  1. Here I was referring to the login queue that preferred and f2p accounts have to go through to play the game, nothing else.
  2. That's interesting. Normally big connection issues happen due to bad internet or the fact that the server you connect to is far away from where you live. So one explanation I came up with is that you go inactive for too long and get booted from the server back to the selection screen. Another idea relates to your account status: if you are a sub or not. If not, then you would be subject to waiting in queues just to get ingame, although this ties into my previous point of inactivity as well. Although I don't play on the Bastion or Harby, I do play on BC, which on occasion has some weird connection issues of its own but not as much as I've heard the more populated servers have (like Harby). Perhaps it is due to the condition of the server as a whole, seeing as how I always see complaints about Harby in the dev forums to the point where the server is frequently shut down for maintenance or restarts. In your case, the most probable answer is that status of Harby in general is "worse" than what you are used to seeing on the Bastion.
  3. Yeah, ever since Windows had its newest update, the game doesn't seem to load as easily. Mainly the issues is that when you open up the launcher, don't tab out to use any other program or app, especially after you hit the Play button. If you do end up doing this, then your game will crash like the original post stated (at char selection screen) and you will be forced to restart the whole process. So basically if you want to tab out for whatever reason, do it after you have already clicked on a character to log in as. That should solve your problem.
  4. It frustrates me to see the preview of dyes bug. Like I can't see my dyes on gear when I preview armor pieces and it even messes up on the character selection screen as well. I also don't like seeing the constant "cannot enter VIP area" announcement even though I am far away from the VIP elevators but a random other player is. Then I somehow receive the text alert anyway.
  5. As I watched the livestream today, I saw an interesting idea some people wrote in the comments: why not let the preferred get access to the Command System so they can gear but at a slower pace? It would at least still allow preferred people to get gear (or subs who drop sub for whatever reason) without relying on other people to craft mods for them or having to buy the mods on the gtn for jacked up prices. At least that way pref accounts could still be useful to people and guilds especially if they want to do group content like operations. Now some think that the limitations playing on f2p are fair, and in some ways it is but others it isn't. Limiting them so they can't have unlimited warzones or be able to do operations (at level 50 even) kind of sucks for them. Yeah I know the devs get money for selling the passes on the CM, but I doubt they are making so much money on them regularly or so that they couldn't just get rid of them and still do fine. They probably make more money off of people buying cartel packs anyway, not the passes that are a bit expensive for what they do anyway. At least let the f2p players be able to do unlimited content that a level 50 player can do. And if they still don't like the level cap of 50 then they could sub for a month and potentially raise their cap up to 65/70. That way the player is happy and the devs would be happy since another person has given them money. Even if that f2p who went sub for a bit would become pref would gain the benefits of an "upgraded" account over the free one.
  6. ^I was really surprised when I saw this since it seems like a lot of people don't understand how bad the situation for the game is. Some people really can't afford or won't pay just to unlock some features in the game that in all honesty should be free or at the very very least less expensive.
  7. Well yeah when you put it that way of course the rich upper crust players won't have any problems at all... at least until/if they can't subscribe and they lose the chance to do things like being able to get gear at 70. On the oustisde subs may not be crying now but on the inside they might, just because they have to sub since they are afraid to lose everything if they don't. (I'm kind of one of them as well.)
  8. First of all, eww Harby. Secondly, I guess stuff like that could happen but it's difficult for people who live on money-grubbing servers like BC.
  9. As far as the ops and wz passes are concerned, they are kind of expensive especially considering the fact that f2p and preferred people can't really access them unless they buy them with credits on the gtn. And I don't know what server you play on but on BC where I play, sellers charge up the wazzu for things like that, which make it impossible for preferred people or f2p to get one. Cartel coins have the same issue since preferred and f2p people are forced then to buy cartel coins with money so they can play a part of the game that should be free to them in the first place.
  10. Me personally? No. In general I don't like the idea of playing several MMO type games at one time. Besides that, I like Star Wars a lot. However, if there was a f2p game that seems interesting to me and doesn't have as harsh limitations as SWTOR has, then I may give it a try. Until then who knows.
  11. In response to the people who think that their character is/feels too weak in this new story whether in cutscene or gameplay form, is technically right. This is all due to the dev's fault; they created this problem. Instead of doing something like the origin stories (lv 1-50 one) where the character grows in power and gains more abilities over time, the new story has players' characters remain at their previous strength while the KOFTE/KOTET enemies are even stronger than the ones they faced in the first character stories. Inherently this makes it unfair since player characters are fighting someone with ridiculous power and can't do anything to stop them. This problem could be solved IF the "Outlander" actually had time to train or increase their powers/abilities instead of recruiting essentially foot soldiers or wasting time recruiting people who barely help the Alliance at all (chapters 10-14.) Chapter 12 is included in there as well since the new weapon created doesn't have a story purpose, just a gameplay one (that isn't even required.) So the only real way that the Alliance will win is if people, mostly the Outlander, gets the time to train or gain new powers to defeat these new enemies. P.S. I'd like to say that this thread hasn't been able to stay on topic much, but it gets people talking about at least semi-relevant stuff related to KOFTE/KOTET in general. Keep it up.
  12. With the new update about how people will be gearing at level 70, pref. and f2p accounts are left out. They won't be able to get gear at all since they won't be subbed. I'd be surprised if the devs even allow them to reach the new level cap of 70. Basically it seems that the devs really like making pref accounts (and f2p) extremely limited in what they can do. It's bad enough that people who aren't subs can't do operations or are limited on how many warzones they can do by themselves, and now they won't be able to get any gear at all (that is if they can reach level 70 of course without subbing.) This means that everyone besides subscribers will be stuck in a gearing rut until they subscribe. Overall it feels like bullying or shaming the players who aren't or won't subscribe.
  13. With the trailer, it shouldn't be aimed at getting new people interested in the game. If BW wanted to do that, then they would make another trailer featuring the original 1-50 stories (which were probably the best.) It makes no sense to bring in new players into a storyline that already started before the trailer came out. Plus the trailer is a somewhat big spoiler for new people who would play so they could see what this "KOTET" thing is all about.
  14. I will say that even though I like the whole new expansion story, I do miss the original story of Empire v. Republic. At the heart of the game is the never ending battle between these two. Star Wars is based on the good guys fighting the bad guys and it's what the makers are good at. Like a few other people here, I also hope that the game will "return to normal" and go back to the war between the Imps and Pubs. At first it was cool to see both sides working together for once to fight a common enemy (although they could have done it earlier with the Dread Masters too but whatever,) but by now the whole idea of teamwork is getting so boring. It was cool up to the early chapters of KOFTE, but after the Revan incident and all of this...no. At this point I really want to see "old" characters we've had for a while like Lana to die. It's her time.
  15. The problem is that the trailer should appeal to the players since the game is for the players, especially the players that have been around a while and have played through the original story and KOFTE at least. Having the trailer appeal to new people/players wouldn't do much for BW.
