  1. You are missing some texture files and assets.

Running a repair will fix this most of the time, depending on which launcher you are using,

Open your launcher and login then look at the lower left corner of the launcher and check if you have the "ST" launcher if you do then close the launcher and go to your games install directory and delete the BitRaider folder, if you do not have the ST launcher then click the gear cog icon and select repair.

  2. Those items are/were available in Cartel Packs which are purchased via the Cartel Market. The packs themselves go on embargo and are no longer available for purchase after a few weeks, therefore the items in the packs can them only be purchased through the GTN or player trading.

You can find out what items were in all previous packs and when they were embargoed from this guide here - http://dulfy.net/2013/02/04/swtor-cartel-market-pack-list/

  3. DPS does stand for damage per second although is more commonly used to identify a damage dealing role, class or player.

EG: "Looking for 3 more DPS for..." means they are looking for 3 more players to fill the damage dealing role.

Tank also refers to a role, class or player that has very high defensive abilities and should be taking most of the damage and focus of enemies. Tanks do not have a reduced movement speed and can be very maneuverable although are not as mobile as some other classes.

Mobs means groups of enemies, either players or NPCs (non player characters). Mobs can also be used as a term for a single or group of weaker enemies that usually do not grant large rewards, another term for this is "trash" or "trash mobs".

  4. If I add a friend, is an invite sent, or does it just automatically add them with no choice/notification at the recipients end?

There is no notification send to the player being friended, there is nothing to accept and the target character is automatically added to your friends list, even if they are offline.

Does the person you're adding even know that they have been added to your list?

No the player being friended has no indication of who has them on their friends lists.

In theory could you be on lots of peoples friends lists and not even know about it?

    Yes

  5. Most likely caused by your antivirus or firewall blocking the games connection to the servers, could you try to add both the launcher.exe and swtor.exe to your firewall exception lists and set them to allow not auto.

If that doesn't help which antivirus software are you using?

  6. Window licker is a euphemism for a person of mentally challenged status, derived from the stereotyped behaviour. Depending on usage it can be offensive or just imply being a newb.

BiS is an acronym for Best in Slot, which means the best (highest stats) gear or mods available for that armor or weapon slot, IE offhand, relic, crystal.

  7. Im guessing you were originally on Jung Ma?

The Ebon Hawk (RP) and Jedi Covenant (PvE) would have the highest population on the East side with POT5 being the highest population PvP server.

All of the West server have a higher average population than the East although depending on when you play the East may be more suitable.

  8. You will definitely see an increase in population and the only other significant change will be that open world PvP will be more limited to when a player agrees to participate, IE turns on their PvP flag. Personally I enjoy the PvE servers more as you have a choice and you still get a fair share of base invasions and world PvP.

Also if you are playing from the west side or the west servers are more suited to the times you can play this would be a good opportunity to switch to say the Begeren Colony which is the RP-PvE server for the west.

  9. No, it's not usually not done and chances are they will not do it due to ownership and security concerns and of cause if a service like this was available it opens the game up to character trade.

  11. So option 2 then basically? Ok, but I'm pissed, (your help has been very much appreciated) That's a whole days patching wasted now.

If you really don't want to redownload I can suggest other things to try but the vast majority of the time using the SSN launcher fixed things like this.

Anyway sorry to here that, keep us updated and hopefully you'll be back in the game soon.

  12. 62.74, can anyone tell me if this is normal?

No it's not, of cause there could be other problems causing this but if I were you (even with slow internet speeds) I'd switch, let it download over night and you can pause it and continue later if needed.

  13. Followed option one, it's sped up but not by much, before it took like an hour just to install a further 10%. Keeping an eye on it now. Can you explain more fully what exactly option 2 does please?

Basically you are using the streaming or "BitRaider" launcher at the moment and the above changes the launcher patching mode to the original non-steaming mode. Doing this requires a different file setup so some if not all of your existing install may have to be redownloaded, although the original patching mode is much more reliable and you shouldn't have the issue again in the future.
