  1. Numbers.

I've died in heroic Star Fortress when trying to solo it, got the where solo mode ends and just could not deal with the amount of mobs i had to kill in one go and lost my healing companion (would probably be easier with a tank or healer class).

I've died in the "changing history" heroic in Makeb due to the traps (namely, the poison room).

Also died a few times in story mode ops (mainly due to not paying attention).

  2. Knight and Warrior both fit in good, although Knight takes the charge. Other classes less so, unfortunatelly.

I played it with my agent (inquisitor next), it was a decent fit for the most part, except the alliance part, my character would be more likely to prop up someone else as the head honcho (Lana maybe?), and operate from the shadows.

But i think my inquisitor will fit right in.

As for it being Star warsy? Hell yes.

And as someone earlier pointed out, it's more Extended Universe than classic Star Wars (never before seen threat coming out of nowhere forcing empire/republic to work together? where have i seenthis before?), but still Star Wars.

  3. The old companions are supposdly coming back in future chapters.

But there being around 40 companions to go, it might take a year or more.

If you choose to romance Lana or Theron, i think it's supposed ot have repercussions with your old companions if your character was in a relationship with them.

  4. - need a group for almost every thing now.

Only thing you need groups for is the heroic Starfort and dungeons/ops.

And possibly Changing history heroic on Makeb (those traps are *********** stupid) if your Presence is not high enough.

Everything else is soloable with little to no difficulty.

  5. those 2 classes are played from cover. The whole cover mechanic was designed for them.

Immune to knockback while in cover

    Damage reduction while in cover

    Healing while in cover

... while in cover (the list goes on)

Should just bind F to "take cover in place" (any easy to press key will do)

I prefer operative over sniper/gunslinger just because of the mobility. A sniper has to setup, ease his breath to reduce weapon sway to make a perfect shot. Snipers get all glory but video games don't communicate the amount of time and patience sniping requires.

LadyVix is asking for sniper classes to have the ability to 360 no scope on the move like Call of Duty elite dudebros.

You can kinda already 360 no scope with a sniper if you use that skill that only activates when an enemy is below 40% health. (this ability does not have a cover requirement)

Immune to knockback. Except when not. (some bosses, elite mobs, or just seemingly random abilities, ignore that)

Damage reduction. not really, change for the attack to miss, which is not as good as flat damage reduction.

    Healing?

Now, don't understand me, i like cover, but i do miss physical covers i could hide behind, and wish cover was more usefull.

I actually preferred the old, AoE out of cover, single target from cover approach of our abilities.

  6. Hi,

I played the Kotfe story through on my merc and noticed that in my mission log for ch X there is a picture of the Firebrand. Could this be Kaliyo? Not played my agent through the story yet so not sure if agents have her back yet. I'm also hoping/assuming that some of our comps trickle back over the course of next year's chapters. This could also explain some of BW's silence on the comp issue (maybe they don't want to give away spoilers).

Or am I putting two n two together and making five? :p

The face, the synopsis, it pretty much points to Kaliyo.

And i really hope it is.

    I miss Kaliyo. :(

  7. spoilers ahead

    Valkorion:

I really liked Valkorion, not as a person, but he is turning out to be rather interesting character, and i really can't tell if he really has changed, or is just trying to **** with our minds.

    And that, is awesome. :rak_03:

I think he is just trying to mess with us, largely due to narrative reasons, but i could be wrong.

Especially the first choice of loaning his power was interesting.

I did, and have been worrying about it ever since.

But it makes so much sense in context (though in hindsight, i doubt Lana would have died if i hadn't, though if she could have died, that would have been really interesting direction for the game).

The other 2 choices, not as impactfull, and i resisted the temptation quite easily (yeah, right, like you're going to kill the player character halfway through).

    Companions:

Really liking the new companions, they're interesting, with lot of potential to grow.

But i'm also missing Kaliyo, a lot actually, and kinda miffed that i can't change the looks of my companions anymore, as well as that i need to wait until next Rakghoul outbreak to recruit Lokin, the guy was my second most favorite companion (right after Kaliyo).

Also worried that the old companions get dropped by the wayside, which would suck considering all the things we went through.

    Alliance:

Not sure how much i like this one, never saw my character as a "leader" type for large organizations.

Smaller operation would fit just fine though (my sorcerer, will fit right in however).

And i wish i could customize the alliance base to look different, but i guess i got my strongholds for that.

Still, it has potential, so let's see how things develope from here.

  8. Noticed this as well.

I guess they got bored catering to 1/8th of the classes in their level design and decided to just forget about the core mechanic of snipers/gunslingers.

They could have given us stealth to compencate (and, really, they should anyway), but noo, just a boring cooldown remover you will never, ever, want to use (you may need to, but if you do, something has probably gone badly aready).

  9. And yet The Secret World tells an amazing story that is far more mature than SWTOR's with a mute main character  Having a mute character AT SOME SMALL PART OF THE GAME is NOT THAT BAD. It's not the end of the world. It's the STORY that matters.

