  1. Hey folks,

What we were experiencing is a DDOS attack against our NA datacenter, which impacted the Satele Shan and Star Forge servers. The situation has mostly recovered and we are continuing to monitor. Thank you for your patience.

looks like the lukewarm s***ters are back... who else remembers when they got mad and ddos'd mosh and his team cause they couldn't beat them? not to mention their fake titles

  2. s12 starts who knows when.

while i agree ranked is dying even further and pretty meaningless since 3.0, just wanted to point out they've already said the season will start in december, rather than "who knows when". Lol. To be fair ranked players have never been good at reading... or anything basic

  3. Sorc badly needs more means to survive. Right now it is a very easy target, especially if sorc doesn't know he should kitty his/her opponent. I played both assassin and sorc, assassin just eats sorcs for dinner. Yes, it is possible for sorc to win, I had those moments, but, every time my life was hanging by the thread, there is almost no room for mistake, not only our damage sucks, but our survivability is atrocious also. It's like they turned him into food for other classes compared to what I heard about sorcs in glory days. Some abilities from Valkorion that we had briefly to experience would be great maybe, Not that OP of course... Oh yeah, new ability has no use at all, its damage is the same as a cat bite, but even that doesn't do justice to cats...

What I would like to suggest is:

    1. Make lightning spec into heavy burst spec, high damage, but not much on the defense, kill or be killed philosophy so to speak, lots of running around and keeping distance from the opponent.

    2. Make madness spec into survivability spec, higher on defense less damage then lightning. What I have in mind is a melee caster, someone who can take damage. And to cover for PvE players, add some bonuses that he will give to a group maybe so it won't turn into mainly PvP spec.

    I guess that's it :)

while this would greatly help noobs, it makes decent sorcs/sages ridiculously difficult to kill with huge damage output. The thing is, most noob sorc/sages play melee. That means they stand in one spot, shoot lightning at others and hope to win. Here's a fun fact, you won't. Step 1, move. Step 2, apply dots, step 3, if they follow you, move again. Pretty basic. You have phase walk, bubble, endless self heals, force sprint, what else do you need? But oh no, you want to be like a merc who just stands there wailing on people and thinking you'll win.

  4. lol This just reeks of ego!

The guild wintrades its way to titles, then trolls regs in groups to pretend they're still relevant, even though none of them can get out of bed without lore or some other pocket healer holding their hand. If that's not an ego I'm not sure what is.

  5. So, i got an invite from a trash lukewarm guild last week, and it's been playing on my mind ever since. Am i really that bad? Or just irrelevant? Time to retire my s1 rancor, i no longer deserve it :(

  6. the map won't change your ping. it may change your framerate if your computer can't cope but if there is a performance issue with the new map, you might wanna send in a report.
  7. A good player in bolstered 208s is probably still going to beat a poor one in full 248s.

This, but there's no "probably" about it. If the pvp scene had a good number of top tier players, then yeah, gear would matter. Truth is most players would be just as bad if they had full 248 because they're still clicking, don't know defensives, have bad positioning, no rotation or strategy, etc. Hell, some people seem to think using your defensives or raid buff before the gate opens is useful to them.

Sure gear matters a bit, but most players would be much better off by parsing for 5 mins, starting to keybind etc rather than try upgrade their gear.

  8. First of all it's great to see how many people queue TR. And TR should be the source of materials. Both serious players can enjoy meme teams of farmers for rating

Stopped reading after this. game is enough of a joke as it is, encouraging people to form noob pugs and throw TR (the sad epitome of pvp in this game) is just unbelievable. If you're ok with encouraging more throwing, stop calling it team ranked. Call it... gathering

by the end of the rounds we played, we actually came out evenly with three wins and three losses on our tank/scoundrel healer/sage dps/gunslinger. We went up against some "serious teams" from the other faction and actually won without that much PvP experience.

