the best operative healers are like "game over man game over." Their teams just try to make sure nobody gets burst down and eventually they always win. They are too good at kiting to be focused and they are smart with defensives. they don't get globalled.
Just like there should be a few low skill classes/disciplines there should be a few high skill classes/disciplines. People in the middle tend to get mad about classes on either side of spectrum. You're in the middle bro...

That is exactly correct and the entirety of what I was saying and trying to share with people here, Thank you Trixxie, you were the only person to understand what this means and my intentions. Much obliged.
I am shocked how no one else literally knows what DPS is, how it measured and what it means. I would love to see people parse and share the results. Their DPS would be terrible.
Thank you again for taking the time to read what I said and understanding the sole intents as to why I was sharing this in the PVP section.
Disagree there is a lot of harm to people who don't understand math well or applying any sort of analytic when they start thinking they have a valuable "tool" when all they have is worthless drivel.
I'm guessing you don't have a lot of real world experience making numbers useful.

no.
I guarantee that a full 4 man top skilled granked team of ops only would beat any comp in this entire game (no ops allowed on the other team)
Balance should be decided based on a simple factor: 1) If the top player of any advanced class in all of swtor can 1v1 beat every single other top player of every advanced class, and 2) if 4 of that advanced class controlled by the best players in it can beat any other 4 advanced classes played by again the top of the skill level, the class needs a rebalance.
Believing that any class/advanced deserves to be better than all 17 other dps options goes against the very concept of a game providing 17 different dps specs. This kind of braindead reasoning is why fotm is a thing. Because you will only play a class that outperforms. You can't win on a regular normal class, you play only "viable" specs, cuz lets face it... this 13+ game is really hard mang
This troll bait was compelling enough for me to login. Why do you guarantee a full team of ops are so good? How do you guarantee it? Do you frequently guarantee stuff that are so obviously opposite to reality? What is your thought process for making guarantees without any evidence?
Basically, I'm not so interested in your position but how your mind works.

**** having even healers on each team. People are always "voting down" on MVP in group instead of voting for: 1 a healer if you are not a healer 2. The person with the highest guard if you are a healer.
Deserve to be stuck on teams without healers

Stat returns curves and the individual ability bonuses to critical and alacrity mainly.
From the first post:
DPS and HPS Calculation:
[DPS] = 1 / ( 0.7 / [Normal DPS] + 0.3 / [Execute DPS] )
[Normal DPS] = sum of all individual [Abilities DPS]
[Execute DPS] = sum of all individual [Abilities DPS] when sub 30%
[Ability DPS] =
( ( [Avg Mainhand Weapon Damage] x [1 + AmountModifierPercent] + [bonus Damage/Force/Tech/Heal] x [Coefficient] + [Avg StandardHealthPercent]*[base_DMG or Base_Heal] ) x [Accuracy %] + [Avg offhand Weapon Damage] x [1 + AmountModifierPercent] x [Offhand Accuracy] )
x ( 1 + [Ability Bonus Damage] + [Ability Active Damage] + [Debuff for F/T/M/R] + [Debuff for I/E])
x ( 1 + [Ability Damage Multipliers] )
x ( 1 + [Debuff for AOE] )
x ( 1 + [Execute Bonus Damage] )
x ( [# of Hits] )
x ( 1 + ( ( [Crit %] + [Ability Crit % bonus] ) + [Autocrit Proc Rate] / [Time Averaged Usage] ) x ( [Crit Bonus Damage] + [Ability Crit Damage Bonus] ) )
x ( 1 - 1 / ( 1 + ( ( 800 + 240 * [Level] ) / ( [Target Armor] x ( 1 - [Armor Debuff] ) x ( 1 - [Armor Penetration] ) ) ) ) )
x ( 1 + [Alacrity %] + [Average Alacrity % bonus] ) / [Time Averaged Usage]
Character Sheet Formulas can be found here: (Thanks Dipstik)

this is my equation
30 * ( 1 - ( 1 - ( 0.01 / 0.3 ) )^( (( 959+350)/ 65 ) / 1.25 ) ) - 30 * ( 1 - ( 1 - ( 0.01 / 0.3 ) )^( ( (411-350)/ 65) / 0.8 ) )*.6
the 350 part is what I modify and it basically always makes the equation go up
-
I am missing something please enlighten me
I am a sorc and I figure to balance alacrity it's
Alacrity(x) - CritRate(Stat Budget - x)*CritMult
but this number always gets bigger
what am I missing?
-
I can make it happen if you want for 18 million per slot or 105 million for all peices

thats a fancy item that. Not sure how available they are or what they sell for these days. THey keep getting rarer

