  1. See, no, thats the thing. If I queue as a heals and get a 3DPS group, sure, good heals/DPS=no downtime/insane clears. However, expecting a tank to tank a tactical is ridiculous. Most people don't appreciate the guy absorbing damage, and the 3 DPS don't give the tank a chance to rest, plus the general lack of a healer causes the tank's health to drop ridiculously fast, especially if the DPS take their sweet time. TL;DR: Heals=great, Tanks=Unnecessary and poor things at Tacts
  2. *shrugs* Although there is definitely a possibility, I personally doubt that they'd wait till next year. Frankly, doing that would be shooting themselves in the foot when players have been griping about thin content this year. (And no, strongholds doesn't really count)
  3. /signed 99% class stories are dead. This would be nice, especially if instances are rebalanced to 55. Redo everything with companion of my choice and the armor that was level-locked. Wouldn't pay anything outside of my sub however.
  4. Was there a reason for his? But enough with the pointless bickering, perhaps I overreacted. It's just annoying whenever someone feels the need to personally attack anyone criticising or (negatively?) commenting on the game etc just because they don't see/realise/have experienced any problems.
  5. Agreed. Or if I had a GS, then I can pull a sniper and vice versa. At the same time, if this tool is used, I think there should be a sign on all their forum posts, what character etc, so we know whether complaints about lack of content etc are valid. Keeps accountability, you know?
  6. No no, I definitely agree that going the latter is being stupid.I do respect some of you posters, at least I think you believe in what you say. In the context of this article however, I feel ZH has given a viable, achievable suggestion if the dev's at EA are willing to fork more money and invest fully to make this game more. As has been noted before, the switch to F2P has generated huge income for this game, more than a sub model ever could (that's for another discussion though). The problem most of us have is that we feel, based only on our past and current knowledge (communication is something the dev's need to improve on defs) is that we're not seeing this money being funneled back into the game for reasons stated before and in many threads. I guess sometimes it can be easy to smudge the line between healthy criticism and full on well, you know, but most of us are also pretty passionate about the game and seeing it performing poorly (opinion) is saddening. Anyway, hope I don't sound condescending/patronising etc, just hoping to have a healthy discussion here.
  7. I don't understand you white knights (actually, I'm not even sure you qualify) with how constructive criticism and improvements becomes some doomsday prophecy...anyway I digress. Point being: SWTOR could use better communication between dev's and players. WOW has had an expansion dated, named and priced for how long now? Swtor has "an expansion that is similar to Makeb" and GSH, the only major reveal since the beginning of the year. It is less than 2 months before the launch of housing (a side feature) and we still DON'T KNOW anything beyond the basics e.g. how legacy banks gonna work, ship pricing, placing of items etc..." Story players got 3 measly 20-minute tactical flashpoints i.e. no balancing, no challenge months ago. Our last new gameplay style addition was space arena PVP, released for subs last year. PVP players have only gotten 1 new map this year. Endgame players get months of same HM raiding and NM mode months AFTER, and even then DP/DF weren't even released in the same patch. In these same months, we have gotten, well... cartel packs, money sinks (NS Event), cartel packs and did I mention cartel packs? Can you as a player justify this as substantial legitimate CONTENT? Is the game dying, no, far from it, is it getting harder to justify $15/month when a new content expansion will charge subbers extra money to access?....yes, yes it is.
  8. Your team kicked a tank? That's....new....on the bright side though, at least you didn't have to run with a group with at least 2 people who weren't right in the head.
  9. My 2 cents: I used to be in one of the largest APAC raiding/social guilds on Harbinger. SM, HM, NM, you name it, we ran it. We had alt guilds, sister guilds, PVP guilds etc. Ran weekly night OPs with fresh players like me given a chance to join in for progression. Now, our "progression team" is the same 8 people running DP/DF only on Pub side. Our GM took a 5 month hiatus from lack of content and our guild is only half full with maybe 5 people on a good night. Our PVP guild died with the lone leader running solo ranked by himself. Our richest players donated their M$$ into the guild bank then quit. Even our FP groups quit after tacticals were all that they released. I myself swapped my tanks and heals to DPS due to no use outside competitive raiding/PVP which we can't do anymore. The content this year has been poor to say the least. They give us all this crappy money sinks like the NS event which few people have enough money to afford to complete and housing, which ultimately while nice (I was looming foeward to it originally) is supposed to substitute actual content like PVP maps, Ops or even bloody challenging FPs. I used to hope that class stories would come back but if they can't even keep standard MMO-group content coming on a regular basis, well good luck. Finally, where's my monthly sub money going to if all this content is supposed to come in the Makeb-like PAID expansion?
