  1. Jedi Sentinel Watchman perspective:

I never figured out the puzzle...got too annoying so I said screw it and went to take on the Emperor. I had geared T7 along the way with commendation droid pieces and slapped in better mods every 5-10 levels. It was decent gear and he lasted about 2 waves of clones.

By the time T7 died, the Emperor was at 50% health and I was at full, so I decided to try the pillar thing, although it didn't seem necessary. I interrupted everything he threw at me just about and kept dots rolling + zen for heals, constantly keeping them going. I hit Pacify once or twice during the fight and never had to use any other cds. Didn't LoS with the pillars either after seeing them...not be very useful for me.

Before I knew it, he had no health left and I was sitting at around 85% health...kind of stunned how he had died without much trouble. I had dreaded fighting him from all the reading I did on the forums about the quest. Did this about a month ago btw.

Either way, if anyone's struggling on this quest, try Watchman if you haven't. The heals help A LOT.

  2. That's about all you get after finishing the last part of the story then moving on to Ilum for the dailies and stuff. Although...

I've been getting mail from Kira a lot talking about pictures she found of me and her back when we first met on Coruscant. There was another talking about Satele having a kid in secret and a few other things.

Idunno if it's just part of the conversations I've had with her or if it's like...endgame story in the form of mail for a romanced companion or something. I'm assuming I'll get mail from other companions for finishing their side quests too or something...haven't gotten any others at 10k affection yet.

  3. It's an okay build, but for PvE, some talents could be better spent elsewhere. This is the build I use:

    http://www.torhead.com/skill-calc#501bIbRrRMcGzZhG.1

2 points can go wherever you want. I put mine in focused leap for 1 extra focus on the leap.

Riposte isn't really worth using as Watchman unless you just wanna burn focus on it. I usually use it for Slash at best for that. You'll find yourself juggling so many abilities and generating so much focus and centering, it's ridiculous. So...I guess if you wanted, you could use Riposte. But I hardly if ever use it.

Also, keep in mind that Force Leap can be used as an interrupt and having it on a shorter cooldown and usable at point blank range = 3(or 4) more focus + a second interrupt on a fairly short cd.

I picked the accuracy talent because I hate missing key abilities like Cauterize and such.

  4. Is it me or does this place begin to drag on near the end? I mean I don't mind the whole stop the prison revolt thing and keep the planet stable bit...but...it's just...SO much stuff and even after stopping the top dogs it still feels like it drags on. That's how I feel about it anyways. I haven't had this feeling for any planet until now. :(

    Anyone else?

  5. My story songs in no particular order:

    Jedi Knight:

(Voice actor has nothing to do with my choice of song...although it is a neat coincidence).

    Bounty Hunter: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ob5N8j9dVCY

    Sith Warrior:

    Smuggler:

    Trooper:

(No, I did not make a female Trooper and name her Shepard, but ME1 & 2 SONGS FIT SO WELL)

    Imperial Agent:

    Sith Inquisitor: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_hYpGDZ5sNM

    Jedi Consular:

    (Can also work for Inquisitor)

Also, space battle music(seriously, try this):

  6. How do you know which player is derping along? What if you personally are doing great dps but 3 other people are doing horrible dps. You think you might be the one doing bad dps because the boss didn't die so you change things up and unknowingly are doing far worse?

    This.

Why people are so against dps meters and combat logs/parses I will never know. I personally want to know how I am doing, seeing everything laid out and showing what I was good at and what I wasn't good at. If I'm in a raid, taking up time from 7-15 other people, you bet I'll do my best to show I'm pulling my weight.

I don't care how other people are doing, so long as the dps is acceptable. If they are lagging behind, I want to know why. I want to know what they prioritize or what rotation they are using and how it could be improved. Guesstimating doesn't help anyone. It's not elitist to ask for combat logs to see what could be improved. There's *ALWAYS* room for improvement.

However, it's hard to tell when there are no logs to see exactly what things people did. You could have a dps Trooper spamming Grav Round until they are out of ammo and use Hammer Shot to wait for it to regen to full for all you know. But hey, the boss died after half a dozen wipes so it doesn't matter what the dps Trooper did, right? It's not like poor ammo management from that one trooper will cause a raid to end up taking longer to kill the boss(and/or add spawns) while said boss and possible add spawns do more damage, thus putting strain on healers to heal everyone, right?

Like it or not, with or without logs, there will always be a best rotation/dps/whatever. You can't avoid it. Yes, there's the whole play how you want thing, but that changes drastically when you take up other people's time.

  7. There are a lot of masks and helmets that overwrite hooded robes in this game. It's especially noticable on important NPCs.

What I mean in particular is stuff like this:

Throughout the whole video, Revan is sporting a hood. When he puts on his mask to start fighting you(which USED to have his hood work with the mask and felt INFINITELY more amazing), the hood disappears and you're left with...an odd image of Revan. Just about every image of Revan(beyond KotOR except in scenes when he sported the mask), he always sported a hood. The mystery of his character seemed to work better with them.

If you look in this video,

you'll see him sporting the mask and the hood at the same time.

Now you tell me, which feels more epic? I'd wager that you'd say the hood + the mask.

Oh, also, the Emperor in the Jedi Knight story does the same thing. He used to have a hood but...not anymore for some reason. Here's a video showing how he looked with the hood and helmet together:

    What's the deal? :(

  8. Which makes no sense at all. All of the movie Jedis fight with their hoods down. The amount of time you see a Jedi with his hood up is like a minute of Ben with a hood in Star Wars, and a minute of Luke in a hood in RoTJ and they take them down immediately.

