  1. Curses! I decided that Seleali would finally take the consideration that as the Empire took officially the side to help the Alliance while the Republic didn't, that shows more capacity from the Empire to think of the whole galaxy, even if it's just self serving reasons, and also that it's produced Acina in power and Lana Beniko as two shows of hope. Plus I get her to take the thought the Republic may be quite weaker than the Empire. Then: Empire can be expected to think of the prosperity of the whole galaxy more than the Republic, joining the Republic might be equalizing strengths and keep the war going, joining the Empire may be the final push for the war to end with a winner, even if it's the Empire. Fighting the evil Empire as the Republic has been an endless war. Letting the war end with an Empire win may be a better chance to fight the evil Empire in the long run, seeking to use the reasonability of Acina, Lana and any other "soft" siths that there may be, to slowly work on moving from the Evil Empire into the Empire that turned into decent Republic. Minor spoiler as this is said right after I clicked to support the Empire: "with your high profile this means sabotage, the death of your former allies". But that feels wrong. While obviously working from within the Republic for an Empire victory would imply a good deal of betrayal, she wouldn't do so by way of murder or augmenting the death toll in battles. That line makes me think there might be a number of quests involving murder this or that person who considers you an ally or perhaps even friend. But you know, Bioware has a reputation for good story telling, so I think I will trust them into giving the choice to go Empire from within the Republic but be able to refuse the more nefarious methods and go for more bloodless ways. And that if she refuses everything and ends helping the Republic because what is asked of her proves any of her hopes wrong, in 6.0 there will be her getting to be an honest part of the Republic again with added quests where the Empire tries to end her or something.
  2. Yeah, I know, but IIRC the fact both Empire and Republic went in with the same trigger and who arrived first was just accidental is revealed some time after the start of the Iokath storyline, so before that she'd get the thought Republic initiated since it arrived first. What I'm not sure is whether that revelation happens before or after the faction choice is given.
  3. Key question: is this faction choice the final one or will we have a chance to reselect when 6.0 comes? Please, no 5.10 spoilers. SPOILERS FOR PREVIOUS STUFF Well... I was excited for this. I loaded the game, went to talk to Lana and then she just tells me to pick, out of the blue. No background on what have been the recent goings over either faction. And I can't choose. In Iokath there was a bit of background. The events of KOTET would still be close, but even without that, I was informed there was a conflict in which the Republic went in first in search of a superweapon and the Empire followed, perhaps both tricked by a third party. So both combined or just the last was enough that, with a heavy heart, my light sided councilor would decide to align with the Empire. She is the leader of the Allianca (and I missed or don't know what about Zakuul, what happened with it? I guess she'd have handed it to the Zakuulean faction that sided with her?) and she takes it serious that she must lead it as something far bigger than herself, bigger than being a jedi, bigger than feeling a part of the Republic. So I feel she would never choose, she couldn't choose a faction beforehand. She'd need something to happen to tip her to either side, whichever would be better for the Allianca and the Universe. So taking her pick before any side does anything that requires a response to make her decisions wouldn't be her. She'd just state: the Alliance was created to fight as one against Zakuul and it shall remain neutral as much and as long as it is possible. And therefore, she would only take a side when there would be a clear aggressor faction in defence of the aggraviated one. Whatever each faction wast. That is why she sided with the Empire in Iokath. Even if in the end both were after a superweapon that might be used to wipe the other faction, there was the confirmed fact the Republic had gone first for it, as such it was the Republic the first in moving in the direction that would mean restarting the war. Therefore, as the leader of a faction that represents a push for unification and neutrality, she had to decide to help the Empire. But now the conflict over Iokath was solved, right? And she got busy saving everyone over the traitor thing. So things were supposedly sort of in balance, even if it was easy to know it wouldn't be a very stable balance, with the Alliance greatly weakened. Now that does give sense to what Lana says. The Alliance can't fight both sides alone, it needs to take a side. Considering the long history, it is also evident that neither Empire nor Republic will be willing to accept or understand if the Alliance would pick a side per conflict that originated, and both would take the