The channel RP exists on the republic side aswell. Although it isn't as heavy populated as the one on the Empire side, there's still RP discussions going on in there.

Koran, Jedi Sentinel saying hi. Not sure if this will be my main or not, currently leveling one Trooper (Carson) Smuggler (Lethro) and Consular (Jerec) I'm sure i'll be harassing the open world pvp areas though!

I recently read Revan, and are now plowing through Decieved. (Just read about the sacking of Corruscant) SWTOR takes place in 3643 BBY You can find the plot summaries on wookieepedia.

The code you got from Origin when you pre-ordered is the Pre access code. You can use that to play until the 20th, then you'll have to register the "real" code which we get in our mail in a few days.
