I believe there are quite a few RP guilds in Reps, one that springs to mind is called The Hayabusa Order but there is another that is just Troopers (cant remember the name of it sadly - Heavy/Tactical Infantry Squad or something like that?). So maybe you can query in general chat if there are any on from the aformentioned guild. I've not been in that guild myself tho, so cant speak to what they are like. There are alot of guild recruit spam on fleet these days, especially since steam launch a few days ago. Hope you find what you are looking for !

  4. We are returning players that are in the process of resurrecting our Republic guild to try our hand at progression raiding. We are looking for skilled, chilled and mature players that would like to try/learn harder modes of content with us, such as HM/NIM ops and Team Ranked. We do have experience with some HMs and have played in older seasons of Team Ranked. However as some are unfamiliar to us, ideally we will all be learning together in a collaboration There are no activity or CP requirements and anyone that joins can feel free do so on an alt with the express purpose of joining team raid nights. That means you can still feel free to play away in your conquest guild or spend less time online - we all have lives outside of the game ! Of course you are welcome to join us full time as well We will aim for two raid nights per week at the beginning and possibly some team ranked in between for those that might be interested.   5. The flag thing is straight up robbed from Guild Wars 2, where you have different ranked flags to put in an enemy you've just killed. Cause Bioware devs haven't a clue how to progress the game in an original fashion, they need to either steal ideas from other MMOs or ask the community for ideas.
  6. Hi Mike and Team, Would it be possible to look into ways of revitalising team ranked queue again? Perhaps through reviewing the rewards? With a better matchmaking system such as many of the proposed ideas in this thread (and others), it may even be possible to encourage new teams to enter the competition without fear of getting rofl stomped. Its a very enjoyable aspect of the game, for multiple reasons and imo, the most rewarding form of Ranked. Thank you.
  7. Yeah, you're right - people SHOULD be talking about targets/strat, who to focus etc however sometimes if something does go wrong its just a blame game or people crying at their team. I know how to play my class as I've done so in pvp for years, and I wasn't I talking about myself in regards to getting globalled. I was simply using that as an example scenario when someone might start crying or have a meltdown in ranked. The other day, I saw a guardian get globalled (who plays ranked regularly), managed 500 dps before he died with little damage taken, and immediately he starts trashtalking someone else on the team, because apparently him getting globalled was their fault. Do you understand what I mean? People deflect because their ego's don't allow them to admit they were at fault and they feel compelled to project an image of infallibility. No one wants people to think they're trash and so its race to find a scapegoat for the occurence/loss. SO, no-one is asking for a tutorial in the wz, there are no newbies learning to play their class as you have suggested (well not to my knowledge anyway), my point was simply that players have a choice - to either make the experience a better one for all involved by avoiding this childish behaviour (and maybe instead helping their team by engaging in discussion on who to focus instead...) OR to continue to create a negative environment which discourages people from playing solo. And for those that are at the top their game, or the mini-celeb streamers in the stwor community or whatever the case may be, they could actually influence positive changes by being supportive to their teammates instead of spewing negativity, not rage quitting matches because they don't wanna lose ELO, or not calling people on their team or opposition team r--tards and to stop queueing etc. Because other people in the community will see that and humans being humans, likely follow suit. Anyway, its just a game right? Doesn't matter how you treat your fellow humans, its just pixels innit.
  8. Thanks for your advice, its appreciated. And of course, I know myself and others do our best to ignore. I guess what I was trying to get at was, its not just average players that drive negativity as was affirmed in the podcast, it is also top rated players. Those that have managed to make it to this upper bracket are now known to the community, may even be idolised to an extent - who knows. Either way, there is something next to their name that identifies them as highly skilled and perhaps on a level to aspire to. And like yourself and the rest of the panel that were on the podcast, are in a position to influence, lead through their behavior, change zeitgeists, do things differently. Its not only **** that rolls downhill but it can also be something as simple as a shift in mindset - less isolationist and more supportive community. To be clear - I'm not asking you or anyone else to fix toxic players. I'm simply pointing out that those that put themselves out there, on streams, podcasts, forums or positions of recognition such as high rated players - they do and will influence the community, whether its intentional or not. And with this knowledge, wouldn't it be great if it was to make it a more enjoyable environment to play within. Take care.
