  1. It’s most likely guaranteed that story players put just as much if not more money into this game than end game players. Story players like to invest in their toons, which means buying things off the market… and if that is “big brain common sense” you’re using… keep it

I agree, in fact I am a story / solo player that has put ridiculous amounts of money into the game over 10 years. I'm saying that since it's the endgame people who have kept the lights on ( or so we keep getting told on these forums), let's put story / solo content as the free model of the game with zero restrictions.

I can then cancel my sub and keep doing what i've been doing for the last 10 years without having to pay for it. Well, except for my Cartel Market splurges.

  2. It's so cringe that some of you still believe that the "story player" is who keeps the lights on. The people who keep the lights on are people who sub and, more importantly, people who spend in the Cartel Market. The guy who is on his 50th alt on Tython that he'll quit before he reaches Taris isn't funding the game.

Just because you don't raid or do GSF or PvP doesn't mean that the game isn't "for" the people who do. Remember KOTFET? Remember when they went all in on "solo story players"? Remember what happened? The game nearly died because "there is no end game" and "there is nothing to do" and "what is the point of subbing?" The game had a huge, HUGE influx of players due to the marketing of KOTFE, and after they ran through the story they left. Sound familiar? Yes, that's because it was a repeat of the game's launch.

As for the story, yeah, it's good, and personally I loved the story of Zakuul and the Emperor, but look at Legacy of the Sith. It's probably the worst story update we have ever received. I mean, it's dreadful. Absolutely dreadful. Running around the sterile hallways of Manaan clicking on kolto tanks feels like a level 30 mission I might have done back in 2012.

People aren't going to sub for this. They aren't going to stay subbed for this. They aren't going to whale for this.

I agree 100%, story people aren't keeping the lights on, it's the endgame players.

In fact, I think they should eliminate free to play and preferred and put all endgame content behind the subscription and keep all story / solo activities provided free. Experiencing the story without any restrictions will pull people in and they will be happy to stay and pay for endgame, ops, pvp, gsf, flashpoints etc because they are obviously the majority and have kept the lights on.

That way all those story players who never subscribe or buy anything from the cartel market won't have a leg to stand on if they don't like something, you're getting it for free, don't complain. Then Bioware can focus their resources purely for endgame, because that is so obviously where the majority of the players who keep the lights on are.

It's just big brain common sense.

  3. I’m still trying to be optimistic but I’m finding the game, for me at least, is full of tedious combat, and my only goal at the moment is finishing Season 2 and playing new toons.

I used to log in on multiple characters (up to 10-12) to do conquest each week to grind for endgame sets. Now I really have no motivation to grind for vendor trash greens. I removed the majority of my active characters from the guilds I was in as I have very little motivation to do conquest.

I hope you guys can bring the fun back to the game because at the moment I’m not getting much joy from the activities I used to do that kept me playing for hours and hours each week. Maybe cancelling my sub and taking a break for a while until I see where this debacle ends up is the thing to do.

I never thought the 10th Anniversary would kill my want to play SWTOR, but it really has. I’m not angry, just disappointed.

7.0 is a foundational update to the game. The fundamental refactoring of all abilities and Advanced Classes into Combat Styles, the addition of the long-requested Loadouts feature, and the beginnings of new UI/UX and Itemization constitute the most significant systemic changes made to SWTOR since launch. These are only the first steps toward the ambitious and inspiring vision we have for SWTOR's future. We are excited to continue bringing this vision to life in the ongoing updates and additions coming to the game this year and beyond. More story will be coming including new locations to explore, a PvP revamp, and more visual and modernization improvements are also underway. It was always intended that 7.0 would receive multiple updates in 2022 and beyond to celebrate ten years of SWTOR.

Sorry if I missed it, but what exactly is the "Vision™". The things you say are upcoming look pretty good, but what is the overal Vision™ for the game and who does it include? Is it more content for all playstyles to work towards an end game or is this like Anthem 2.0 which is just something to say to keep people subscribing?

Not trying to be hostile here, for once i'm trying to be optimistic, but I have no idea where you want to take the game.

  5. Hey folks,

Quick update on one of the features slated to launch with Legacy of the Sith; Weapons being added to Outfitter. Unfortunately, this feature will not be shipping alongside the expansion and instead will be coming in Game Update 7.1.