If I had to choose between the actual Jedi Consular story that is fully voiced and a new Jedi Consular story with a mute main character but which is far better than the current one, I would choose the latter.

Of course voicing is a big part of the game and it should be done as many as possible but if there are some parts that make your character mute but you still have different choices to take like in Kotor, then it's not something to gripe about.

The mute main character is actually one of the weakest points of TSW storytelling.

Not because he is "mute", but because how it is handled.

The character is voiceless, choiceless, and near emmotionless puppet of whatever npc you are interacting with.

But then TSW gives you no real choices in the game (well, there are 3, though we're not sure on how "meaningful" they end up being), you're a spectator, nothing more.

  10. The conversations themselves don't really bother me as much as the gall to pass the whole thing off as an improvement. Instead of just coming clean and saying it like it is - 'we had to prioritize and ended up cutting this content because of the cost, we know the game is worse off for it and we're sorry' (something I would respect) - we get the typical corporate doublespeak where you never admit a weakness until it's time for the next expansion.

It's like your employer cutting your salary and presenting it like you should be thankful they give you the opportunity to learn to plan your economy responsibly and manage with limited resources.

I get where you're coming from, and kinda even agree with it.

They should have sold this as a cost cutting measure, and an attempt to reduce development time for new content first, a "classic" conversation system second.

  11. for the most part, i like what thy've done so far

Alliance system looks like it has potential, ll open world heroics seem to be 2+ now so i can solo them, heroics give locked supply crates, which give rep items and (ugly looking) orange gear, variable companion roles is great (as is not needing to gear them), especially for those levelling new characters.

And more Story is always welcome.

There's just, one minor issue i have with the expansion so far.

    I miss Kaliyo. :(

  12. Neither love or hate it.

I don't like the control scheme (makes playing in windowed mode pain in the ***, and waiting in line is boring if i can't browse the web at the same time), and the weird mix of skills based and stat based targeting leads to more than half of my shots missing even if my targeting marker is right in the middle of the lead indicator.

It's something to do, and i'll probably keep at it for a bit, but i suspect i'll loose interest after a while.

  13. Not sure if it's the best rotation, but i just go for whatever gives me most Follow Through's, with Series of Shots having priority, and using Corrosive Dart as a filler when i got a gap in CD's, and the armor debuff when it needs reapplying.

Works fine imo, for gear i have mostly 72 mods (couple 69 mods, 0 set pieces), with over 100% hit change, 0 crit rating, and rest in power/surge.

My guild has cleared both Terror From Beyond and Scum and Villainy on hardmode, and i'm one of our regular ops dps'ers.

  14. I agree with you but I don't see any way to make sure its as challenging as a H2/H4 should be (I don't want to imagine Bolster'ed NPC lol)

so you can either make it impossible for "non raid geared" players or boring for "raid geared" players

with my lv50 shadow I've usually soloed the H4 in the black whole without any trouble with 55 it's laughably easy and way faster then looking for a group (even faster then running with guildmates) because of stealth.

so their only way of slowing me down is by compelling me to solo what's labelled solo and skip the H2/H4 or group up with others.

also it punishes some classes/roles who unlike others lack the advantages which allows them to solo said H2/H4's much more easily. as soon as a group comes into play many disadvantages are compensated, that makes balancing easier.

This doesn't actually address my original point, which is that making us bring a group simply to push a button, is annoying.

Either use the fight mechanics (not necessarily simply thougher/more mobs) to make us want to bring a friend, or let us solo it if we can, but do not make us drag someone in with us to press a damn button.

  15. I don't agree on this point (because if I want to play solo I don't load on a MMO) The fact is that if the quest wasn't bugged it would be a lot less annoying ^^

I do not mind heroic quests, although i do hate it when the whole group requirement is due to amount of clickies needed to be used at the same time, but making a looooong solo quest chain, then suddenly slamming a 4 man heroic at the end, makes it lot hard to find groups that are all on the same stage.

Especially if/when many people don't bother with the chain to begin with, or, especially if the heroic4s are in places where people of appropriate level are otherwise unlikely to be.

And yes, it not being bugged would be awesome. :D

  16. it seems you haven't had the bug I'm talking about and yes I call bug avoidance Tactics.

I have no idea what bug you are talking about, as i have not encountered a bug in that quest.

Only problem i had with that quest the one time i tried to do it (solo), is that i can't press all the buttons fast enough to not die from the dot, and only thing i would need someone else for, is to press a button.

Pressing a button is not heroic.

And since Aurora canon, we have been seeing more quests where the whole heroic 2 or heroic 4 requirement boils down to, simply needing enough bodies to click objects.

    I find this bad/lazy design.

Fights are where the difficulty should lie, and fights should be what determines the need for people.

And if someone is good enough to solo a heroic (i'm usually not, except some heroic 2s), then more power to them, and forcing them to drag someone along to press a button is rather silly (or atleast make a note than this quest needs a button presser).