  9. Big thank you to Snave for hosting, and also Shek'shas, N1ghtrain and Krea for providing some good insights. Its encouraging to see players in positions of influence, trying to do something positive for the community. My only piece of feedback would be on a point raised by Krea in regards to top rated players and "toxicity"/trash talk/douche-baggery. Unfortunately, I have seen and experienced this quite a bit and I know many others that have also. I've had conversations with guildies that are trying to take their PvP skill to the next level and try their hand at solo ranked but are generally discouraged after a short time because of the trashtalk and generally bad feeling from so called "team mates". Ultimately, we are facing off 4v4 and there 3 other players on my team however more often than not, its less about team work and more of a race to assign blame or deflect, e.g. if someone gets globalled or whatever the case may be. Instead of discussing strategy or plan or providing constructive criticism, its derision and belittling. In one match, a gold rated player proceeded to tell the entire group that everyone was --tarded, should'nt be playing ranked and dont bother queuing again. Its an MMO - I get that. However for many of us that want to bring our games to the next level and become competent at ranked, solo ranked is a cesspool of negativity. What I would love to see from our PvP community is, for it to actually become just that - a community. This is something that one doesnt get a sense of now. Perhaps you guys feel it in the top 10% club, but some of us pvpers that are just trying to have fun, play ranked and improve, its hard to find a sense of this. So I guess the question becomes, how can you address the behavior of random strangers on the internet. Well I guess you cannot directly, but as influencers, a more positive/supportive community could be something to be modelled and promoted. Final thought, there was some talk about workshops etc. This is fantastic idea to help those of us that want to play more ranked/arena's because at the moment in regs, the exposure / experience just isn't there. And as I think Krea mentioned when it comes to Regs vs Ranked - totally different ballgame where even knowing how to survive is a big learning curve. Anyway, a couple of cents for what its worth. Thanks again for doing something for the community.

Thanks for listening Eric and team...I didn't expect much when I created a post on this topic, however it heartens me that you are taking steps towards considering the perspective of the PvP community. For the record, gear progression is not an incentive for many players to do PvP. There are some more creative suggestions in this thread. Additionally, steps need to be taken to revitalise lowbies/midbies, perhaps that can be integrated into a better rewards scheme. Everyone that has posted the argument of "what do want, insta-gear or a free lunch? just go do the grind", has missed the complexity of the situation entirely due to tunnel vision or ignorance to any perspective that is not their own. This post is a great example of just how many considerations there are and potential outcomes/repercussions. This is an example of someone that has given this matter a great deal of thought instead of approaching this complex scenario with a singular mind. Will this gear be the end of the game? Probably not. Is it beneficial for PvE players? Most certainly. Does a rated gear system work for PvP? There is a more balanced way that puts all on a level playing field. Thanks Totem for putting forward some food for thought.
  12. Why do you think this is acceptable? In any game? It was a sub-par system implemented with arguable efficacy. You and many others were forced to participate in an aspect of the game you dislike, just to gear... you even use the words "chocked down".. how is this enjoyable and worth your subscriber money to spend your time like that? Demand more from the game you love.
  13. Yeah, I agree with you here. I'm not saying that its not a good thing for those who will play PvE and I appreciate that its something cool to strive for if thats how you want to play. I'm only suggesting that this is not a good system for gearing re. PvP for the aforementioned reasons (and others that people have provided in this thread). And contrary to what a few have suggested, this is not about having a "free lunch". And to accept things blindly without considering all perspectives or challenging our developers when we feel the game could be improved is short-sighted. If they introduced the changes for all the PvE'ers out there, and simply reverted to prior PvP gearing system (or remove gear requirement entirely) it would be more balanced.
  14. There is a more balanced solution to this particular scenario and it existed in 4.0... accepting it like sheep does not help the development of this game.

