Wow, didn't know this, I've been deleting my oranges while leveling for this reason. =X
However, isn't there a +armor stat that is static to the level of the orange? I guess that wouldn't really matter much because people here seem adamant on keeping their lower level oranges...
Higher level moddable gear has the same base armor as low level moddable gear. The rating of the armor mod in the slot is what determines the armor. I am not sure about armor type, light vs heavy etc, social armor is all light, how bad does that gimp a tank who is using it?

Sorry I should re-word my post...
I'm asking if there are more mod slots in the higher level orange gear.
EX1) Level 10 orange robe has 2 possible gem slots.
EX2) Level 50 orange robe has 4 possible gem slots.
Nope, all moddable armor has the same 3 slots.
Unless you crit theoretically, then it could have an augment slot, not sure tho

Didn't work for me either. Funny thing is when I try to close Steam, it gives me error saying that the Launcher.exe is still running and it can't close steam because of it. This is after I quite the game. Which could mean the cmd file did its job in keeping the launcher going, but the overlay just didn't take?
all the workaround is doing is running a background program that runs the launcher and then sits there, its not going to allow the overlay to work. It's basically to trick steam into showing you being in the game.

Bit of a nooby question here, I know, but what's the deal with armour ratings on orange gear? I've got a really nice chest piece I'd like to keep but because I found it on Dromund Kaas it's a low level, around 150 for armour. If I mod it, will my armour rating increase because at the moment I'm having to wear a horrible looking effort because it's armour rating is double that of my orange? I'm spending a lot of time and monies on crafting so I can make the best available mods but will it, in the end, have an effect on armour rating, or am I going to have an orange piece with ridiculously high strength and endurance but it's armour rating still stuck at 150ish?
The Armor mod on moddable gear determines the armor rating. Much like the hilt or barrel of weapons determines the damage.

Can crafting orange gear crit and get an augment slot? Havent seen this yet.

Try running steam as administrator. Since swtor runs as administrator other, non-administrator, programs can not break through

Should be the first post on page 3. It seems only people on XP can use it on steam without jumping through hoops like we do.
I was super excited until I saw that the overlay still does not work hehe. Still will probably do it tho, thanks for the link

Hm, I had already done what you suggested, but after the launcher closes do does my status in Steam- along with the overlay. I can't run the SWTOR.exe directly as it wants me to use the launcher.
So, because technically the launcher is it's own program, it doesn't work for me. :/

Same here, windows 7 as well. Its odd cuz I am pretty sure I had it working during one of the beta weekends using this technique. I remember thinking it was interesting that steam recognized that the launcher launching the game, was in fact the same game. Well now it doesnt hehe.

I <3 mod system. I have had the same consistent look for well over 13 levels now and have kept my Black Talon top since level 10 when I got it. I am level 30 now and have the top and bottom robe I want. All I need is some moddable shoes and gloves I like that are perfect for me and my endgame life is complete.
I just spend all my commendations I get on mods from the vendors to keep my armor on par (and in most cases superior) with the armor I pick up.
Same with my lightsaber. Picked up that stygian harbinger lightsaber on Dromund Kaas with my commendations and have upgraded it ever since. I just need to find a red crystal that is better than the preorder crystal and is not restricted to the light side and I will have my perfect look all prepped up.
This system makes me happy. ^-^
Red crystals are restricted FROM the light side, not to. Read them again, it says cannot use if light 1 or above. If you meant a red crystal that you can use as light side, i'm afraid there aren't any. Perhaps orange?

If I add the launcher as the steam app, it does not show me in a steam game after the launcher closes and the game starts, and the overlay of course does not work. If i select swtor.exe as the steam game, it does not launch (since you need to log in using the launcher)
I would like to know exactly how you got it to work.

Im pretty sure they said it has a rotating stock of items, come back another day and it may have something different.

You're kidding me? There are SO many quests I often leave a planet overleveled and not having completed all quests!

If you are lower level then the stuff you are killing, then you skipped a bunch of quests.
Just don't pick up the heroics, do all the other quests before leaving the planet, do the planets in order and I guarantee you will easily be at least 2 levels over all the mobs you are killing.

Seriously though, the only people who got in today preordered in july, anyone else is lying.

He just said that tomorrow we will actually see dates outside of july. This does not state nor even imply that all of july is already done, on the contrary it implies it is not. Basically all he was saying was that everyone who was invited was still in july. Based on heresay, sounds like it was the 26th ish.
So if you were in july and are not in yet, count on getting in tomorrow.

The server screen is broken actually. We see them as full and medium. But in the in game screen they all show as light and standard. I've heard people complaining that it's not even fun to play on some servers cause it's empty.
It's not broken, they are artificially capping the servers right now to spread the load.

The server status is based on an arbitrary cap on active users at once. Tomorrow they'll likely bump the cap up.
We do this all the time when rolling out systems to live status. For example, say the test metrics showed 20k active connections as the maximum load for a server. You bring the server live with an artificial cap of 5k. Later, you raise the cap to 10k, then 15k, then the full rated load.
This is basic rollout strategy here.

Can you please shut up about the "they didn't have to give early access". Listen, nobody asked for early access, they publicly announced it themselves. We expected a world wide early access ala world of warcraft of 2 days but not this crap. So please, stop with the "they didn't have to give access" crap. You open your mouth about access, you give access. Apparently they opened their big mouth about early access, changed things around and put a little twist and now they've shut their mouths and kept us in the dark.
We'll see what happens tomorrow. As for me, I've followed this game far too long so I can care less if I get in anytime soon before launch. Just launch the damn game without any problems IMHO. But don't lie to people and not answer questions. Not cool at all.
The only thing they "changed around" was 5 days early access turned into 7. Thats a good thing in my book. THe same time they announced early access they told everyone that it was going to be staggered access based on when you ordered it. It isnt some big secret surprise. Anyone that cared enough to look would know this. If you didnt care enough, why do you care now?

Been following TOR since the beginning, due to previous letdowns of other MMO's I waited until after playing the beta to preorder my game. Therefore, I redeemed my code on 12/01/2011. I preordered because I wanted to be able to play on the 15th because, like most people, Christmas is very close and I plan on leaving town to see my family for that time.
So I'll get the game on the 19th... Yay! One whole day for me! But I won't be able to play it because I will be getting on a plane that day. Won't be back until new years eve. Guess who isn't going to be spending the New Years Celebration inside playing TOR? This guy.
The only REASON I preorded the game, is to be able to play on the weekend prior. But low and behold, due to this "staggering invtes" bulls#%@, Pre-ordering the game was pointless.

It's been known since preorders opened that early access was staggered based on when it was preordered, so you must not have been following the game that well. Just sayin.
