  1. I realize developers is a generic term to most people. It still grates like nails on a chalkboard when people use developers in this context.

A developer has NO say in advertising. They are a coder, or an analyst, or a designer. They do not get a say in business decisions. Unless they are also the owner, in which case they will but with their management hat on.

You want to talk to management for this. I know, it sounds cooler to say developers or whatever.

Okay, done venting now. Nothing to see here, move along. :)

  2. I have cartel companions that I take out while gathering. Since they can't gather they can fight while I gather if for some reason I have aggro and this will not interrupt my gathering. Additionally that means I always have a comp I can use for things 'other than crafting' while I have 8 comps out.

It's more a personal preference thing since I have considerably more than 8 comps anyway but I like having the cartel comps for the above purpose anyway.

  3. That's not the same thing we are talking about and you know it. Stop trying to derail this thread already because you don't like it and move along. You can't try and stop discussion just because you don't like the topic at hand. You are not a moderator nor do you own these forums. There is nothing wrong with what we are doing. You also are fibbing, I read the thread last night and there was definitely more people saying they should which to a buy to play model than continue on with a subscription only model that isn't working out for us.

The reason for that is that a group of people who are enamored with BTP were in a nasty and frankly off-putting manner attacking anyone who countered their points, or simply disagreed with them for whatever reason. There is no point to discussing something with someone who does nothing but dismiss you with no counter other than 'you are wrong, I'm right'. Maybe this thread can be more give and take.

Could you please tell me, because I frankly do not now, if any MMO has used this model. Other than ESO and Guild Wars. Neither of those are MMO's I would even contemplate playing, not for the model, for their content, which I do not find appealing.

  4. If it's not pertinent to the furthering of the FP, you shouldn't expect others to wait on you. Ask if it's OK, if they say no, then don't do it. If they don't care, do w/e.

Your best choice, while gathering in a master mode in particular, is to go in with guild-mates who are also crafters. Everyone goes in with the expectation that you will be gathering mats. In directive 7 you'd have to share of course and alternate scavenging since most of the mats there are metals. Gathering together 3 other guildies isn't normally a problem even in a small guild(I don't assume the size of your guild, it could be large for all I know in which case even easier).

  5. do they drop in solo mode?

If you look at solo tab and then at the individual flashpoints on the dropdown the rewards will list what you get doing the fp. Traitor among the chiss is moderately different in that you get a guaranteed deco drop every boss though, on solo mode (either solo or story, both of which can be solo'd).

  6. My sorc isn't able to even trigger the Andronikus return mission. I'm playing a sorc but Andronikus' return mission simply doesn't exist for my char...maybe due to the fact that I got him back from the Odessen terminal some months ago.

But that obviously hasn't been fixed. The sadest thing about this is not even that I just don't get his return mission (though i'm playing a sorc) the sadest thing is: I don't care anymore.

You have to have completed the storyline through Iokath on your sorc for the alert for Andronikos to trigger.

  7. The reputation grind is almost is bad as the CXP grind and Valor levels 70 to 100. The Champion level phase of each reputation is particularly and obnoxiously long and should be shortened.

The optimal way of getting reputation of course is doing the events with multiple characters. Then saving the rep tokens till the following week when surpassing the current week's reputation cap.

Also, prior 4.0 both the Plague and Gree events were once every three months!

Eh. The command crates drop rep items too remember. I think I actually finished maxxing my rep on Gree and Thorn with rep items from command crates on my alts.

  8. And you are personally attacking me calling me a drama queen and then expect me to listen to you. So enjoy personally attacking me cause it only strengthens my argument and weakens yours. Or do people not understand that’s how things work? You do not go into a freaking conversation personally attacking someone as you weaken the argument of those who agree with you but people like you will continue your toxicity on the forums and probably do so in the game. Sad sad sad. At least Lunafox knows how to talk without personally attacking people on here and making her point clear unlike toxic people like you.

And it also does not excuse the vote kick reason given, which I do not have to give you or anyone other person in this forum evidence of it, as it is a violation of the terms of service as it calls a player out and I will do no such thing, the only people I have to give the evidence to is swtor itself but how to do is is not really clear.

You open Help in your dropdown menu. Choose customer service. Open ticket. Use category Harassment. State what happened. Sorry, can't input a screenshot there but type exactly what your screenshot says. State date and time. They have logs, they can look it up.

Second. Send a PM to Eric Musco with the information. Describe clearly, with details, exactly what happened. Tell him the date and time (give an approximate if you are not sure of exact time.) Attach the screenshot. He will escalate your complaint, and probably respond to you.

