  1. Greetings to all space-faring folk! The Thranta Squadron Two-Year Anniversary is coming up and to celebrate this joyous occassion, we, as Thranta Squadron, are organizing a new event. The event will be held on 27 May, from 6PM to 8PM UTC on our home server The Red Eclipse. While our American friends are welcome to join us, we are focusing on the European time slot this time. In this event, called the Thranta Cup, teams of four will be competing to get the best score in matches that will (if the matchmaker allows it) only be Republic vs. Empire games. As long as their is one team on either side, the match will be allowed to go through. To calculate the score of a team, the following formula will be used: . At the end of the event, we will add all the scores of the teams together, and determine the best team based on that, possibly dividing by the amount of matches played by each team if this amount is not equal for all teams. Then the announcement of the winning team will follow, who will receive a symbolic prize. You can sign up either with a set team, or you can sign up individually so we can match you with a team. If you want to sign up as a duo or trio, this is of course also possible: then we will do our best to find other pilots so it can still be a team of four. You can sign up in various ways: - Leave a post under the thread in the GSF Forums - Leave a response under the Reddit thread here - Send an e-mail to redfantom@outlook.com - Send a PM to @RedFantom#2509 on Discord or post in the GSF Discord Server with the same tag Everyone and anyone is invited. Even if you do not think you are skilled enough, you are welcome to participate. Please include the following with your application: - Your in-game names (both Republic and Imperial characters) - Whether you can only play on a single side because of ship mastery - Whether you want us to place you in a team, or you already have a team set up A private Mumble server will be provided specifically for this event, with various channels and the admin will be available to make more channels if required. The server will be available on the address public.thrantasquadron.tk, under the default port (64738) without a password. So, to recap: - 27 May, 6PM to 8PM UTC - On the server The Red Eclipse, both factions - Teams of 4 pilots on either side - The winners are declared based on a calculated score - There will be a symbolic prize - Mumble will be provided on public.thrantasquadron.tk Spread the word and have fun flying! The Thranta Squadron Management Team
  2. This message was originally written by RedFantom Version 2.0.0 (stable) Hereby I would like to officially announce the stable version 2.0.0 of the GSF Parser. This version contains various bugfixes, improvements, more settings and general improvements, including fixes for two critical errors when running a different operating system than Windows 7. This version is the first version that I actually like using myself, and I hope you all do too! A big thanks to Daethyra for helping me again. This forum doesn't allow images, so two links to the screenshots will have to do, after all: what you see is what you get. http://i.imgur.com/lLi8U1P.png http://i.imgur.com/j7XFwXF.png I have also set up a website on gsfparser.tk, and while it's not fully up-to-date for v2.0.0, you can still take a look there. If you want to download the parser, you can find an installer here, and a ZIP-file here. If you have any feedback or ideas, you can of course post in this topic, but your are also welcome to send feedback through the feedback form on the website, if you can't post here. Don't we all . Glad to see you actually took the time to read some of my code! Edit: One more note: the installer of the GSF Parser is known to give off a security warning of Windows itself, not your anti-virus, because the installer is not signed with a certificate. As these cost about €180 a year, I find myself unable to prevent that.
  3. This message was originally written by RedFantom. While this topic may have led you to believe that the development of the parser had been stopped, the very opposite is true. Daethyra and I have been working hard on a new version of the parser, and I am glad to announce that version 2.0.0_alpha is now available on the GitHub page. This version includes some features we hope will interest you, including: - A fully redesigned user interface with a new layout - Real-time parsing with overlay (please note that having the game in Fullscreen (windowed) is required) - Per spawn parsing - Ship recognition There are also quite some things that aren't working yet, but this alpha version still seems like a much better version than the old 1.4.0 to me. I hope you enjoy using it! RedFantom
  4. In principle, you can start playing GSF at level 1. If you want to do the introductory mission, however, you must first get to the fleet to pick it up from the PvP mission terminal. We do always recommend that you get this mission first, since it gives a lot of benefits. If you have any more questions, feel free to ask .
  5. The website for the event is now available! Visit www.showingrookiestheropes.tk to sign up as either a Veteran or a Rookie. The Rosters will also be made available there. To reach as many players as possible, we have now also posted in the General Forums. We also want to spread the word on the starter planets and the Fleets on multiple servers in the General Chat, but we need all of your help to do that. You can write a message yourself, but you can also use this one that we have written for you:
  6. Good day everyone! Have you given up on Galactic StarFighter a while ago? Were you scared off by some of its players? Do you think it’s too hard and you’ll never learn how to fly properly? Then this is a unique chance for you! On Saturday 27 August there will be an event on The Red Eclipse on the Imperial Faction where you can group up with a Veteran to get to know GSF in a fun way. Grouping up You will be in a group of at maximum three Rookies and one Veteran, designated with a colour. The Veteran will answer all questions you may have, can give tips on what ships and upgrades to choose, and you will be practicing different tactics under his or her leadership. For smooth communication the TSS (Thranta Squadron public mumble Server) will be available and each Squadron will have its very own channel to use. There will be a zero-tolerance policy here: as soon as the Veteran has to ask the Organization to kick someone out, they’re out. Who can participate? Anyone can! Even if you’ve never heard of GSF before now, you’re welcome to join up. Rookies with any kind of skill level are welcome to sign up and there are no requirements. If you’ve played over 500 matches however, maybe you should consider signing up as a Veteran . The Veterans will be handpicked by the Thranta Squadron Management Team, to ensure each Squadron gets a friendly Veteran, capable of giving the leadership the group needs. Signing up You can sign up on a special website: www.showingrookiestheropes.tk. If you’d like to learn more about the event, you can visit the dedicated thread in the GSF Forums to do so. Don’t forget to tell everyone you think might be interested! The Thranta Squadron Management Team
  7. Thanks for all your support! We need all of your help to spread the word on this to reach as many Rookies as possible. Close-shave makes a good point about the premades. I’ve thought about it, and came to the following conclusions: If people in the premade are positive about this event, they won’t be in the premades because they’ll be helping us. If people don’t care about this event, I hope they do care enough about the community in general not to go about interfering with the event like that. If people are actively opposed to this event and want to try and make it fail by running premades against us, that is very unfortunate (and a bit childish) indeed. The one positive result would be the opportunity to teach Rookies the dos and don’ts when faced with a stronger opponent. Besides, if we field enough teams, they won’t be able to annoy any one of us for very long. We don’t think just the ops chat would do. Like MaximilianPower says: spreading the word in General chat on the starter planets and fleets of all servers would probably gain us more Rookies than the ops chat of GSF matches ever could. RedFantom is working hard on the site for signing up for the event, and it’ll be done soon. We’ll post a link as soon as it’s ready!
