  1. Yeah, I can get a lot of medals... by poaching kills deliberately in the middle of healing. Otherwise nope
  2. Why? We don't get any recognition for what we do, seeing as we don't make near as many medals as people who focus on kills... which means the people at the top of the medal list (aka people with kills) are almost always going to win the MVP votes. I mean hell, the enemy team gives you more recognition by wanting you to be the first person to DIE. We don't get nearly as many medals as the people we're keeping alive, or for the enemies we CC We have a 50/50 shot at taking the blame for losses (the other 50% being the people on the team who don't "Omg focus their healers"). I love healing, and I really wanna continue to do it but... unless you go with your own guild group or what have you... pugs don't even acknowledge your existence no matter how much you completely negate their efforts to kill you or your teammates because of how the medal system works. So, after the rant, whine, cry more, whatever you want to call this. My suggestion is to please overhaul how healers earn medals in warzones in relation to how "killers" earn medals in warzones.
  3. I don't claim to know what bioware or any other company does or doesn't do behind the scenes, you shouldn't either I'm well aware of the short term cash flow (your exaggerated numbers aside) they generate, and it's still nothing compared to what they could generate over the long term of splitting it apart. It's like the difference between the lump sum of the lottery winnings or payment over time, ironically.
  4. So to clarify... you know who bioware employees are, their credentials, and that they're knowingly and openly attempting to get people addicted to buying lottery boxes with extremely small chances of giving the people what they want because those few people make them enough money to justify such an underhanded tactic? Is that pretty much what you're saying?
  5. I don't know how much EA honestly lords over companies like that, but that's still an amusing analogy
  6. You seem to assume the single items like sets of armor and mounts and so forth in the cartel market are not also impulse buys. Explain to me the negatives of splitting up the lottery boxes, complete with data and examples of why it's negative. I'll wait. Impulse buys on lottery boxes is short term, because soon after the rush, the market is flooded with these items... and thus their cash flow abruptly ends because people no longer have to use CC (because the few that did are now dumping tons of stuff in the market that they didn't want) to -maybe- get what they can 100% with credits. I never denied that lottery boxes make them money in the short term, I said it won't make them even close to as much money over the long term. You're right though, I'm not thinking corporate, I'm thinking TRULY exploiting the public through a cash shop where you would have to pay even -more- if you wanted things that would normally come in a cash shop lottery box, minus the RNG involved.
  7. I'm glad you're here Xu. You're saying pretty much everything I want to say but don't have the eloquence or technical term knowledge to do so with =P
  8. That data would be impossible to gather, much like passing a law to deter crime IRL and trying to gauge how much that particular law then deterred crime other than guesses. Therefore, it's not worth discussing the notion of such data.
  9. I bolded this section for emphasis. It's precisely for this reason that lottery boxes are ineffective in the long term, and ultimately don't satisfy the majority of people (aside from gambling junkies). Impulse buys have nothing to do with lottery boxes. If you put that awesome skiff mount (or the throne, or the hoverbucket etc)by itself in the cartel market... it would sell like hotcakes, much like the pod racer does now, just as a small example.
  10. Precisely Even at lower cartel coin costs, they would still make much larger profits because more people would be comfortable in buying the coins knowing they will get what they paid for.
  11. It's simple business. The lottery works because people do it in hopes of profit. Lottery boxes have absolutely nothing to do with profit, it's all about items that you, personally, want. Very few going to blindly spend wads of cash on coins more than once and get burned constantly, when they could purchase coins constantly, buying the items they want time and time again without fear that they are wasting their money. This isn't supposed to be a RL investment, where you can be burned because you put your money in the wrong stock. It's supposed to be entertainment, vanity. Angry people buy less and tend to go elsewhere to some other game. I'm not going to quit the game because their money grabbing efforts are ineffective, I'm just not going to pay them money. That's the entire point of this thread. I want to be happy. I want them to make money. Where's the negative? As a great man once put it.. SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY
  12. The hamsters would be eating better than you if they followed my suggestion. Troll more
  13. I'm tired of lottery boxes in MMO cash shops. They're obviously cash grabs (Specially these "deals" with the 24 packs in them. Who do you think you're fooling?), and they do a decent job at it. But you know what would make you even more money in the long term? Taking everything out of those boxes and selling them separately for varying prices. I'd gladly open my wallet to pay for more things if I didn't have to sit there and worry about "Hmm... I wonder how many paychecks I will have to spend to get the item I want -THIS- time." Yes, I can buy them from the GTM later... but how exactly does that make you money? Answer: It doesn't. The end result is you'll just be selling less and less of these things as time goes on (ultimately resulting in even more pissed off people when they either can't get the things they want on the GTM, or the prices are so ridiculously high because they are in such high demand) No, all you do with lottery boxes is make a little bit of money in the short term, and piss a whole bunch of people off in the process (I'm not even going to bother mentioning this whole debacle with the rep. You know what you did). So, in summation, please, pretty please with a cherry on top... I'm begging you to stop with the lottery boxes. You're just pushing people away day by day trying to make money on things that you'd make -far- more money on if you just put them out there on their own... and you'd make everyone so much happier. Thank you.
