  1. Welcome DoctorWild! I was where you are now a year ago. Brand new to MMO's and scared to death to try Group Finder. Trick is to read as many forums and blogs as possible before wading in. Dulfy.net was my favorite but that's probably because I'm a Sorcerer Healer and so is she! The advice here is excellent and the only other thing I recommend is to check out another thread in this forum titled "The Weird People You Meet in Group Finder." Not only is it hilarious at times (e.g "afk butter".....you'll see), but it is chock full of stories about people doing the wrong thing in Flashpoints and making other people hate/ignore them! You will learn fast what NOT to do. May The Force Be With you. PS - If you're on Harbinger I'd love to team up and heal for ya on the Flashpoints. (T-Durden)
  2. For my male Jug: "Whiskey in a Jar-o" - Metallica I first produced my pistol And then produced my rapier I said, "Stand and deliver Oh, or the devil he may take ya" Fro my lady Jug: "Strut" - Bob Seger She's totally committed To major independence But she's a lady through and through She gives them quite a battle All that they can handle She'll bruise some She'll hurt some too But oh they love to watch her strut Oh they do respect her but They love to watch her strut
  3. Oh. Really? A glitch? Well that kind of takes the luster right off of this amazing achievement, huh? Unless he MADE it glitch with superior use of the force!! Meh...
  4. This is so awesome to watch! Thanks and congrats! But how in the world can Doc stand right under the firing rocket, bathed in flames, and not take any damage at all??!! And he did that twice! Amazing!
  5. Oh rats! My bad. I get the terms mixed up. I am talking about the Level 50 (HARD) FP.s These are the ones just below 55 HM FPs on the GF page. I guess "Story Mode" are the FP's that are below level 50 then? Sorry for mis-posting.
  6. I'm a 55 Sorc Healer, and I do like to run the 50 HM FPs. True I do not need anything that drops, or even the comms, but I still get decent credits and everyone needs that! It's also a fun way to spend 45 min playing the game in a more intense way than simply questing, and much much easier with the GF. I am keenly aware of how overleveled and overgeared I am, and so I tend to really hold back. I will give minimal heals, which are very potent on 50-54s, and the occasional blast of lightning to help with DPS, but mainly I see my role as a shepherd. Just to make sure no one dies. I follow the tanks orders, and only speak up when asked a question or for my opinion, and only greed or pass on all loot. I remember when I was leveling. I would try the FP as soon as I was even close to being geared/leveled for it. They were very challenging this way, and I never cleared them on the first go, or even the 2nd or 3rd attempt. II remember being VERY happy when my PUG included a lvl 50 (when that was highest possible). I thought "Okay, now I have a chance to clear this thing!" Having said that, having a 55, or even a bunch of 55s in your 50 HM FP PUG is no guarantee that you will faceroll it. Level and even gear mean nothing if the players play it wrong. Once, I was in Black Talon 50 HM once with two other 55's and a 53, and we WIPED at the very first battle. No kidding....WIPED! The silence on chat was deafening! There is also a great opportunity to teach, if you're a 55 in a 50 HM FP. I enjoy teaching, and I feel like I'm at least partially balancing out all of the ragers who yell at you to "L2P idiot!", or have zero tolerance for ignorance or mistakes Once, I got dropped into an ongoing FP once with 3 powertechs. Their healer had just rage-quit before they even reached the 1st boss. I think all were friends, and all were DPS. It was Cademimu, where the boss fights have real and deadly mechanics. They had not done it before and were really clueless, not only on holding aggro (I had to admonish them to keep mobs off the healer=me!), but also on the mechanics of boss fights. We wiped twice before I spoke up, then I found out that they were new to this mission and I began to tell them how it went. Eventually, one of them began to tank a bit, and kept mobs off of me, and they learned all the mechanics (after getting trapped themselves in the red box and even standing in fire on Ortol). All told, about 6 wipes and 90 minutes later we finished. They all learned something and improved after each wipe. It was a great experience for me and I'm sure they all learned a lot too! There were very excited to have finished it too! I agree that 55's in 50 HM FPs are not good, if all they do is steamroll over the rest of the group, but as with any PUG, if everyone respects the others in their group, their time, their needs and works together, then it can still be a good time for everyone.
