From the information posted a few days ago, we learned that tank gear will now come in defense/shield and defense/absorb flavor instead of the defense/shield and absorb/shield flavors we currently have. As many of us know, defense is not very useful in PvP since it only works against weapon/white-damage attacks. With so many tech/force attacks flying around, the prefered gearing choice for PvP tanks is shield/absorb, which won't be possible in 4.0
The question is, do the devs really intend PvP tanks to be mostly defenseless against Sorcs, PTs, Mercs, Ops and others? tech/force attacks can't be defended/dodged against, so this will create an unhealthy imbalance.
My suggestion? make defense work against tech/force attacks. For example, if I have a 20% chance to deflect weapon damage attacks such as Master Strike (or "Blade Dance"), Ravage, High Impact Bolt and Rail Shot, I should also have a 20% chance to resist yellow damage attacks such as Tracer Missile, Energy Burst and the entire damage done by Sorcs and Concealment Ops
