  1. Due to lack of overall interest, I am cancelling this event and would like to thank those who viewed and/or responded to this post.
  2. The Kurtob Alliance Speeder that came with the "Friends of SWTOR" promotion is not in the same mount armoring class as the Avalanche Heavy Tank and the Czerka CR-17 Incendia and thus is going to be allowed for the race.
  3. That is correct. The Avalanche and CR-17 mounts are not permitted due to the special levels of protection offered that are not available with other mounts, adaptable or otherwise.
  4. The two speeders that are listed as having "exceptional" or "extreme" protection against knockoff and thus would not be eligible for use are the Avalanche Heavy Tank and the Czerka CR-17 Incendia, links to which can be found below: http://www.torhead.com/item/fi9s5wM/avalanche-heavy-tank http://www.torhead.com/item/aDU7joJ/czerka-cr-17-incendia Animal mounts are permitted for those who wish to use one of the Tauntaun mounts or the Varactyl mount.
  5. Attention racing fans from around the galaxy! My name is Desa'llan'atuno and as GM of Black Sun Rising I would like to invite any and all interested racers to join us on Saturday, September 28 at 6:30 PST, as our guild will be hosting a mounted race on the planet of Ilum, specifically in the Western Ice Shelf where the Gree event is held. Now as some of you might recall from our first race held this past February (the Boonta Eve Classic) - there was a PvP element to that mount race. This will hold true to the Western Ilum Ice Rally as well, as there will be several zones within the course that will be designated as ambush points, where "ambushers" can slow, stun or otherwise hinder racers attempting to pass. With that being said, I will point out now that ambushers are not to kill or intentionally dismount racers. The focus is on the race and the racers, and the ambushers' focus is to provide a dynamic and interactive element to the race. Details regarding the race course including course layout, checkpoints and other specifics are listed below as follows: Course Layout: The Western Ilum Ice Rally course will begin at the tunnel mouth that leads into the Western Ice Shelf, then travel northward towards the Gray Secant. Once passed the Secant, the course will come back downward, through the Contested Zone and keep progressing along a southern path until racers reach the finish line, which will be in the abandoned base at the southernmost point on the Western Ice Shelf. Attached below is a map view of the course, indicating the start line, checkpoints and finish line: http://i.imgur.com/SHPWpJ5h.jpg Racer Rules: There will be several rules that racers will be required to follow as they progress through the race: 1) Racers will be required to pass a series of checkpoints that are located throughout the race. 2) Racers that fail to pass a checkpoint in the approved manner will be disqualified. 3) There is no restriction regarding the speeder piloting license (I, II or III) that players use. 4) Mounts that are immune to knockoffs are not permitted for use in the race. 5) A racer who has been knocked off of their speeder may run out of an ambush zone before remounting. They are not required to be mounted at the time of exiting an ambush zone. 6) Racers must be on their mount when crossing the finish line. An unmounted racer crossing the finish line will be disqualified. There will be several rules that ambushers will be required to follow as they carry out their job functions: 1) Ambushers will be situated at one of several areas, which will not be mentioned yet to maintain an element of surprise. 2) Any racer who enters an ambush zone is subject to being ambushed by members of a given ambush team. 3) Any racer who is dismounted within an ambush zone may not be targeted until they have remounted. 4) Once a racer exits an ambush zone, members of the given ambush team may no longer slow, hinder or otherwise interfere with said racer. 5) Any ambushers who continue to pursue a racer who has exited an ambush zone will be subject to removal from the event by a race warden. Checkpoints: There will be a series of checkpoints that racers will be required to navigate in order to progress along the course (which are listed in the map outline), and each checkpoint will be manned by a warden in order to ensure that no one attempts to circumnavigate them and gain an unfair advantage. Attached below are screens of each of the checkpoints; each screen will have an indicator noting the checkpoint and how to pass it: http://i.imgur.com/BgZvqhph.jpg?1 - Race Start Line http://i.imgur.com/05gacw6h.jpg?1 - Checkpoint #1 http://i.imgur.com/eS9PvUZh.jpg?1 - Checkpoint #2 http://i.imgur.com/7BlAClPh.jpg?1 - Checkpoint #3 http://i.imgur.com/hw4DjEch.jpg?1 - Checkpoint #4 http://i.imgur.com/xQkl8Pfh.jpg?1 - Checkpoint #5 http://i.imgur.com/hk1t4XJh.jpg?1 - Checkpoint #6 is passing the Heroic spire and Checkpoint #7 is entering the Hyperdome http://i.imgur.com/PNAz3Hvh.jpg?1 - Checkpoint #8 http://i.imgur.com/7EiW3kJh.jpg?1 - Checkpoint #9 http://i.imgur.com/4I4I76ah.jpg?1 - Checkpoint #10 is passing under the archway and Checkpoint #11 is passing the far side of the glacial formation http://i.imgur.com/1bO3voUh.jpg?1 - Checkpoint #12 is the entrance to the base http://i.imgur.com/b5PK0xRh.jpg?1 - Race Finish Line Prize Structure: There will be prizes awarded for the top three racers, and each racer who finishes in the top three has the option of accepting the listed prize or taking a credit reward instead: First Place: Emote: Point and Laugh - or - 750,000 credits Second Place: Mandalore the Preserver armor set (all six pieces) - or - 500,000 credits Third Place: GSI HMF-03 Exploiter speeder (all four parts) - or - 250,000 credits Special Notes: Anyone who is interested in signing up for the race can feel free to post below with their character and guild name that they wish to enter. Anyone who is interested in being an ambusher or wishes to know more details can feel free to send me a forum message, message my character Desa'llan'atuno in-game, send a message to my Enjin profile, DarthGrammar or check out my guild's website at http://blacksunrising.enjin.com/home. With all of that being said, I look forward to hearing from people about the race and I will see you all on raceday.
  6. Hi all, this is Desa'llan'atuno of BSR. I'm adding two .jpgs of the course, noting checkpoints, coordinates, directions and any relevant course notes in the event that anyone wants more specific clarification on the layout of the Boonta Eve Classic: http://i.imgur.com/hr2svTy.jpg http://i.imgur.com/9UH0a8X.jpg Feel free to reply if there are any other layout specifics that you would like clarified before tomorrow's big race.
