  1. All opinions on all updates aside, can we take a moment and say holy motherclucking waddling ducks SWTOR makes good trailers. Even the new 5.10 trailer played out better than most trailers professional production companies make. I could compare this trailer to the "Aquaman" trailer as well as many other A list trailers and easily rate it higher. So, as the title says, kudos to the SWTOR Trailer team, you're the unsung heroes of the SWTOR community <3
  2. Very well written posts by many people here.

I have seen many people on fleet chat saying "wtb all your charged matter 1.x mil" as a form of investment. I personally believe this is very wise, because we all know that those will likely / will be a main mat for crafting said top tier gear. When people start getting schematics for this gear, the demand for CMTs will skyrocket, thus by laws of economics causing the cost to rise and farmers like those fleet chatters very rich, therefore enabling them to purchase said crafted gear on GTN with the money invested. A solid plan

The difficulty I am having with this whole update is that I get about five total hours (max) of playtime each week due to the life I live. That being said, there is not much intriguing about this update to myself and players that relate to my situation. The story, as far as I can tell, seems like another bland side quest line that really just opens up the opportunity to add another planet and with that another grind system. And with five (during a good week) precious hours to play this game a week, spending them grinding just to keep up is sadly unappealing. The devs need to go back to the root reason of why people originally played this game: To be immersed in a Star Wars universe and live the dreams they had growing up. I didn't swing around a plastic lightsaber as a child thinking "Wow! I would love to spend fifty hours working towards getting a lightsaber just like this one but that pokes a little more!" But I digress. My point is, solid immersive stories that build upon the family that is our class's crew and our class itself are far more valuable than any new shiny gear set. As many have said before and will say again: experiences are something more valuable than all of the riches in the world.

  3. Sort of the way SoR handled the class stories on Rishi but then on a monthly basis and each month would release 1 class story chapter. I like that idea! That way we could get back individual class stories and get regular story updates, namely monthly. I like it!

Not a bad idea. Like others have said, the class stories have stood the test of time comparatively speaking. No other story, other than the dread masters, has really done that.

Personally, maybe an 8 month sequence where each month they release a new classes' continued story would be nice. That way it's a controlled and steady release, which the current devs seem to like, while satisfying our desire to have more class content.

  4. The only thing that has really held up over the years in swtor IMHO are the class stories.

I'd like to see that kind of design return to the game.

I agree 100%. Opinions on the expansions differ, but class stories are loved by all. In order to revitalize this game and bring it to glory again, they need to go back to their roots and build on what everyone originally loved about this game :)

  5. One important thing for me is a choice to be able to return to our original faction. Not as an ally, but as a full member of our original faction just like we were pre-KotFE. Preferably my toons would even return to their former positions, my Sith Inquisitors coming to sit on the Dark Council again, my Sith Warriors coming to serve as Acina's or Vowrawn's Wrath (especially I'd love them to serve Vowrawn as I adore that character), my Jedi Consulars becoming Bar'senthor again and so on and so forth. That's a major thing I'd want from the future storyline of SWTOR. As for other stuff I'd like to see in future story content...

    1. A deep dive into the Chiss lore. I really want to see more of the Chiss Ascendancy even their planets becoming explorable and involved in the story. I'd especially want a Chiss-focused storyline on Csilla, that's something I have been hoping for for years.

    2. More storylines that involve the older and more ancient lore of both the Jedi Order and the Sith, especially around the era of the Great Hyperspace War.

    3. More hidden secrets that pop up about Valkorion/Vitiate, displaying how dark and twisted he was. Like maybe dangerous artifacts he may have created or perhaps his very own holocron.

    4. A storyline tied to Darth Traya, maybe a cult or something that in their twisted view of her teachings believe the Force can and has to be destroyed by creating echoes throughout the galaxy that would eventually deafen everyone to the Force. That's a storyline I'd really love to see and play through.

    .

YESYESYES! Everything you just said would be so interesting! The Chiss have such a backstory to them, and I think there is enough story out there about the Old Republic that the fans don't want new content, they want a deeper dive into the old, less developed stories close to our hearts :D 10/10 on your ideas

  6. Hey all! I've heard a few opinions from people on where they would like the game to go, and I just wanted to hear some more. Where would you like to see SWTOR go in it's storylines?