  7. Two things... Storm Trooper Armor. Really? Those guys get one-shot left and right, throughout all the movies. Seriously, have you ever seen that ridiculous white armor deflect or absorb anything? Ever? Perfectly reasonable to assume that an arrow would kill them instantly as well. If this was Star Trek they would all be wearing red shirts! Ewoks and Endor. Is anyone else bothered by the relative size of the final massive explosion that took out the shield generator? Check it out again. Relatively speaking, It looks to me like the blast covered around 5-10 square miles of that forest, at least! This would have vaporized not only the forest, but Han, Leia, the rebel-scum task force, R2 and 3PO and every cute little Ewok around! It has always bugged me. I'm not saying.......I'm just saying.....
  8. Just a funny story about 55 HM Cademimu and the Wookie boss flight, with the ugnaught adds.... I'm Sorc healz and have done this fight many times. Funny thing happened last night. Ranged DPS (both were ranged) and I were on top of the ship (as ordered by our tank) and all went very smoothly. Wookie dead in no time at all. DPSers instaloot, jump down and take off to continue onward, following the tank who took off even sooner. Since tankie had brought the wookie right next to the ship, I did not have to move to click and loot. I'm looking for specific mods and enhancements nowadays, so it takes me a bit longer to loot, and by the time I was done the other three in my party were nearly out of sight, on their way to the next fight! This is when I notice that right behind me, just under the wing, are all 4 (or 5?) piggies....looking up at me like I'm their mommy. I start to move down the nose of the ship and they side-step along with me. Right away I'm back to the rear and they just stand there, all in a group....staring up at me. I swear I wanted to toss them some mackerel or something. In chat, I'm like "Uh guys? I think we forgot something!" After many LOLs and LMFAOs, they all came back and we had a second fight that I think took longer than it did to kill the wookie! No sweat and we face-rolled the rest of the FP too. Never seen it where the piggies were completely ignored by the entire party!!

  10. Kelsey Grammar is who I picture, and hear, as Thrawn. Christina Hendricks as Mara Jade.
  11. Interesting. Yes, I agree that The Doctor's power to manuulate time could fesibly undermine any strategy that a Sith could think up. Also The Doctor has powerful friends, as you pointed out. The Doctor would be compeltely dominate in a contest of time manipulation. Of course, if the Doctor ever came face-to-face witha Sith lord, well......let's just say the sonic screwdriver wouldn't be much help. As far as Jedi vs. Weeping Angel? What if the Jedi is blind or just closes his/her eyes and jsut uses the force to "see". Great post!!
  12. The "focus" target icon shows more than just 4 buffs. Click on a toom then hit alt-f and that toon will be your "focus". This is great for healers who need to "focus" on tank. This icon will remain your "focus" regardless of who you are "targeting" at the moment. I hate seeing only 4 buffs too. Previous poster got it right too, Mess with the width, height of HP bars and also the size of buffs and debuffs. I go with .3 for buffs and .7 for debuffs.
  13. Couldn't they just use solar panals? Besiee power, don't they also need to pruduce oxygen? and scrub CO2 out of the air. No trees, right?
  14. I'm a lvl 55 Sorc Healer (Full corruption tree). I keep my operation box to the right of my quickbars at the bottom of screen. Tweak wideness and scale so that your group members' bars hover right over your picture. I put all of my heal buttons on the right sid of the quickbars, so they are right underneath the group bars. Easy to click from one to another and only 2 inches to get to all of my heals, including bubble, CC, stun-break, extrocate, cleanse and consumption. I use mouse for this exclusively. On the left side of quick bars are my DPS buttons, for when I have a lull and can dole out some whuppas for a few seconds. Most important here is that my interrupts are tied to numbers1,2 & 3 on keyboard. Sicne I am always using Q,W & E for movement, it's very easy to hit 1,2 or 3 for the emergency interrupt when needed. I also put Target of Target to the immediate right of quickbars, below operatrions box. This way, I can always see the enemy, well almost always since my target is the tank 90% of time, and when the enemy does something that needs to be uinterrupted, I can quickly click on enemy (target of target) and interrupt with 1,2 or 3 on keyboard. I have tried many configuariont and this one works best by far....for me.
