking together and B: hitting TAB when your current target is destroyed. i'd like to see A: a 'Wingman" feature (you designate yourself as 'wingman' to a teammate. you get a second 'targeting window' showing stats on your "lead" and a green arrow on the HUD pointing at your 'lead') and B: built in VOIP (opt-in with ignore functions etc)
  23. for Harbinger, I'll nominate Willie on 'Pub side. A rare gunship pilot that doesn't coward back to the cap ships! (at least, he's never done that to me).
  24. +1,001. pretty much all the top pilots are hoping some of the nubs stuck with GSF long enough to give them a run for their money. everyone prefers a 990-1000 scoreline to a 1-1000 scoreline.
  25. I feel compelled to respond. True. False. The ability to form premades is equally shared by both factions. False. Again, getting 12 players with mastered ships together in a premade is available to Imperial players too. False. The ability to save up requisition is available to both factions equally. I mastered the EMP Field System ability on a Blackbolt within minutes of 2.6 launching with saved up requisition. False. I have to ask, do YOU contact the other good Imp pilots on your server and group with them? Do YOU make any effort to organise your own premade squads? If the answer to either of those is 'No' then you, sir, are a whinger.
