No thanks. Horrible idea. Also, we already have a very long thread about this on the main page, so i don't quite get why we need another one.
Scaling is a plague. It removes several aspects of the game which I personally appreciate a lot.
a- character power growth. As a fledgling adventurer, you may find that fighting the proverbial Dire Rats is a challenge. After two years of adventuring and destroying the Big Bad in epic combat, you return to the same larder and encounter the Dire Rats again... and they're supposed to bite you through your plate armor of awesomeness +5? Seriously?
b- helping lowbies. It somewhat ties in with a. If a Darth helps out an apprentice with some upstart Jedi padawan, he bloody well should be able to roflstomp that encounter. He's a Darth, ffs, and reducing him to the same power level as his friend is both nonsensical and annoying. I like boosting friends through FPs or heroics. Remove this feature and you remove a significant part of what I do and enjoy on a daily basis.
c- soloing content. This is an MMO, sure -- that's why I enjoy our regular ops or HM FP groups. However, I need my time off, time to relax, and do stuff that still holds a modicum of interest for me. For example, running old FPs for pretty gear or decos. Or actually finding a different type of challenge in soloing content designed for groups. Even though I haven't played in ages, I still find some of the successes of experienced soloers on WoW impressive. Enforcing down-bolsters here removes a substantial part of what players can do when they are or want to be alone.
Mind you, I can understand why down-bolsters can be nice. You don't need to have an at-level character to play with friends without vastly overpowering them. I fully support an optional down-bolster, maybe like the 12xp buff remover you can currently purchase on fleet. However I'll be seriously up in arms if they enforce down-bolsters for everybody at all times, even on a planetary basis?! I already hated that mechanic in GW2. Please no, BW.
