  1. This post is still going on? The game came out in October... I'll just say my random tidbits then. The game is a little to easy, though I am fine with it. I love level sync and the ability to level up quickly without having to feel like the game is a chore. Friends of mine that quit this game, have came back since KOTFE was released and they all love it. Why do we love it so much? Because we have jobs, and this game felt like a chore. Not because of the difficulty, but because the migraine of grinding is virtually gone. Now this game is fun and relaxing. I do believe the game is too easy though. My saber these days cuts through my enemies like....well....like it's a real lightsaber. I think the expansion is way to short but I'm willing to forgive that as I'm not paying another 15 dollars for the expansion on top of my subscription. I'm also willing to forgive all the bugs in this game, because this game originally was an immensely buggy, World of Warcraft on Star Wars steroids, with voice acting. And unlike everyone else who thinks this expansion is bad, I don't expect EA to spend the millions of dollars that it would take, to give us everything we want. We aren't even asked to buy the expansion, just be a subscriber which most of us who even get to level 60 already are. Remember, we are playing the most expensive MMO ever made right now and most of us didn't have to pay a dime for the new expansion. What did everyone expect?
  2. Just like I wonder how many people are actually founders..... I think you are wrong, I remember playing as Revan and watching him take off his mask and revealing his old self to me. I remember my shock as I found out that I was revan. I remember how you start on the endar spire and crash on taris, I remember killing davik and escaping taris' bombardment. I remember collecting the maps to find the star forge, and I remember the fight against malak and the cheat code that could turn him into a dancing twilek. Should I go into my experience playing kotor 2? If so do I choose to talk about the restored content mod parts, you know with the droid planet? The problem isn't the focus on story, it's the adherence to World of warcraft like gameplay. To the grind that was originally forced on us in the game, to having to repeat the same 5 to 7 types of quests four different times on each planet, to the disregard for the story by having situations set up where you are told "We are about to be killed, please come and help us." Yet you were practically forced to pick up all the sidequests after that, and then complete three of those side quests before actually saving the people that were just begging for you for help. The gameplay could have been so much better, the mechanics could have been better, the quests and everything else could have been so much better. But instead of taking a risk and doing something somewhat new then, they decided to rehash the old, to give us what was already given us. Sure, they gave us story, choice and voice but that's all cinematic, the gameplay is disappointing then and now but with the grind gone, the forced side quests gone, and level sync, things are getting better.
  3. Let me rephrase, the fact that this argument keeps popping up is just plain dumb to begin with, but causing in fights about it, threatening to leave is even worse. Although OP did not threaten to subscribe, it comes across as them trying to hold the game hostage just because a game that was made for story content has decided to put their already limited resources in on developing story content (which if you guys aren't paying attention has been postponed). Stop holding us hostage, forcing us to be World of warcraft. The majority of founding players were kotor fans who quit because without the voice and story, this game was a sci fi copy of world of warcraft. Bioware will obviously continue to make this game better and yes, probably destroy sections of the community but who cares? Everyone who wanted a star wars story like kotor 3 will come back and a majority of them will become loyal and faithful to the game. I do suspect that this game will be getting a boost from the new star wars movie. Which do you think is more entertaining to customers, Pvp content or story content? Thank you for your input, why do you play this game? The game was more bugged on launch than this. The quality of this game, is actually pretty good with the audio choices, voice, player choice, graphics and graphics. The game play is the same as world of warcraft which is okay. The slow trickle of story is probably their lack of resources at the moment. The argument that this game isn't going to last another year has been said since day one, guess what it's still here and people are returning. You know those people that played star wars games as they came out or the people that loved kotor? ya, they are coming back because the game has eliminated many issues that a story mmo would have if it were created as a carbon copy of wow.
