  1. If you want to game buy a pc.

I love the Apple products for what they are, but a gaming machine they are not so much. The cheaper price and wider selection of hardware available for a custom built machine is generally worth the effort.

Apple computers make great machines for mobility, task management and for high end general computing like auto cad or graphic design, but even those things can be done with the right rig on windows.

Definitely agree, if you have any choice at all, use a windows machine for gaming!

  2. I feared it, again.. Makes no sense why my Republic and Empire would get the same name, that only applies to Luke and Anakin/Vader with Skywalker, not some trooper and bounty hunter, lol. Nah, death to SWTOR(all servers are Light now, and were full first month). Gonna unsub and uninstall, sadly. It's just not good enough BioWare..

That's fine. Your unsub only negates one of the two subscriptions I brought in besides my own.

The locked servers are light, the populated servers are heavy ;)

  3. Looks like it's picking a little at random, and not the ones I doubleclick, lol. Good thing noticed. This is really fail by Bioware tho. Holy crap.. Having a fun time playing the ones that didn't need a rename. and we'll see what I do about it, if anything.

Yeah, I noticed about the Legacy. Question is now, since I managed to get Empire and Republic on the same server, they won't share Legacy right? That makes no sense if they did, but I'm afraid that if I choose a Legacy name for my Republic, that my Siths get the name too.. Abit paranoid, I know. But one never knows with these bandits, lol..

Edit: Seems like I must rename ALL characters from top to bottom to be able to play the bottom one, sucks once again. Not letting me choose which one I want to rename and play.. Think this was the last drop tbh..

Legacy is server wide. Always has been.

  4. The real problem here is that the majority wants a populated server experience.

The few prefer a solo gaming experience, but obviously Bioware will create a populated server experience first and foremost to please the large majority.

I think that patience will be a virtue here. I imagine Bioware will keep tweaking population until things are more stable and pleasing.

Population issues were a problem in WoW until they merged instance and battleground across servers... if at some point Bioware decides to do that, I imagine they'll allow the servers to spread out some. They'll probably also reduce the player-per-instance limit to solve the complaint quite a few people have: too many people in one zone.

  5. I think there's a difference between a "hater" and someone with a valid complaint.

Haters are the ones that can't tell the difference between valid and invalid complaints, cry about customer service trying to help them, suggest that customer service is trying to 'sabotage' them by giving them troubleshooting steps, and complain about Bioware as if by some property of magic they are sinister wizards in their tower conducting plots to ruin them ( the haters. )

Valid complaints come from people who see something, think it should be different and create a thought out, valid complaint, listen to suggestions and modify their own suggestions and complaint to suit.

Bioware should ignore the haters and listen to the valids.

  6. I just started playing recently and have been enjoying healing as a sage. I'm looking for some suggestions on customizing my UI. The default settings for group members are terrible for healers. I don't want to see a picture of their avatar, I want to see health bars!

I saw the option to use operation frames for groups. This helped a lot. It got rid of the avatars and gave me sliders to adjust the health bar size. The only problem is now I can't see the buff and status affect icons. They are there but they're tiny. Is there anyway to make them bigger? If not what UI do others use? If other experienced healers could give me some ideas I would appreciate it.

If you go to UI customization mode you can independently adjust the size of UI elements... that might help. Make your operation frame larger to compensate for the small buffs. I'm not totally sure it will make them bigger, but it's worth trying.

  7. I hate to break this to you, but you may have jumped from one sinking ship to another. SWTOR has had serious issues in the last month, lots of people left in disgust cos they couldn't even get a patch.

Hopefully that is ironed out and all is good.

Its is a fun game to play, when you can play.

I'll be the one to note that this poster is posting conjecture. I'm certain you've been to the WoW forums, OP, and seen this sort of thing before. Don't take this post to heart.

The trooper -> commando is the closest thing to a Paladin you'll find in this game. If you go to SWTOR and select the Holonet and then classes it will give you a basic rundown of the classes available, which can help you decide. Happy trails!

  8. I don't think so. I think it's the total amount of exp you need to go from your current level to your next level. To explain it better: if you look at your exp its says something like this 1000/2000. In this case maximum rested exp you can get is 2000. Even if your at 1999/2000 the maximum rested exp is 2000.

The information I found wasn't particularly clear, so I'm very willing to agree that this is the case. So the answer is 1 full bar is maximum.

  9. Is there a limitation at resting status, or you can rest and get double exp till foreveR?

It sounds as though it's the experience you have remaining to level up is the cap.

  10. Has anyone considered that these MMOs aren't supposed to cater to millions, tens of millions or hundreds of millions of subscribers?

