  1. The market takes care of that via supply/demand. People will only pay listing prices they are willing to pay. Listing deposit has zero factor from the purchasers perspective.

The only people I am aware of that don't like this change are people trying to undercut other listers by a small amount on high value items, knowing that the penalty to cancel and relist protects them for the listing period of their competition. You can no longer do that effectively, and frankly it was cheeze to do so to begin with.

Adapt, or leave the sellers market IMO. There is no QQing in baseball, or GTN merchandising in SWTOR.

First off, your assumptions about what I'm doing on the market are wrong. Secondly, it's rather obnoxious to suggest someone leave and QQ because they have a different opinion than yours. If you don't want to read other opinions, consider starting your own blog.
  2. Hate it. It encourages frivolous selling and unrealistic asking prices. It should require some thought and some research before you put an item up. Combined with the glut of apparently unwanted rare crafting items from the gambling boxes, I am not happy about the impact to the GTN. Just barely related, but the ctr-leftclick item preview of items on GTN is broken for some companions.

I know BW was under tremendous pressure to get the cartel shop out there and give the new model a try, but as someone who liked to use the GTN I can't say I like the impact it has had.

  3. Thanks for the info. I didn't even think much about the legacy until I read this post, just created it. Not much to unlock for me at the moment but I suppose I can save up the coins for it later.
Depending on what you want, some of the items unlock with Legacy Level OR Coins OR Credits. Your choice. Click on anything that has a Cartel Coin icon in the corner and you should see these choices.
  4. I earned my rights. I gave the united stated of America 5.5 yrs of my life in the USN. I was in the gulf escorting tankers on my FFG after the Stark insident and During the Vincennes insident. We had iranian speed boats armed with rpgs and 50 cal machine guns more than capable of hulling a naval vessal. I know about service and not having time off with my family. I worked an online service. I understand about not having time with ones family. I have personal experience. I know what I am speaking about. I know what sacrifice is. Do you?

You are a very bitter person from the tone of your writing.

Holy shyte. I better take another look at the EULA. Is it 5.5 years and then you earn rights, or are they pro-rated so you can get some lesser rights after 4 years??
  5. I found the most useful stuff you can buy with coins is not in the market at all. Look at the legacy unlocks, eg. rocket boost, mailbox for your ship, etc. Look there. If you really want gear, then see if any of the armor is to your liking or the orange crystals will be best in slot for any sub 50 toon. Lemme think... the Outlaw's armor looks pretty good except the helm. It's also got some flexibility to it, as fashionable black boots, pants, and gloves might come in handy if you mix and match later on.

Nothing else is all that exciting and the novelty wears off pretty quickly.

    .

Don't buy the gambling boxes! You might think you are going to end up looking like Darth Nihilus in a levitation throne with white lightsabers. But odds are you will end up being another shirtless doofus in invisible armor with a pink lightsaber. The former now gluts the GTN for a few thousand credits, the latter is glitched and can't even be sold. We don't even know those odds, which makes it a pretty poor gamble, and the odds can be tweaked up or down on a whim.

  6. Your crass attitude is not appriciated. I know full well how things are done during the holidays in a 24/7 net service. I was a producer at AOL back when it was a stand alone online service in the 90s. My daily job had nothing to do with working with the public. During the holidays, I was in rotation to answer questions concerning the properties my specific channel owned and load the main news rotation to the launch screen. I did this via VPN access over a modem. The point is in a online service industry it is common practice to have people rotate into key visible posistions to maintain customer satisfaction. They could easily have a forum moderator to field questions and rotate this each day to give some semblance of visibility.
LOL. You know how it's done cuz AOL wrote the book on customer service, amirite? Argument from authority is a logical fallacy. Argument from AOL is bewildering to say the least.
  7. I just thought I'd share this story... I logged on last night mainly to check out the GTN. I had huge, huge lag. The kind where the game sends you to your own personal Imperial Fleet gulag, and you have to stand alone and motionless waiting for the final kick back to the server screen. I restarted, and it happened again. Checked my connection and everything came up OK, yet it happened again.

Then I started thinking about hordes of F2Pers starting out, and incompetent BW having no idea how to handle the additional tax on the servers. I had a big ol’ rant brewing on the nerd range. I was going to QQ and threaten and cry salty nerd tears all over the forum and I know damn well I’d have had a chorus of support for blaming all my frustrations on F2P and BW.

For no good reason, because I already knew who to blame, I did a tracert. Instead of the proof I was looking for, I had a horror show moment like in When a Stranger Calls… the lag was inside the house. The why and the how is above my head, but my wireless card was reporting a good connection even though it wasn’t “N” or 5GHz. There’s nothing wrong with a 2.4GHz network per se, except when you know you aren’t running one. I reinstalled my Intel drivers, restarted, and the whole problem went away.

I expect a lot of witch hunting and futile nerd rage… like the kind I narrowly avoided :) Oh, and the massive devaluing of GTN items as attention and the initial glut of coins goes to the cartel market.

  8. Afterwards come back here, and tell us the info. Respectfully, you may as well not work at Bioware at all with the responses you give.
Telling someone they don't deserve a job for such trivial reasons is not respectful. It's also not rational. This isn't a decision maker, this is someone doing what they are told to do under the tough conditions of trying to satisfy some very obnoxious customers. Respectfully, show us how unhappy you are and QQ.
  9. I know it's not the solution everyone is looking for, but it does work. A few head pieces will cause the hood to toggle down (which also tells us the toggle is already in game, just no interface for it.) Ctr-left-click your way through what's available until you find one. I can think of one example off the top of my head: the adaptable social armor on Hoth includes a headband that causes hoods to toggle down.
  10. Hi I'm using the Razer Swtor naga and am wondering if using the macro recording feature would violate the SWTOR Terms and conditions
Is it worth it to begin with? Lets say you program your perfect opening combo. Then you get into a boss fight and something unexpected happens like you get knocked back, or in PvP you get rooted. You'll end up futilely running through your combo and all the abilities on cool down. Programmable input devices have been around forever, but I've never found them even as useful as key bindings.
  11. Nowadays even Dellienware has poor after-the-sale service. High initial quality is the best you can hope for, but anybody will be hating life if they get into a situation where they need timely help from the manufacturer. That's why I recommend reviews as an invaluable tool. And you are right, newegg will usually at least replace something for you.
  12. The Intel 4000 is supposed to be smart enough to switch transparently for you. Frankly, if it is not switching, you will know because the game will be unplayable with the on board graphics. If you want to be absolutely sure though, pull up the nVidia control panel and find the options for GPU switching by program. Make sure SWTOR is set for auto switch, or if you want, set it manually to the nVidia card.