  8. Good day everyone! There’s been quite a bit of discussion about the state and size of the GSF community. We seem to have been discussing forever, and most of us know that there aren’t many of us, and the attitude towards newcomers isn’t always the best. Veterans leave and now new players are attracted to the game. Realistically, if we keep this up, the GSF community will cease to exist within the year. That’s a very gloomy thought. Lucky for us, RedFantom has come up with a plan to turn this around. It’s a simple plan, really, but the execution of this plan will need all of us to pitch in and help out. Let me explain. Thranta Squadron will organize an event. However, this event is different from any of our usual events in that it pairs one veteran with three rookies to form a team. The veteran can help the rookies out, during both down-time and matches. This will show the GSF community in a positive light, might attract new players, and will even help those new players overcome the enormously steep learning curve that GSF starts with. For more details on both the event and the organization of it, see the spoilerbox below. I have no doubt that even from this very short explanation it is clear that, while we want to take the initiative here and do the organizing, we will need a lot of help for it to succeed. For one, this event will need a lot of promotion across all the servers. Secondly, we will need all the veterans of this community to pitch in during the event itself. We’re counting on all of you to help out. If you have any comments, helpful advice or want to let us know how you can help, we love to hear it all!
  9. Don't worry! We're already planning for the next event . With the advice Maulkat has given us, it'll probably be even better next time . Thanks to everyone who joined us!
  10. Thranta Squadron is an Imperial guild, so that would be the preferred faction. If we need it though, most of us can switch to Republic. Well, apparently it was a lot of fun to fly non-meta ships . Also, don't go looking for Arrenic on the 17th. Rather, go find Pyril. Have a nice day!
  11. A good day to all space-faring folk! Today it is exactly three weeks since Thranta Squadron had it's One-Year Anniversary, and it certainly was an evetn worthy of celebration. Therefore we have launched a new website, alongside holding an event. While it's too late for you now to participate in the event, which I'm sure you would much rather do than read this, you can still visit our new website! The new site has a completely different look and has got new forums, though you'll have to login to visit the Tactics Discussions, in case you thought to come snooping . We are still happy to welcome any enthusiastic new members to our guild. We have everything you'd expect from a guid, along with a friendly, casual attitude. Now, this message might not have been worthy of placement if it weren't for the fact that we're also announcing a new event on The Red Eclipse for Friday the 17th of June from 7PM UTC to however late you want to stay. It will be a non-META ship event, where you can use: All Strike Fighters (of course ) Blackbolt/Novadive Bloodmark/Spearpoint Dustmaker/Comet Breaker Decimus/Sledgehammer We invite every enthusiastic GSF player to come over and make a fun evening of it. You can, of course, join up on either side with your own group, or (on the Imp side) you can look for RedFantom and Arrenic to set you up with some fun people. Hope to see you in space! The Thranta Squadron Management Team
  12. Hello Tash, As far as I know, we of Thranta Squadron are indeed the only ones with a guild dedicated to GSF on TRE’s impside. Redfantom, our Recruitment Officer, is often online in the evenings. Me, I always try to be there on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays at least. You can currently find me under Arrenic, but hopefully it’ll be back to Pyril soon. We’re rather casual usually, but we’ve got everything a guild needs: a Mumble server, a guild flagship, and a brand new website (see signature ). Hope to see you around, and in the meantime: good flying!
  13. Hello everyone! Not sure how up to date this thread is anymore, but here's a record for it anyway. This is Yellowbird’s record for the overall objective points: Yellowbird – Thranta Squadron – The Red Eclipse – 612 objective points However, she wouldn’t let me post it unless I posted one of my own as well, so here it is, for the Bomber domination category: Pyril – Legion – Thranta Squadron – The Red Eclipse – 5 solo kills And the proof that it was only in the Legion.
  14. I wish a thread like this had existed earlier, but I'm sure glad it's here now. Guild: Thranta Squadron Server: The Red Eclipse Faction: Empire Guild Master: Pyril Active times: Mostly GMT evenings, though these days I can come online at 4:30 GMT and find someone there, too. Key members: All of us. Though Redfantom deserves special mention: he is the Recruitment Officer. Allied Guilds: Ghost Squadron. As far as guilds from opposing sides can be allied, anyway;). But who knows? Maybe, one day, we'll take on third party forces together. Other: For more information, please visit our website.