  10. Ooh Slafko's done! Can i give it a shot? "poped cz hm. healer made me move guard from him to mara even tho i purposely let him take aggro so i dont take dmg. they got angry for some reason about my shien form as a tank even tho i said more dps and kill faster=less damage. i died cos the stoopid noob healer couldnt heal properly. i dunno why he dint use the healing stations. they got angry abt me needding the mara gear for jaesa even tho i explained that she uses lightsaber=strength gear. as a tank i take charge so i told them abt my NIM clears but they made stoopid up abt achievements lol. got kicked again. noobs. gon run kdy." How was that?
  11. Actually, an ok-geared tank can shrug off the damage as it doesn't really hurt. The circle of damage is really small. The guy mentioned that the tank turned the boss around 180. Completely unnecassary and annoying for DPSers like sins who need to be behind the boss and healers, as the tank's now out of range if they're on the bunker
  12. Oh yeah, my ideas are for future content not any current content. Should have been a bit more clear sorry.
  13. So the title basically explains what I'm talking about: Conversation Choices. Let me explain. 1. Currently, conversation options for a character are set based on the alignment for their faction i.e. Empire = Evil Scumbags, Republic = Goody-goody two shoes. This means that if I should play as a LS Sith or a DS Jedi, it's very rare to find convo options that actually let me say what I want to say. Also, this means that sometimes there is no difference between 2 of the 3 options available e.g. "Very Well","I'll do it.","I will destroy them and their families!" so what's the point? 2. For some reason, many times what the teaser text says can differ very differently to what my toon actually says. For example, when I play as a LS Sith, I've had to restart the convo due to the misleading text. Something as simple as "Very Well" became "I am Sith! I will destroy them! Muahahahaha!" (Slight exaggeration but point is there.) Although class stories are out of the picture for now, I notice that the inherent LS/DS carries on to faction content e.g. Makeb/Oricon. Very annoying. Solutions: 1. I feel that a simple way to resolve this issue is to make all conversation options play out like an alignment choice. In an alignment choice there are 3 options: LS/DS/Neutral. So, all future convo choices will be "Nice/Neutral/Evil". Make a strong distinction between the three options. I can be a nice Sith that gets invited to all of the parties, a neutral one or the guy that kicks the door down and raids the fridge. 2. A small QOL feature that could be implemented could be a little description of what happens by choosing that option. For example "Insults NPC","Thanks NPC" or the emotive that the character will use when saying it. "Angry","Generous" but you get the idea. Currently, the description is there when an action is taken after the choice, such as murdering the NPC, but it would be nice to see this being carried out. What do you think?
  14. If you're a healer, why do you use Elara? Then why didn't you respec to DPS since you pulled your comp out? Just curious.
  15. You are without a doubt the most patient tank in any FP I've ever heard of. Allow me to give you some times when it's good to kick a player. 1. When the Shien form jug DPS queues as a tank for a 55 HM 2. When said Jug Dpstank has only 25K Hp. 3.When upon closer inspection, he has some willpower because "I'm a Sith lol. Willpower = More FORCEZ!" 4.When the Jug Dpstank's response to you calling him out is "**** noob, I've cleared Nim DP 100 times with my guild. My main is the raid leader of "Top Harbinger's raiding guild" I know what I'm doing!" Should you decide not to kick, be prepared with: 1. Stealth abilities, so you and the real DPS can watch said tank die...and die...and die 2. Time, so you can watch his attempts to wipe the group fail miserably as the real Dps clean up his messes. Now, after all that, the real question is, when to kick? Well.... 1. After his attempts to ninja-loot fail as the DPS A and you counter-need. 2. After said jug Dpstank has probably about a 100K in repairs from his wipes. 3. Right before the final boss so you can pull out Treek who *gasp* taunts and holds aggro! Note: The above was a true story. But the fun doesn't stop there! Learn all about the 30 different methods of swearing in general chat, as well as the nightly events that your gaming has forced your mother into! Finally, learn about the dangers of sharing on the Internet as said Jug Dpstank is planning on "m********** you little f****** piece of c****!
  16. I hear you. Tanks are really a dying breed. Shame really. I have 4 55 tanks and I've slowly stopped pugging with them. I mean there's not much point to play a 55 tank unless you're in an ops guild. 55 tacticals...seriously. Slower levelling/killing/dailies and some of the attitudes in pugs...ugh. Once again, I blame KDY Academy and Bioware's constant catering of super casuals.
  17. Seriously man, not cool. DPS queuing as anything other than a DPS without even a respec just makes people hate you. And in your case, you didn't even have the experience of healing before. On another note, if you plan on grouping again (please do it properly ;D) when the group starts clearing before everyone's zoned in, they're just clearing trash mobs while they wait, so you don't have to be in a rush.
  18. I like this (except the sub-only part). You know, rework this a little bit and you may be on to something. Like you have to have 1 level 50 character or something at least or else you will undergo a compulsory non-spacebar tutorial. "This is a taunt", "Did you know you have a free out-of-combat heal?", "You are a marauder, you do damage, not pull ahead of the tank". Bioware, if you see this, hire the guy I quoted from. He just solved the source of the problems in this thread!
