  1. Good point, I didn't think of that but I know I have a few extra commendations from the areas. I should go ahead and use them. Thanks for the advice
  2. There are definetly different ways to make credits once you know what to do
  3. Now I know I am still learning this game but I would like to pass on some knowledge I have learned from playing so far. The most popular issue we new players deal with is how to get credits. This is the way I am doing it and it is working so far. I hope this helps answer some questions. These are my 3 choices for crew skills 1. Archaeology 2. Slicing 3. Underworld Trading Results achieved so far 1. Archaeology - I have picked out this one as I am able to not only send my companion(s) out on missions but I can find spots in the different areas I am leveling and get those free materials. When I sent my companions out I send them out on the Power Crystals as i find those to sell the fastest and bring in a good profit. 2. Slicing - I know everyone says pick slicing for making money and you know what, the are right . Not only do you make a little credits but you also receive schematics and other goodies you can sell for decent credits. Also you can pick up spots in those areas you level just like Archaeology so that = more free credits. 3. Underworld Trading - While this is strictly a mission and you can't find spots on leveling areas you do...or at least I have... made good money from doing these missions. I only pick the Underworld metals and not the other ones. I get a good selection of purple materials which sell pretty well. Tips: 1. SELL EVERYTHING - Including those greys, everything gives you credits. Make sure you sell those Bind on Equip pieces too since every now and then those will sell on the GTN. Don't forget if your short on inventory space and your in the middle of the world you can send your companion out to sell all grey items you have. They are only gone for a minute so it's worth the wait. 2. Get those gathering spots while leveling - This not only helps you level your crew skill but it also gives you free materials you can sell later. Even if you see a few mobs around the spot, just kill them (free exp) and get it. It won't take up much of your time. 3. Sell on the GTN in small groups - Don't sell in large chunks. I try to sell in this order - Greens = stacks of 20, Blues = stacks of 10, Purples = Stacks of 2. Doing it this way seems to sell the quickest. And make sure you look at the GTN prices to make sure you aren't overpricing it or underpricing that way it has the best chance to sell. Ok that is all I can think of that hopefully can help everyone just starting out. And if you don't think this is a workable strategy, so far through level 24 with the latest batch of materials I have earned 486k credits which I think is a good amount for a new character to work with. I hope to earn enough by the time I'm level 50 to pick a crafting skill and level it up. We shall see. Anywho I hope at least 1 player can use this information to their benefit. Have a great day everyone
  4. Thanks everyone for the great ideas, I decided to get Slicing, Underworld Trading, and Archaeology based on what I saw on the GTN and so far the mats I get at level 1 I have been able to sell very well (I think the credits coming in are good anyway lol). I haven't started selling my level 2 ones yet. The level 1 sold for anywhere from 3k for stack of 10, 6k for stack of 20 and some stacks of 20 as high as 10k. So through level 20 I have made around 135k which so far is plenty for me to work with for anything I need. Hopefully I can continue selling like this, if so when I send my companions on missions I shouldn't have a credit problem.
  5. Yuppers, I posted there a little while ago
  6. Haha, no problem I shall provide all info requested...yea right...I don't think that will ever happen unless I'm not in my own mind and don't know what I'm doing and hope that doesn't happen anytime soon.
  7. Hi everyone My name is Chad and I'm 29 (for those who find age important). I am a big computer gamer especially mmorpg games. I have played FFXI (6 years), WoW (4 years), UO (1 year), SWG (2 years) and other games for a shorter time. I don't know what mmorpgs have that I like but I keep coming to them. I guess it's the social scene that I don't have in real life. A short bio about me. I served in the US Air Force from 2001-2004 when stationed at Ramstein AB, Germany as an Aerospace Maintenance Journeyman on C-130s and C-9 aircraft. I loved it and if I could go back in I would in a heartbeat. Unfortunately I had to leave for medical purposes. My interests beside computer games are watching sports (HUGE fan of anything Florida Gator related), collecting sports cards and playing with my two cats. Well that's enough about me. If you have any questions I didn't provide information to feel free to ask away, I'll check this post often. Have a great day everyone
  8. Interesting thinking, maybe I'll give slicing a shot then. Decisions decisions lol Thanks Wispel
  9. I haven't leveled much of my Underworld Trading. I think I have made 1 blue piece since it was an upgrade. I send my companion out when I'm walking around in the city but as you said I do need him during combat for the most part. When I get the ability to do space missions I'll try them and see how they are. I wonder who gives more credits, pvp or space missions. I'll have to test both and see. I might end up waiting till I get to level 50..whenever that is... to finish the making schematics for all pieces of available gear acquired from the trainer. I will still have to buy my flyer at some point and I'm sure that's not cheap if it's compared to other games. Thanks for the comment Oggthebase
  10. Hmm I never thought about the pvp thing before (I think that is because I was unaware it gave credits lol), I'll give that a shot. I'm not a huge pvper but if it helps cover costs I don't mind doing it then. I have a lot of patience and don't rush through zones so I usually gather as much materials I see on the map as possible. And yes I do want to get all the gear upgraded as possible just in case I need to make something for someone at a low level if the time ever comes..I'm a helpful person..it might be my downfall in credits but oh well I guess. Thanks for the comments CondemnedMarine
  11. Hi everyone Sorry for the noob question (Still figuring this game out) I am a smuggler with gunslinger as my advanced class. After reading around people had suggested on other posts that armortech was a good way to go to provide gear for my class. I also picked Scavenging with Underworld Trading since my codex said those two went well for armortech. My question is As long as I gather every spot of scavenging through the different zones as I quest, will I be able to afford sending my companion on the missions and keep up my armortech without draining my toon of credits. This is my only toon so far so I don't have any other toons to get credits from. I read that slicing was a good way to build up cash but it said on the codex scavenging and underworld trading were needed so I decided to go that route I just hope I don't get drained at a certain level. I want to get my different medium armor pieces that I learned as I level it upgraded as high as possible before working on the next one. Don't know if this is possible to keep up but I hope so. Any advice or thoughts on the question would be greatly appreciated. Have a great day
