  1. It's not that I don't have sympathy for players with connection issues (we have players in our guild that sometimes get DC). But at the end of the day, it isn't incumbent on me to waste my game time waiting to see IF someone reconnects. That's not to say we won't ever wait at all, but at the end of the day you have to see things from the other point of view: I just don't have the time to deal with players who are constantly disconnecting or who disconnect and take 10 mins to get back. I don't think it's your fault, I'm not trying to point fingers and assign blame... It just is what it is.
  2. I hear ya. However, I don't think F2P players can post on these forums, AND, chances are if they are that inconsiderate in-game I highly doubt they are reading the forums for self improvement I don't know what I would do in your situation though... Advertise you are only LFG with players who have subs? I don't know if that breaks any game policies but its equally not fair to be forced to have your game experienced ruined by players who have no consideration for anyone but themselves. The other possibility is that there is an explosion of very young players (as in >12yrs). For obviously reasons, this player demographic would rarely make for a good group.
  3. The P2W mentality is that it is easier to buy then to grind. In other words, unless you're broke as hell, why would anyone choose to grind out 4 million over spending $5? So my point is lower the cost in legacy to say 1 or 2 million if the CC cost is goin to be at its current rate. I understand that credits - real money is a subjective topic... However my rule of thumb would be to set the cost so that an "average" player would be inclined to see the choices available to be balanced. I understand EA wants to make more money and I don't have a problem with that... But when you start to encourage a community that lacks any sense of *delayed gratification* you, IMO, start to degrade the MMO. As an adult I completely get and agree with the argument that not everyone can grind hours of game time per day. So for us adults who can afford it, buying via CC is, IMO, fair. But when you set the price such that it would make more "average" subscribers more inclined to spend $$$ over playing the game and "working for it" (even if you have the time to do so) then you not only take away from the player who invested significant time to buy it, you encourage people to just buy things because its insane to spend days earning 4mil when for most adults, $5 isn't crap. So if you want to sell it for $5 bucks because that's all that perk is demmed worth, then reflect that in future legacy cost by reducing the in-game credit cost to make that option more competitive. In other words, EA shouldn't, IMO, start down the path of encouraging people just to buy perks, items, armor, ect instead of giving two "reasonable" options. Again, I conceded the final cost ratio is subjective.
  4. I'm from Texas and I prefer east coast servers.
  5. I don't think calling a mouse clicker a "bad player" is the most constructive way of addressing the topic, BUT key binding is a superior way to play SWTOR. I mouse clicked for the first couple of months of subscribing. I found it to be exceedingly difficult to adapt to various end-game mechanics... Especially being able to realiably interrupt while running through my rotations. Once you realize how much easier key binding makes your life, I don't think anyone would go back.
  6. Because it diminishes a player's accomplishment. While I have not unlocked the rocket boost myself, I have grinded out armor, schematics, and various mods/enchancements. If EA is going to offer an alternative way of gaining these items, the cost should be a little more in-synch with the efforts players who bought / unlocked it with credits put into it. I think that's only fair. I'm not arguing that EA shouldn't change credit costs, drop rates, ect as they deem needed for the evolving game, I'm just saying lets make sure the CC cost matches the alternative method. Otherwise the system encourages pay-to-win.
  7. It's a tough situation to be in... But to be honest 14 characters is a LOT of toons. How can anyone really need that many alts? I get your boy(s) play on your account, but still! Since EA will likely not be of any help, I think you just need to weed out some of your duplicate toons and set some limits on your kidos as to how many characters they can make. I have 3 kids myself and my two oldest (12 and 8) have such sloppy habits when it comes to junking things up. Gotta lay down the law man
  8. I agree with copperdog here. The rocket pack and GTN for your ship were the two big ticket items to work for. While, if you know the "ins and outs" of what sells on the GTN, credits are hardly a big deal a lot of folks did work hard to unlock these perks by running countless dailies. Basically giving it away for a relatively small amount of CCs is bad customer service in my opinion... Not that I have any expectation EA will give a damn, let alone reimburse any players their credits back.
  9. I overall agree with the OP. I will disagree with some of the generalized bullet points of what makes a player "bad". Some game aspects need to be learned through experience, trial & error, and the willingness to listen to other more experienced player's advice.
  10. It would be cool if BW/EA added lvl 50 daily areas on all planets. Running >50 heroics once you're in Columi or better is beyond boring: You-Can-Not-Die. If I went to tat with the gear I have, I could literally start a fight, go for a smoke break, come back 10 minutes later, and still be alive. As "easy" as Ilum/Corellia/Bel dailies are, you can still get killed if you took a 10+ min /afk break.
  11. In two words: You Don't The vast majority of a PT shieldtech defenses is passive migration which does not stop 90% of PvP damage. In effect, your shields are useless in PvP because tech / force attacks from other players go right through them. As a PT shieldtech myself, our class is the absolute worse PvP tank class. In PvE we are great though as NPC attacks are largely shield'able. Some die hard tanks put on DPS spec armor for PvP... but honestly, for PTs, that’s a stupid move. Even changing cylinders your DPS sucks and without the heat management abilities of the pyro or AP trees you WILL over heat in record time....
  12. I understand what the OP is saying... however, there is not a quick fix to the problem. The good news however is that there is a "work around": join a active PvE guild that places a emphasis on game play, not loot and comms. No, these guilds are not easy to find, but once you do the player will be able to learn, understand, and enjoy each FP experience.