  4. This has gotten ridiculous for two reasons: Reason one: The games was marketed as a KOTOR 3, as a STORY MMO. You joined a STORY MMO. Reason two: Why can't anyone argue on here with logic and be understanding? oh ya, it's the internet. I do disagree with this, because bioware is trying to create story content for a story mmo. What I do understand is that there is a lack of new content for you guys specifically, as it stands we have the issue that right now, they do not obviously have the developers to do both. I hope you guys understand that I'd much rather them create story content. I'll admit, the decision to create SWTOR instead of KOTOR 3 was a mistake. I followed development of this game for a long time, and the announcement that it was going to be an MMO was disappointing to say the least. I wish we could get both kinds of content but they have limitations. And I trust that the player base will increase with the way they are improving the game and focusing on story. I have never continued a sub in my life for an MMO but decided to do so with the 4.0 update. I'm not the only one who feel that way, quite a few of my friends came back to this game and subbed with 4.0 as well. The game is going towards the best place it can. You guys beating a dead horse won't change much right now.
  5. So after all the debacle with the companions and the drama that had arose from that, I never once had an opinion. I saw a lot of rudeness on either side, I thought that was fine. You lot care about the game, that's great, be passionate right? Why don't I explain myself before I go into detail as to why we need to rethink the rudeness. I have played this game off and one for a while, I recently came back and love it enough to fully commit. I'm one of the people that played Kotor and Kotor 2 thousands of times, adding mods and cut content. I followed the development of this game as much as I could. I play this game solo, bioware was pretty clear that you can solo if you want to, or you can group. Now I do, occasionally get into a group for heroics, flashpoints or something. Until the last patch, I never had a particular bug that needed to figure out (I seem to be lucky I guess). MMORPG gameplay was fairly self explanatory for me when I started this game. Now before this, my idea of the community here was that it was great, but since I have limited to no conversation with any of you, I honestly didn't know. This morning, I logged in to an alt, and found some of my equipment gone, not through hacking or anything easy to figure out. But because of a bug in the game. I was fairly lax about the ordeal, nothing of real important loss, so I went on to continue playing the game. Tonight though, I was curious about it. So I decided to go to my fleet and ask "Did the patch take my stuff?" Stupid question, I know but I didn't know how to word it, partially I wanted help with it, I'd never ever had to submit a ticket before. The response I got, in a fleet of 130 people was rudeness. Someone insisted that I was lying to myself, and others just kinda laughed and poked it along. Someone finally helped me though asked "What did you expect asking the fleet?" a few of them even said that questions always get sarcasm in the fleet. REALLY?????? This is the community, a bunch of twelve year old trolls that came from 4chan is the community? No matter how stupid the question is, I usually try to help the player or guide them in the right direction. But in a fleet of 130 people, the only people that responded were trolls and troll sympathizers. I read the posts made by solo players about the companion debacle, a resounding point is that Soloers do not like the community here. Now I kinda see that as probably just a few fish in the ocean of us, I can see why they feel like that. Because questions that are viewed as stupid are insulted by sarcasm. I want to end this on a good note. Be nice to people, you have no idea who they are on the inside. I hope those trolls are still laughing, after all, their jokes may have been rude but looking back, was kinda funny. But still don't be rude to people.
  6. Ok, so I completed the kotfe storyline with my jedi knight. I am currently working on leveling a few alternates up, though I did some researching and found that the storyline is the same for ALL classes. Am I the only one who finds the storyline for kotfe perfect for the jedi knight and a little....well out of place for the other classes? Maybe the force using classes is fine with this storyline but the Smuggler, Agent, Trooper and Bounty hunter just seem out there with it.
