  1. Lvl 30 Dirty fighting scoundrel here. Placed third in WZ last night. Loving the change now. WHen it first went live I think something was wrong with the WZs and I got completely rolled along with each of my teams by lvl 50s. There were great complaints. Yesterday was much, much different and now I'm looking at leveling my scoundrel all the way up. What do you think is a good spec now for DF?
  2. Ok, after looking at the replies and fooling around with alts some more, I finally realized something, the dirty fighting scoundrel is more versatile than my shadow or other toons. That versatility makes it harder to play because each setting calls for different strategies and tools. So I changed up my tactics to that of a range fighter that can use close combat to escape or finish a fight not stand toe to toe. I also started from range, when I could, from cover. Results, I got my highest score and most kills ever. (Guess those dots did more dmg than I thought!) I was surprised to notice no one attacking me while I was in cover as it is on my gunslinger. First I thought they were ignoring me because they know scoundrels don't do much dmg. Then I realized they were ignoring me because the saber wielders like to leap at you and they can't do that from crouch. Also I was afforded some protection from range by cover. This allowed me in certain instances to pump out the dmg. But this is a versatile class so that doesn't work in close quarters. For that, I am learning to stick and move. At 29, I don't try to takle someone in PVP by myself, although I just got a complete solo kill in Huttbal by disappearing and reappearing behind the target with a kick, shotgun, and slap. What I've learned as a low level pvp dirty fighter: 1. Use crouch at range to make them come to you while you pump out dmg on multiple players 2. don't fight anyone at low level toe to toe. Help other using your cc and backblast 3. You are versatile use stealth strategically, not as your main strength 4. In close quarters stay mobile and keep the pressure on with multiple foes while assisting other classes. 5. You can heal. Question: What counts as an "incapacitated" target? I have dirty kicked, blinded, and dotted plenty of people but I am still not able to use head shot. I have even been right behind them and its not showed up. How do you get it to pop?
  3. I have a 14 Shadow and 28 scoundrel specced dirty fighting. I actually do Better in PVP with my Shadow than with my scoundrel!?!? It seems that my shadow, which I have not played much, has more survivability even though he only has light armor while my scoundrel feels much more squishy. This doesn't seem fair since I have several more ways to do things on my scoundrel and he has medium armor, ear piece, implants and relics. Is this common? Would speccing scrapper make a difference? I mostly stealth in and target someone who is getting hit or stealth to an objective to take it. using this style with both, I have more survivability on my shadow. Any thoughts? Suggestions. Should I play a shadow?
  4. Is Gunslinger the least played class in the game? I see few of them and I also wonder how useful groups feel they are. I have a 20 scoundrel and I see few of them but people seem to want the healing we can bring. However, I decided to roll up a gunslinger because I like the cover mechanic and I like the utility of the class. I don't like being the main healer and without healing, the scoundrel class just seems awkward. I am playing the DF tree in scoundrel and I'm not sure what its supposed to be. I shoot from range but all my good stuff is in melee range. But when I look at the gunslinger, it seems to make so much more sense. Am I missing something? I mostly solo and play in short bursts but will I be sorry for going with the advanced class that doesn't have healing and just dmg and utility? Shadrir
  5. Actually that is what I was inferring about the scoundrel and vanguard. They both offer abilities consigned to support claasses but that is not their direct role. I like the range dmg, guard, dps debuff, etc on vanguard and I like the off heal, cc, and dmg potential of scoundrel. I also have an 11 commando that I put on hold but may need to reconsider. However, right now I'm looking at a dps vanguard with liberal use of guard, debuffs, cc to off tank and support. I'm also looking at dps scoundrel with a dot or at least who pays attention to need for back up heals.
  6. I have been playing MMO's since Everquest. I usually play non healing support like Enchanter, Bard, Verdant Animist(all time favorite bubble spammer), Coercer, Dominator, and Druid, Shaman from WoW. I love supporting my team either through debuffs, buffs, bubbles that prevent damage or reactives that increase damage, and cc. I am looking for 'my class' in swtor but the classes seem to play differently. I have a 17 Scoundrel that is fun so far. I like his utility in Pve but I don't want to be a main healer in Pve or PvP so I'm not sure about him. I surprisinly like my 15 Vanguard tank because he has range and several debuffs that you normally find on support. I normally don't like to tank but he is interesting so far. I thought the sage bubble spec would be a no brainer for me but I really don't like the small range on Jedis plus at lvl 11, I don't have the bubble yet and I get creamed standing and healing or doing project at 30 range. I still think I will lvl him to 14 to get the bubble and try it out but I have been underwhelmed so far. I like Scoundrel and Vanguard better for now. Which class can best bring non healing support to the team. I don't mind some healing but I don't want to be main heal. Shadrir
  7. I'm a newb at swtor. I have 14 vanguard, 13 shadow, 11 commando, and 13 scoundrel. I'm trying to figure out which one to make my main. I like all but the commando. I like shadow but it has limited range. I am a veteran gamer who usually plays non healing support characters so I gravitated to the scoundrel but I'm having trouble pvping. I am trying to heal and its a disaster. I do better just trying to kill stuff but not much better. Is it just the level I'm on or is there strategy I'm missing? Also, I don't want to be a main healer but that seems to be what people recommend. I want to be a utility/do a that can heal when mh needs help. I want to help my team with do a, rebuffs, and whatever it takes.
  8. I don't mind the crounching. In fact, I like not getting hit. It seems strange on my commando to just stand there and take damage after playing the scoundrel. However, Nearly both of my bars are full on the scoundrel and I'm just eleven. whereas things are simpler so far on my commando. I'll see how things go. I heard that scoundrel is a rare class. I don't see why so far. They seem fairly easy except for the number of abilities to manage. I like that novelty but I like the 'feel' of the commando class and story for me. Im leaning commando right now and I will take him up to at least the level of my scoundrel. I would apprecialte any tips for either of the classes.
  9. I'm torn between the two classes. I have 11 scoundrel and 8 commando that I plan to make healers/utility. Which to choose? I really like the playstyle of the scoundrel but don't like all of the skills/keys to be mapped. I like the abilities but there are so many to be used. Its silly, but I also don't like the demeanor of the dialogue for scoundrel. Its entertaining but I cant get into it. I like the commando but I really miss cover and the quickness of the scoundrel kills. I got to 11 before I even left the planet. However, I'm just eight on the commando. I DO like the dialogue on him. How do these play at higher levels? How are they different? I like support but I'm not a 'power gamer' who will map extra keys or has a fancy mouse. Casual player just wanted to have fun and help people with heals and cc. Shadrir