Yep they sound like real serious teams. Keep telling yourself that

  9. ... Every braindead move the person has a guild with a @EbonHawk attached to it.... At this point Im looking to get away from the EH people, as far far away as I possibly can. SS behave similarly?

shhhhhhh you're destroying the legitimacy of all the solo ranked gods of PvP from ebon hawk that are obviously gods because it's a legit server

  10. To keep it short, I'll just voice my problem.

Sniper/slinger ability entrench should be disabled if they have battle mods, similar to cloaking abilities for stealth classes. Otherwise it gives unfair advantage, sniper can simply roll on control point pop entrench and easily disable active point while enemy team have few seconds to burn them. You can't stop them at all, they immune to CC, interrupts and pushes. While other classes need to be sneaky and skilled with their crowd control skills, entrench is literally broken ability with battle mods.

oh it's so terrible that different classes have different skills that make them situationally useful in warzones. how about we get rid of everything, make every class exactly the same and make it boring as f***************************

"You can't stop them at all"... boo freaking hoo

  11. anything is viable for regs. just put in a little effort into keybinding, positioning and a basic rotation and you'll beat 95% of the playerbase.

that being said, some specs are better at carrying said 95% of the playerbase.

in ranked, yeah try avoid being a complete liability to your team.

    your list:

    Ops/Smug - Heals, Scrapper/Consealment

    Jugg - Tank

Sorc - Heals (only in rated)

Sniper/Gunslinger - Any other than dot spec

    Maurader - Burst spec

    Merc/Commando - all 3 specs

    Sin - Bust Spec

That's 12 specs out of what 30? With only 1 viable tank option.

all tanks are fine. just use the right gear.

sorc heals is fine in anything. sorc dps is fine if you play it right

    any mara spec is fine

    any sniper/gs spec is fine

    any sin spec is fine

  12. So back to my initial point, being able to agro dump in PvP is the most powerful ability in the game. I was vs dueling a mara and would have won very easily based on ability, but they vanished out and healed to full multiple times and I lost. My knowledge of the class and years of playing it foiled at the press of a button.

pretty much a summary of the original post. if your "years of playing" haven't taught you to look on a map and see where a marauder has run off to:

    a) what have you been doing all those years?

    b) you shouldn't be playing ranked

    c) you really should learn to look at a map. i know it's hard when you're probably still looking down at your keyboard trying to find the button that makes you move forward, but just a little bit of practise will help

    d) of course the problem isn't you it's always their fault, game is rigged boohoohoo

    e) giving all classes a vanish wouldn't be game breaking but it would make the classes less interesting and it wouldn't cure stupid.

actually that's my summary. we need to cure stupid. hooray, your thread has saved the world!

  13. you've said it's terrible without saying what you think the spec needs. "I think this is a disservice to the player base of this spec.".... what is "this"? why?

I think it's in a good spot. for pvp it has high immunity, great defensives and good burst. for pve it's parsing as expected. it's not a choice spec for any hm/nim boss fights because it's not meant to be. it's ridiculously easy to play and in a different category to carnage and annihilation. they can't make it ridiculously easy to play and have insane damage... oh wait are you a smash monkey?

they gave it a slight buff, which is much better than the usual method of class balance which is to shuffle around the fotm class by making sweeping changes. could've been time better spent fixing other classes but whatever.

  14. this is why we can't have nice things:

Just when Concealment FINALLY became a viable PVE DPS spec to be respected in raids in 5.0....the PVP whine steps into place....

I here the click click click of more unsubs coming. BioWare is intent on destroying the game and alienating more and more paying customers.

No, it's not game breaking. Yes, it'll still be viable in many raid bosses, similar to how other dot/ranged dyads work.

    Cool

    so

anything being done about "invincible 1/4 of the time" godbubble rolls? That buff is extremely OP in PvP environments. If it had a rate limit of 1min sure, but every time? You sure that's balanced?

Then again, you gave mercs 4 lives, so who knows what you consider to be fair

equating lolroll to 5.0 mercs is hilarious. they can resist for 3 seconds out of (at least) 13 but outside of that they're free game (HINT: they have no utility option for damage reduction when stunned). if anything it's getting easier to counter due to the current merc meta, plus it's been out for years so if you're still struggling to work out how to counter them, you basically deserve to feature in a snave video where he trolls 3-4 noobs for 10 mins while they figure out which way is up.

