  1. This. Also, if looks are an issue for you, remember that even somebody as vain as Jaime Lannister can find a soft spot for Brienne.
  2. Fair enough on XvT, but XWA is more than pretty enough to serve as a GSF replacement, and was extremely smooth-playing as well.
  3. For joysticks: 1. License X-Wing vs. TIE Fighter or X-Wing Alliance 2. Upgrade graphics 3. ? 4. PROFIT
  4. This didn't seem like a question for the New Player Help forum because I'm not really a new player, but please forgive me if I'm wrong about that. After a hiatus of several months from the game, I am just about ready to pick up again. I've got an elder-game Guardian, an almost-done-with-main-story Sorceress, a mid-40s Sniper, and a couple of other lowbies waiting for me. But here's the problem: I barely know what to do anymore. I know the basic controls, of course—they're not that difficult and there are some things you never really forget. But I have lost any real proficiency with combat management. I don't remember a lot about my rotations, my situational skills, crafting, or companion control. the things I do remember are so rusty that they're useless unless I find a way to mod the game into a turn-based one. Do you have any recommendations for getting back to my former level of play skill (which wasn't great, but I was enjoying myself) so I can continue with my existing characters? Should I start new ones? Rampage through low-level areas during off hours when I won't inconvenience players on missions? Any other suggestions? Thanks, Alefiend
  5. Better players than I will give you more info, but part of your issue is that you aren't deep enough into the class to have all your rotation skills yet. Also, a sentinel is going to have a very different set of skills and priorities than a guardian will, especially if we assume that the typical sentinel is a beatstick and the typical guardian is a tank. The sentinel has to pour on the damage faster, while the guardian can be more deliberate.
  6. You don't have to look very far for one of these in-game.
  7. Not yet. I suppose it's the mirror image of the Knight in story as well as abilities? The shame of it is, the sorc I'm running is a healer, and the way I justify that for Sith in my mind is that she manipulates pleasure and pain. In short, she's kind of a BDSM seductress, and I would be much happier with that character doing the corrupting than some emo Sith beatstick (which I won't be getting around to playing for a long time). Can't have everything, I guess.
  8. The best advice I ever got for dealing with Leeroy marauders and sentinels is this: Let them leap in and die a few times. They will either learn their lesson or they will quit, whereupon you can re-queue for a better player.
  9. Here's a noob's opinion. The Sorc healer I'm playing is my first ever healer, and SWTOR is my first-ever MMORPG (except for Age of Conan, but it was a real disappointment and I gave it up fast). She's very easy to manage, and does a very good job of keeping teammates on their feet, even though I don't have the AoE heal yet or even particularly good gear. She can also deliver useful damage when needed, and there's a nice handful of panic buttons for when the Aggro Fairy waves her wand at you.
  10. You know how, at the bottom of the screen you have your group members and your companion on one side, and your active target on the other? Well, you can have another clickable target elsewhere on the screen. The command is either CTRL-F or ALT-F (don't remember which) and it will make it easier for you to switch targets. I am sure there's more to it than what I've just said, but I only recently found out about it myself. It's great for healers too, especially for keeping other people's companions in the fight.
  11. I would love this. I've been meaning to create a suggestion for it, so I'm glad to see I don't have to.
  12. I've made it nearly all the way through a Sith Sorcerer playthrough, and something occurred to me. Why don't darksiders have the chance to corrupt lightsiders? In my Jedi Guardian playthrough, I redeemed somewhere between two and four Sith/Dark Jedi, enough that it started to feel trite. The dark side is supposed to be seductive and addictive, yet I can't even get my own apprentice Ashara to do much more than look for middle ground. What gives?
  13. This is the right of it. As an addendum to (a), maybe they tried selling a given item at what seemed like a reasonable price and failed—just because everybody else has the same price doesn't mean it's the right price.
  14. Sure, it's annoying. But that's why we have an in-game economy, or what passes for one. You get something you don't need, sell it on the GTN—somebody else is doing the same thing with something you do need. More trade terminals on the planets would be a good thing.
  15. I found it fairly easy to get max affection with Kira (as a male guardian, so there was romance) and Kaliyo (as a female sniper, so there wasn't) without resorting to gifts. I think I maxed Kira before I even got Doc. (OK, there were a few given in both cases, but those were gifts of opportunity—I was cleaning out inventory and there were some things which only they really liked.) You'll only be able to max one companion without gifts, and you can't even do that in some cases. For example, a female sorcerer could adventure with Ashara from the moment she shows up and never reach 10,000.
  16. That works. I'm doing it more like a pleasure/pain thing—the healing is bliss and euphoria (and the endorphins that cause them), the damage is typical Sith lightning and flesh twisting. Sorry if that's TMI, but it makes sense to me.
  17. I don't know if I like it or not. My only experience in multiplayer healing was the old space sim/strategy hybrid game Allegiance, where the key to keeping bombers and capital ships alive was sending a bunch of scouts to repair them with the nanite gun. There was no single player component, so nanny trains were basically taking one for the team. It's different with SWTOR, because there's a lot of SP content to enjoy/get through. I simply don't understand how to progress through the story without being an active combatant. I also haven't tried, but I'm wary of the investment of time. I just realized that the Reply function doesn't let me see the other posts in this thread, so it looks like I might be multi-responding tonight.
  18. So I'm a relative newbie to SWTOR (two months playtime, one 55, one 40, and an abandoned 17), and I have almost no MMO experience outside of this game. As such, I've been relying on the Web for build advice. The thing is, I don't want to follow somebody else's template—especially because the two I've done so far have been essentially single-tree builds, and that seems limiting. My question is: Can true hybrids (skills up to the middle of two or three trees) be as successful and playable as the more linear specs? What's the most important thing when freestyling a build? Yes, I know this is a huge can of worms I've opened, since I've looked at a number of the threads that turn up when I search "hybrid." Let me clarify what I'm looking for: I have zero interest in PvP. I'll be doing PvE, FP, and Ops only. I am aware that PvE is much more forgiving than other parts of the game. I am a subscriber, so I can respec if I have to—I just don't want to spend all my time experimenting if it's pointless. By "successful" I mean can contribute to high-level groups and not be a leech or dead weight. By "playable" I mean does not require three hands to manage all the skills. I want fun, not exhaustion. I plan to do a playthrough with every class on both sides, and possibly every advanced class. Right now, I'll be content with one of each "type." I've done a Guardian to 55, and have a Sniper at 40, so now I need a Consular/Inquisitor and a Trooper/BH to round me out. Lastly, I have no idea how to handle a healer spec. I know it's a vital role, but I haven't yet wrapped my mind around how I can have fun skeeting kolto around while my companions or group members do all the fighting. I am willing to learn. Thank you. --------- Alefiend No signature yet