Meanwhile, no Sith in any movie has the hood down, and the only Sith with a hood at all is the Emperor, who is the only character in all of Star Wars to keep his hood UP.

And yet, the Sith get hood down robes and the Jedi do not. Even though the cover of the game, the Creation screen, and 90 percent of the screen shots and videos show the hood down on the Jedi.

It's so obvious and so easy to fix I simply know BW will come through for us soon. But we have to keep our voices out there to make sure it happens.

In the quick skirmish between Qui-Gon Jinn and Darth Maul, Maul had his hood up the whole time.

Granted, he took the hooded robe off at the fight on Naboo...BUT STILL!

  9. I am probably missing something, please let me know if i am...but i only see one healing opportunity in the watchmen tree and it only spits out 2% of your max health....on top of that it only happens when you crit a burn on something. At level 36 it heals for about 150-200 every so often when cauterize is applied, which doesn't really do much. Again i may be missing one. Focus has the only other heal that i saw in the trees.

There are 2 more talents and 2 abilities to pay close attention to for the healing bit:

    Talents:

    Mind Sear

Slash has a [11/22/33]% chance and Merciless Slash has a [22/44/66]% chance to finish the cooldown of Cauterize. This effect cannot occur more than once every 6 seconds.

    Valor

Increases the Centering built by [1/2] when activating abilities that spend focus, and reduces the cooldown of Valorous Call by [15/30] seconds.

    Abilities:

    Valorous Call

    Instant

Let loose a valorous call, immediately building 30 stacks of Centering.

    Zen

    Instant

Requires and converts 30 stacks of Centering to enter a Zen state. Lasts for 6 charges. This effect varies based on your current lightsaber form:

Shii-Cho Form: Slash costs no focus and strikes 1 additional nearby enemy.

Juyo Form: Increases the critical chance of your burn attacks by 100% and causes burn damage to heal your party for 1% of max health each tick.

Ataru Form: Reduces the focus cost of Slash and Blade Rush by 1 and reduces their global cooldown by 0.5 seconds.

For Mind Sear + Valor, spamming Slash(and eventually Merciless Slash) after using Overload Saber and Cauterize = more Cauterize which in turn = more burns for healing. This in turn leads to LOTS of Centering built, which leads to Juyo Form's Zen. Valorous Call is also there to help instantly give 30 stacks.

Juggling all of that = A LOT more healing than you'd think. Add in Rebuke and other defensive CDs and you will become very durable.

Edit: adding talent calculator to show talents in full for extra centering from Combat post 40 some choices are personal preference(I like to interrupt so I chose Watchguard):

  10. I've yet to reach Alderaan(messing around with alts...probably a big mistake but I love 'em), but when I switched to Watchman, the bits of sustain I got from dot healing feels like a tremendous help. I also use Kira and am almost done with Nar Shaddaa, so I'm a few levels behind you but not too much I think. Either way, try Watchman out for yourself and see if it makes a difference. I'm quite enjoying it.
  11. Hit the Esc key before the dialog ends. Problem solved.

I agree though. I hate choosing a response based on some incredibly unclear blurb and then having my character say something that doesn't even match up to my choice.

This basically. It doesn't feel like it happens often for me, but it's a bit jarring when it does. If I don't like how a conversation is going, I hit ESC and try again ESPECIALLY if I fat finger a choice I didn't want. It slightly hurts immersion but I'll get over it. I usually become immersed again almost immediately after fixing my choices.

  12. Currently I am level 25 and respec'd from Combat to Watchman and I find the healing from the dots helps out a lot. I enjoy both but to me, it feels like Watchman is easier to manage. I never got the guaranteed crit from bladestorm and haven't gotten the higher Strike moves for Combat either but the healing from dots sounded too irresistable. What spec are you and how is leveling for you?
  13. Me neither in fact I have found alot of friends in PUGS and never really had a problem playing with others.

The problems comes when you have elitists ex wow type players thinking they know it all, and having disagreements on what is a "good" build and what is a "bad" build. Then they try to force that opinion onto others and tell them how they should play there character. Then they try to justify there epic arrogance with stats and damage meters they found from some random site....

    Wow culture in Swtor....no thanks.

But.....but.....you could be doing 9.99999999 damage instead of 9.99999998, you build sucks you fail wah wah wah .....

There will always be min/maxers for PvE content in any MMO. There will always be a best build(with freedom of choice for a few talents and such sometimes). Meters and logs are not tools of elitism and arrogance. They are tools to get the most efficient output in a group or raid environment, raids especially.

There are people out there who crunch numbers specifically for the best rotations or priority lists for abilities to maximize dps output. They are showing the best results through the extensive math that was done. If you go into a raid environment which takes not only your time, but 7-15 others' as well, then it becomes a problem if your damage isn't up to par with the others in the raid. If your damage is up to par, that's fine. But know that you can always improve, always. Having the best in everyone for a raid is always much better for the raid. The dps difference in getting the best possible rotation or ability priorities goes an incredibly long way.

  14. The amount of stims and medpacks you can make will save you a lot of credits from having to buy them off vendors. I find Biochem best for classes that can't outright heal themselves. I.E. Jedi Knights(both ACs, Sith Warriors(same as Knight), Gunslinger Smugglers, Imperial Agent Snipers, Powertech Bounty Hunters, Vanguard Troopers, Inquisitor Assassins and Shadow Consulars. I know some have heals through dots or procs but Biochem seems to be the most useful(to me) for the advanced class I mentioned.
