  1. Greetings all, I play a guardian tank as my main on Star Forge, though I am pretty new to the server. My account has been bounced between servers over the years as different servers were consolidated. I started on Jung Ma way back before 2.0 launched and I have now found myself here on Star Forge. Back when 2.0 launched, I used to get into the old battles that used to constantly break out on Tatooine between Thorazan and Zaroshe in the Dun Sea. I had so much fun that I used to play the game just to go out to the Dune Sea and patrol the pub questing areas and help protect low level pubs from players who might be hiding in stealth, looking to hunt them. That and help protect pub bases when they would get raided by Imperial guilds. Every time I go out to the pvp instance on Tatooine here on Star Forge, it is nearly empty. For me, running through Tatooine reminds me of all those fights that used to happen. For me, those spontaneous battles had a different quality and feel from the more structured and limited warzones and I miss it. Are there any guilds or communities on Star Forge that get into arranging open world pvp battles or is there anyone who would be interested in the possibility of arranging open world events of that type?
  2. Pretty much any guild on Jungma will work now, pvp on the server is all but extinct, like the population.
  3. You're like one of the last well known imps that gave lowbie pubs nightmares on Jungma, that still hung around for a bit. Happy hunting on Ebon Hawk.
  4. So I'm having an issue with the new expansion. As soon as I try to launch the first chapter of the new eternal throne story line, the game's graphics appear to break. I get a weird half blown up view of Voss that is badly off set on my screen immediately instead of the normal text crawl and my game client just stops responding entirely. I never actually get to load into Voss to being the story. Is this just an issue with my graphics card needing an update or some issue like that? This problem is kinda lousy since I resubbed for a month to play the new story line.
  5. I posted a couple weeks or so ago my thoughts on the pvp/pve instance option. This post though is a little more radical though I think its logic is similar. The addition of additional instances to separate PvP and pve areas creates tonnes of new space to divide up what few players are left on our server. I also think that we are all further dividing ourselves up by being in tonnes of separate guilds on both the imp and pub sides. I don't think the population of players left on the server can support a large number of guilds anymore and having a bunch of guilds with only a handful of active people may be hurting the game play experience. I think it may be possible to improve our game play experience by consolidating some of our guilds so that those of us remaining on the server can have the opportunity to join and be a part of a viable guild. What I mean by viable is that the guild has enough active players in it to support activities like group based pve/pvp content, conquest events, player rp, group exploration for datacrons, etc. The guild I am currently in is called "Order of the Knights Templar." At any one point these days, I'll only ever see two or three people online in the guild with me. That's not enough active people to do much of anything with. I suspect that there are many other guilds on the server that are in the same boat. I know this idea line of thinking is complicated by the fact that many currently existing guilds are in possession of guild strongholds and warships that they invested in when the server had a higher active player population; however, I think this idea has some merit worth discussing.
  6. I have rarely ever posted in the forums; however, I was reading a recent post on how our server is dying and decided to try starting a new thread. I've played on Jung ma since before the game's second anniversary as a Jedi Guardian running tank spec. Over the past year I've watched what looked like a exodus as entire guilds transcended to other servers. Since I did mostly PvP, it started with the ranked guilds and then everyone else followed. The server is now pretty much dead. This all being said, I question the decision to introduce into the game the option for players to toggle a preference for PvP or pve, the result being players getting separated into different instances depending on how they have chosen to flag themselves. To me, this makes no sense. Especially when the servers themselves used to be sorted into pve or PvP servers and level adjustments were introduced so that open word encounters would not be skewed in the favor of high level players. The ability to toggle the pvp/pve flag a and sending players to different instances respectively has increased the number of available instances in the game significantly, so that there now exists at least 2 instances for each planet as well as the faction fleets. This doesn't take into consideration the large number of instances for flashpoint, operations, etc. The result has been to reduce significantly the probability of any two players actually crossing paths with each other in any given instance. On Jung ma and on the Ebon Hawk servers(I have toons on both), I am often the sole player in an instance for entire planet's. for servers that have a low or light population, this is a killer to the gameplay experience. Open world PvP is non-existent, as well as any real opportunities for group content on any given world. There are too many instances dividing up what few players are still on the servers. This option to swap between PvP and pve instances strikes me as a little redundant when coupled with the open world level adjustments and the previous existence of designated PvP and pve servers. Now all the servers are defacto pve due to the low probability of actually seeing someone in the open world. Most of the remaining players seem to stay in pve instances. I think this relatively new feature should either be modified so that everyone is in the same instance together or just plain due away with it. Player numbers are too low to just practically double the existing number of instances and divide up players like this. It hit the lower population servers the hardest.
  7. I do not think that the problem is that there is too little space open for people to go out and cause trouble in but rather that there is a ton of space with no one really in that space. On Tatooine, there is as much space open to pvp as anyone could want; however that space is empty. Since that space is empty, there is no reason for anyone to go out there. Take the Dune Sea for example. There are several quest areas out in the dune sea; however they are far apart and there is relatively nothing in between those areas aside from a world boss and sand dunes. The odds of anyone coming across another player is low. Additionally, the dune sea is so large that a group of one hundred players can hide out in the dunes and never be found by anyone. As such, there could be fifteen or so people in the dune sea on both faction and no one will see each other. Bases are hot spots for activity. If you approach a base, you stand a far better chance of coming across a player than you would by trying to search the dune sea or the judland wastes. In other words, it is true that there is plenty of space to pvp in; however it is empty space. There is no incentive to go out in that space and if one does go out in that space, there is little chance that he'll come across anyone. If the guards around bases were once again level 50, it is true that people will get into the bases to attack low level players. This however is not a bad thing on pvp servers. This rather increases the chances for open world pvp but also localizes the pvp in well-known and easy to reach areas.
  8. I spend a lot of time doing open world pvp on the Jung Ma server. I have been playing SWTOR for a while now and I have noticed a drop in the amount of open world pvp on my server. Tatooine on my server used to be the place to go for open world pvp; there used to be 3 to 4 battles per day as well as the ever present possibility of being ambushed. Lately, I have noticed that Tatooine has been very quiet. I have noticed this reduction in open world pvp on other worlds such as Alderaan as well. This drop in open world pvp seems to have begun when the level of the NPCs guarding the bases for both factions were increased to 55. Since I only play on Jung Ma, I was wondering if anyone else has noticed an apparent decrease in open world pvp on other servers since the guards were leveled up. Additionally, I was wondering what others thought of the idea of reducing the level of the NPC guards around bases so that they would be level 50 again, as a means of promoting open world pvp.