  7. This game has seen a lot of history, I've played as a subscriber before it was free to play and quit. I've played when it went free to play as a subscriber and I played as a subscriber during the recent 12x XP event. Ultimately, the question for Bioware is why I kept leaving. In part of my time, it has been because I had real life stuff going on and I didn't want to subscribe to a game that I wasn't going to play much of. In the other part, I found the game, a chore to play. I'll be truthful, I love star wars, I have replayed KOTOR 1 and 2 thousands of times. When SWTOR was announced I couldn't help but wait for it's release, I checked in every day to see how the game was developing to learn more about the game and it's community as a whole. I loved the idea of voice in a genre of MMO's that then and now is currently behind the times in gaming. I loved the idea of choice and I loved the idea of the galactic civil war. But when I first began playing swtor, my heart dropped. Sure, I had lightside and darkside choices. Sure, it was fully voiced and sure the graphics do have an iconic look towards them. But I had to admit the horror and disappointment to myself.... I was playing a science fiction copy of World of Warcraft. I honestly don't know what I originally expected anymore. But I played.... for the story. In the past I have quit because I often will create a character, spend an abundance of time on the character just to get them to level 30, (I understand that I am not that good at leveling characters.) But my time wore me dry, I wanted to play a different story line, I would create another character. If I created a character on the same faction, I quit at level 15. The grind killed it for me. As an MMO, the idea of grinding is what turns me away. Hours spent leveling up, doing the same type of quest over and over again really becomes boring. Sure, there are a few different quest types in this game but most are the standard 3 types, which can only become repeated so many times that it kills the fun. But I came back again. When I made the decision to return, I didn't know that the 12x XP event was going on, I found myself in love with the game. I spent more time on it as well. I found it easier to choose when and if to do the side quests, rather on forcing myself to do them. Sure, I can admit, the system has several flaws. But it allowed those of us who do not like the typical grind in an mmo to play the story and have some fun. I found myself later going back and doing quests that I skipped, just for the sheer fun of it or when my class story got boring. I quit again, in early of October. I quit because of life and because I didn't want to see what I had began loving, be destroyed by the stringent leveling of traditional MMO's. I came back a few days ago, a friend of mine who has struggled with this game for the same reasons, recommended I try to come back. I reluctantly re subbed and played through the KOTFE story line. I figured the games enjoy-ability was only applicable to the newest expansion. Assuming that the upgrades that had been made, weren't going to be substantial enough as to defeat the annoying time wasting that is a common occurrence in MMO's. My friend told me to create a new character. Within an hour of my new character, I realized that my initial summation of the new expansion upgrades to the game was wrong. Once more have I become enthralled by the game, as SWTOR has now defiantly stood against the trend of grinding gameplay that serves to only grind to teeth. The ability to level primarily on class story and a few side quests or flashpoints here or there is phenomenal, allowing us to choose how best we level up is the pinnacle the upgrades to this game. The change from the old stat system to the mastery stat system makes gearing up a lot less complex and a lot easier than it was before. Companion gear is no longer something that needs to be geared up as you level. This eliminates the headache of having to choose between gearing yourself up or your companion. This also allows you to style your companion up without having to worry about their stats. I wish I had this when I went through with my jedi knight originally, through half the game kira (my favorite companion for jedi knight) looked really weird. Honestly, it was quite cringe worthy. The ability to select your companion role is actually pretty well done, though I rarely had the issue of having to change a companion out just because I needed a companion with a different role, this does lighten the harder aspects of the gameplay considerably. Thought it seemed overpowered in KOTFE but not early class missions. The level adjustment system is very well done as I can now, use my higher levels to help friends on their quests without draining the XP they could gain. This isn't to say that this is the best game out there, or that some improvements are good or that the rest of the game does not need improving. In KOTFE, I felt that I could not die as my companions were extremely powerful. I do like a casual easy playing game but the fact that my companions are so easily overpowered, does kill some of the gameplay. I have heard that this can be turned off, I will look for that information. If I can, then this isn't really a complaint at all, in fact it's nice to have just in case I really can't win a fight or something. Capping my level to the area I'm in is a nice feature, but I wish I could have the option to turn it off, I enjoy exploration when I get bored with the story and I wish I could explore without having to fight everything that is around me, I do enjoy the ability to kill everything in one shot so I can go back to exploring. This however is a complaint that I am not to worried about, the benefits of the new system greatly out way the way it was before. There are bugs in this game that I find annoying, dead bodies are everywhere for instance. I have decided to, for the first time since 2007, continue my subscription as a long term player of this MMO. Thank you for turning the sci-fi World of Warcraft into something that the community here can be proud of.