    That's what you do.

  9. I agree with the OP. This issue has been discussed before, and he is going to get a lot of disagreement from people who don't belong in story mode at all.

Story mode is for the Lore, and no other reason. It's a chance to look at the scenery and the monsters, not wipe repeatedly until you give up. Story mode should, by definition, be viable for leveling characters, to be attempted as they are encountered in the story line, not years later in BIS gear.

To this day, I can't associate most raids with the story line they were supposed to be a part of. Let's see: KP must have been Makeb? DF was Oricon? And what was the Op we were supposed to do on Yavin 4? The one no-one has ever done when they got there. What Op was that?

I enjoy running story mode Ops...on my BIS warrior. Entire pug-groups pass on the drops because we are all in good gear, and no-one needs 236 gear.

No SM isn't for the lore. It is so nebulously tied to the storyline you can't even figure out what planet they are associated with. SM is for conquest and gearing in the 2nd tier. And yes, a new player who KNOWS THEIR CLASS and LISTENS can do them right now. It is also for learning to get to HM. It isn't even great at learning to get to HM but it is something. You take out SM and no one new will ever see a HM because NOTHING in game will prep them for it in the tiniest bit.

HM is unforgiving. You cannot just step into it without at least having seen the Op in storymode without being carried.

  10. An SM DOES have a lot less damage on the mechanics from HM that are in SM. Half of the mechanics are not in but the ones that are have SIGNIFICANTLY less damage than HM or NiM.

Giving you a 'participation' trophy for going into the Op and not completing it is ... <shakes head> I don't even know what to call that. It is completely unnecessary. The problem with PUG groups most of the time isn't even necessarilly that folks don't know their roles. It's the one or two folks who run ahead and refuse to listen who wipe you.

As a healer I can 'carry' one or two people. I can't carry more than that that. Even with only one that is failing to listen on some SM Op's I'll just let them die and res them afterwards. One stupid person who fails to listen and does not kill their assigned hypergates CAN wipe you on the last boss of SM TFB if you waste your time trying to heal them.

  11. You don't need a study guide to do SM ops. You need to watch your feet. Don't stand in red circles. Be aware of any circle under your feet. Move. Don't pull aggro off the tank. Cleanse yourself, and others if you can. Use focus target. Interrupt casts from bosses. Simple things.

Environmental awareness mostly is needed for SM.

If you don't have that no amount of decreasing difficulty will make you get past a SM ops short of taking all mechanics out entirely.

  12. Sorry but IMO your definition of "viable" is outta whack.

    As for crew skills:

there is minimal benefit to crit chance on gathering skill missions (for grade 10 materials the difference between using rank 1 and rank 50 is 50 credits per unit of material; even white materials the difference between rank 1 and rank 50 is only 150 credits per unit and is still MUCH cheaper to run the mission with a rank 1 companion than buying off the vendor.

For mission skills sure there is a desire for high crit chance, but is the cost of getting from rank 30 to 50 (~4.25 million credits using grade 5 purple; FYI 1-30 costs 1.235 million) worth it? Again the difference between rank 30 and rank 50 is 1500 credits per purple material. But even if in one's opinion the expense is worth it one only NEEDS four companions at 50 per mission skill (two rich missions two bountiful missions). Granted if a character has two mission skills that's eight companions. Or if one seeks non-top grade materials on a regular basis.

For crafting skills the reality is that only extra unit crafting is worthy of high crit chance: so barrels/hilts, armoring, mod, enhancement, color crystal, dye module, augments, and slot kits. While getting an augment slot in a piece of equipment is desirable the added value is minimal. And it is rare to need all eight companions to craft at their peak ability.

And across the board unless you are babysitting the missions (AKA the moment a companion finishes a mission or crafting you send them back out again) efficiency is meaningless.

TL;DR - sure there is value in rank 50 companions but the game does not REQUIRE that ALL companions be that rank. Only a player's compulsion does that.

As to macros. I won't get into it here because it is against the TOS. Suffice it to say, you missed the point. Think a little bit

A war supply takes 15 mins (shaving off the seconds) on a level 50 comp, it takes 33 mins on a level 30 comp, it takes 45 mins on a level 15 comp.

An invasion force takes 1 hour on a level 50 comp, 2 hours on a level 30 comp and 3 hours on a level 15 comp.

That's a huge difference in a crafting conquest week. Just FYI.

