Maybe consider the Corellian AA turret from the Meridian Complex flashpoint aswell :) Never seen that one ingame in anyone else's stronghold or as a drop.

1000% agree farmed that on MM and Vet and nothin, i assume it never drops, and my fellow decorators have never seen it either.

its a good thing that the developers now also see that we have to much companions and a realy small limit of options to use then since most of the companions we have now by story line, cartal market. achievement, old sub rewards and gelactic seasons that most of then are doing notting since we all not going to use the 20+ companions at all only use 9 off then.

    I'd still like a Rancor companion :D

  4. So to reiterate, we are not getting a new companion for galactic season 5 and onwards? because the wording on the first post was a bit wonky, it sounded like you said "We are no longer making the seasons focused on the new companion" but does that exclude new ones being added?

Honestly, I'm not in a rush for Galactic Season 5.  I'd like there to be some downtime between Seasons, to prevent burnout and to give more time to do non-Season content.

To be honest, i finish the season within the first month, so for me these last few weeks have been my "break" so honestly i see no reason we cant get a new season right off the bat of the last one.

    It’s really not unbelievable.

the base game had 800 staffers prior to release:

https://www.gamespot.com/articles/star-wars-the-old-republic-cost-200-million-to-develop/1100-6348959/#:~:text=New report recounts creation of,to bring game to market.

    WoW has several hundred:

    https://www.laptopmag.com/news/wow-plans-to-add-100-new-staff-members-via-blizzard-acquisition-what-does-this-mean-for-dragonflight

we can split hairs over the use of “developer” (the article is probably conflating developers and all FT staff) but the reality is 80 people on the team is not unrealistic

Yeah you also gotta remember that server technician, coffee boy, and community manager can all fall under the umbrella of "developer"

Whoa whoa everyone... I was hoping me telling you about the upcoming releases would help you understand this is a new beginning, not the end.

We have more stories, modernizations, and MMO content already being planned out beyond 7.4.  While details are being discussed and finalized behind the scenes, let's not spin this into incorrect theories.  I am asking you to hang tight and we'll follow up later with more details when we can.

    -Keith

Info or we riot, you cant just say "we plan to hand you over to a company that has a long history of letting games rot without content updates." and then expect us not to speculate the worst.

    i wouldn't say i'm "excited" , but i'm definitely a mix of....concerned & curious.

    Bingo ^ .

i went thru all the possible emotions ( especially rage at LucasArts ) when SWG shutdown, but i'm not really sure yet  how i'll feel about SWTOR's inevitable  ending.

Sorta depends on whether or not the next Star Wars MMO will be coming soon  to "replace" it  how SWTOR tried to do for SWG.

Yeah  for me i dunno, i just can't see myself getting into  an SWTOR emulator  the way i was so passionately ( and professionally ) for the original SWGEmu . ( the one from which everyone else eventually borrowed our code  :ph_cheers:  )

     Yeahhhhh riiiiightt, EA.

( i def.  feel for  @KeithKanneg and  @JackieKo and most of the other BioWare team , but i'm very suspicious of EA  tbqh. )

p.s.  This news gives me even more incentive to finally get that goshdarn  NiM 'gods' cheevo!

I don't think i can get into any new SW MMO if it's set in the new lore, i've really not liked anything beyond rogue one and the first season of Mano. The rest of Disneys actions have ranged from horrid to questionable when it comes to the I.P.

Kind of what I suspected.  This whole switch-over to the cloud stuff and the 64 bit change was just to make it possible for the transition to take place.  Otherwise, NOBODY would have messed with SWTOR as it was.

    [/shrugs]

Oh well .. time to move on now.  This is beyond anything that any of us can do to change the outcome.  What's done is done!

Exactly, still want a proper cry over it though, its been apart of my life for 12 years.

From quick research, Broadsword has about 26 devs and for the past few years have maintain mmos, it's added new content, but mostly they fix bugs, make changes, but nothing massive. This is just from a quick search so maybe i'm wrong.  it's not connected to EA I don't think. No idea on if they be able to maintain it, that will be a wait and see thing.

