  1. I'm genuinely finding it hard to find a reason to log in right now.

I know what you mean. I've logged in once in the last 30 days. I can't get motivated to play. For me, at this point, unless something drastically changes...this is probably how I'll play the game, if that.

  2.

Just started playing the game again about a month or so ago after not playing since around launch and i'm finding that there is a lot of FPS drops and stutters in random areas. I am just doing the base class storylines right now so it could just be those areas. I have PvPd recently and I didn't notice too much of the stutter but it could of been because I was focused on playing. Only thing i've been able to find on Google is that the game doesn't work well with new CPUs. I have a I9-10850K and a RTX 2060. One of the things I read was in an old forum post about how the game is very heavy on the first core of your CPU and turning off hyper threading was suppose to help. I disabled hyper threading for the game and restarted it. Noticed a little increase in FPS and the stutter didn't happen too much. But after about 10 minutes of playing it came back and stayed that way. It's not a deal breaker by any means and i'll continue playing the game but if there is a way to decrease the stutter at least that would be awesome.

Try this to see if it works for you:

If you have VSync on, turn it off. Turn down or off Shadows and Shadow Shading. I had a RTX 2060 and this took care of the issue. I'm using an Asus ROG Strix RTX 3060 and its no longer an issue.

  3. Does any one knows if it is possible to play SWTOR via GeForce Now?

As SWTOR is now on Steam I thought it is possible but I don't manage to launch the game

    Thanks

Not like you can via Steam. However, you can launch the game via GeForce Experience and play it. I have to do that with FFXIV. The normal launcher fails giving me a 6D failure every time. With GeForce Experience, I hit play and the launcher works. This still boggles my mind.

  4. Hopefully this post sheds a bit of light on some of the issues and resolutions with Level Sync in the game. We’re still very excited about the content possibilities unlocked by modernizing this huge and fundamental system of the game.

    Thanks!

    -Chris

Thank you for coming forward about this issue sharing the problems and upcoming fixes. Especially for our companions. Thank you again.

  5. They removed it from the known issues list because they fixed the root cause in 7.0.1, but the thread where they acknowledged it and mentioned adding it the known issues is still pinned in the bug reports section. For some reason, they didn't pin the thread BRKMSN linked to above that advised affected players on what they should do to get their characters fixed now that 7.0.1 is live, so that got buried under the bustle of the bug reports section pretty much immediately, but what can you do I guess.

Correct. My former Immortal Jugg now Darkness Assassin is now a Immortal Jugg (primary) again, and Darkness Assassin (Secondary). I am shocked that they actually fixed it. However, I'm still apprehensive in using it again.

  6. You are delusional if you think they will roll back the servers and everyone's progress by an entire month. Even from day 1 of the launch.

I would be absolutely livid if I lost all that progress.

Delusional? I am not. Practical and see the results of changes on a 14 year old Alpha version engine bastardized to the point it requires top notch coders to work on it. And should the game end up failing because the engine cannot support the changes or see bugs repaired because the capabilities of this engine cannot handle these core changes they've made? What then?

I'm not saying that is going to happen; however it is possibility. You can only use something for so long before it gives out or can no longer support changes. Did it occur to you that they might be able to save the data for all characters and work out how to use that to for the roll back?

But to continue this course they're on, it will be next year before they fix the bugs plaguing this game if, in fact, they even try. Can you live with dying to Malgus time and time again? Or having your new level 80 character get locked out of their main combat style into one that you wanted to use on occasion? Which do you prefer? Stay the course or roll back to when the game wasn't in a broken state as it is now.

  7. How about no? I want new content.

If you want a game that has no more updates go to Secret World Legends or play a regular RPG.

But seeing old bugs being fixed would be nice...

Pricia, do you not understand that the engine was obtain while it was still in Alpha testing...14 years ago? They bought it as is, uncompleted and not fully operational. They have made so many modifications to it when coding the original game they launched, it doesn't even look like a Hero engine. The engine is the issue. Every change they've made since the firing of the original coding crew is plagued with bugs.