We have made this decision due to the feature not being ready for PTS testing this week; it is important to us that we get your thoughts on it before it goes in-game, especially since we know how excited everyone is to see it come to life in SWTOR (as are we!). You shouldn’t have to wait too long before seeing it though! Our goal is to get 7.1’s PTS started in February; we're currently targeting the week before, or the week after 7.0’s launch.

Thank you for your patience. We know you are just as eager as we are to enjoy this added level of character customization!

    Okie dokie.

  6. They want you to remove the buff. If you remove the buff they can get another chance at a parcel. If you leave the buff on, it'll annoy them more, since they want as many people as possible to throw snowballs at. They can't get a parcel from someone that they already hit with a snowball who has that buff.

Well bugger me lol, that will teach me to try and be smart without any research! Cheers for that! :D

  7. Click to remove the buff as soon as it lands, It cancels the effect and if it's a troll it annoys them. I had a guy follow me for an hour throwing snowballs, cancelling buff, rinse and repeat. He started whispering me more and more to stop cancelling his snowballs, even got pretty descriptive about it. Amused the hell out of me.

Would be nice to have a rakghoul stim equivalent for it though, or an item. Heck give the user a title of "Party Pooper" when it cancels "x" amount of snowballs. I'd use it just for that alone.

  8. Mr. Kanneg: "We have a vision for the next few years."

Fan: "The game will be around for many years."

The next few years does not equal many years. At the moment - even his news! - reads more like they're wrapping things up. Just look at the quote: Nothing specific whatsoever was mentioned. Only empty marketing-speech. He's been talking about "exciting updates" all the time. Where are they? A 2-minute-cutscene every 6 months or so?

Where are the 10 years celebrations? Where is the joy? Where is the fun? They weren't even able to include the new anniversary gifts to the vendor. I ask you fellow players: What did/do we players get for their 10 years anniversary? What about us players who have funded this game without a break for 10 years? Not even another droid-pet or deco. Or an e-mail from the devs. Nothing! That's the reality of this game. Stop praising them for an empty marketing letter and one thread in this forum.

I think it's telling that the 10 years anniversary happens only here in a forum thread, started by the employee who is the shortest in the team. Mr. Musco? You have any anniversary-words for us? Mr. Boyd, how about you? Are you there? 10 years. With nothing but silence. What a shame.

Did anything happen in-game on 20th December 2021? I didn't notice anything, except some things that some players or guilds organised. Was there maybe an announcer on the fleet mentioning something? A news on the launcher "Today marks our 10th anniversary! Hooray." A character appearing in the fleet's cantina, spreading anniversary joy? No? Oh well. How could have a casual player known that it was the 10th anniversary? He couldn't.

I'm all for giving thanks and praises when they are due. In this case, I can unfortunately only conclude that they COMPLETELY botched their 10 years anniversary. No one can claim otherwise. And they know it. That's why they've been so quiet about it.

At this point, I wouldn't be surprised if they already know an end-date. Nothing that happens (or doesn't happen) at the moment points to BW being in a healthy state anymore.

What is the most memorable Swtor-thing for me? I think it's the big exploit of winter 2014 which they didn't fix until 2 months later or so, and then it was too late, because the damage was already done. It started the inflation you still see today.

Really well written and succinct, I have nothing else to say but "well put".

  9. I started a new Agent and did heroics to get to level 75 before starting my class mission. I wanted to save this character for the expansion so I could choose the Commando spec as I've always wanted an Imperial heavy trooper. Not having a ship though has made me impatient so I am doing the class mission to at least get that and make travel easier.

Very excited by the thought of having multiple specs on characters!

  10. Where are the new players coming from?? And if we lose 10-20% of current players because of the bad design choices in 7.0, BioWare will need even more new players if they plan on building up the player base if 10-20% leave. Something that ChrisS often says on Discord is their goal. So why actively drive paying players away if your goal is to improve the population numbers? How is that logical?

Because if you get rid of the players that aren't part of your vision for the game and start to attract those that are, then you can put out more content for a less diverse group of playstyles, making life easier on the devs.

I'm going to reserve my judgement once it all goes live, there are things I am excited for and some much less so, but I think they have a goal in mind, and I don't think any hubbub on forums that were abandoned a while ago for Discord will change their mind.

If it sucks i'll leave, if it's awesome i'll stay, and I think they will have taken into account players they will lose vs players they want to attract with this expansion and that's set in stone.