Alliance as a declared enemy upon the first conflict in which the Alliance sided with the enemy. That much is clear and so I think it's good and fine that Lana comes out with that. But the only reply I can feel true to my character is "let's not get ahead of ourselves, we'll need to pick once a conflict arises, until then the Alliance must strive to keep neutral and act as a third faction that the other two may see as neutral and that could be accepted to reach more peaceful solutions to conflicts than open war". Then obviously it happens and she needs to pick a side. After all, if there was no conflict to fight in there wouldn't be any more game. So what do we have that I know/remember? It would be nice to find a thread or video stating where is the galaxy at the point before talking to Lana. At the end of the traitor storyline it's mentioned that there are growing tensions between Republic and Empire, there was open fighting over Iokath; but mostly the Iokath affair has ended and so the decisions from that don't necessarily carry weight any more. After all, there were growing tensions that might lead to a war at the end of the Chiss thing, so Empire and Republic didn't escalate Iokath to a full scale war and even you could say that sort of fizzled out as a conflict. Then my jedi's decision should be based on new events, new information. What she knows or thinks she knows: - What is Acina up to? She sided with the Empire and cilled Malcom. Acine is alive for her. Acina seemed like a strong and decent enough sith to hope she might take the Empire away from extreme evil and closer to a position of reasonable enmity with the jedi that might lead to a point of peace from which the galaxy might be able to reunite and have the sith eventually absorbed somehow. Still very unlikely, but a better chance than with old emperors. At least she did help the Alliance fight Zakuul. - The Republic didn't help fight Zakuul. Those who enlisted for the Alliance from the Republic did so on their own initiative and contrary to Republic orders. Also the former Chancellor of the Republic, who at some point was said to have the actual power of the Republic, instead backstabbed the Alliance trying to kill its commander to take over her leadership. - In Iokath the Republic went first to get the superweapon and the Empire can claim, whatever extent of truth that may hold, to have gone after to defend itself. Sure, the Republic can say "we went to get it just to make sure the Empire didn't have it, not to use it", but Malcom acts and speaks as if the Republic did intend to do so, though he may have known something more (if I remember correctly, since that is a bit hazy in memory). - Personally, my jedi would feel far more connection and affinity to the Republic and the jedi. If she joins the Empire, wouldn't so many sith hate her guts, regardless of her past help in Iokath or whatever she did simply because she's a jedi? Even a strongly light sided one? Would she really be able to exert any influence at all to help pushing the sith towards a more greyish, pragmatical stance that could facilitate peace? But if she sided with the Republic, would they forgive her alignment with the Empire in Iokath? Wouldn't there be a risk of Republic factions seeking to destroy her, avenge Malcom? Why would the Republic refuse to see the Alliance as anything else than an enemy in future conflicts if it already aligned with the Empire in Iokath and isn't already counted as Empire aligned? And if the Republic can see the Alliance as not enemy after Iokath, why wouldn't it after a new conflict? Only if a future conflict would be much bigger and over more fundamental issues than Iokath, but she is not aware of anything like that at the point when Lana asks her to pick a side. - At the end of the traitor story line, besides forgiving Theron she also told him she'd feel more inclined towards the Republic... but can that be reason enough to now side with the Republic? Wouldn't that be way too flimsy a motive? Tititirititirirititit (text as in Tom Clancy/Le Carré movies) Odessen, Alliance base. The Commander meets Lana. They talk. The Commander curls into a ball "I CAN'T DECIDE", Lana shakes her "YOU MUST DECIDE! NOW!". "WHYYYYYY?!" "BECAUSE PREPARATION IS HALF THE BATTLE AND I WANT TO KNOW IF I CAN KEEP DATING THAT HOT IMPERIAL SERGEANT OR I¡LL GOT TO KILL HIM". Commander throws a temper tantrum. The Commander has a vision. "The Ewoks will side with the Republic". She immediately snaps out of it: "FOR THE EMPIRE! KILL ALL THE EWOKS!!!". Seriously. I just can't choose. I don't feel any of the two make sense and I feel no matter which I pick I'll feel dissatisfied. Perhaps I have to park the character and make another my main and wait until I can make my mind or get through this with another character, see what's the start like and get back to her considering as if she decides when the news come of whatever has happened. But the problem is the other two level 70 characters I have one is still in KOTFE, doing the mid difficulty chapters, the third level 70 is waiting to start the hard modes and the next is just about to begin Shadow of Revan expansion.