In the future, my personal desire would probably be to have singular storylines to pursue with our favorite companions, as well as individual continuations of class stories. An expansion including the fleshing out of stories such as Mako's cloning story, or Kira's sith story, and all the other ones; and how their past comes back to haunt them would be really interesting, as well as a continuation of class stories in a new and refreshing light. Bringing back the individualization and personal value of each class is something sorely needed, and I think it would bring back a lot of vanilla players that left some time ago.

That's my two cents, but I am REALLLLY interested in where the SWTOR fanbase would like the game to go. What's something that you've always dreamed about being in SWTOR, or where you want to game to go?

  7. Personally, I liked the concept of the two factions banding together to defeat a galactic invasion force. We saw it in the EU with the Yuuzhan Vong, and I loved the powers that Valkorian had. He made Palpatine look like a cuddly little puppy in comparison to himself :D . The storyline was pretty grindy, as was the command rank system, but it's been out for over a year now so most of us have at least one command rank 300 character that can provide gear to other alts through legacy gear (I.E. a rank 300 imm jugg share gear with a tank guardian alt)

As for the companion loss concept, there isn't a whole lot positive I can say about it. I would have much rather done that whole story line with my favorite comps, allowing their characters to be fleshed out more, and the bond between vanilla comps and players to grow. Instead, I felt that I had been disconnected from those people that my younger self loved, and began to stop caring about them. That was definitely very frustrating.

With Nathema Conspiracy, I was slightly disappointed, but the end definitely offered me hope. It kinda took the entire KOTFE and KOTET story line and threw it out, starting everyone back from square one. I did, however, like the choices it provided at the end. I won't spoil it, but that part definitely made me happy.

All in all the KOTFE and KOTET storyline could have definitely been done better, but hindsight is always 20/20 as they say. Opinions aside, it was a well written and rounded storyline that was long enough to satisfy those that desired another story of galactic conflict. I'm glad that the devs are back on track (relatively) with the Jedi and Sith wars that we players so love, and the coming expansion looks bright.

But as the title of this thread says, I would like to add myself to the list of people who didn't hate KOTFE and KOTFE. It wasn't the greatest, but definitely not hateable.

  8. YOOOOOOOOOOOOOO BW GIVE US MAKO BACK ALREADY! Personally, BH was the first class I rolled, thus making Mako my first romanced comp. WE BHs LOVE HER AND WE GET WHO? GAULT? AS ONE OF THE FIRST ONES BACK? GGGGGGrrrrrrrr give me my deadly cute asian sidekick back, im saltyyyyyyyy.

Anyways, as the title states this is a Mako appreciation thread. What's your favorite thing about her? Fav moment, laugh, or anything in general, as well as your opinion on her. Because honestly, we as a community need to run a 500 man raid on BW Headquarters and break her out of KOTFE prison... But until then all we Mako lovers have is this thread to keep us busy :D

  9. Ok so I mainly am a tank. After seeing and trying a few different tanks, Immortal Juggernaut has to be my favorite. Not sure how it pans out in NM's as I don't run those, but that's my personal opinion.

GEARING: 5.10 new gear is coming out, and a full set is going to cost ~500mil total just due to mat costs, so I would start saving credits now.

Hope this helps in some way :)

  10. Wassup yall,

So I'm back after about a year of being off. When I left, I had finally gotten full 248 gear for one of my two 70s (imm jugg), and now I hear Tier 5 gear is coming out. My crafting skills kinda suck too, in that my only mastered crafting is armstech and the aug market is trash right now (costs two charged matter to make 236 mod, on gtn mats cost 1.5m each, and augs cost 2m. Illogical and broken.) So that brings me to my main question:

Q: How should I best prepare for the new tier of gear?

