  1. You have completely missed the point so many times its stopped being funny. His post is all about how its "ok for you to gear your character the way you want to and here are some of the ways people like to." Mine makes it abundantly clear that this is not that case and explains why those different ways are bad. Too many people out there have this delusion that because this is an mmo they are entitled to do things however they want to and everyone else is expected to put up with their stupidity. Thats not the way it works and people need to understand this. Giving them a different impression is irresponsible, at best.
  2. So, basically, what youre saying here is that you didnt. Ok. Thanks for confirming that for us.
  3. If youre only doing 2k, changing classes will not make a difference. You should just stick with the vanguard/powertech since you already like the class/spec. Focus on something you enjoy first.
  4. Ignore this guy. Using enhancements for Surge/Alacrity and wasting augment slots on more than two Acc augs is a complete waste. Dont do it. You want to get most of your accuracy through enhancements and only use the bare minimum of augments to get to an Accuracy value you are comfortable with. Furthermore, you only really need to worry about getting to 100% accuracy if youre playing at DOT damage focused spec (like Madness, Annihilation, Lethality, or IO). DOTs check your accuracy stat per tick instead of at the application and with multiple dots running constantly this can lead to a much more significant dps loss. Other specs, like AP, Rage, Deception or Arsenal suffer less from sitting slightly under the accuracy cap. However, you should go absolutely no lower than 99.5% with them. Id suggest 99.7%.
  5. This is so incredibly wrong. If youre incorporating as much endurance as you can you are a bad tank. End of story. Just because tanks tend to use B mods now does not mean that HP stacking is a thing. The only reason they do that is because the low endurance enhancements are now available. This lets tanks sacrifice personal DPS for survivability (which is a trade that any good tank will take in a heartbeat). Tanks also have access to effectively larger defensive stat pools than before making the diminishing returns on defensive stats start to matter when looking at the trade off in survivability between more absorb/defense and more HP. Please remember that this is a group game and, especially if you are the tank, the other people in your group are depending on you to perform the best you can. If you set up your gear in a way that hampers the group, youre not only being rude, inconsiderate, and stupid, but youre also probably going to get kicked. If you are dead set on "playing your own way" there is plenty of solo content out there (and much more on the way...) for you to derp about in. If you want to do group content, either gear yourself correctly or accept the possible(probable) consequences.
  6. Prepare yourself for disappointment. Edit: Just in case someone decides to misinterpret the teaser info from the main page and then thinks they can get cheeky http://dulfy.net/2015/06/22/swtor-massively-preview-reveals-no-more-class-stories-in-kotfe/
  7. Actually, yes, you were. You really, legitimately were. Also, just because you use the phrase "Logical fallacy" doesnt mean there was one there. (There wasnt). Finally, if you want to talk about reading comprehension skills... lol. God. I cancelled my sub a couple months ago.
  8. "Updated old ones" = recycled content = a BAD thing We already did them. We have been doing them all along. They are old news.
  9. I ignored it because it was completely irrelevant. I could go through a lovely list of reasons why it was a pointless comment but that has no bearing on anything this thread is about. Finally, its not my problem if you cant understand what Im saying, willfully or not. I dont really care.
  10. I take it you think youre coming off as high and mighty or something like that? Everyone knows youre lying. The fact that you cant come up with anything more than "LALALALALALALALIMNOTLISTENINGLALALALALALALAAL" is pretty telling as well. You presume Im stating an opinion. Im not, its a solid fact. Get over it or just put me on ignore if you cant stand having your outlook on the universe corrected.
  11. From what Ive seen, the appellation isnt far from the truth. And, frankly, its not possible to win a debate on the internet. Never has been. You cant force someone to listen to reason when they are sitting safely behind their computer screen. Anonymity and the complete freedom to exist in total denial of reality.
  12. No. Lol. Let me guess, the only "mmo" that you have ever played is swtor.... Sheesh. End game raiding was the point of an MMO. If you want to stick your fingers in your ears, screw your eyes shut and sit in a corner screaming "Im not listening" go for it. Wont change the truth. Game developers realised they could expand their markets by, to be melodramatic, sacrificing the "heart and soul" of the game on the altar of the credit card. So they did it. And here we are. Let me remind all of you "Oh my god, there are 8 different storylines with light and dark side options for variability" people that Bioware has specifically stated that there will NEVER be class story EVER again. SoR saw the LAST of it. The story from here on out does not change based on class. And since they are clearly going for a faction neutral approach, it clearly doesnt depend on faction, either. You getting one story. It may have some options you can choose between but it will end up in exactly the same place. Why? Because this is an MMO. You dont have room to have multiple different endings because all players are stuck in the same little universe. Want to know why this game tanked so hard after launch? They focused too much on story. They spent millions creating 8 different story lines and voice acting EVERYTHING for all of them. And they had no endgame. So people quit, in droves. What do you really think will happen now?