When games built up to the eventual MMO hayday that was World of Warcraft it should have been expected that all sorts of niche MMOs would pop up.

Each MMO is there to cater to those who like that niche. It doesn't have to map to your precise expectations of success.

In summary: There can be more than 1 MMO. There can be several, each offering different things. SWTOR is fine, even with subscription losses.

  11. Sadly this has been going on since MMO's began. I started playing SWG at launch and played WOW at launch as well as a couple other games and still to this day when ppl leave WOW they STILL post about it. Fact is nobody cares if they leave or why they leave, but those who do feel the need for the attention from people.

I can't tell you how many times I've read on the WoW forums that it was dying, right from vanilla. Some games do die, but for someone to be so arrogant to think they know when a game is dying... it's funny... strange and funny.

  12. I'm just resubscribing [Quit my level 50 Sage like a week prior to 1.2 patch update] and would like to remain neutral in my decisions. The question is have Social Vendors, through patch updates, offer neutral gear? If not, then I suppose siding light or dark is more beneficial?

I remember seeing a thread on this a while back, the consensus seemed to be that neutral won't hurt you, but you'll be losing out on some darkside/lightside items. I think that's about all you lose, and it's not enough to hurt you in the long run or at end game.

  13. well i imagine it does serve some purpose, if alot of ppl are leaving for the same reasons then that tells BW what needs to change.

i was and still am considering canceling my sub for some of the above reason and others i wont go into cause that dead horse has been beaten mercilessly and resub to CoH i still have fun in that game with the F2P model but i want the rest of the stuff i dont have access to haha.

I agree with this. The OP didn't post a flame post, just a list of things he doesn't like about SWTOR. Seems legit to me. He's speaking with his money, and that's precisely what needs to happen. If things are driving people away from SWTOR, then just as GooseGrims said it's a good way to get Bioware's attention to the things that matter to the players.

  14. This has been unfair from the start. But after 8 months of BS I think I am finally getting to where I have had enough.

It is one thing to let WH geared randoms beat down noobs; it is another to let premade vet WH beat down random noobs.

Unfreaking believable. Im not sure if I am going to renew... because there is no change on the horizon.

Couldn't you just make your own premade... ?

  15. oh i plan on doing all that [and if i need to bring in someone/lots o people i will] but for right now [next couple of days] it is "feature suggestions" while that is going on i am going to finish up the actual code behind and deal with plugin functions. Then i can start working on the actual "suggestions" :)

    finish him!

  16. Lol you guys are scarring him with talking about power supply's, i know because they scared the heck out of me too when i was new to hardware.

Im going to look into the power differences and see if they are large.

Having a poor power supply will cause the card to underperform, and can also fry parts. I learned this the hard way when I lost a brand new X1900 back in the day to an underrated power supply.

The entire computer is based on electrical processing. Don't skimp on the electrical.

  17. I found the Shadow worked quite well for me once I got my healer companion. You can stealth through to objectives or tank tougher mobs while your healer heals you. You can also snare kite, since your force abilities have a small range.

The sage seemed good with a tanking companion, too.

    Good luck :)

  18. This. People like that go to the newest game, complaining to the second newest how it sucks compared to the newest. And when a new big game comes out they do the same thing.

Pretty much, GW2 coming out will hopefully rid SWTOR of such people (course I'll be playing both and will have to deal with it in GW2, but less of a pain.)

That really does get me. Do these people not remember? Do they not know what they're doing? Are they different people each time that just don't see the past because they refuse to acknowledge it?

I play MMOs this way: I try it, and if I don't like it, I don't play it. SWTOR was the first one in a while that got me hooked. Keep in mind I never played KOTOR or SWG so I didn't get to taste the best of the Starwars universe and thus have nothing to compare it to. It created a situation for me where I could log into SWTOR and enjoy it thoroughly. I've hooked a few others onto the game now, too.

I don't really see how an MMO is so important to some people to hang around ************ about it. Just play something else until the thing you don't like is either fixed or becomes inconsequential.

  19. A few months ago I re-rolled from the Begeren Colonly to The Harbinger. I left behind multiple 50s and now have a couple of 50s on The Harbinger.

I noticed that The Harbinger is showing "Heavy" and Begeren Colony is at "Very Heavy". There are 2 fleet instances of 200+ people on The Harbinger and only one fleet instance of 110+ players (imp/rep) on Begeren Colony.

It seems the server status is different for servers because there is no way Begeren Colony is more populous than The Harbinger.

    Has anyone else noticed this?

Maybe The Begeren Colony really let himself go.
