  1. How computer graphicing works is there is a large series of animations. For example, there are four animations played when you run. The first is the animation of just standing still (slight movement to make the character look live like). The second is a transition animation (a short {maybe 0.5 sec animation} ) where your character transitions from standing to running. The third is a looped animation of your character running. The forth is another transition animation from your character running, to standing still. Then it plays the standing still animation again. The computer has to load each animation when ever you trigger its command (that is why sometimes when you turn on your lightsaber while running, they will freeze while still moving, it is loading the running animation). In case of the speeders, it has to load the speeder file, the texture (coloring) of the speeder, then it has to load the pose of sitting on the speeder, then it has to load the animations of movement on the speeder. Vise versa. It is a large list of loading poses, animations, files, textures, and many other things, and sometimes the computer needs to take a second to load them all.
  2. My brother and I have had this same problem, we figured it was just an internet issue or something. At first, it worked fine (in gameplay and cutscenes), then it stopped taking pictures in cutscenes, then it stopped taking pictures at all. Now, we have to rapidly press the screenshot button to get a single snap, then we end up with a few random ones of the many we took. When ever I begin a new character, however, it seems to be fine. Nevertheless, a photographer would know you take many pictures just to get the one good one, this has kind of taught us that same thing.
  3. I've had people practically hurrass me to death on both tanking and healing. Tanks and healers are always the first two to be blamed for a fight gone wrong. DPS jumps in before tank, he complains that you didn't hold agro. Tank takes 3 groups of guys at once, complains you didn't heal. Just today, I was doing a FP where the tank and one of the DPSes died fighting a boss. The other DPS and I fought the guy for 5+ minutes while the DPS just layed there, not reviving. The Tank revived and came back and watched us. Then, the DPS that I killed the guy with complained that I "wasn't healing him." As if he could have survived a boss for 5 minutes by himself. I felt proud of myself. I would agree with all of those against forced spacebar. Life is short, but it shouldn't be so rushed that you threaten to leave just because somebody is watching the conversations. Learn patients, and get over yourself.
  4. First off, I only have all 5 Companions with my JK and JC. I've got 3 for Trooper, and everything else I have 2 or less. I think my favorites, not in any perticular order, would be Kira, T7, Tharan/Holiday, Doc, Jorgan, Vette, Nadia. Kira- I love her smart elic and "say it straight" additude. "Have you seen what the Sith are wearing? It's like every fashion designer in the galaxy joined the dark side." T7- Just a fun Companion to have around, I just get tired of his constantly being down "I failed" additude. Tharan/Holiday- I love their chemistry (no pun intended). Doc- I love talking about girls with him. Jorgan- Has a very good brotherly feel to him. Vette- I love her spunk. Nadia- She realy turns out to be a pretty awesome character.
  5. This thanks is being heard too seldomly. BW, know you do have some customers with gratitude. I love the new character slots. I made two new characters last night, and am waiting to make two more to decide what one of them will be, and the other, I'm optimistically waiting to be able to create a Tugruta. I also had a blast remaking my Legacy Family Tree. I no longer have to have my two main characters on one server with all their friends and enemies, and their children on another server. I'm happy, and I love my new characters already. Thank you, BioWare.
  6. A wise man once said, "You would be surprised to learn how little people think of you." Perhaps you hold on to your reputation, which is far smaller than you think, too much. Yes, I understand growing connections and aquiring affiliations, but they're just names. The whole world isn't going to be in awe that "Billy use to be a great lvl 50 player; now he's a lvl 15 noob." There will be very few people who even notice your name is gone, other than your friends, who would get your new name I'm sure. Not to mention, we are now in a broader enviroment. Even if you were known for being the best tank on your server before, that might be less that 10% of the people you are now playing with.
  7. Sometimes, I think this is the most ungreatful audience anyone could deserve. So you lost a few names? I lost one of my mains, but I don't care. I got four new character slots (which is just about the exact number I wanted). For my character that lost her name (Taia), I thought about different ways to spell it: Taiah, Taya, Tayah. Unfortunately, the last one was the one I liked least, but was the only one I could use. No big deal. My only regret is I didn't just add a last name: Taia Thusion (according to her story), for the legacy name is to the other main character (Metius Karnok). Get over your pride about losing a combination of characters, your toons themselves are still the same! For programming reasons, it is a NESSESSITY that two people cannot be named the same thing, and you don't need to know anything about computers to know that. Why then would you complain that you had to change your name because somebody else had the name first on the new server?