  13. As a shieldtech, I find unload useful is specific situations. While it is not in my regular rotation, IF (for example) I'm doing the Black Talon and I jet charge into a mob and there is some low hp trash at a distance (instead of wasting grapple), I can lob an ED at them followed by unload. If you're running a daily (shieldtech or not) and you're bored and looking for new ways to kill trash, you can use unload or ED followed by a shoulder slam. Or use unload followed by a railshot. There are situational uses for unload... But I have to agree with the other poster that generally speaking unload is not the most efficient dps ability to use.
  14. To the OP: I think most people here are on your side. Try not to let gear snobs like that get to you
  15. If you're lvl 50, the dailies on Ilum and the Black Hole on Corellia can be done in about an hour. First couple times you do them it probably will take longer.... But once you get your routine down, you can make around 200k an hour doing them. As others said, space missions can be a quick and easy cash cow. Crafting can eventually net you a decent profit as well. Running flashpoints for loot is good... Farming mats can really make you some serious $$$ but you will have to learn what the best mats are and where to get them. As a lvl 400 scavenger with the ability to send out five companions (all 10k affection) on missions for specific compounds / metals, I can make mad profits (once you're established and know what you are doing I'm talking millions of credits).
  16. The healer is my best friend in any situation as a tank. I'm always aware of where he or she is and do everything I can to keep them alive. In fact, I haven't had to quit a single HM FP due to drama so far (knock on wood). I have had to quit a grp in the BH running the heroic there because I did have a healer who completely ignored me and was just healing the others in the grp (I wasn't tank spec'ed though)... Really left a bad taste in my mouth and am kinda sensitive to any grp member who decides to single someone out as "punishment" for not following some unwritten protocol. It's like, not everyone knows how to play their toon to their max. I have been in so many grps where someone would always break CC, or a DPS'er who ignores trash only to help me (tank) kill an elite or boss... Unless they are being a genuine d*ck I try to roll with the punches and look at it as a challenge. I've never decided for instance to force an eager DPS'er to "tank what he pulls" you know? I'm the tank, and as the tank I'm going to do my role to the best of my ability regardless of the other group member's lack of skill / team work / noobness. But if someone is like, "you did what? Oh screw you, you're on your own" (like what happened to me in the BH when I was learning dps) I could see myself going "f-you, I'll just instant que in a new pug" I would never leave good intentioned players hanging though... And if it was just one person, I would first try a group kick before throwing in the towel.
  17. Hey inknform, We would love to have a lvl 25 IA in our guild man. I have a lvl 23 IA operative myself in the guild and am having a blast with her (Aruru). We could always run sub 50 flashpoints together both for the fun of it and the good loot they drop. And when you do get to 50, you'll be in a guild that is not so well-established and old that most of everyone is already geared and burned out on the "lower level" HMs. I look forward to catching you in-game (also feel free to shoot a whisper to Sorcero, our guild leader)
  18. Hey JediKnighz, I think you might find our guild a perfect match for ya man. We're small, but active and include several college students (including myself) that completely understand the demands of school. Another cool aspect to our guild is that we are all in the process of gearing up for end-game content, running HMs FPs and getting ready to start some guild OPs in the near future. We're all adults, laid back, enjoy shooting the sh**t with one another, and looking to have a good time. If you're interested send an in-game whisper to either myself (apotheosis) or our guild leader (Sorcero). Hope to hear from you!
  19. While I do not condone rage quitting, as a tank I do get pretty much instant ques so I don't have a lot of motivation to work with a grp who aren't going to keep me healed. Why go through a HM that's going to cost me 50k in repairs? Only exception is when the whole grp is trying their best and I'm not dealing with attitude from the "dime a dozen" healers and dps'ers. Then I don't mind the mission costing me money... Atleast everyone is having fun doing their best... I once pug'ed into Kaon with a very under-geared guild. Took almost 3hrs to do what should take 30-40 mins. It was fun though and everyone was cool.
  20. As a tank myself I usually throw my guard on my healer. Bottom line: the healer is my life line and I their's. if the DPS'ers are doing their job right, they shouldn't need it. Why? Because as others have said, it is my job to hold the toughest in the mob while the DPS'ers take out the trash. When its time to work my mob, they (the DPS'ers) ought to focus on one elite at a time (to which I can keep aggro using my taunts). It gets all kinds of f-up when each DPS'er is ignoring the trash and each randomly hitting the mob I'm trying to control WHILE the healer is throwing in some AOE for "good measure". In a situation like that all I can do is bust my butt to keep the healer alive. So, for me, I find the guard is most useful on a healer in most of the pugs I run. On the off-chance I get a good crew (or running with guildies) I may throw my guard on a melee DPS'er... But again, if they are both doing their job right they shouldn't need it
  21. I wanted to respond here as well. I think WRIS might be the perfect match for you. We are not a large guild but we are active; adults (two of us engineering students); polite; PvE oriented. We are currently in a growing phase and actively looking for similar players to ourselves. If you are interested shoot me (apotheosis) or my guild leader (Sorcero) an in-game whisper or email
  22. Hey Eristede, I wanted to respond to your post here. WRIS is an adult imperial guild that is mostly PvE focused. We are not large, but we tend to be active on weekday evenings (8pm / 9pm ish central time and on) as well as the weekends. If you're interested in knowing more, shoot me (Apotheosis) or my guild leader (Sorcero) an in-game whisper or email.
  23. Hey Inknform, If you're still looking to maybe get with a more consistant crew, shoot me (Apotheosis) or my guild leader (Sorcero) an in-game whisper. Our guild is small, but we tend to be online in the evening (9pm central time). Of all my guild, I tend to be on the most... I'm a powertech tank and you could get some practice doing some HMs with me.
  24. I play stereotype roles personally. My warriors and tanks are dudes, my healers are chicks. I think it "fits" better... Plus, as others have said, different voice acting and romance options are interesting