  13. So, I usually dont post in chat unless I am selling something.

And I have noticed that people never really had an issue with chat until the merge. IMO, I dont think people from different servers have got used to other people. Most of the time chat is pretty calm and maybe...twice a week...you will get some troll that spends a good 4 hours typing in all caps dropping N bombs, F bombs and just plain raging. I ignore them. As for sex and politics, SWTOR is fairly relaxed lol. Politics are in every game, I dont think we should start banning people (as if BW would ever do that lol)

    They wont moderate chat.

They wont add interns to moderate reports.

They wont add special chat channels (anytime soon at least).

Best you can do is JUST ignore. Save reports for real issues, spammer (credit spammers), Real Life Threats, Bots. Reporting people for saying "yea trump" or " f this f that" wont do anything.

That being said, the one thing that I think would help is account ignore. When you hit ignore you can block all their toons and your legacy shares your ignore list.

It IS a real issue to see detailed descriptions of sexual acts. This is occurring regularly in general chat on fleet. This is not an 18+ game.

  14. Most of us were looking forward to something happening in January: the end of the traitor arc, some new stuff to do, maybe a new daily planet. Right now we're not getting that.

At this point, you are making your long-time supportive players feel like chumps. One operation boss most people won't see, a few "class specific" companions that won't be available for everyone... and that's it? Until a flashpoint later in the first quarter?

What is wrong with this picture, guys?

This is getting downright ridiculous. You owe us an explanation about where this game is heading. We are your paying customers. Why do you think you can put us off once again, yet another month or two, before a pretty shiny roadmap post that won't have very many specifics comes out that you think will placate the masses... when you know it won't?

Enough already. Stop jerking us around and start providing us facts. If the game is on life support, tell us it's on life support. If we're not getting another expansion -- it's now been over a year -- then tell us we're not getting another expansion. Stop waiting for your "roadmap" stuff to LEVEL WITH YOUR PAYING CUSTOMERS.

I like this game. I always have. I enjoy the replay value. I like the operations and flashpoints.

But I'm at my wit's end, and you owe us an explanation. I pay you subscription dollars every month. You owe us that much.

  15. Forums are different than the game though. On the forums you can get banned. I can personally vouch for this as I do believe I have the longest record of infractions in the history of the game. It would take me three screen shots to show the lost of all the infractions/bans, I have received. I have had a ban time of a year a half [not back to back, total].

They absolutely do make every effort to see the rules on the forums obeyed or punished for lack there of. Even three month bans aren't enough to stop people from breaking rules because the rules on the forums are far too 'anal'. I'm not a malcontent, I'm not a 15 year old looking for attention, I'm not looking to come across as a 'bad ***', I'm a normal guy who speaks like a normal guy and responds like a normal guy, yet, I get 3 month bans like a kid get's tootsie rolls on Holloween.

As far as I am concerned, the rules on the forums are too much, which is exactly the reason I do not support that kind of rule enforcement in the game. It sucks to be banned from posting but I've put up with it, if they were to ban me from playing the game? No chance would I pay them one cent for time I am not able to play which would mean, in effect, I'd unsub. I'm not paying for services not rendered to me, I don't care what the rules of TOS state, you ban me from playing a game I have already paid for for that time period, that is the last time I will pay them.

There is no way, I am the only person that would feel that way.

Short of threatening lives, I don't care what anyone says in chat, you should not be banned for a service you have already paid for because someone doesn't have mental fortitude to deal with bad words.

If that's the kind of game you are looking for, go play LOTRO, they follow that kind of puritanical rule enforcement and that's why they don't get any money from me anymore.

It's okay to slaughter jedi children in mass, order the deaths of innocents, kill people for no reason other than they miffed you are you have a force choke option, it's fine to destroy entire worlds and civilizations, it's perfectly fine to kill companions, throw people off cliffs, kill wildlife so you can get +5 more to your whatever the F stat, blackmail people to have sex with you [sith Warrior, sith woman who's husband youve been sent to kill on DK vanilla storyline], lie to the jedi council because you want to hit the skins with Kira, Practice Polygamy [These are my wives, Vette and Jaesa], and pretty much kill anyone you feel like it so you can see cutscenes with your character cutting down whoeverthe F with a lightsaber.

All that's perfectly fine, - but don't be a potty mouth.

Wanna find a fool proof way of seeing this game die? Start enforcing TOS in chat.

It's far to late for any of that. They can strictly enforce TOS in game, or, they can continue to make a reasonable profit return, they can't do both.

