  1. I don't really have a guild, so I pug. I pretty much only heal. All tacticals are no problem with any combo of group. All HM fps are no problem except Rishi, DoM, Tython, Korr, BH. I have tried pugging these and the groups just aren't good enough. Maybe I'm part of the problem too. But my complaint is... why are all the other HM fps doable with pug groups but those five? They are my nemesis of HM flashpoints.

You can say I haven't found the right group, but I'm done looking for them. I don't have the time or will anymore to bother. After DvL I started cancelling out of those flashpoints when they popped but realized that's not fair to others, so now I stopped all HMs.

I don't know the answer but I don't understand why they can't be adjusted to be like the other HMs or placed in another group. :)

You just need to find a good tank, add them to friend and group up with them, that's it.

  2. Perhaps now's a good time to remind that SWtoR is not F2P. It turned into a hybrid model in 2012, but never into complete F2P.

You're WRONG. The game is marketed as F2P by BW. What I'm saying is stop marketing it as such and clearly state that it's a trial, simple.

  3. I'm aware. I was here in closed beta and at launch. In closed beta BioWare was dealing with a much smaller sample size of the actual player base. Ilum World PvP worked just fine with limited numbers. When the floodgates opened and everybody hit level 50 and was on Ilum, it was clear open world PvP would not be possible on the engine. It was a slideshow, and while I loved Ilum World PvP for what it attempted to do, it was not a quality experience.

The problem isn't even HeroEngine itself. The real issue is that BioWare licensed an incomplete HeroEngine that was unstable and tried to have their engineers finish it for the purpose of the game. That was a horrible idea. BioWare should have not gone the cheap and fast route trying to build a game with a third party engine. BioWare should have just built their own in-house engine and made sure it could actually handle the "massively multiplayer" aspect of an MMO.

People wonder why SWTOR isn't really an MMO? It's because the engine literally cannot handle experiences above 16 players without the gameplay becoming a slideshow.

    Yeah, this.

This is the best recap of the game and it affects everything regarding group content:

  4.

On a sidenote; I'd really really love to see how much you'd still like your precious RNG if it got attached to your monthly paychecks. Seeing how you apearantly are under the delusion that it is so enjoyable.

Great idea! Do this, so you can finally enjoy grinding with us.

  5. Except there is no OWPvP in this game. There hasn't been any since Ilum was removed. All that you see now are the occasional skirmishes of emergent gameplay or folks grinding for the "Scare Bear" title on Oricon.

I'm actually of the opinion there needs to be a progression for gear in PvP. This isn't an FPS where skill is all that matters. This is an MMORPG, and gear is taken into account of the PvP experience. Will it be a bummer if you have inferior gear? Yes. However, everybody knows skill ultimately trumps gear every time in PvP anyway. Gear won't do you any good if you don't know how to play objectives.

They don't because the engine doesn't support it. It's not a community problem, it's a BW problem. If they engine was actually fine for an MMO there would be a lot of OWPvp, but they picked the worst engine they could and now they're stuck with it unfortunately.

  6. Devs, can you tell me how you will fix the game after the majority of the players will leave because of the crap you are releasing in 5.0? Polish a turd it is still a turd. I have some idea's but when was the last time you actually listened to the player base community? RNG Loot crates for end game really? There was a reason the ORIGINAL DEVELOPER TEAM reverted to the current gearing system up through 4.0 that you left in place 3.0 and 4.0 is because RNG CRATES DIDN'T WORK!!!! Here is how to fix it.. Go back to 2.0 gearing system, not hard at all. Let players control the RNG not the game. I don't want to sit and waste 5 freaking belts that I have no use for in back to back crates or have a 1/84 chance for an implant I need. Or give us tokens through crates that we can choose the set bonus piece we need by a vendor. I am puzzled that the COMMUNITY OF PLAYERS IS EATING YOU DEV'S ALIVE ON THIS RNG SCALE and we hear nothing about it. It is like you guys are running a skeleton crew for this game. It is really a shame to see this game decline since 3.0. You can't say the community player base is high. I bet it is less than 3 million players. A few casuals and new players may enjoy the RNG system till they realize ... why do I have 3 of the same chest piece or 3 of the same belt or 3 of the same other piece, I think you catch my drift. And in this stream, I didn't get to watch it, but from friends that did watch YOU DEVS DID NOT TOUCH AT ALL IF ANY ON HOW TO FIND A RESOLUTION IN THIS CONUNDRUM THAT YOU DEVS HAVE STARTED. Well I put 2 ways to fix it as many others have also put idea's out, but with less than 45 days to go, I bet YOU DEVS WILL JUST LEAVE THE SYSTEM AS IS AND NOT DO A DAMN THING ABOUT IT. I would stake my entire guild credits that you won't change the gearing system and we are currently sitting close to 100 million.