They cannot go back to the original content and repair bugs because, more than likely, none of them are qualified to mess with that code. Anything they've done, especially with 5.0 up to including 7.0 has caused more bugs than ever imagined. And now, 7.0 made such drastic changes to the core coding it is nigh impossible to fix what they've broken without introducing more issues.

They must revert back to at least 6.XX to resolve most of the game breaking bugs they have now. Then, they can re-release the story, it's missions, and a few things mentioned above. However, any core changes made in 7.0 cannot be done. Why do you think have have a list of bugs longer than 7.0's update list?

The engine is a nightmare and this is the fault of the original crew. At this rate, we're not going to see any new content for a long while until they figure how and what they broke, find a method to resolve it, update it and pray they didn't introduce a new or old bug and then have to rinse and repeat the process.

Truly, it may be time to put this game into maintenance mode and let it go. This crew is incapable of fixing the entirety of introduced issues caused with the core mechanic changes they made to the SWTOR Hero/Villain engine. One day the engine is going to give up the ghost and fail completely because it's being forced to do things beyond its capabilities.

  8. Hey everyone,

We will be taking the servers offline on March 22, 2022 to deploy Game Update 7.0.1.

    Details:

    DATE: March 22, 2022

    TIME: 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM CT (1300 - 1700 UTC)

    VERSION: 7.0.1

Patch notes will be available on Monday, here.

Thank you for your patience as we maintain Star Wars™: The Old Republic™!

    To Whom It May Concern:

Even after "patching" to repair, you've caused more problems and still have address game breaking bugs. Your game, in truth, is all but broken. Shutdown 7.0. load back 6.XX and re-release the story and missions. Then take what you have back to whatever drawing board you're using and realize this godforsaken Alpha variant unfinished bastardized Hero Engine is beyond repair or usable for anything as drastic as what you have done with

7.0, Charles, Keith, Chris, and company, 7.0 is an abject failure. Admit it. Own it. Apologize for it. Revert back to 6.XX and start over studying the code even deeper to understand if this refuse of an engine can be updated without changing core coding that was originally used for game, character, and other mechanics so badly affected by 7.0.

If you don't, maybe E.A. will do all of us a favor and shut it down. Of all the MMOs I've played for the last 20 plus years, I've never seen such catastrophe as I am seeing now for SWTOR. Y'all have just about broken this game beyond any reasonable ability to repair. This is on you and no one else. Fix it or shut it down.

  9. Hi folks,

Patch notes are now available here: Game Update 7.0.1 - Patch notes.

Can someone, I don't care who, tell us what the status of fixing the freaking bug in Combat Styles that has us locked out of our primary style? Not a word since y'all finally acknowledge it is a bug. Your silence and lack of transparency is most telling. Either you care or you do not. Which is it? I know many of us affected by this "bug" are waiting for an update on the status. Please provide that ASAP. Thank you.

  10. I mean… to be fair, you can’t say you want to gear up 21 characters and you’re a casual player. I think that definitely falls into more of a hardcore category doesn’t it?

I’ve been playing solo/casual and have been doing just fine in my 320 gear. 1 toon has like 3 pieces of 322 and 1 legendary but I still feel like I wreck solo stuff in just 320 gear.

I was going to do so; however, I'm not even going to attempt to do more than 9 in total. It's not worth the effort. This new system has, in my personal opinion, killed alt play. I deleted 16 characters before 7.0 launched. I had a feeling it was going to cause major issues with playing, especially when 6.0 allowed us too do so and 7.0 limits us in every possible way. So, I spend most if not all of my time playing and streaming FFXIV. There I'm having a blast. Here playing SWTOR...I'm wasting time.

