  1. Okay... So let me see. Five minute time limit, so you're sacrificing uptime to heal yourself up, vs the instant heal to full juggs.

Not to mention counters to sap-heal

    -aoe taunt

-save cc break (anyone who's one v one'd a stealther should know this by now)

    -aoe mez

    -aoe damage (if timed well)

    Counters to jugg heal

-mez (scratch that if you have dots up), only good for use on one of their self-heals

    -run away and stop dpsing

    k.

  2. A functional dot spread would change the class completely. The damage is there, its the number of CD's you need to go through to get it. The ramp up time just isn't worth it when you can't even switch targets without needing to completely re-start your rotation.

ie bioware give whirling blow dot spread to ops pls.

  3. Lethality is one of the higher parsing specs. The roles were reversed in 3.x with Concealment parsing higher. In either case they had/have higher parses on parsley than Sorcs. Sure it has a lack luster AOE but ST is far more important as there is no fight outside of possible NiM Draxus that has a lot of adds that is a tight DPS check. On Cora HM no one cares about your AOE as your focusing only 1 target at a time.

Or is this about PvP. If so, What is PeeVeePee?

I would assume the original complaint was made in regards to PVP as that is the only place I have heard people complaining about sorcs. It wouldn't be surprising if healers got a nerf at the very least, maybe something with madness, but I wouldn't put to much stock in it. Just because someone whines something should happen on the forums doesn't mean anything will actually change. Classes get buffed and nerfed as the seasons come and go, sometimes totally at random it seems.

  4. Tonight I continually got the C1 error when trying to play SWTOR. After restarting my computer the issue went away, until I went into a warzone where the framerate suddenly dropped to <2fps. So, I restarted the game again, where after about two minutes my character was immobilized, not from lag, everyone else was moving around me and I was receiving chat messages, so I relogged. The next time I tried I could not retrieve server lists, then began getting connected then dropped from the server (Ebon Hawk) repeatedly.

And now it just crashed to desktop; officially finishing my attempts for the night.

Have never had any issues running swtor on my PC prior to tonight.

  5. I am trying to understand your take on the spec... I don't get it. First of all, you can't say it's not a dot spec at the same time mention that the spec uses 2 dots as part of their damage/burst rotation. The spec also gets a dot that the others do not, and it gets a (useless) dot spread mechanic, specifically to spread dots... How is this spec not a dot spec?

Also, if the burst and dots of this class were so effective at killing "squishy" targets that would be fine too, you are saying that this spec actually should focus on less squishy targets, so, like tanks, or what? Most of the squishier targets are the ones you want dead asap, skipping them to find harder targets to kill makes no sense to me. In pvp, the faster you kill a target the better, squishy or not.

This class doesn't really kill any targets fast, and that's where it needs some improvement IMO. Either stronger dots, or more damage attached to their burst with brutal shots. And, the dot spread mechanic needs to be revamped it's really useless as it stands.

Ruffian's damage doesn't come from it's dots the way it would other dot specs (ie serenity shadow or maddness sorc). People call it whichever they like but if you look at where the damage comes from on most parses, it's hard to justify it as a dot spec in comparison to others.

    Ruffian:

    Hatred Assassin:

Dots specs have a ramp up of fluffy damage for a dot that hits hard, ruffians have fluff dots for an instant ability that hits hard. If you're going to say that any class that requires a dot to maximizes performance is a dot spec you would also have to include scrapper and telekinetic sage.

I've been playing only op-equivalent of ruffian for the past few weeks (only in pvp) and really love it. Hardly as gimped as I originally though, it seems that 2.x has scared everyone off it even more then balance shadow did. The ramp up is a bit of a pain, especially as the payoff isn't much better than what concealment/scrapper gets straight after opening, but unless you're getting super focused but multiple players its pretty easy to stay alive in 8v8. That said our dot spread is the most stupid ability in game, which hurts as the 25% bonus damage utility seems to have been made for this spec in particular. I think I may have successfully spread my corrosive dart all of 4 times due to aiming and people generally not clustering together often enough in pvp. It needs to be fixed or switched to fragmentation grenade or something. As for not picking squishy targets, I prefer to find ones that not everyone is bursting down, if 4 of your teammates are on a player it's going to melt faster than you can get your debuffs up for an effective CA. Ops don't have an execute ability either (no counting the 15% boost on our barely tickling dots), so ideally you're only opening on player with >30% health, unless no one else if focusing them. If you get a good group that can switch targets it works out really well.