  4. Yeah, I think the issue is that before they were actually bugged, they're now unbugged it and hence some cool colours have been lost. I'd say it'd be fair to offer a free colour change to that hairstyle or something for the cases like the OP not to have them waste CCs on a bug that shouldn't have been there in the first place.
  5. I got "couldn't retrieve patch info" error in the loader, leaving the start button greyed out. In a second try I can get to launch the game... I get to the server selection screen... then to the character selection...and then into the game as it's loading on to the area I left my character.
  6. I looked at conquest for Iokath missions/objectives. There is one that says complete any daily mission. Every time I complete a daily mission I get the message I've completed that objective; but when I go to the conquest window it appears as incomplete.
  7. Update: I had the latest graphic drivers. I updated DX9 from the link SWTOR Central provided in his video and it wasn't the official one. Over redit I was sent to the official download, I got that and installed and now the issues are fixed. Only barely noticeable hitches here and there when in the fleet, but they're also quite rare and as said, barely noticeable.
  8. Btw, apologies for brain fart, I forgot to tell my system specs #bigwhoops. CPU Intel i7-4770, 8GB RAM. GPU AMD ATI Radeon R9 270X 2GB VRAM GDDR5 OS: Windows 10 64-bits v1709 There's also a chance it's caused by an update in the graphic drivers as I'm thinking there was one shortly before I forgot I applied. Also an outdated Firefox version that started to make trouble once it was two 0.x versions behind the current as always that seems at times to take too much memory. Once I thought it may have been caused by SWTOR update 5.9 but I think I began experiencing it a few days before. There's also the point that the AMD control center I suspect doesn't detect availability of updates well, unless it's AMD not following a rational consecutive numbering for each new version, so I guess I'll have to go to their web to download the actual latest drivers and see if that helps, will be back with the updates to that later.
  9. I was getting pissed off at warzones and thought it might be performance issues. I saw SWTOR central's video from a few months ago saying that you could get an improvement installing DX9. I used the link, I don't know yet how PvP is as I've not tried again yet; but in some areas, specially the fleet, the stutter is really bad. What can I do?
  10. Deleting that file worked. The old was over 1GB size and so is the new one. Thanks all for your replies.
  11. I knew Iresso was going to come in this expansion, so when I saw the talk with Arcann would make for an excellent sitcom situation I decided to postpone it until after getting Iresso. Now I find Iresso is in the same Area, Arcann is nowhere in it and I get pulled into the Arcann talk every three steps. I don't want to talk to Arcann before talking to Iresso and you're not letting me, at this pace it will be three hours to see if it's even possible, because I don't rule out yet clicking on Iresso will still trigger Arcann. Er, when I close the convo it sends me back to the very same spot I was, goddammit. Abandoning Arcann mission is the only way, now I have to remember to check alerts.
  12. Not always, the game seems to hang when closing down. I've not identified anything particular done as to suggest any idea of any possible cause. Perhaps it's having Firefox 55 still on? I'm not updating it as several addons that I use aren't supported by later versions, the 56 working like crap.
  13. In ziost I usually do a cycle through the dailies. There is a mission I deliver at the end, one in which I have to use a table indoors back in the base to deliver the info to either Galactic Command (light choice) or sell for credits to somebody (dark choice). I get stuck with the dialog icon over my character's head and I have to log out and then back to finish that. I believe it happens because of the mission granted by a datapad by a road that sends you into an instance area to reconstruct the past (the mission's name is something like that). I remember years ago if you left an instanced area through quicktravle you had to log out and back because you then couldn't interact with it, I wonder if that's some off product of that that has not been removed yet? Though I did them once with a second character and I didn't need to do it. Perhaps it's something with kinetic combat shadow class? Or jedi knight is the one free of it?
  14. I think finding them after mounting or using rocket booster, perhaps if they attack the companion, may make it more likely but doesn't cause it. A few times I've found invisible enemies I couldn't target or do nothing, I saw the red dot in the map, I was in combat, the companion was attacking it and that's how it was killed. But I once experienced it in Hammer Station with a full group, no companions.
  15. Thanks for the answers. So the "You can get her without need to meet requirements getting these achievements before 28th January or you can meet her normally through a mission" was in reality "you need to do this before 28th so you can get a chance to get the mission to have her". Wonderful.