I've lost my motivation to play more than one character at all now. I quit doing conquest for my two personal guilds and now only participate in a friend's guild with 3 toons. That's it. Keith, Chris, and the rest are nothing more than reskinned than Ben Irving and Bruce Maclean and everyone knows how that turned out for the game. I see the parallel between Update 5.0 and 7.0. Oh yeah, Charles Boyd has been with the company a long time and has a lot of culpability in what we're seeing too.

  11. I highly recommend contacting CS through email rather than through the ticket system. Tickets get closed as soon as they reply. Sometimes we need to be able to respond to each other's replies in order to work out the problem.

Actually, there is no need to contact Customer Service through email or in-game. This issue was finally acknowledged and put in the list of known issues. There is nothing anyone can do until such time the developers look at the problem, trouble shoot for the root cause, then resolving it.

Hopefully, it will be soon; however, I doubt this will be resolved by the end of the year. More likely sometime after the first of next year. If it is sooner, good on them.

I'm not holding any hope of it being resolved for a long time to come. Meanwhile, I refuse to use Combat Styles again after this bovine excrement of situation killed my ability to play my oldest character in the game.

  12. I get the 6,500 tech fragment grind for your first and second one but that really needs to be lowered for upgrades. When you are buying a new car and you trade in your old one, would you ever take $0 for your perfectly working trade in?

BW charging 6500 for crappy "set bonus" implants is beyond the pale. They should not cost more than the individual pieces of the true set bonus gear we had in 6.0. The ONLY reason they have it this way is to freaking slow us to a crawl and force us to grind, and grind, and grind for 3 to 6 months. Frack that. I have my 2 legendary implants and that is all I'm spending my tech frags on.

I'm not going to grind for 39,000 tech fragments per character (double for those who have a second combat style) to get to the 3rd tier. With 21 level 80 characters, that is a total of 819,000 tech fragments for said 3rd tier.

If those who want to deny us casual and/or solo-players modable gear they whined to BW about can't handle that, tough scat. I'm playing my way, not the way TPTB demand that I do. Karma...that's all that needs to be said, Karma.

  13. So this has been going on since 7.0 dropped. I am and was a subscriber though all of this.

When 7.0 launched, I couldn't wait to add a 2nd combat style to my toons, and that is what I tried to do. Logged on to my Sorc, and wanted her to become a part assassin. So I can change between sorc and assassin, easy enough request right? Little did I realize it didn't add a 2nd combat style, but it REPLACED my combat style. So now I am only assassin.

Thinking I must of misread adding a 2nd combat style quest, I tried it again on another toon, and never did the prompted message says "replacing" or "changing out". It only says along the lines of ADDING another combat style. So the game prompted message is inadvertently doing something it said it wasn't suppose to do. Cause honestly, how is a player suppose to know otherwise?

So I message Customer Service, and now for a month, and their response either one of three response, 1) Not my problem, 2) Are bots (because of their copy paste response that doesn't address anything that was mention in the ticket), 3) says "working as intended", or a mixture of all 3 mention above

After a month with dealing this, I am so disgusted with EA/Bioware employees (assuming they weren't bots). I wish there was a number I can call or live chat and report this and hopefully they would be actually listening for once.

Again I am so disgusted with them, I would say "shame on them", but that would imply the have some small amount common decency and a soul. For someone that is trying to restore something that the game has caused shouldn't be punish to this degree. I just want my Sorc back, and no I don't want to re-roll a character I have spent 8 years working on her, I just don't want to start again.

I love SWTOR, but honestly now I don't want to play anymore because how this game is being handle by employees that could care less. That even asking for a simple conversation for 1-2 minutes is TOO MUCH commit to give to a player, and get a real honest answer.

JanitorKane, I know exactly what you're going through. My original tank, a Jugg I've played for 10 years is now stuck as a Darkness Assassin. At this point in time, I will never see him as a Juggernaut. Not until such time they fix it. However, I sent another message detailing exactly what happened in such a manner those who live in India (where most of BW/EA's CS agents are) would have no problem understanding it. After 3 or 4 days, the finally responded letting me know it was bug that BW is aware of and they would fix it in "a future update!"

