  1. Also, I have a Cathar Sentinel named "MEOWMOTO MUSASHI". I'm not giving up that name for nothing. I don't care who it offends or what "rule" it breaks. It's my name. I claimed it. I thought of it. Report it all you want. I'll find a way to keep it.

Personally I like it, and I hope you get to keep it! :)

  2. Look at this.

Pay to Win in it's finest.

I really really wanted to get this game, but after watching that clip the other day it was so obvious how PTW it is. I'm going to see if they really are going to make changes or it's just the usual EA PR speak to placate the masses, get the sales, then put it all back in as it was.

Not sure how effective the boycott will be as a lot of people will probably buy EA's usual lies and go "Oh, well, they said they will change so I will buy it now". Yes, that's exactly what they want you to believe.

I hope they do make meaningful changes, but with EA's track record, yeah right.

  3. I don't get this. Why are most of these people... morons? What's up with them? Why must these people fill up the chat with nonsense, hate-speech and controversy? Don't people have better things to do?

Might be a bit different if there was a legacy wide ignore system. As it stands now there is little repercussion for having characters specifically designed as troll toons.

I don't think I've really looked at Fleet chat since the merger, day one was bad enough lol. Now I ignore it for the most part unless something catches my eye.

  4. Apart from no longer being able to enjoy the game, this is what hurts the most. That EA doesn't really care if a loyal player continues or not. Their total indifference towards people who have supported them for years is pretty hard to take. I really understand the EA hate that exists in the gaming community now, and their reputation is well deserved. They will get no further business from me.

I will be very sorry to see so many fellow APAC players leave. It is quite appalling the indifference EA shows towards gamers, but that seems to be par for the course for them.

I haven't tried any pvp, but I count myself as lucky that my ping has only gone up about 50-120 odd and I can still play without too much delay. I am, however, very saddened by those that were hit much harder.

I hope you all may give the game another try down the line, see if anything magical may have happened, but I totally understand your decision to leave, and to be honest support it. The callous disregard and indifference EA / BW has shown for this matter, not to mention their very obvious lie by omission of the closing down of the West Coast server is quite disgusting.

When this game does finally get sunsetted I will be very interested to see if someone "in the know" does a John Smedley and shows exactly how they managed to **** up ANOTHER Star Wars game. An IP that SHOULD be a license to print money. And by that I mean a blow by blow factual detailing of the mess the game is in now.

  5. Excuse me? Do you play from where I live? Or is this "knowledge" limited to what Wikipedia tells you?

OwenBrooks is one of the most knowledgeable and helpful people I have ever seen on these forums. I have seen him help countless people with tech problems over the years. If there was someone I could recommend to give you advice on this matter and many others, it would be him.

My advice is to be polite and play nice if he is offering help.

    My 2¢

  6. Brisbane player here.

Previous pings were between 150-170. Currently between 226-286, with fluctuations into the very high 300's.

It is still playable for me, but i'm lucky. My friends who live in the outer areas and hinterlands are probably going to be seeing much much higher pings. Sadly I think they will just go "Bugger this", cancel and move on.

Not sure why you chose the "We won't tell them what we've done, we'll make it a fun game and see if they can guess what we did!" approach. Maybe there were a few wagers placed, maybe a drinking game you thought up? Or why tell the truth when it's so easy to do what you always do, lie to the player base and make up **** weak excuses.

Not happy about the obfuscation pulled on us, but i'm not surprised. I'm sure there will be more and more cost cutting exercises in the future, we just happened to be an acceptable loss to the bean counters.

What is strangely absent is a certain poster who would be having an absolute field day trolling the many threads that have popped up. Oh where oh where can my little troll have gone?

  7. I speak Aussie, I can’t understand those damn pommies 😉

You forgot to add "bloody whingeing" before "pommies".

After all, it is an Australian thing. ;):D

*PS: I only have sincere love for Poms. They are damn fine people with a beautiful country and music that has shaped my entire life. :D

  8. 70 million :sy_auction: for Anarchy and Mischief

I'd monitored the GTN for weeks and it had stayed at 70-100 million :sy_auction: or higher.