I don't have an armor creating crew skill, and if only crafters can make it I know they're going to make prices on GTN ridiculously high. So what's the best way to do this? Stockpile money for the market, or grind through crew skills? Or is there another idea? Any help would be appreciated. :)

  11. Wassup yall, I got a little question,

So I've been playing SWTOR for the story and the fun, and I am in no way a hard Operation goer or Ranked PVPer. I enjoy group stuff like World Boss hunting and HM Flashpoints, as well as uprisings and dalies. That being said, I never really committed myself to understanding the whole gearing process as I am pretty casual. Thus, my question arises

Q: What is more important for an Immortal Jugg: Endurance augments or shield augments?

My reasoning for this question is that I have almost full 248 gear (implant is my only 246 piece) and I am now augmenting with 236 augs. Given the price on them and cost of crafting, I can't exactly trial and error this. With endurance augments my HP will be around 130k+, but obviously my shield absorption would be lacking a little. Should I let my HP fall to ~125-126k and use shield augments instead, favoring eating damage via absorption chance vs eating it with HP? Any advice appreciated. This is the first and only MMO I've ever played so I lack the understanding to properly gear on my own. Hoping SWTOR's friendly community could help me out.

  12. I may be opening a can of worms () by replying, but I wanted to address the question about Tier 5. Essentially, what you are seeing is just old data that needs to be purged.

We have no plans to add Tier 5 levels/crates to Galactic Command anytime soon. I'll be sure to kick off a thread after I release the Roadmap to dive deeper into our gearing vision for the coming year. That way, we're all on the same footing and can have a good discussion about what and when.

    ---Keith

WOAH **** a dev who isn't afraid of addressing a problem and facing criticism head on? Keith you the bestttttt. You say new gearing vision? Let's just hope and pray that you read (and I'm sure you have) all the threads and comments about REMOVE RNGGGGGG!!!!!!!!!!

  13. The solution would be to just hide the goodies out of the LoS of the turrets. Conquering the enemy spawn is a thing to do in TDM; best not to let it happen.

The Capital ships typically keep us out of range, but we just sit there with our gunships and bombers, making it just boring if the other team is that bad. I've never been able to get close without dying, what is the strategy to that?

  14. Our guild is quite mobile and tends to hop servers a lot. We have toons on harbinger but lately we have been more focused on JC as there is another GSF guild there that we like to play friendly 8v8's against, and give each other the opportunity to test out new strategies against one another. The guild is called Shadowlands Reconnaissance Wing, and you can usually identify our toons because they have a -srw at the end of their names (or -srw'i for imp side).

We can definitely let you know when we visit harbinger sometime and you can fly with us if you would like! We do use teamspeak as well, it is very important for cohesion.

I would love to! My character is Cäthërine (special a is alt 132 and e is alt-137), Shoot me mail anytime yall hop on, and I'll see if I can join. I'm typically a friday-sunday player because of my work schedule.

  15. Hey guys, positivity thread pt 5! Star Wars is nothing without it's aliens, they are a huge part of what makes it amazing. In my opinion, BW did a pretty damn good job with these species' in SWTOR! As the title says, what is your favorite SWTOR species (playable or not,) and why?

Mine has to be the Chiss hands down. Prior to playing SWTOR, I read all of the books that had anything to do with the Chiss species. When I saw that Chiss was playable, i instantly threw down the cash and got it :D It's just so satisfying when no one knows who you're looking at, all they know is that you look like a cold, deadly af killer  The Chiss NPCs are awesome too. I love their no-nonsense attitude and dry humor. So that's my opinion, what's yours?

  16. Just another thing they are likely going to forget about. If you look, the Holonet hasn't been updated in over four years. Doubt the calendar will get much attention, unless someone happens to have an "oh duh" moment and remember it. Doubtful though.
  17. Just started playing with a friend and I liked it enough to snag a subscription. I was hoping to get some advice for which server to play on. I would like to play on a populated server and find a community/guild to get active with. I previously played SWG way back when and I can see myself enjoying this much more if I can find an active community!

Welcome to the game! What I would first suggest is clicking your friend's referral link for an extended subscription (or mine if you feel inclined :D ) plus a starter bundle and other helpful stuff for a good jumpstart. Most populated server is Harbinger, but the community is pretty toxic. Next would be Ebon Hawk, then Shadowlands, then Bastion. If you are looking for a populated server with large guilds and lots of pops, go Harbinger.