Even here on the forums JackiO mentioned this and CommunityTeam listed it. However, no one else has or when it would be addressed. So, my main tank is useless to me. I only choose the Darkness Assassin style for situational use. Now, I'm not able to play him.

I'd start post bombing the forums over this but I know how they'll react. They don't give a flying frack about our issues with their game now. As far as I am concerned, Combat Styles in their current forum, should be completely removed from the game until such time they absolutely fix it so what happened to us (and believe you mean there are a lot of people who have suffered this issue, some even being forced into opposite factions. You can find those posts in General and in Bug forums.

Luckily, I have another Immortal Jugg tank at 80 with both legendary implants and crappy green gear too boot. I'd like to take him into KOTET and beyond...however, with all the issues I've read going on in those two story lines...I think I'll just wait it out until sometime next year when they may have all the bugs fixed or "work arounds for all to play with!"

Anyway, TL;DR - It's been identified as bug, they'll get to it if & when they can, and there's nothing they can do for any us at this present time. In other words, we all have to be buttercups and suck it up!:mad::mad::mad::mad:

  14. Firstable i wouldn't care less, neither do i believe what some random guy in the Internet works or it's actually suppose to works. This is on you, and i don't care.

The reason for this reply from you is because you cannot provide the information I requested. To do so would cause you a great deal of Cognitive Dissonance. Then you throw the obligatory insults about some random guy...ahem. <SMH>

The response you gave is typical from one who believes in their version of reality, all others are insignificant not worthy of little attention. All of this because I asked to quantify your statement with factual verifiable citations (proof) backing up your claims. You did not because you cannot. Instead of admitting it you chose the path of combative defensiveness. Tsk Tsk Tsk.

As far as I am concerned you have no credibility. Your opinion, as subjective as it is, is just another opinion with no credence. As for the rest of your diatribe, I didn't even bother to read it. It is was simply dismissable as obvious fallacies.

  15. I have a good few books where on the cover you read things like ISO26262 and DO-178C and similar things. In that context you have to make sure that even your design is sound, in fact, unless you are Boeing, even your design is crosschecked and validated in detail, must be, to fulfill the process requirements.

Contrary to that, MMO game design is often done in ebony tower contexts where (mostly younger) designers fly high about ideas and whatnot, just to repeat mistake after mistake which people like them have done decades before already. And not only that, these designs are often not even consistent in themselves.

A great analogy. Total Quality Management is sorely lacking, in most MMO developing companies, and we're seeing it with this company. Like Coca-Cola Corporation and their disastrous changes to the "new Coke," BioWare is setting precedence in a similar manner where other developer companies will sit up and take notice of what not to do to lose a large portion of a company's long-term financial income (or maybe not).

  16. Balancing is really really bad right now. I mean especially for nim ops where there are like 4 FOTM classes and the rest is just not playable. (And the fact that some nim ops are played with 1 heal because that class is just so op.)

So it would be great if balancing would be a priority in the next update.

BioWare developers are incapable of balancing without using a sledge hammer to make changes. They know not the meaning of tweaking any ability to see if that improves or not. Their track record on this is indisputable. They use massive nerfs or insane buffs to classes and tell us to wait 6 months to see if any corrections are required.

  17. They're a horrible expense, and are wasted if a higher iRating item drops randomly.

It was never a great idea to have barriers to equipping gear, anyway. They should go.

They just need to add an mk slot to every piece of gear now. Make it standard just like mod slots were.

I agree. They should leave the slots that we can unlock with credit cost they charge now. For the crafters (myself included) they can then significantly reduce the number and type of mats required for crafting all augments at all levels to help compensate crafters so their crafting costs are substantially reduced. This is a good compromise I can live with.

