  1. Thanks. I thought the point requirements were 'per tier' but it seems they are actually for the entire tree... makes sense now.
  2. Sorry the text I quoted maybe confused what I was getting at: Jet Speed and Firestorm are the two talents that I HAVE to take no matter what. both those tiers have only 5 points so I have to take Jet Speed to advance past that tier and Firestorm for the next tier... no way around it. (check it on torhead.com it you're unsure.) Given that, the only point I would be able to reallocate is the one I have in Neural Overload, so my question remains: Which is better: Hyper Fuel or Iron Fist? My guess would be Hyper Fuel, but I posted here to see if there is some reason why Iron Fist is better even though it only affects one ability.
  3. My understanding was that I have to have 5 points in a tier to advance. In both cases, I have to fill the whole tier out to get 5 points. For Neural overload, I could take that point out and use it for Hyper Fuel and still have 5 for the tier. The point of that though is it's an additional chance to slow targets without actually having to hit extra buttons and I thought that was a good thing...
  4. Just dinged 55 a couple days ago on my Shield tech, and have been following the spec advice on Noxxic. For the most part the talents they selected seem pretty reasonable, but I was puzzled by one thing: they recommend putting 2 points into Iron Fist (Pyotech tree) to increase damage from Rocket Punch by 8%. This is fine as far as it goes, but Rocket Punch is one ability and it has a 9s CD. There is a talent in the Shield tech tree (tier 2) called Hyper Fuel that with 2 points invested would give me 4% more damage on all fire effects, so at the very least this will boost Flame Burst/Flame Sweep (no CD, lowers damage from the target and snares for Flame Sweep) and Flamethrower (18s CD, but I have Flame Engine, which can finish the CD on this when triggered). I find myself using all 3 of these abilities frequently, whereas Rocket Punch has the CD (though sometimes it gets reset by Hydraulic Shield), so is only used when it's available: I do try to use it as much as I can when in melee range. My sense is that 2 points in Hyper Fuel would be better than 2 points in Iron Fist, but I figured it's better to ask people with more experience since I am just starting out. TIA for advice and pointers.
  5. Two things to consider: Risha uses cunning as her main stat, which makes it easier to keep her gear updated (she can use your hand-me-downs) Akaavi is melee DPS, which means once she finishes with one target she has to run to the next. Risha is ranged so she doesn't have to move unless there is some sort of line-of -sight issue.
  6. Why all the hate? As healers go, I find him a LOT less annoying than Tharan Cedrax... He makes occasional comments when I pass him on my ship but out running missions, he keeps his mouth shut and does his job. With C2-N2, I don't have to hear "Did I mention I'm a pacifist?" ever again... or any of Tharan's other inane comments. Besides, his voice sounds eerily like Robin Williams' in Bicentennial Man, one of my favorite movies based on my favorite Isaac Asimov story.