    I'll wait and see.

For once i'm going to be optimistic.

  11. I couldn't catch the full spelling of a semi-complicated name... no other reason. Getting a bit old I guess. :hope_08:

Not to be nit picky, and you are absolutely not obliged to help if you're busy, but isn't their name in the chat log and you just right click it to bring up several options including whisper? Even after you port the chat log still has the person asking for help.

  12. I'll preface this post by apologising to the teams i'm get put on to finish my dailies and weekly PO, I suck something awful and wether I try or not I am a hindrance to you winning the match.

However, since I either keep doing this (constantly getting unranked or GS as Weeklies and Dailies) and keep losing or use Cartel Coins to complete my season then I am sorry but i'll take the losing matches and annoying people. You can thank the particular developer that wanted to pad his numbers by forcing pvp on purely pve people like myself.

You can say I have a choice to not do it, but like I said, spend CC or do something I don't want to do, i'll keep my coins thanks. I'm late to seasons so I need to maximise my daily and weekly point accumulation. I hope for all our sakes that next season they don't again try to pad their GS and PvP numbers on paper by forcing (yes, forcing, i'm not spending coins to unlock levels, and everytime I reroll I get GS or PvP) people to play content they absolutely don't want to do.

Again, sorry to the people whose teams I get placed on but I either annoy you or spend CC, so remember to thank the people responsible. Luckily I only have to do 1 or 2 matches a day and 3 total per week.

  13. The same as some people have open world pvp achievements done when all they did was get people to login on the other side and let themselves be killed. Where as all of my open world pvp achievements were earnt doing actual open world pvp. No short cuts.

The game has changed, evolved or devolved. It’s not the same game we were playing 9 years ago or even 2 years ago, let alone when these space missions were added.

Exactly, you know you earnt your achievements on your own merit and should take pride in that.

There used to be a time when i'd marvel at some of the rare mounts and titles, but now with win trading, people buying raid runs from third party sites (especially for rewards that were for a limited period) or from the forums and whatever other means people have used to circumvent in game challenge I see a rare mount and go "meh". Doesn't bother me that they have it, it just no longer has any "wow nice!" impact on me.

Not that my opinion carries any weight in the slightest, nor the owner of said item should give a toss. Like you say, the game has evolved or devolved and certainly isn't the same game we started playing 9 years ago, it is what it is.

  14. Not sure why some people are hung up on other people getting achievements they feel they didn't earn.

There are quite a few people that got extremely difficult raidng achievements by doing nothing more than paying a progression raid group to do it for them while they ate a sandwich and watched tv. Doesn't bother me that they didn't "earn" their rewards in any other way than paying people off, whatever makes you happy. /shrug

  15. that 6.1 is going to be the last big update to the game, and that maintenance mode is coming. welp, it had a good run boys! maybe the next SW mmo will be even better!

As long as it's not made by those clowns over at Blizzard. I don't think J Allen Brack's paps can take anymore rubbing while he says "Sorry, we'll try to do better, sorrrryyyy" *rub rub pinch*

  16. So looks like this is true

    https://blog.bioware.com/2020/02/10/anthem-update-february-10/

I wonder how many resources again have been pulled from SWTOR to make this happen

I think that's great news for the 5 or 6 people that still play the game, but I think Anthem is truly dead in the water and it's a waste of resources.

After the launch they had, and then the story Jason Schreier published about the games development, then the complete scrapping of the roadmap, then the exodus of people from Bioware, I think you'd be a fool to believe them.

Does anyone really want to see an Anthem 2.0?

    I mean really?

    Really?

To quote The Simpsons: "Stop, Stop! He's already dead!"

  17. Looking to purchase the 3rd Anniversary Artwork (all of them) and the 3rd Anniversary Fireworks Launcher!

Not sure on how much they are normally worth, but if I can find a seller, I may need a few days to gather up the credits (depending on how many items are being sold to me, and for how much).

    Thanks! <3

I have 10 of each of the 3rd Anniversary Artworks, 10 of the 3rd Anniversary Fireworks Launchers and 10 of the 3rd Anniversary Galactic Memorials in my legacy bank. Shoot me a pm if you like :)

They are not bound as far as I can tell, I got them during the 3rd Anniversary event and have kept them unused since then.
