Playing an Operative here. I've also tried playing a Sorc; I can only say that I found the Sorc to be far more versatile than my Operative. Overall the operative just feels weaker - just solo with both of them and you'll notice that with a sorc you can far more easily down an enemy. Next to that, the mechanics for the operative are organized in such a way that having idiots in your team (not avoiding avoidable AoE for instance), you'll be hard pressed to keep the optimal regeneration in place. I haven't encountered that yet with the Sorc.
Still, I play my operative purely for the armor, annoying people with the healing droids and a sense of uniqueness when doing FP's.