Literally the day after i'd bought it I saw it listed for 44 million :sy_auction:

    /Le sigh....

Same as the Monocycle. I'd been saving and watching the GTN for ages. Finally plopped down 40 million and took it home. One week later the pack it was from was brought back for sale and the prices plummeted lol.

    Ah well.

I like them them both. :D

Now I don't buy anything and wait for packs to come back or direct sale items. Bugger paying a fortune for items that will come back waaaaaay cheaper.

  10. Hey I came back to the game about a month ago after a year or so away. I remember VIVIDLY that the Armor in these two packs dropped as FULL SETS... Now I see them hit the Cartel Market without any mention of any sort of change, I buy a Hypercrate, start opening them and I am left in literal shock... Not one full set... Instead replacing the full sets are INDIVIDUAL PIECES???!!!! SERIOUSLY???!!! How can you NOT tell the community that these ARE NOT the same packs they were when they debuted???!! I submitted a ticket for a refund but to me if you as a company are going to bring back old packs, which is awesome, THEN BRING THEM BACK AS THEY ORIGINALLY WERE!!! Not this penny pinching one armor piece GARBAGE!

From memory those packs dropped the Upper, Lower and Supplementary boxes of certain armours and individual pieces of the "ultra rare" armour sets.

I've never ever known those packs to drop complete sets. I still have individual pieces of the Temple Guardian set floating around, multiples of bracers, boots etc that I couldn't sell for love nor money.

I could be wrong but I honestly don't think they ever dropped complete sets. That's why those hypercrates were such a gamble. :(

  11. The Only Thing Necessary for the Triumph of Evil is that Good Men Do Nothing

A little melodramatic for this situation but the intent is clear.

Do or say nothing and nothing changes.

I know where you're coming from and I have to say, frankly, you've been pretty tolerant of the abuse heaped your way. If the set was given just for being a friend of a Bioware employee then yes I could easily empathise with people that would be a tad miffed, and rightly so.

For me I am not bothered. I don't know her, she seemed really chuffed to get the set, and seeing how happy she was to receive the gift made me smile.

If something were to come from this, if it was in fact a Bioware employee giving a mate a freebie, then I would hope that they would then start doing this to random people on the servers as a gesture of goodwill. Heck if I saw someone post in fleetchat "Omg I just got this 'insert random gift' from Bioware, What the Frack???" I'd think that was bloody awesome! :D

  12. Thee isn't much to be done about it but what this game doesn't need with all it's other issues is nepotism thrown on top of it. That is a perfectly valid reason to be at odds with this and exactly what this is. No community needs that.

So, I'll be disagreeing with you here.

I would be very naive to think that nepotism, whether rampant or isolated cases, isn't a part of pretty much any online game.

Life is not fair and often in game it is exactly that.

I am sure there are people that have committed every exploit in this game and managed to keep their ill gotten gains each time with a very minor slap on the wrist.

I am sure there are more than 1 or 2 people who are fabulously wealthy now because they bought gold farming currency way back in the day and used that initial capital to build their current wealth.

As a paying grunt who is not a blip on the Bioware team's radar I just go '"meh" and go about my daily activities.

'IF' this is a case of nepotism then there is nothing you can do about it but move on.

Again, life is not fair. /shrug

  13. Wow playing favorites much?

Must be nice to be handed something so sought-after on a silver platter.

"Friends" at Bioware really pay off huh.

I think it was wonderful she got an armour set she had obviously desired! :)

Whether knowing someone at Bioware got her a freebie spawned set or her friend bought it for her and thought it would be cool to have Keith give it to her I don't think matters too much. How she got the set doesn't bother me in the slightest, and I paid for my set, albeit when it first came out and wasn't the price it is today.

She was genuinely thrilled to bits and to me that is what matters. The look of happiness on her face made the gesture totally worthwhile.

Enjoy your armour, it is a great set! :D

  14. Well you won't be getting any *bronze* Items from this and all upcoming CM-Pack anymore because the Devs won't release anymore of those within the packs... There will be only *silver*, *gold* and *platinum* Items with *silver* Item droping as often as *bronze* Items did before...