  19. On a side note, it's affect. Affect is the verb and effect the noun so you're correct in its use. Have you thought that maybe the Op's idea of healing is clicking the kolto pods in the boss stage or getting auto-healed in the turrets on Colicoid? With the breed of players being churned out of the KDY Academy, it honestly doesn't seem tjat far out of possibiloty.
  20. Look mate, you don't have to like my method, but if it is a legitimate method THAT WORKS, please don't insult me and insist your way is the only way. I am not buying a field respec or changing my spec so I have a skill that I FIND is not very useful on solo content or other HMs other than that one fight. I do the intercede trick all the time when I pop CZ Meltdown with no problems. In fact, other jugs thank me when I teach them this move. But hey, it's cool that you have your way and I have mine
  21. You didn't read what I said. I never wanted to imtercede to them. I was planning on interceding to tbe generator. They got in my way. Interceding to the generator itself is faster rhan even rule of two. Read carefully mate. ;D
  22. I find that the best way to deal with the idiots in Fps is to come here and talk about it so here I am again. Was on my jug tank for a 55 Hm and popped CZ. Group's geared, follows kill order, greets one another at start so I think this won't be too bad. I even give them permission to pull ahead on trash (something I do when the group's good, people appreciate not losing their procs etc). All goes well until we meet the sandstorm demon from hell. As some of you might know, juggernaut/guardian tanks can use next friendly target and use intercede/guardian leap to the generator. Instant and convenient. The generator can't be clicked hence the use of next friendly target. First time, someone activates the boss by clicking the node. I was not quite ready but managed to get one intercede and sandstorm in before we wipe. So I tell the group, let me initiate and please stay behind me so that I can pop intercede on the generator. For whatever reason, they decide not to listen to me, and run to the generator so I can't target it. (Targeting them instead). No issue, I"ll just intercede to them when I notice that NOT ONE IS USING THEIR SPEED BOOST OR GAP CLOSER. The op heals is not using her roll, the PT is not popping HO, and the jug dps is being a douche and running normally. 3 times this happens and I'm about 5m from the generator. And since they all decided to stack for whatever reason, their damage stacks. 3 times we wipe (I stuck it at 5% so no repair bill) and each time I get progressively angrier that they refuse to stay behind me ( they said outright, no) or even use their gap closer until on the final try, the PT dps has the nerve to say "Tank, we need you to fight him at the generator". I lose it, call them out for being thick-headed morons and leave. As a tank, I'm not expecting people to just blindly follow my orders, but if you're just going to argue with me and get numerous wipes, that's a quit from me. Hmm, good therapy...
  23. My Story: Pugging 55 HM CZ Meltdown Was a while ago but I remember it because of that terrible experience. Queued for 55 on my best geared toon, 39K HP Pt Tank. Got 2 good Dps and a sorc heal. DPS wasn't the problem here. Got to the Vrlbther boss with the spores. On this boss, I'd created a method that stopped him from throwing me without moving very much. I call the boss to the spore by the door, explode it and run straight to the spore by the tree. Put my back to the tree and when the 1st dot runs out, I have a second spore to explode giving the group a few minutes of uninterrupted Dps, great for mDps. Anyway, this moron sorc decides to explode the spore way too early even though I say leave it to me and tries to dps instead of heal, causing a wipe. Blames me and for the nest round, he decides he knows how to tank better than I can and basically uses his sorc pull to drag me around whenever it was off CD. He doesn't even let the dot get halfway before giving me A THREAT DROP. Finally, kill the boss, I leave and ignore. Ran another with my guild. I have no time for idiots who always blame the tank so they don't take the blame. TL;DR Moron sorc heal used threat drop friendly pull on tank because of own stupidity causing a previous wipe. Put me off tanking pugs for a bit.
  24. Awesome job with the new housing and guild ships, damn. Can't wait to bankrupt myself on my house. Hopefully there will be some things to do on the guild ships. Er..not sure if this is the right place for this, but how will bound items work with the legacy vault e.g. armor anyone know? Or am I not understanding the legacy vault concept properly? Won't complain if bound armors work with legacy vaults though.
  25. Running my Op Healer on SM Boarding Party. Found myself with this Juggernaut Tank who refused to wait for anyone before engaging any mobs. He'd literally throw himself into a group of mobs while we're fighting a previous mob, or attacking a new mob without healing himself between fights, and I'd have no energy because I'm busy spamming Kolto Injection to keep him alive. He also had this thing where he'd tank the mob, but if he lost aggro he wouldn't bother chasing them back, often meaning I'd have carry the brunt of the battles. The worst part was when he engaged one of the bosses at half health and with only 3-men since our other DPS DC'ed. Debated votekicking him, but decided against as I found out he'd grouped with the DPS. Managed to pull through, mostly cause of my ability to heal, DPS rogue mobs and basically tank the FP as a HEALER (not trying to brag, but true).