But be warned, they aren't that friendly to new players. The majority of "noob" questions you ask in chat will be returned with "your mom" jokes and "get gud" . If you're lucky a kindly veteran will respond. Don't let that scare you away though. If you want a community of group oriented people, go there and try to find a noob friendly guild.

    Happy SWTORing!

  18. Cool thread! Our guild has a "strategic database" where we have threads where we can develop and archive different strategies which we utilize during our premade vs. premade matchups, and we refine them as time goes on. In there we have our standard SOP's (Standard operating procedures) as well as AOP's (alternate operating procedures) which can be deployed against atypical team compositions as well as more unique and experimental strategies. While I won't post any of our SOP's, one of our more exotic strategies which I developed in 2015 and has been successfully deployed is known as the "Map tilt strategy", or, as my guildmates affectionately refer to it "the aussie strat".

Is your Guild on Harbinger, and if so what is it? I really like that strategy, and think it would completely destroy if executed properly. Teamwork may improve if you guys were on teamspeak or some sort of mic channel. Again, I would love to try that sometime with a coordinated group. Sounds way too fun :D

  19. I have a lot of ideas for tactics/strategies, but most require teamwork and coordination (as well as a modicum of pilot skill and some ship upgrades); as such I haven't been able to try out any of them.

The tactics/strategies that I have tried with some success are far simpler. For DOM (sat map) matches I try to get my team to run for all 3 nodes (with one of them as a diversion/delaying tactic, which will depend on which satellite the opposition rushes heavily) at first, then triage and defend/hold two for the match (taking possession of another satellite if need be, such as when the opposing team makes a concerted effort to take one of our satellites). A variant of this is a tactic in which I pose a credible solo threat to an opposing satellite (AoE ion shots plus rapid destruction of satellite turrets via slug railgun with armor penetration), causing the opposing team to dedicate 2 or more pilots to neutralizing me (thus leaving 6 or fewer opposing pilots for the other 7 members of my team to handle). While I call both tactics "baiting," they have different uses and different objectives. In both cases, however, while the original intent is not actually to take the satellite in question (rather the idea is to cause imbalance and induce disadvantages on the opposing team), should the opposing team fail to counter me, they will end up losing the satellite.

In TDM matches, I sometimes fly out first as a T2 scout and head all the way to the opposing lines (especially if I can grab a DO while doing it) and cause confusion and mayhem; a kill or two in the process would be nice, but that isn't the point - the idea is to get the opposing team confused and cause them to hunker down where they are (either aiming at/laying mines against me or trying to dogfight me while I fly all over their back line) - with the effect of pinning them at/near their spawn when the rest of my team catches up.

I should note that partly due to their simplicity and because I'm not the only one who consciously employs these tactics, these tactics are effective against less experienced teams and not as much against those full of skilled veterans.

I really find this interesting! I do like your TDM strategy, and may try that soon. As you said though, it may not work against veterans. Given the dynamic of GSF of harby, the majority of players are considered veterans. Maybe if two scouts rushed to wreak havoc, so they can watch each other's back as the whole enemy team is caught by surprise? Inevitably you will get people tailing you, so having a wingman might prove extremely helpful. Otherwise, that plan seems pretty solid as long as you target the enemy gunships. If you focus bombers and scouts, the GSs will set up and tear you to shreds in fifteen seconds. Love it!

  20. I find it hysterical that someone dug this thread up, but i am more glad that it's being brought to the attention of the devs (hopefully). Nothing on tac fps, nothing on new ops. Same stuff from four years ago. FOUR YEARS FOR CRYING OUT LOUD :rak_02: but hey I wonder if they are still "working on it" with no timeline :D An outdated website is never going to attract more players. Honestly updating a webpage isn't that hard, most people who have ever touched a webpage editor could do it, it's not that complicated. REALLY REAlly not that difficult. I guess I'm just disappointed in Eric for another empty promise. Just sad.