What's the win/loss ratio for pvp in all levels and in unranked/ranked warzones? Do players favor republic or empire side more? Which faction has the most premades for pvp warzone purposes? Same for galactic starfighter?
A. Most of the players on this server win about 75% of their games. But a third of the players win only a quarter of their games.
B. THe pub side tends to have more horrible players organizing into 4 mans and queing to stop more disorganized/angry/emo imp players solo queing
C> Same for galactic starfighter? SAME FOR GALACTIC STARFIGHTER YOURSELF *****. I'mma keep that line and use it to end messages too
Same for galactic starfighter

problems with SM dps checks
. We're all decent players in 186-192/198 gear.
No you're not. You guys probably have a few average players and mostly really bad players. The first part of improving is recognizing the actual score. And the actual score is that your ops team has terrible dps players right now.
They can improve but the first part is for them to stop calling themselves decent. They are not even basically competent players currently.

fleet chat is mostly unusable and has been for several months now. 4+ spam messages per minute.
Is it like this on pub? every server?

You need to keep in mind that everyone has the Blood Mark debuff, which quadruples damage. If I remember correctly, at least one of his attacks is a 60k hit during enrage with that debuff, so even the best geared tank will not be able to survive this for a long time.
Since the Blood Mark debuff does not increase the damage of the Nightmare Pilgrim, he can easily be tanked during enrage, with only little healing required.
Well to be clear any of this is awfully easy 2 man at level 60 vs level 50s. Which is probably why nobody else wrote 1000 words on it.
I think maybe some 55 ops with shorthands are news worthy at this point
P.S. Is 60k not within the range of what a tank can handle now?
-
How much does thing from the stars do enraged to a level 60 tank anyway?
-
Cortanni, Bestia, Brontes, sword squadron 1's driver, storm callers driver, and kelsara . There are six female raid bosses and out of the twenty nine humanoids in the end game.
Brontes was the toughest boss in not 1 but 2 ops. If anything it sounds like powerful women are overrepresented. But then again jedi and lightsabers don't actually exist either.
-
It's a lot harder to think of various mechanics that punish ranged. Swtor has always hated melee but it's been traditionally balanced by melee doing more DPS.

Cool people and they have a handful of good players... But way more bad ones than a serious pvp guild should tolerate
It's hard to keep a straight face when watching WoI talk down to stim addicts.
do you guys honestly think either of you fit into the qualifier "really high quality"
or even "high quality"
or hell "quality" for that matter?
I'd say "bulk rate generic" PVP guilds would be the right category
like if I was making a PVP movie and I wanted faceless extras, I"d know where to find you guys for cheap and by the dozen
Yes, indeed. You guys would be well found in a thread entitled "Looking for a bulk rate generic republic pvp guild"
That said I'd recommend either of you guys to anybody looking for pub side pvp. I imagine you all have a lot of fun crushing pugs

What seems to be the most useful commando spec for pve groups ?
healer

I think biochem is more or less essential to casual raiding. Who wants to have to buy a thing for every 2 hours or an other thing for every 3 minutes or a horrible medpack for each pull?
If you are ok with buying a million dumb items every time you raid then you don't need to be biochem.
The resuable nade is the only other option and thats really only eak out another 50k or so dps from the raid in awkward situations that don't really exist anymore.
Anything else is a joke crafting skill and should be left to nerds trying to make credits on the GTN

So are
Jug tank, madness sin, carnage mara, op healer
and
jug tank, madness sin, madness sin, op healer
equal comps?
-
ahh thanks for the info
Right now we could field a jug tank, sin or sorc madness, operative healer and carnage mara pretty quickly. I imagine sorc dps is a lot worse than sin dps though since it doesn't have a taunt.
How would jug tank, 2 sin dps, and operative healer compare to the above comp? I figure we'd have a lot of taunting power
-
What are some of the best PVP ranked comps?
I would prefer recommendations for ones that are both easy and very good. However, if there is a comp that is difficult but the best that would be a good recommendation also.