This is my favorite class and i feel i am obligated to say this,

    Are you insane??

*bioware puts up incredibly small class change* *noobs respond "Are you insane??"*

this is why we can't have nice things. do you want them to go back to not having these class discussion posts? if you feel the nerf is too much, show your maths and state why. no need to go ape over a tiny change, otherwise they'll go back to not having these discussions because people rage at everything however insignificant.

p.s. being bad at your favorite class isn't a reason to avoid being nerfed.

  15. BW took a dump on all the sync-queuers and win-traders. I think it's great. Ebon Hawk is full of them. Nothing but actually...

in your clearly expert opinion, how does raising the cap take a dump on qsync and wintrading? frankly those players are only limited by the number of games they can play, not max rating. it'll adversely impact normal players more than the cheaters, and there are much better ways to investigate and limit cheating.

  16. I haven't played ranked since Season 4 because of most of the reasons stated here, on both parts. But after reading all this ********, I decided to do something about it. In solidarity with whom? No one. Well, perhaps the OP. I'm going to simply turn off chat, ignore my mailbox, and enter ranked in my 208's.

I'll let Bioware sort out the rest.

troll them more, that'll make them shut up.

great solution! what a thoughtful person you are!

  17. i'll be honest, the gear thing isn't a huge deal for me, I'd take a good player in 230's than a bad in full 248. people just complain about gear because it makes a small difference and if you have terrible gear you probably haven't played that character much recently.

you can still do well in 230's if you know your stuff. it's the "I don't care how quickly I die I'm just here for baseline rewards" that gets me. i'll explain below. yeah some people go overboard with how they respond to that, but asking people nicely not to q ranked until they meet a basic standard of play rather than standing there and getting globaled like a muppet rarely works.

the only thing making solo ranked bearable most of the time is that it's more balanced and competitive than regs, and it's a lot easier to get pops than g-r. however if you have one person that is ridiculously bad, the game turns into a 3v4 which isn't really fun for anyone, and it's frustrating when this happens repeatedly. while losing over and over might be fun for you, cause rewards, i'd hope you can understand why it's not fun for others.

the ranked system definitely needs to be revamped to solve this. but for now, you could stop qing, or you could get a basic idea of how to play arenas, not get globaled and get a stim so it at least looks like you're trying, and I'm sure there would be fewer complaints. as for attacking so you'll hit harder than a wet noodle, most specs are ridiculously easy to play at a competent level. spend 5 mins parsing and you'll be set.

p.s. you will "earn" those "stupid tokens" much faster if you win.

  18. Actually it's an amazing CD in pve, and isn't to be underestimated. It's something to be used when a predictable large hit or knockback/knockdown is incoming. In fact, when used properly in several situations little to no uptime is lost, as you pop camo the moment the hit is going out, and right after start attacking again. Here are a few examples of its use.

Revan HM-HK grenades (to not be knocked over and reduce damage taken); pull in (to stay in melee range of core to increase uptime)

Titan 6- Reduce damage from huge grenade

Brontes NiM-eat an orb at low stacks to get back on the boss quicker

TfB NiM-eat a tentacle slam, increasing uptime

There are many, many more examples, but i can't be bothered to list all of them.

As far as the ability fitting the class, you can argue the warrior users it to take big damage, so he can continue beating down the enemy.

he's using an rp basis for his argument. facts about its usefulness in pve won't work.

  19. I distinctively remember that I never had a rating of 1,500 or higher until season 7, and I have both the furious and the swashbuckler's lightsaber. So either they had a rating requirement which was unbelievably low, and as low as 1,200 at times, or they really increased the requiremed rating for a silver rating this season so that 1,500 becomes the new "norm."

required rating was lower. 1300 for the best weapon set in game at the time... http://dulfy.net/2014/10/31/swtor-season-3-pvp-furious-rewards-announcement/

back in season 3 there were no tokens, don't remember season 4 but yeah. 1500 is much higher than any previous silver