  8. To the staff: Nice work; I have a weak Grafic Card, so I run the game without shadows and on the lowest graphic settings possible. Those look pretty good, not that I ever noticed them needing fixed. To the players: Most of the comments I read could be summorized, "it's about time." Come on, it's just shadows. Be greatful such a small thing is fixed and enjoy the game rather than complaining how long it took. Side note: Do LIGHT sabers cast shadows?
  9. There have been a good few people I've come across thinking, "I want you as a Companion." But it almost seems as though 5 is more than plenty, adding many more would be too many Companions. I also didn't recognize many names but the Jedi Knight ones. I agree Watcher One was a fun enemy, and my JK and he had a lot of respect for each other; it would be cool to have him as a Companion. When I encountered Leeha, I knew who my last Companion was, and I thought, "I want her as a companion!" Lord Praven (if it is who I'm thinking of) was another one I hoped to get. Master Setele Shan and Raven would have also been a couple of enteresting companions for sure.
  10. I could not agree more. For many years I played a game that you could buy remedies (or noss they called them) that jumped your stats by several points for about an hour (or until death). A few people would buy these and be really powerful and tough. Everybody would tag team that person to get rid of that premium super-buff. It tipped the balance of the game, but it wasn't major. Then, they added a refinement (so to speak) that you could apply to your gear. It was expensive, and had like a 5% chance of being successful (you could link 20 of them per item). They would greatly improve your armor/weapon value perminantly. Now that game is dead because nobody can uber their gear enough to stand a fair chance in pvp, except for those who are already uber and get bored because nobody will fight them. Perchased remedies and uber gear kills a game.
  11. Yeah, it really is true, almost all the species they sellected are just different colors of humans. First you've got three races of humans (Human, Cborg, Miraluka), then you've got Chiss, Mirialan, and Rattataki that look just like them. The Zabraks are cool, but just adding horns upon humans isn't that much more exciting. It really isn't that great of a verity. Probably, the reason they don't have some of these classes (such as Tugruta), is because you wouldn't be able to put helmets on them (just like Sgt. Rusk). I've not really trained a Twi'lek very far as to know what they do there, buy seriously, between helmet and cool alian heads, I would go no helmet any day.
  12. Another thing I thought of (that maybe you can actually do {but I doubt it}) would be: when you go into a Space Mission with a guest in your ship, they take up a turret and help you that way.
  13. OKay, so I did a little researce to find out the Tugrota is the race that I really want. As far as the Vibroshield thing, I think that would be awesome. Considering people can use a second blaster or a second lightsaber for an off hand, I don't see any reason why you can't just put an actual shield there. I, however, would totally support not just a Vibroshield, but also a lightsaber shield. That is something that I've wanted to see in Star Wars for a long time (and yes, long before I knew what WoW was too {so it's not me just saying I want the game to be more like WoW [and in all honesty, I never played WoW, and never will]}).
  14. Haha, <-female Consular. I do get the vibe that Consulars are almost more meant to be girls, and Knights are more meant to be guys. I don't know why, but Spell Casters generally seam more girly, and Melee Fighters seam more manly in most MMOs. I personally don't have a problem with this because I have always had female Spell Casters, and male Melee Fighters.
  15. I would totally agree; when I first saw the new animations I was like, "They ruined the best skill in the game!" Before, you lifted a giant rock above you head, and it was epic and dramatic. It ascended straight up beside you where it then rested displaying your awesomeness and power before being hurled into the enemy's face. Upon contact, the foe would be nearly given a sevear concusion for a moment from this 6.5ft diameter rock smacking their knoggin. Now, a punny little rock randomly pops out of the ground so far away you can barely see it, strikes the target in the ribs and dazes them with a head injury from a tiny pebble smacking their side. Please reset the animations!
  16. Ah, the character development of characters you decide everything about, yet still find suprises in your own character's progresion you didn't ever plan. You should be a writer, that stuff is one of the funnest parts of it. Yeah, JK is a fun class, and I think it has a pretty great story line. It drags a bit, but at the end of every chapter it get's really good (I've just started Chapter 3 though).
  17. Ultimately, Sith aren't dedicated enough to raise a family. Although they relie on emotions to strengthen them, their main focus is the persuit of power. Part of that is killing everybody in your way, even if it is your spouse or children (think Greek/Roman mythology). Plus, sith have a large lust for blood. Spoiler: A certain companion mentions when they were dark side, they killed two siths by the age of eight. Dead people don't reproduce, and there are a lot more dead Sith and alive Jedi than vise versa, because Sith kill each other.
