  1. You only need 20 in synthweaving to make an a shell for top/bottom and 100 to make a helmet. It might take time (based on your luck) to get these patterns from UW Trading or the auction house. Of course if you want certain looks you would need higher skills based on the patterns you are trying to make. Best gear? Yes b/c of the augment slot. Make synthweaving lucrative? Well you only need 20 in the skill to make the top / bottom shell ... Can easily be done on an alt (even getting to 100 is nothing in terms of time/cost if you aren't trying to RE stuff.) Of course sooner or later most will do this since its very easy, so how does it make it lucrative? Other than this what does synthweaving really have to offer? I would like an answer to that question if there is one or anyone knows. They should have made it so max synthweavers or higher level ones crit the orange for augs then it may have been worth investing time into (ducks for cover)
  2. I've been asking myself the same question (and started a thread about it a little bit earlier.) It seems like nothing more than a money sink. The only sales I make are the orange shells for Jedi Initiate Vestments and Lower robe which are low level patterns and if I had been smarter I would have saved the patterns for an alt and just had an alt craft them. The time and money involved with RE to anything decent, even for leveling is too large IMHO. Yesterday I RE'ed 34 pairs of bracers (not cheap to make considering the cost of the UW Trading missions to get the cloth) to try to get them to a purple level. When it finally hit I got an item with presence on it, which lets face it, no one is going to buy, especially at a price where I would somehow make any money back on what I invested in all the RE to start with. As for the end game I am not there yet, but one thing that I've been reading or had replies to on my own post is that prior to the patch you could sell the epic gear if it crit b/c of the augment slot. Now you can just get a cheap orange shell that crit to do the same thing. Yup the same orange shell that you can make on a char with <100 synthweaving does the same exact thing pretty much. So do you want to spend credits on the auction house for some crafted items to level with or do you just want to spend commendations to get some mods which costs you nothing? Even if I sold items at a loss (a loss to make back the cost of RE, or getting a purple fabric, or hell even getting the blue fabrics from UW Trading) you can still get comparable gear for practically free with commendations. You'll also spend more time and money while leveling to try to get an RE, even if its for yourself to use, than if you had spent the time leveling and taken a green quest reward x amount of levels later with that time which would be better. The trick is the belt and bracer slots. I picked up a belt for 600 credits on the AH (someone prob didn't know what they had when they sold it) and now you can buy bracers from the legacy vendor for 100k. The only person here who loses out is the crafter who spent tons of time and money gambling to get a decent RE. That's how I am seeing it now. I am only on my first character in the game and I haven't gotten to the end game yet, so perhaps I'm totally wrong but I haven't read or been told anything differently. This has been my experience with crafting in this game. I wish I could get all those credits back I wasted on trying to RE stuff.
  3. I think im missing something. It seems like crafting really doesn't have much of a point except to waste credits. Thanks for the info, not what I was really asking in the original post, but helpful none the less. So for a new player, without alts, which is a good thing to level up with? Seems like from what I'm reading here, and in other posts, none of the crafting is really a viable end game (except bio chem) or a real money maker. I don't know if they were planning on having crafting augments be the new thing for a synth weaver to do, but then you have to buy patterns (unless you're a slicer which doesn't synergize as well as arch/uw trading), then go back through the same re stuff and its just one slots worth of mods, vs the cyber which is two slots?
  4. So should I just stick with synthweaving to get the rakata and then think about dropping? Also where / when does the synthweaving crafted epics outdo modded gear?
  5. Which orange gear can you buy with aug slots? I thought it had to be a crit craft.
  6. Just looking for some input (moreso about how things go in mid to late game.) Which is the better choice if I do not have alts and I'm not really looking to min max for end game raiding. To me it seems like its easier and more effecient to get a few pieces of orange gear and just craft up to date mods for it as I level. What really is the purpose of synth (I understand the augment slot on orange crit) but other than that I have to sit and spend hours and tons of credits, even at a lower level to hope to RE something thats not really close to what I can do with mods from planet commendations. I keep reading and hearing well you can make purple gear better than modable gear. When is this exactly? All the lvl 50's I see use modable gear, I dont really see anyone using any sort of crafted armor at that level. And I thought the RE chance was going to go up with the patch? I RE'ed 34 pairs of blue bracers to finally get a purple that has presence on it while = level modable bracers with just planetary commendations would have over 10 more willpower. .... I dont really seem to RE any better than I did before and it just seems like a giant waste of money. Which is really the better way to go? When does the purple synth gear that you spend hours of RE's trying to get and tons of credits really get better than a modable piece? Again, I'm not worried about min maxing (and for arguments sake I already did a crit augment slot orange robe and lower robe.) Wondering now before I get too far into it or have to waste any more credits on it. Is it better to cyber my own mods and use modable gear or go through the RE of synthweaving? Should you still just use it to 400, make your 2 pieces of rakata and drop it? (And if that is the case how much RE should you bother doing if your just going to take it to 400 and maybe make the odd piece for leveling?)
  7. Is there any way possible to get him to spawn when solo'ing? When you get sprint (and Force Speed) can you move across the room fast enough to hit the second console before it resets?
  8. Normally the code is emailed to your origin account address and then you manually add it through 'My Account' on here. At either rate even if that was different for now it didn't add on here
  9. Has anyone had trouble with purchasing a digital time card from the Origin store? I thought I would purchase one through their store to save time from running to a local Gamestop. Instead I have a charge on my credit card hours ago and have not received a code. I went on to the customer support chat to find out what was going on. The person explained to me my order was under review and it would take another 5 or 6 hours to process (after having already sat there for hours.) I asked about the review because this has never happened before on any Origin purchase I have made and also asked about how/why my card was charged but they will not give me the code it was charged for. At first the person said it could be fraud (really?) or then he said sometimes people are 'randomly selected for reviews.' So they randomly select people to have their card charged and then wait hours and then another 5-6 hour period for a review? Of course there is no one I can speak to about this since they don't have a phone number and lets just say that the people who you can communicate with over their support chat someones have issues with a language barrier. Bottom line is that I won't be giving them any more business and just going to the local store. Has this happened to anyone else??