OK, I regret using the word "Casual" now because i think its interpretation is too subjective To clarify, i meant someone that does not play for many hours daily, or every day due to life balance. Just because myself and many others may not have hours of endless time to invest in playing the game, does this mean that we shouldn't be able to remain competitive in a warzone because we cannot spend X mount of hours grinding for gear? There are other solutions to this for PvP. If you look at other games, such as ESO or GW2, they help their player base that do not have time for endless grind by: 1. In GW2, they make gearing for PvP unnecessary and keep the competitive nature to exist based on skill. This is also very ALT friendly 2. In ESO, for players that do not log on every day, the provide an auto XP boost for when they do log on The PvP is superior gameplay in SWTOR imo, which is why I remain a subscriber to this game however I wish the developers facilitated flexibility, not rigidity in class choices or stopped making decisions which promote endless gear grind which should be unnecessary for PvP.

  17. Dear Keith + Bioware Team, I implore you to consider implementing an alternative gearing system for the PvP community, to your proposed 252/258 gear. I'm going to keep the reasons why this hurts us (BADLY) in a concise list below: 1. Many PvPers don't do PvE. Obtaining the means to gear up through a PvE gearing system is forcing people to participate in an aspect of the game they may not enjoy in order to grind gear. 2. You are penalising the Casual player: The Data Crystals you mention are obtainable for "Casual" players by doing the weeklies on multiple characters and then transfer over the mods via legacy - will Casual players really have the time to do weeklies on multiple characters? And at an ever increasing cost of UC? This doesn't sound Casual to me. Believe it or not, some of us have jobs and families and lives outside of the game, playing recreationally in our spare time. 3. The Craft option: How about crafters that are PvPers? Are they now supposed to be able to jump into a Gods MM and to obtain mats? This isn't realistic for many (even hardcore PvE'ers struggle with this ops) and nor should you expect a PvP player to need to do PvE in order to get mats for crafting. 4. Market creation: This will create a hyper-inflated market for mats, held in the hands of the MM PvE community who will be able to charge whatever they want. At least with T-ranked, anyone can give it a go and still eventually be rewarded without too much complexity. In summary, you've made it astoundingly difficult and not enjoyable for PvPers like myself and many others to obtain high end gear. Some of us are still trying to gear alts in 248.... There was nothing wrong with the old 204/208 system for PvP - it was in fact perfect and put everyone on the same level playing field. Take a look at what they're doing in GW2 where they essentially make skill and not gear, the focus for PvP. Thanks for listening.   19. +1 100% Agree with the guarding comment and shortening the cap time would help with this. The reality is that most people simply do not want to guard and for those that do, if they mess up somehow get nothing but grief from the rest of the team. If peeps are so concerned with keeping the objective, they should be there supporting the person and ensuring the win instead of crying when a node gets capped while they're farming DPS at mid. Providing incentives or changing the gameplay around this would be an genius way to address this problem. Plus slower cap time would make for fast and furious gameplay.
  20. +1 My thoughts too. The earlier insinuation by Hottie that getting farmed while trying to stop cap lacks skill is short-sighted for a few different reasons: -It doesn't consider team inequalities created by the current matchmaking system (e.g. healer heavy, tank heavy or 8 dps and no healer etc) -It assumes that all players must be on an equal footing in terms of skill, which in practical reality cannot and will never be the case (e.g. the player that casually plays pvp for an hour in the evening or newbies vs. those that commit their entire recreational free time to the game) -Faction disparity such as the one that exists on Malgus (lets face it, Reps kinda suck on this server, sadly) -Sometimes if the skill level is disparate, this is the only line of defense in order to protect the objective and the opposition should use the many tools in their ability sets to slow, stun/CC, knock back etc to impede my attempt Final thought, I do feel that players should be encouraged to develop their skill set to make the games more competitive however punishing them for call-outs such as this is not the way to do. This may simply discourage new or lower-skilled players from trying to have fun in PvP and we're then left with the elitist dinosaurs.
  21. hey Jim, I am experiencing the same challenge with the aoe pressure comp trend thats happening in ranked atm. Find it challenging to pump out the raw hps needed to counter while maintaining healthy force pool, and as others have mentioned, it also has to be a team effort. 8.5-9.5k hps consistently on a sorc is impressive tho, gj. Only pushing 8.5k myself atm in full 248 so if you got any tips/good vids/guide, do share!
