I'd like to ask your express permission to package these up into the overall theme i'm assembling. if you're agreeable to that, please write up a plain text file that includes install instructions, as well as credits for your work. package it up with your cursors and link for download. i've been looking into changing the windows loading and logon screens. Basically, it's a matter of editing the registry to enable OEM functionality, and then putting a jpeg into the system32 folder, where an OEM company might put their customized loading and logon screens. These modifications are pretty simple for anybody comfortable with computers, but given the risks inherent to modifying the registry and system32 folder, i'd like to find a way to do this automatically. anyway, i'm basically making sure i know how that works on all the different versions of win7, for x86 and x64. once i've got that down, i'll post here. also, sorry for the delay in responding. My A+ cert is up for renewal so i've been studying for that in most my down time. for anybody new to the thread, we are still looking for someone to do up art for the win7 start orb. view OP pls.

hey, thanks the support. let's try to keep this thread bumped and see if we can't get some people interested. i haven't looked into custom mouse pointers yet, i've been putting that part off. mostly because the custom mouse pointers that are out there are cheesy little lightsabers and other things to that effect. i'm looking to get a hold of something that looks like it would be on an imperial or republic computer terminal. something smart, simple, effective that has a decidedly non-cheesy TOR flare to it. i'd like to cite some examples or some kind of brainstormed ideas, but i just haven't put any thought into it yet. all that being said, if you've got something done up, let's have a look. if what you've got is good, then we can use it. and at the worst, it'll be a starting point. and the end of it all, what i'm looking to do is set up two complete desktop themes, one for imperial and one for republic, and package them both up for the community. i'm imperial, so i've only been working on the imperial side for now. but what i have so far is a custom desktop pic, a custom account pic (the image shown at the top right of the start menu) a custom UI that's done as a gadget with a program called rainmeter. i'd still like to change the task bar, the start orb and the start menu. after all of that, i'd like to try to tackle the windows loading screen and the windows login screen. also, somewhere along the way, i'd like to get some kind of screensaver. my thoughts on the screensaver is quite specific though. i'm not interested in doing like a set of game images or something like that. i was thinking more along the lines of the screen savers like the matrix code. not something exactly like that, but more along the lines of an image that gives the computer the appearance of being involved in some sort of task, with a TOR feel to it. anyways, that's all bit heavy, and possibly a bit convoluted, but i'd like the total sum of the theme to give a computer the appearance that your sitting down to a computer terminal that's inside the star wars universe, while still being an effective and efficient UI. =P but hey, if all that's a bit too much to try to think about, we can just try to get that dang start orb figured out. tl;dr sure, post your pointers. and let's try to keep this thread bumped and see if we can't get some interest in this start orb thing.

Howdy all, i've been looking to change my win7 start orb to something custom. while there are plenty of programs out there to change your start orb, there's nothing that relates to TOR, which is the theme of my profile. I was hoping that i could recruit one of the community's many talented artists to help me with this project. I'm not much of an artist, but i am a pretty decent tech. if i can get the art done up for me, i can get into one of the many programs used to customize the start orb and get something that work. what i need is art done up for the imperial, republic, jedi and sith emblems, each emblem needs 3 phases, one showing the emblem, one with the emblem brightly highlighted, and one with the emblem mildly highlighted. each phase reflecting the graphic changes for the start orb in it's various stages of use. (idle, moused over, and clicked.) you can get specifications and design examples by googling "win7 custom start orb" and viewing some of the art there. so, if anybody would kindly care to get the art done up, i can get it inserted into one of the installers and we can all change our start orbs =P