I can’t imagine this game would be appealing to a lot of studios. Aside from the IP, it’s notoriously difficult and expensive to develop for. The fact that Broadsword is the best they can find tells you all you need to know.

Yep. at least this means i can enjoy my CM items and Stories for at least another year before i fully swap over to FF14 and WoW

They’ve already found the studio that’s going to pick it up. They have a letter of intent. And it’s a terrible studio.

To be fair games have been known to bounce between several studio's when they enter a point like this, but usually they are earlier on in their development cycle, so unlikely it will bounce to another one after this. RIP

The difference from SWTOR and the other game they already own is that this game actually make money. Secondly, why is everyone so mad? EA has been ruining this game for years. You should be excited that this game is finally going away from EA.

EA has clearly shown that they don't give a crap about SWTOR for years. I'm excited that EA sold it off.

    BEST DAY EVER!!!

Broadsword is still under E.A. and second alot of the games they run still made money, until they didn't. Finally even if they intend to act 100% different from their past, they likely won't have the money/assets to do so.

Crazy to me that we can see exactly what the new developers do with the games they done (absolutely nothing) and people ITT think, for some reason, that they’re going to invest heavily in this game. Lol

The game’s either gonna run in maintenance mode for years until it dies, or they’ll sell it off to another dev team that might do something with it.

but the fact of the matter is that Broadsword is not going to invest in the game. They’re certainly not going to pay for the ludicrously expensive voice acting costs this game requires. I would be stunned if they want to spend a bunch of time and money working in an engine that’s notoriously buggy and difficult.

the conclusion here is obvious. And it’s devastating! It’s really sad. I’ve been defending this game for a long time. But it finally is coming to an end.

My thoughts exactly, i just hope we get an ending to the story, but not likely.

If you were around during Rob Denton days, you should be excited.

Still a studio known for Maintenance mode with not updating it's I.P's I just don't see this being a good change, then again this game has been limping along ever since they took away the funding/assets from the game to focus on Anthem.

  15. Sad to see this games decline, as its so unique now with the Disney buyout, i doubt we will get a game like it, or even on its ambitious level ever again. Esp set in the old republic, a timeline and setting Disney seems to be Actively avoiding in favor or post Galactic empire/High republic which both are kind of a Meh setting as it is.

You are right on what they have been doing, however at least according to IGN, there transferring over half of the current swtor devs to the studio (currently 80 working on swtor according to ign), which is about 40-50 are being transferred to broadsword, (not sure on the exact number). Which is something EA or any company would not do at all if the plan was maintenance mode, they would just fire all of them. Also Just because they have been doing very little for other games, any studio can change direction on plans. Maybe i'm wrong but since they are transforming over 40 devs, I see no reason to believe swtor is going into maintenance mode from what we currently know.

For me at least new studio, new leadership, it could be a good thing, I honestly be kind of hoping for it,  but I will wait and see if it's good or not.

Honestly i wish i could have hope, but gotta remember an MMO usually runs on upwards of 100+ people, even if they have a large staff waiting waiting, i still doubt we will get much beyond occasional Cartel market/galactic seasons updates. But we will see.

Yup, I knew it. Been here since the beginning and I could tell by how the patches and updates that something was off.  But let's not get too worried because look at Guild War 2 when they move studio the game move from F Quality to B+ Quality. Same with Star Trek Online and many other games.  We will have to wait and see what the future holds.

GWS2 hardly gets updates, and STO doesn't have end game content beyond upgrade/pay for your ships upgrades to fight more mobs.

At this point, I will be happy if they can just keep doing new seasons. I'd love to have proper expansions, but if that's not possible, I want the game to continue so I can keep playing through the existing stories.

And yes, Please more galactic seasons, ❤️

I hope they at least give the story a proper ending, to some degree, i know MMO stories don't usually get a conclusion other than "that's all folks" but i would like a proper "and they ride off into the sunset" style ending.

So it's true, otherwise I suppose this would be a post denying it?

Broadsword seems to be working primarily as a studio that "maintains" games in a status quo, looking at their other titles and how they phrase their recruiting, I suppose this would mean the same for swtor.

    hello maintenance mode

God i hope not, seems like a sad way to leave the game with an unfinished story and held in a perpetual state of undeath,