    Best regards

    Kage

I consider the 26 Chance Cubes you now get as basically bronze items, as that's pretty much the only rarity I get when I open them.

I opened 3 packs with 600cc I had spare and got one of the new orange dye combinations this pack contains. It was an orange / black with a gold rarity symbol. So it seems the pool of items you have listed on Dulfy's site for this pack http://dulfy.net/2017/05/02/swtor-steadfast-champions-pack-preview/ will also be diluted with 8 orange dye combinations. http://dulfy.net/2017/05/01/swtor-upcoming-cartel-market-items-from-patch-5-2-1/#Dyes

    Exciting stuff!

  15. Thanks for the warning!

I was going to buy 3 hypercrates as a treat today but it sounds like the new formula is even worse than they previously were. No surprise there. They rarely change the formula with our benefit in mind even when they say so.

If the packs still contained Cartel Certificates or you could deconstruct the inevitable ridiculous amount of multiple copies of rubbish you can't even give away for something beneficial I would probably still buy them.

Now with an almost guaranteed 26 bronzes and even more chance to get duplicates of rubbish and less chance of anything good I think I will pass on anything but direct sales.

  16. The price is a little steep, but for people like me with abysmal luck with hypercrates and platinum items (I got a platinum Blue dye once.......yay me?) this is welcome.

I saved up and bought this saber when it first came out and I have no problem with it as a direct sale. Pop the Vented Lightsaber for direct purchase and I'd definitely buy it.

Interesting to see how successful this little experiment will be.

  17. Sure, except, it isn't true...

The Revenge Pack and the Gemini Pack have the same number of items, 4 per pack... 2 random drops, 1 gift, 1 scrap...

The Plunderer Pack and Visionary Pack are likewise 4 items, same item allotment.

What is sad is that people keep paying even when being lied right to their face... :(

From what I can gather they increased the price because they can and tried to obfuscate it in a meandering explanation that, to me, could be condensed to "We raised the price because we felt like it and if we give some ******** excuse you'll lap it up and keep buying them."

I see no incoming change that necessitates a price increase with this shipment compared to the last one. Same amount of items I can see but with a price hike. At least have the balls to just say you increased the price because you wanted to, not some waffle that deliberately tries to mislead your customers.

That's just my take on it and I very well may be misinterpreting what he has said and be completely wrong. /shrug

  18. As far as I can see, this is your point:

You're totally fine with being cheated by a stealth rule change announced after the contest is over. And as you feel that way, everyone else should too, including folks that actually put time/effort into this.

    Do I have it correct?

She came into the thread to troll you.

    /waiting or the lawsuits. :p

    See the ':p'?

That's generally the sign that she / he / whatever is about to have some fun at your expense.

I'll leave what TUX said for your perusal.

Some people only post here to antagonize, bully and belittle others.
  19. woo woo hundreds of thousands.......... um no not even a 1/16th of that pay to play swtor.

the absolutely did create this new direction for the players they took this direction because they look the path of least to make the most during a slow extension of what some call maintance mode. for most games that means no content and just keeping the game going for a few months to year or so. for eaware they want to milk as much cash from the player as they possible are capable of doing. every part of what swtor is now is designed with making maximum profit from little to no work. example of this you ust have to run the newest chapter and see a zone that was not new just assets already in place from an op a couple years old. top it with a very short but weak story. i say weak because anytime a story teller has to show a wall of text before and after either pure words or a blowhard rant of recording the story was weak.

now for that CM it is and has become the real money maker of this game because people that pay into it are frankly just plain foolish. and that is being nice. some would say well if you dont buy into the cm you wont have a game. and guess what so be it. the game needs to be shuttered. and disney needs to see it shuttered and say hhhhmmm no thank you ea you botched yet another sw game and give our newest and biggest potential earning ipo say bye to licsence.

So everyone involved in working on this game deserves to lose their jobs because you're not happy with the direction your online hobby has taken?

That seems perfectly rational and acceptable to me.