  13. You do realise that story happens once, right? Endgame in an MMO is about progression and replayability. Once you do the story quests... thats it. You did them. They are done and over with.
  14. Why? Afraid to face the truth? There are so many people out there playing this only to kill time, who have no interest in learning how to play, improving, or challenging themselves in the slightest. Sounds like a dinky browser game mentality to me. Blizzard started it. They discovered that if you throw a few bones to the casual gamer (I dont know what else to call them) they throw money back at you.
  15. Operations, (IE, Endgame) used to be the point of an MMO. There was a leveling process where you could explore, get introduced to the beginnings of the story and learn how to play your class gradually. Then, once you hit level cap, you started the 'real' game. You geared up, figured out how to do the fights and take down bosses and saw how the story ended. Nowadays it has become 'fashionable' to play an MMO. They have gone mainstream and have a much larger playerbase. You have a bunch of people who should probably be playing Farmville on Facebook or whatever the internet equivalent of "Dress Up Barbie" would be (Second Life maybe? I really dont know). In order to appease these people (most of whom either do not care about raiding or arent good enough to do it) most MMO's have been dumbed down considerably and considerable focus has been diverted from endgame raiding to other random things for the "casual player." The problem with SWTOR is you have a ton of people here who wanted KotOR 3; who were attracted to the game because of KotOR 1 and 2. MMO's are fundamentally different from single player RPGs but most of these people refuse to accept that. Unfortunately, there are so many of these people and Bioware has spent so much time pissing on the raiding community and driving them away that its now more profitable for them to make their MMO into a subscription-based single-player RPG with an integrated online chat room. So now we have Star Wars: Mass Effect, where Commander Shepard wakes up from a 5 year Carbonite nap, and putters about the galaxy rebuilding his team to take on the evil Collec- Eternal Empire of Whatever that are probably fronting for the Rea- crap, sorry, Emperor Spooky-Ghost who wants to wipe out all life in the galaxy.
  16. I can tell that you dont do ops... Recycled content is not content. Its game developer laziness..
  17. The reality of the situation isnt quite as alarming as the OP thinks but he does have a point. This is an MMO. To most people that means a focus on larger scale, group content. Except Bioware is now going to be focusing on single player story for how many months? So far the only concrete thing that I have seen from them on the kind of endgame content that will be available in October is ... recycled content. IE, stuff that we have already done. For those of you who dont raid, allow me to clue you into something. Recycled content is not new content. Its not interesting, and its not fun and its not what we are expecting to see for our subscription fees. Even if they do come out with one completely new operation with the KotFE update, raiders are still getting shafted.
  18. Man. This is so disappointing. I was hoping this would be another one of those "Jung Ma High Council of Egotistical, Megalomaniacal, Overly-Self-Righteous Blowhards" threads. I got out my bubble-bursting pin and everything.
  19. In addition to the other problems that have already been pointed out, there is no mention of guard. At all. *Insert pointless line here about how you shouldnt post guides about things you clearly do not understand*
  20. I cant go anywhere without running into Azn making puns... Just checking in on the forums, looking at the drama and WHAM! Puns.
  21. Every single MMO out there with the standard role trinity has this problem. People by and large dont want to do it and thats never going to change. And, even if you try and incentivise it similar to the way WoW does with bonus loot bags or something, youll only make the problem with group finder quality worse. The issue is most people out there dont really know what they are doing (and that is also something that is never going to change). This is coupled with the fact that, for the most part, Tanking is graded on a binary, Pass/Fail scale, while DPS get effectively a nice 100 point range to perform on. Most of the flashpoints out there can be cleared with underperforming dps with little to no mishap, things just take longer. If you get a bad tank, people tend to start dying. People dying triggers wipes, raging, drama, rage-quits and a whole lot of other junk that no one wants to have to deal with. Best solution to this problem? Join a guild, make your own groups and let the pugs derp around in group finder by themselves.