A damage boost to corrosive grenade wouldn't be totally uncalled for; and honestly I would like to see it bolstered in someway (maybe make it the dot spread for dart?) and put on a sort 3-4 second cd. The off-heals are nice, but will always be second to any dps sorc. A buff for dps scoundrels/ops that immediately puts 2 kolto-probs on the player rather than using 2 gcd's for some very minimal healing would be fantastic, even if it was only when activated on themselves but unlikely to ever happen.

  6. -snippity-

It's still distasteful, and unbecoming when one truly feels superior to others based on this false sense of power they have. Sure, a little **** talking is fun, but it's good to have some humility and recognize there are better players out there and always will be.

    -snippity-

Good job. I laughed, you're funny.

    Whist is a fun person.

Now, teach me to shadow tank, pls.

    pls.

  7. On an assassin, refer to burst spec if his stealth is on CD, if Stealth is off CD, go **** yourself, you blew your FD and there is nothing you can do about it.

    Teehee.

But if you're super quick you can try and aoe taunt as soon as the shadow/sin pops stealth. This keeps them in combat and unable to mez. Can let you try to locate them or at least buy some time for Focused/Enraged Defense to do it's job/reinforcements to reach you. Aoe mez can work to if you want to waste it on a 'maybe'.

Fullproof? Not even a little bit. But grasping at straws > clutching skull in shame while opponent /dances in front of you.

Oh and forcelift/whirlwind has reduced activation time. So rule for fighting shadow/sin; always have cc break off CD.

Now; counter to FD/ED for DoT specs that doesn't involve trying to run away while tears are collected in a jar, plz&thanx.

  8. The good pubs like mwa are sitting in chairs eating mcnuggets watching this play out

    Sting

I don't got nuggets. Guess I'm not as much of a pub-pro as Sting :jawa_redface:

Will stop watching and re-log if people are serious about solo-ranked tonight.

Lets be real. Grouped isn't happening at this rate.

  9. Trying to put this back on-topic before it gets shut-down as I like the idea.

But I'm probably not the only person in a situation where I'm not sure if the rest of my guild wants/is geared to do ranked and don't feel comfortable signing them all up with GM away. Are any specific times/week days planned for this? Or specific channels we should be watching, such as the underused /enemies channel rather then constantly going back to the fleet to check the PVP chat?

Especially pub side as both pvp guilds are pretty difficult to find in /who :p

  10. Hi so tried out the new balance-shadow changes this morning and looks good from the small time I tried so far, but not the point. It seems that if I apply my DoTs and then die, I remain in combat on res, and remain that way until (I'm assuming this is what it is anyways) my DoTs wear off. Never experienced this in pvp before this patch, and can be frustrating for a stealth-class. Working as intended? Bug? Or just me?
  11. So true op. It's so unfair that snipers have to roll (and actually get up if roll is on cool-down *GASP*) when pesky melee won't stay at the 45-meter range. In fact it doesn't make much sense that other classes can see my sniper when she's ducked behind cover. Cover should just be and invisible-impenetrable box that auto-attacks with nuclear pulses at any player within 80-meter-radius for 75k damage a piece.

    ;)

    /sarcasm

In honesty, yes snipers may need a slight survivibility buff in 4v4 (regs are fine) but what your describing doesn't make sense. And your mourning the loss of 45-meter-instant-group-mez, and complaining about counters to sorc-bubble makes me think you haven't really tried the other ranged classes.

  12. My spec won't mark you as a tank, it's meant to be dual-purpose depending on your group composition. You can either stay in surging charge and put out the same damage as a full decep (hence the points in surging, which aren't totally wasted in dark charge btw), or use dark charge for guard and still put out really good dps. Most of the time I'm dark charge using a focus, unless I'm getting tunneled then I'll swap for a shield. Force management isn't easy in extended fights, you have to really be watching your procs, which is why impose weakness is so beneficial to this spec imo.

What use do induction, saber conduit, and electric ambush have while in dark charge? That's six talent points, seven if you include the one for surging charge (that I understand as it's need to progress in the tree). Another four points wasted in lightning reflexes and lighting recovery as you can't shield an attack if you don't have a shield equipped. As for switching your shield in when you get tunneled? You're not getting tunneled if you have time to change equipment. And again, a shield is worthless without dark ward. There is nothing in your build that would make you a better 'tank' than the current favorite 0/31/15 in dark charge would be. Except possibly charge mastery but 9% damage reduction wile wearing light armor does not make you a tank. It just decreases your damage output, including discharge, your hardest hitting ability which is gutted when switching to darkcharge. There's a reason sin's don't off-tank.