Clearly there is no dev left that remember the battlemaster RNG disaster. Pretty sad looking at them making the same obvious mistakes over and over again: “The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, but expecting different results”

    Fits perfectly.

  7. While I agree wholeheartedly with the general disappointment of no new operations with KOTET launch, I disagree with the assessment of the situation.

Much like TEC came in after launch (and was delayed even further), and the new WZ and arena maps, I know I will get ripped for my optimism but we WILL get a new operation in 2017 during the KOTET cycle.

And look at what we ARE getting with KOTET:

    • content difficulty slider
    • the ability to use multiple companions in group-esque content

BOTH of these are features that players have been crying for for years and we are finally getting them.

My point is that for a long time now there has been a significant lag time between what we the players want and when BW implements them. This goes as far back as original launch:

    • ...there were NO operations at launch, it was only months later that we got EV and KP.
    • also from launch players wanted character housing and off rails space combat. It took two years to implement both in the forms of GSH and GSF.
    • After Makeb and no class story we wanted more class story, we were given a small bone in SoR
    • We wanted roleless FPs, we got tacticals
    • we wanted solo FPs we got them
    • we wanted options for story completion (think Oricon [ops requirement] vs SoR [solo or operation choice])
    • we wanted old ops to be relevant, we got it.

The list goes on. Throughout the five years this game has been around, BW HAS in fact listened to what we want and given it to us. The problem has been and continues to be the timing of fulfillment. The quote in my signature is very apt. "We" want something, BW takes the time to implement it, but by the time they do "we" have moved on to wanting something else. It is IMPOSSIBLE for a company to turn on a dime with every whim of their customers

    What?

EV was at launch, same with "some" KP.

[*]also from launch players wanted character housing and off rails space combat. It took two years to implement both in the forms of GSH and GSF.

Both without any updates for years

[*]After Makeb and no class story we wanted more class story, we were given a small bone in SoR

that was really nice, agreed, still nothing in the latest xpac and this one

[*]We wanted roleless FPs, we got tacticals

    tacticals ruined lowbie fps imo

[*]we wanted solo FPs we got them

    i didn't

[*]we wanted options for story completion (think Oricon [ops requirement] vs SoR [solo or operation choice])

    sure

[*]we wanted old ops to be relevant, we got it.

yeah, let's do the same old content over and over and over and over! This is the biggest problem, they think that just by level buffing ops it'll count as new content which is asinine.

No new ops for years is a disgrace. RNG crates are a disgrace too. *** are you doing BW?

  8. Admittedly this does not solve the issue of RNG; however, it sure beats the old system where set bonuses were tied to the actual armor piece. If you have multiple mercs or merc commando combinations you can use the second belt. chest, etc to gear that toon.

Hasnt been that way since 1.x or 2.x don't remember... But a VERY long time

  9. I just confirmed with the team that you can move armorings as you can the other mods. It works like it does in KOTFE in that they can be moved between similar pieces of gear.

    -eric

    wow.

"Nope, you can't move it to other slots. No changes from how it works now." FTFY

That phrasing was totally misleanding and of course as always you missed the whole point.

Either let us move armorings (and set bonus) between pieces or remove the RNG.

    Disgusting.

  10. It was genuinely very thoughtful of you to provide start times for the different US timezones.

However I presume you are aware than you have many UK + European subs that have also paid a lot of money to play this game over the years?

Virtually all the cantinas, events and most of the promotions (often exclusive to US subs) are US based so I thought I would check that BW still remember about the non US players.

They never cared, for 5 years we begged them to do EU maintenace at a more decent time.

  11. If I don't sub to play WoW, I don't get to play at all. Is WoW PTW? Is FFXIV PTW? They require subs to get gear.

PTW would mean i could go to the CM and purchase the best in game gear with my credit card. I understand people are upset (I'm still not sure why), but there is no need to twist terminologies around to suit your argument.

They're not marketed as a F2P. It's clear that you need to sub. SWTOR is marketed as F2P which is now FALSE with these changes. Totally misleading customers.
