  1. If a droid has a neutral appearance and is referred to as it then how is it still coed as male?
  2. I'm pretty sure I've seen droids with female voices at least but i can't recall where. And i know a lot of the droids are referred to as it instead of he even with male voices.
  3. Yeah, it's mostly just me fantasizing. I doubt it would happen at all, and if it did certainly not for a while.
  4. Depending on whether the companions were class specific or not it could be as few as five additional companions, less if they make existing ones bi. It would be nice if everyone could have a little choice, but if they only did one of each that would be ok too.
  5. "Straight" also includes women, not just men. So adding more straight companions to make the numbers equal would involve adding in straight men, not just more women. What I think me and the person who originally suggested it meant was that each class should have 2 romance options total for every orientation and gender combo, not that we as an equal number for each on top of what already exists.
  6. I don't think there's anything wrong with adding more straight companions at the same time when/if they get around to adding gay or bi companions. Some of the classes only have one choice of romance option.
  7. Everyone is secretly straight dudes, we`re just all very good at roleplaying.
  8. Reminds me of those stories about guys pretending to be lesbians to cyber with girls and then it turns out in the end everyone is actually guys.
  9. Sorry, but can everyone please remember to mark spoilers? I'm pretty sure I know all the major plot points of Quinn's story and I haven't even finished Balmorra on my SW.
  10. We could always talk about Batman some more I'm actually amazed this thread hasn't been nuked yet. It's a little depressing.
  11. They're available between factions as well? That's just weird.
  12. It's not like the game isn't already full of gameplay and story segregation. Although it does seem kind of weird to make the class specific companions available to the whole faction. I don't think any of the other classes could handle Khem Val.
  13. That's too bad, I don't know why they'd go to the effort of creating new companions if all they really are is codex entries.
  14. I'm not actually. There are issues with how the concepts are used sometimes, but no, it's not some kind of special achievement to not be offended by a joke that isn't aimed at you.
  15. Data-mining was also saying a couple months ago that they were adding new class story content, which seems a little unlikely anytime soon. They've been wrong before, it's probably best to just wait and see.
  16. The link says they can be co-pilots in the section where it shows what positions all the current companions can fill. I think if they were going to give us a bunch of new unvoiced companions it would have made more sense to completely skip that and just have customizeable pieces of ship armour to fill the roles instead.
  17. Hopefully if they've gone into detail giving them different backstories they'll at least each have some conversations. They look like they could be interesting.
  18. Just because there are a bunch of people saying it doesn't necessarily make it right. It isn't automatically wrong, but the LGBT community has been going in some really weird directions the last few years with queer theory and the like. I know you're probably joking, but holy crap that list. Girlfag and guydyke, really?
  19. Then what is gender if it's just something you identify as? It's obviously not roles, or clothes or any of that. So if everyone can do anything what would make you a different gender besides experiencing dysphoria? Being transgender is a medical condition, and if other genders exist it makes sense that they would be similar. I'm not a member of any of the cultures that traditionally have third genders, but I know that a few of them are conflations of sexual orientation and gender identity, as in men who like men must be women, and others seem to be just different points of view on the people that in western cultures would be trans men or women. On the whole I find it's usually best to leave then out of discussions like these unless someone is actually in that culture as they are probably the ones that understand it more.
  20. That's the only reason I've ever seen people identifying as bigender or gender fluid though. They talk about how they like skirts and tuxedos, or how they always used to play with opposite gender toys as children. And what I said applies to agender people as well. If they don't experience dysphoria what makes them not cis?
  21. It's not necessary for trans people to have surgeries or hormones, that's true. There are plenty of reasons why people wouldn't, such as health issues, money etc. But it's not possible to be trans (FtM or MtF) without gender dysphoria because that's pretty much the defining characteristic of being transgender. It's not just about genitals either, it covers things like secondary sex characteristics and facial hair and the like. That doesn't mean that every woman who thinks her breasts are too big is trans, but it does mean that someone who is happy with their breasts and female genitals is probably not trans. I think a lot of this comes from people combining gender roles and gender identity and believing if they deviate from what is stereotypically appropriate for their gender than they must not be that gender. Experimenting with roles and presentation and all that is great, but it doesn't make you transgender.
  22. Why do you say that agender doesn't require dysphoria? I'd say if you're comfortable with your sexed body parts you're cis. To be clear I mean if you lack gender dysphoria, as most people probably have things they dislike about their junk. There are some people that experience body dysmorphia, but from what I understand that's different from dysphoria.
  23. There are plenty of things that aren't accepted in formal writing but are used all the time in everyday language, that doesn't really change things. And yes, that writing was understandable. It would probably take people a bit of getting used to to use 'they' in everyday conversation, but as I said earlier no more than it would to use zie. Possibly less as people are already familiar with the grammar structure of 'they'. I know what bigender is, and I do think it's possible/likely that there is a gender between male and female that experiences dysphoria. But given what is known about transexuality I don't think that genderfluid is an actual gender, and I'm not too sure about agender. It's possible that they are caused by different things from transsexuality though, and now that more people are saying they are these things there will be more research into it. Gender is the mental aspect, yes, but it's not just 'anyone can identify as anything' and then that's what they are. People who aren't cis are such because of gender dysphoria, and almost all the people I've seen who say they are some form of genderqueer don't actually have dysphoria, thus making it about expression rather than gender.