Deception sins weren't built for extended fights, and most fights in pvp aren't. If you're in one for whatever reason and running out of force? Blackout. Still fighting and again out of force? Force cloak for a few seconds. Still? Blackout again. If you're not dead or haven't won by that point the problem is with your rotation, not regeneration.

  13. No, if you use that in arenas it will mark you as a tank, which is one of the most appealing reasons to use hybrids. I use this http://www.torhead.com/skill-calc#200McrkzZfrcRzGbRrbzZz.3, but I know a few sins who take blood of sith and it works as well.

Lightning reflexes give force back too :p I just can't imagine ever running out, low maybe, but not enough to sacrifice three talent points. (I'll repeat here. I'm not by any means the best. I consider myself somewhere between a mediocre and good sin/shadow player.). Anyways; wouldn't being marked as a tank be bad unless you're running full tank gear?. At least on my server tank<37k hp=burn tank to kill the guard.

For yours, is lightning reflexes at all useful without dark ward? If you're equipping a shield you're losing a quite a bit of damage, and not mitigating much without it activating it. And why put so many points into surging charge abilities as well as swelling shadows and energize? :sul_confused:

  14. Tried it my own variation before, didn't like it. But a lot of people who are much better then me probably use it and excel.

That said I don't see the reason for three points in blood of the sith? You already have dark-swell, dark-embrace, deceptive power, fade, and maul proc. If that really isn't enough two points in electrify would reduce more force-cost and if you put a point in madness tree would mark you as a dps in arenas (no sure if this spec will mark you as tank or not).

Edit: Also without impose weakness, maul proc only has 30% chance to be useful every 15 seconds. So I feel I can correct you when you say you can 'maul to your hearts content'. Especially people who hate constant proc watching, which would be most. (:

  15. Agreed, still makes you wonder what goes through the monkey brains at the wheel.

I get the Sin/Shadow Madness/Balance tree isn't were it should be for PvE dps and adjustment be in order.

Still it is a bit of another FU to their counterpart... That's what I find as bs. How about a addition to the Leth/DF tree making dots uncleansable? ^_~

Sins/shadows are not counterparts to ops/drells.

Dirty-fighting/leath damage does not come from DoTs. DoT's only serve as fluff to feed wounding shots/cull.

Mad/Balance isn't where is needs to be for anything, it has been in the toilet for over a year.

Go roll a madness sin, you sound ridiculous.

  16. Hi Sentinels!

With the up-coming buffs to watchman spec, I've taken my very dusty sent of the shelf and have been doing my best to melt, or at least slightly-thaw, others between pesky cleanses. But I've run into a difficult decision while playing. Is master strike worth it?

It hits so wonderfully hard, but can it be considered it that useful when it's so touchy and cuts into rotation-times? The sticky guide was great, but was more pve oriented in this matter, while I'm looking at pvp. In warzones it's even less likely to get off an entire MS with all the speeds, stuns, pulls, knock backs ect. Not even getting into the reduction of taunts/guards. That and the priority of merciless slash/cauterize. With full stacks of merciless, it's cool-down would end sooner (assuming the caut-proc) then master strike channel + GCD would finish, but dropping master strike at that point would make is useless (missing out on that sweet, sweet final tick). With such a focus-starved spec is it better to try and use this very-delicate, free(possibly even granting focus)/high-damage move and cut into some of my priority 'rotation' or to do other, shorter filler in addition to z-strike/forceleap?

Obviously there is a time and place for all things in pvp, I'm just wondering how much of, if it is, a 'priority' and how-often most of you keep it on cool-down in a 'standard' fight.

  17. The game wants you to finish the animation of standing up, thus you can't move. That's how all kinds of knockdowns work.

If you use your breaker on a knockdown, you still can't move for a few seconds cause well, you need to finish the "animation".

This is a debated topic, I've been told it's wrong and if you press a movement key and break at the same time it skips the animation, could never make it work so gave up wasting the break on knockdowns after trying a few times. Anyways, that's not what he's saying. By the time He's leapt at the animation should be finished and he's just standing (with a root). In the tank-sin tree (only one I can think of) there's a talent that removes all snares/roots when force speed is activated. Yet, when he hits FS (not cc breaker) he is still rooted. Don't think I've experienced this though.

Which talent are you referring to? The sin-tank or healer sorc? The healer sorc talent will not break roots/snares, only prevents them from being applied you while FS is active. Or it could be a split second of lag, leaps are glitchy like that.
