  1. Drak asked you nicely to stop with the arguments and all that here on his thread that is aimed at helping newer players. Rather than taking it elsewhere, like a separate thread that was created exclusively to get your drama OFF of Drak's thread, you bring it back into here. Not too respectful or classy at all. So you disagree with Drak and the other pilots that have come here to mentor new pilots. Good for you. Take the drama elsewhere. While you may retort, this will be my only post on the subject, as I do not wish to muddy up Drak's thread with this stuff.
  2. I was on Shadowlands as my main server. Transferred my main GSF toon off to Harb with the cheap transfers. Main was Celchu, pub side. I don't play as much over there now but if you did see me it would likely be under Hettart, imp side
  3. That is a viable strategy for avoiding fire, but a terrible strategy for saving/regen-ing engine power. Since the original quote was about using that tactic as a way to save engine power, yes it was terrible advice. Short bursts of booster in a dogfight will help you outmaneuver your opponent and kill/evade them, but at the cost of wasting engine power in an inefficient manor.
  4. I think its a newbie type of thing, at least the two times I saw it (and yes, it was in a star destroyer that was damaged/under construction). The first time I saw it I angled myself with a gunship about 10k out and started ion-ing the crap out of him and his drones, taking out his only real defense, his railgun drone. Then he spazzed, tried to get out fast, and blew himself up on the star destroyer before getting out. The next time I saw it, I just thought "Well, have fun" and went to play the game If this were actually a viable strategy for bombers I think we'd see Drakolich using it... Anyone who actually tries to win games realizes this tactic might make you harder to kill, maybe, but that's all it does. You're just as good to your team as an AFK farmer at that point. I think everyone here has been more than generous and helpful with information to the OP. Kiko was even volunteering to "tutor" the guy... and none of it soaked in. We're still evidently "wrong", and bombers are still mopping the maps with all the other ships when the OP plays I guess, for one excuse or another. So, I leave him with this classic quote... "Mr. Madison, what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I've ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response was there anything that could even be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul!" Learn 2 Play sounds elitist, and I really hate the phrase, but seriously, that's the issue here. You need to L2P and get more experience in killing bombers. There are plenty of people willing to help you out if you decide to start making progress instead of excuses.
  5. Ya wanna know how to deal with that strategy? You don't. You just ignore it. The only nooks where you can chill like that on Dom maps are out of the way, and do nothing to help your team. So, if they go hide in their hole like that, avoid them and go win the game by taking/defending sats. And no, you can't just pop mines/drones and "hide" anywhere on a sat. Anyplace that is over/under that gives you a good nook is easily destroyed whenever someone attacks from the top/bottom. In TDM, if you do that, I'm going to ignore you and go kill everyone else on your team to get points. I don't need any specific person to die in order for me to win, I can rack up points on any of them. Let the little bomber go play with his drone in a corner all match by himself and get close to zero req. In order for an AREA DENIAL ship (bomber) to be effective, you have to deny access to an area other pilots actually care about... and those areas are not ones you can really pop n hide in. And, another thing you seem to have overlooked for your own part (but I see not for bombers), is your team. Yeah, you know how he's "waiting for help" if he's alone? That's what you should be doing too. It's not a 1v1 game, it's a team game. Run with at least 1 other pilot, kill the drones/mines (it's not difficult to do at all), and then rip open the bomber. Even more effective if there's a gunship giving you support from a distance picking off mines/drones. Teamwork: It's not just so the other team has someone else to shoot at.
  6. I'm considering taking advantage of the cheap transfers and moving a toon or two from Shadowlands to Harb... The toon I'm considering first has been my main GSF toon. Are there any Pub side guilds that do anything with GSF? Or does anyone have anything to say about the GSF crowd on Harb? Where I'm at in life right now (career, wife, kids, etc) I'm not gonna be the most active player ever, but I do get to play a few times a week, and I'm experienced in the group PvE and GSF aspects of the game (looking at getting into PvP) Any info is appreciated. Thanks!
  7. First, it's not gear>skill in GSF. I thought so last year when I started playing, but since then I've rolled new toons on other servers and had to start from scratch in a stock scout and strike... And I fared pretty well. I'm no ace like some here on the forum, but I can tell you from experience that it is skill and knowledge of mechanics, not gear that is the determining factor in GSF (as has been pointed out in other threads). Yes it has a learning curve, but once you've made progress along that learning curve you can kick butt in a stock ship. Second, especially if you are new, you shouldn't be trying to take on the enemy team by yourself (regarding your comment about not being able to take down a ship without assistance). It's a team game and you would be much better off sticking with at least one other person. Join the GSF channel on your server to coordinate with those on your side, as well as to get advice from more experienced pilots. The community is generally pretty helpful I've found.
  8. My main GSF toon is on pub side here in Shadowlands. Do we have any guilds that run GSF groups here?
  9. I have a couple toons I play on Bastion, almost exclusively for GSF (I have been taking advantage of the 12x boost while in queue though). I have noticed that the GSF community there is pretty healthy. Both in terms of size, queue times (relative to other servers) and attitudes. I was worried that the low population would have effects on the GSF community, but it doesn't. There aren't any poor sportsmen or venomous comments that I have ever seen. Yes, that's anecdotal, but at least it's coming from someone who plays there.
  10. clcooper- Just stop man. I know you got upset or felt bad about the way you were treated or whatnot, but the fact is this thread was started by devs to discuss specific ideas in buffing strikes themselves. Because this is a dev thread, they already have plenty of pages to go through without off-topic and what seems like personal posts. You also demonstrated that you don't understand many of the mechanics of the game, or the intricate inner workings and how they affect your ships as a whole. That's not a bad thing in itself, but when it comes to a thread about improving a specific portion of the game, the understanding of such intricacies is necessary. It sounds harsh, but they were right when they said that, without that knowledge, this thread is not a good place for you to voice concerns over mechanics. I wholeheartedly urge you to continue playing and learning the ins-and-outs. I'm no ace, and learn new things about ships/systems at least weekly. I love that about GSF. But right now your posts seem petty, retaliatory, and counter-productive in this thread. That's not meant to be offensive, but that is how it looks to others.
  11. Watching the recording of your stream of this... this would have been pretty fun to attend. Maybe if I get off of some of these overnights I can join you guys sometime. And the bomber/minefield games were awesome, lol
  12. Back to the OP's points (opinions?)... I've been playing GSF for a while now, but I'm no ace. I have a couple ships mastered on my main GSF toon (Celchu, pub, Shadowlands), but I just rolled a new toon last week on Bastion and decided to queue up for some solo matches... It may be anecdotal, but comparing my first games on Bastion last week with stock ships to my first games on Shadowlands... wow... It's not the gear. It's not the mastered ships, or the "teams of aces" going up against you... it's skill and experience. I remembered how much it sucked when I first faceplanted into the GSF learning curve last year. I knew I would die a lot starting from scratch on Bastion and was preparing to just grind it out a bit until I had the req to start making some builds... But it turns out I was surprising myself getting in the top 5 of each match with stock ships (mainly scouts). This made me a believer for sure, and makes the stats of the aces that much more impressive. It's not their upgrades (though they can give an edge), it's skill.
  13. BST is summer, and is currently active "BST begins at 01:00 GMT on the last Sunday of March and ends at 01:00 GMT (02:00 BST) on the last Sunday of October."
  14. Those look great, thanks! I was familiar with Mr. Robot from WoW, but there I really only used it to optimize gear, not as an item database. Wasn't even aware they had that utility available.