  18. YAgain it's proven million time that the majority of people never ever gets their hand on forums, reddit and all kind of b.c. discussion wasting their time.

Quantify this statement of yours with validated and verifiable proof; otherwise, it is just your opinion, a subjective opinion, you are trying to add weight to using a straw-man argument. Provide your "proof" with documented evidence to support your ascertain; otherwise, stop trying to use a counter-argument based on your demeaning passive aggressive posts.

As someone who is intimately acquainted with retail and commercial customer service and satisfaction, dealing with customers, business, and corporations, banks, federal and state governments, it is those customers who you never hear from that cause the most financial damage to a company when they stop buying, using, in this case, playing. A statistician can extrapolate using Steam's data to show how the game is affected over all and be really close within a margin of error of +/- 3% or so.

This is the kind of thing I teach at the collegiate level. BW/EA weakest link is its Customer Service, it is the worse I've ever seen or had to be involved with, and I am speaking professionally. CS is what we are seeing now from all who are involved with BioWare and they are making this situation worse by each post they make.

Steam's transparency of those logging in to play the game is a mirror of what it looks like in total. I can safely say that what is happening that we cannot see is BioWare's own metrics show the very same thing, except at a higher percentage.

Do you believe Chris, Keith, and the rest have, after a month of total silence from them, started posting what they are doing, out of the goodness out of their hearts? No, they are in damage control mode and trying to stem the hemorrhaging of subscribers and players from all platforms and it is not working. They are only making things worse.

Leave your feelings about the game and the company at the door, open your eyes to all platforms where discussion is happening and remember those who do not come here or in-game either, announce they are unsubbing, they just do it and walk away are the largest group to do so, mostly likely never to return.

Those who experience such a terrible experience as we are seeing right now, about 75%, will never return and 100% of them will share their experience to a minimum of 16 people by word of mouth and 100 plus through social media. This is propagated at an exponential rate and embellished as it is shared. This is a nightmare scenario for BioWare and add in online Gaming Magazines jumping into the equation with their Op Eds is exacerbating everything.

Follow up: For satisfied customers, they will tell only 8 people word of mouth and half the number via social media platforms for which those listening or reading may tell others; however, since it isn't bad news, they don't deem it necessary to share.

  19. Looking at steam charts, it has never been so poor players in game then this week. They need to admit 7.0 failure and roll back 6.0 urgently.

The current crew will continue wearing rose colored glasses then when EA cleans house they'll be surprised as to why. The next group will come in see the steaming pile of nightmarish trash waiting for them, scream "What the fudge" running for the door psychologically damage for life! EA then closes the doors on the game and lose it's license as Disney will have had enough of the clown show.

  20. Really need to lower the personal conquest back to 50k. It is virtually impossible to get done if you have more than six characters. Not to mention it is a hamper on smaller guilds and seems to only favor the large conquest guilds.

Frankly, I've given up even trying anymore for my 2 personal guilds (Imperial/Republic). I have 3 of my 25 characters in another guild that I focus on now. When I have time, I try to do my other level 80 characters in completing at least the personal conquest.

1 or 2 per week including doing my 3 in my friend's guild in my hunt for the less than stellar legendary implants. That will take me 3 weeks to get one and another 3 weeks for the other only after the 3 I'm focused on are completed. Having to grind 13,000 tech fragments for each one is going to push that back even future. So, in a month's time I may get one maybe two characters completed.

I'm not going to work a second job with conquest because TPTB decided to force us to crawl through every damned thing this game has to offer. Their nightmare vision for the future is the absolute worse thing ever to happen in any MMO game I've ever played, mind you, I've played a dozen of them. I'll be damned if I'm going to participate in another grind-fest that rivals Blade & Soul's mindless 6 to 9 month long grind to get to the final level of gear.

Hopefully, losing another 25% or more of subscribers will force them to revert back to what we had before this ludicrous failure contraction update 7.0 ended up being.