  15. I'm a 55 Sorc healer and I think it just depends on the skill (and gearing) or the Tank and DPSs. I've been doing almost nothing bur HM FPs since 2.0 and I've found a few tmes when it's hard for me to keep up my heals, as all group members are taking damage, and yes I will even get a few mobs on me. Then other times I sit in the back and basically DPS becuase DPS is taking zero damage and Tank only needs a top-off every 30 seconds. I have been unlucky in getting the same FPs (mostly BT and D7) over and over again (supposed to be random right?!!), and I long for something new! But it is a good way for me to compare apples-to-apples in terms of aggro in a given battle. Bottom line....If you have good tank and dps you hardly even need a healer! Bad tank and dps and the best healer in the world cannot save it!
  16. Yep, you lose your Revivification, i corruption, and also your Static Barrier bonuses in Lightning. You can get Reviv back before 55 if you take points out of Consumption and that thing that augments Force Slow (whatever!). If you are leveling to 55 you may not need Consumtion so much as you will need it after 55. You will also be able to get your Static Barrier bonuses back by leleving to 55!
  17. Yes, this seems to be the best, and most fool-proof method. I will be sure to ask the group before "needing" somethhig that I do not obviously need. I'm sick of being undergeared! Appreciate all the input.
  18. Yeah, my master plan is have one crafting skill per toon, and get them all covered, so that I can make anything that any of my toons need and trade amongst my legacy. This, however, is the long term plan. I've only 3 toons as of now, none with cybertech, alas. So I need to get better gear from loot drops or GTN, which is mostly too expensive at my lvl (33). Not a correction, BTW, I currently "greed" or "pass" an 99% of drops, because I'm not sure. My posts here are for learning more about it, so that perhaps I can justify the occasional "need". The LAST thing I want to be is "that guy" who is a jerk that gets blacklisted. I'd rather be undergeared and under powered, than a jerk to my fellow players. Harumph.....I think I need to turn in my Sith card! lol
  19. Oh wow, if that is the case then you are right, and so is CapFordo, and I am doing it stupid. I could swear that not only the armor rating (rating 72), but also the armor number (Armor 385) was direclty related to the armomr rating of the Armor mod! Seems like changing out Mods or Enhancements does nothing to those two numbers, but it does change when I change the Armor mod. We need an "armor guide". Like Rating 72 = 385 Armor; Rating 80 = 425 Armor, etc. Thanks so much for all the input.
  20. Stupid how? If I get better armomr rating, isn't that good, and even perhaps......smart?
  21. Okay, but isn't "armor rating" a "stat" that I need?
  22. I see your point, but yes, I do know what my class needs. I'm a sorcerer, so I need Endurance and Willpower. Having said that, I think that a lvl 13 Commando Armor mod (with Aim) will be better for me than a lvl 11 Force Weilder Armor mod (with Willpower), right? Wrong specs, okay, but gain like +18 or so Armor rating. That'll keep squishy me alive a bit longer! So by definition this would be an upgrade for me, and therefore, acceptable to "Need" it. I will expect to have to explain this when I "need" a heavy armor piece to get the mods. Marauders are such whiners! (kidding >: ) Thanks for posting.
  23. Is it acceptable to "need" to get an item just for the mods? I keep going on FPs via groupfinder and end up "greed"ing everything because it almost always is not for my armor class, or weapon ability. As a result I usually end up with nothing beside credits and XP, while the other are completely stoked with thier cool new itmes. I would be in much better shape, armorwise and weaponwise, if I could get an orange itme that I cannot equip, then just pull the mods out and stick them in my own existing orange armor pieces. Only other way to get high level mods is to make them (not my craft skill) or buy them from GTN, and the prices are nuts. So, while a nice orange chest piece that requires heavy armor is not something that I can "use" as I am light armor, I certainly could use, and indeed "NEED", the killer mods that come with it! Okay to "Need" on that basis?