  18. I have few things I would like to see: 1. Companion Creator (create your own companion {name, race, sex, class, ect.[just like your own character]}) and/or 2. Co-Character Summon (summon another character from your Character Screne as your Companion) 3. Lightsaber Shields (definantly want this one; a shield for Jedi Guardians/Sith Jurgenaught as their Off-Hand weapon, that goes into you typical Sword and Shield fight style {could have basic Shield Generator stats, but able to apply Color Crystals to some}). 4. Haze Remover (in Grafic settings, the ability to remove Haze from the atmosphere {I've done computer graficing, haze is a female dog for speed and performance}). 5. Black Lightsaber Crystals (not the black center, a black blade with regular white center {sense I was a kid I always said my character would have a black lightsaber}). (brown would also be enterresting). From my Computer Programming knowledge, I don't really think any of those would be difficult, but I do understand it would take some work. Nevertheless, I think they would make the game even more enjoyable.
  19. Certainly more Character Slots would be nice, but it's not really nessessary. I have filled all but 2 Character Slots and those two I'm saving for two more characters which I already have some planning on how I want them. However, if they ever come out with new species (such as the Shack Ti species), then I deffinantly would want to make one of those too. I would say 2 more Character Slots would be appropriate, ten is a good number, and that allows you to make 1 of each class, and then 2 more of your favorite class, or 1 more of your favorite 2 classes. P.S. You can put all your Republic Characters on one server, and Imperial on another, in which case, you can also start out with a Imp. on your Rep. server (vise versa) until you complete Chapter 1, then switch them to another server to start the other faction.
  20. I would agree that it does seem illogical, unfitting, and off, but this game does already have more than 4 times the use of ranged mobs of any MMO I've played in the past. And part of MMOs is tank going in, pulling mobs all together, and then have an AOE damage dealer kill them. This is really hard to do with mobs who have range (because you can't AOE without people in the AOE range). More animals (who don't use weapons at all) would be a good alternative, but I like how this game is more about fighting people than just fighting animals. Plus, melee using non-force wielders aren't all that common. Another thing to think of, however, is lasers (realistically) travel at the speed of light (which can go around the Earth 15+ times in a second). Even in the Star Wars movies, however, lasers travel far slower than bullets.
  21. "The Counsel has granted me permission to train you." -Obi Wan, episode 1 "We made it, guess I was wronge, there was no danger at all." -Captian Ti4(?), Episode 2 "You're swetting, just relax, take a deep breath." -Obi Want, Episde 2 "Nice shot kid, that was one in a million" -Han Solo, episode 4 "No reward is worth this." -Han Solo, Episode 4 "The boy has no patience." -Yoda, Episode 5
  22. It is actually really easy, rather you're an Artifice or a Sythweaver, you need Archeology. When you go to create an item, look at the ingrediance, hover over it and it will say what it is: Grade 1 Power Crystal, Grade 2 Color Crystal, Grade 3 Fragrant Artifact, ECT.. Go into Archeology, and send a Companion to pick up what you need. Select a level range (there are six options, one for each grade), then select a mission that loots what you need (Power Crystal, Color Crystal, whatever) Also, they are set up to be around the same level range, so go to a planet with that same level range to find the stuff to gather manually (without having to send Companions). P.S. Sometimes you will need other supplies not found in Archeology; Sythweaver sometimes needs Underworld Fabrics, which can be obtainable from Underworld Trading, Artifice sometimes needs Gemstones, which can be obtained from Treasure Hunting.
  23. Is the Tugrota the Shack Ti race? (not really a real big Star Wars nerd in all honesty). That is a race I would absolutely love to create a character of.
  24. First off, Star Wars is a classic, and many great games have been made. Let's see if I can list all of them I've played: Rebel Strike -N64 (may not have been what it was called, but the one with the Bounty-Hunter named Dash) Rogue Squadern-N64 Pod-Racer -N64 Naboo Star Pilot -N64 (I don't think that's the right name, but whatever) Jedi Knight -PC The Phantom Menace -PC Force Power Battles -PS BattleFront -PS2 (both of them) And now Old Republic. I know I've missed some though.
  25. I would agree, but would even go as far as to make Lightsaber Shields that are always visible, even when you're not shielding (just so long as you have your saber on). Just as equiping a second lightsaber to a Sent., the lightsaber shield could change the Guardian's stance to your typical Sword and Shield stance.