The level of hypocrasy over this is mindboggling. There isn't one person in this game who doesn't use the very words that they are complaining about seeing in the game when it suit's their moods. People can use every ethnic slur that has ever existed since the dawn of mankind for people who are of Italian descent, I couldn't possibly care less. If a black person calls me a Honk-E, why would I get offended, he's right, I am one. If a gay person wants to make fun of the fact that I'm straight, go for it, that's not going to offend me. That's like me being offended if a girl makes fun of the fact that I'm a guy, which, in reality, is an impossibility because I like being a guy.

Call me stupid, call me dumb, call me thoughtless, call me forgetful, call me slow, call me brutal, call me a whimp, call me any insult you like, it's not going to make me not want to go into WZs and kill everyone I see, in fact, it may very well make me want to do it even more, but certainly not less.

Where do you draw the line here? No personal insults or just the words themselves? So is it okay to say "Man, The Last Jedi was total s**t" [which it was btw =] ], but not "Your DPS is total s**t"? Or I can't even use the words when they aren't even an insult to anyone, just a 4 letter word?

If the mere use of a 4 letter word troubles someone even when it not an insult in any fashion, that person should be ashamed of themselves. If someone finds those words offsensive because they are religious, that's their damn problem. Take that up with God. You're religious hocus pocus is your problem. No one has the right to hold other people up to their own personal standards by rule enforcement of morality. Bad words, are moral issues, they are not a threat to society, as 99% of society use those words.

There is not one sane guy, not one, who doesn't use 4 letter words on a daily basis. I don't consider any man who doesn't use 4 letter words sometimes because of religious mores as sane. - I'm not saying people shouldn't be respectful of one another, of course they should when possible, but that's just it, it's not always possible. If someone is mean to you, you are pefectly justified to return the favor. That doesn't make you "just as bad as them", it makes you a normal human being. People, who never use bad words, ever, are not normal human beings.

If the people who want such strict enforcement of chat as is being discussed get their way, it will mean the end of this game. People will not pay for a service they are not getting, even if they are technically breaking the rules of TOS.

Precedent is a legal consideration and a mitigating factor in courts of law. If a person who was arrested under a legal statute dated from the 1800's which is still tecnically on the books for engaging in oral sex outside of marriage [look it up, they still exist believe it or not] and was brought before a judge, that judge would throw that charge out in under 10 seconds on the basis of precedent. Precedent being that that law has not been enforced for decades and has not been pursued as such.

There is only one problem with dealing with people in this game, and it is the same exact problem as is in every single MMO in the world, ever, and that is, you can't hit people.

You are making the gross and incorrect assumption that people are objecting to swear words. I can ignore those all day long. Long and detailed, and extremely explicit sexual descriptive. Direct whispers to people who have the misfortune to be on fleet propositioning you in explicit language. Explicit descriptions of sex in general chat. Yeah, that's happening. Often. I object to that. It is NOT roleplay. It is trolls infesting and doing what 'they' think is roleplay.

  16. ignore it and move on, engaging some folks is a losing proposition and will only lead to more aggravation. you wont convince people topics shouldn't be discussed, and I don't see BW doing anything significant to curtail it at this point. use the meager tools you have and make the best of it

I've given up on reporting. Nothing happens. I ported to fleet today. On a female character, a healer, forming an ops group in guild. The character received a whisper when I landed. "Hey baby. Come to my ship and I'll f*ck you hard." I put the person on ignore. Noted the guild tag they were running and went on to doing to the Op. This is the 2nd time within a week that I have had something like that happen. Yeah, its annoying. They don't know I do happen to be female. Most female toons are run by males. They were just being dimwits. All I can do is ignore them. When I hit the limit I take out the ones that are oldest so I can add new ones. Yeah, that opens me up to stuff happening again but it's my only choice.

  17. The amount of small supporting characters dotted throughout all 8 class stories and subsequent expansions who just never show up again is ridiculous. Why never use these people again? Like Shalim Avesta for example? Jonas Balkar?Loads of other small people it would be cool to see again. If it's a voiceover issue just replace them for god sakes find something mildly similar it's worth it for the story.

I mean at this point we've met so many solid characters why not bring some more back and see what they've been up to. Seeing Tai Cordan and Aristocra Saganu again was VERY encouraging, but you need to KEEP IT UP!! :D They don't need to be big story appearances obviously, but small cameos are always a fun experience.

    Just my two cents.

You are making the wild assumption that they actually have staff writers right now. Writers contracted to put out specific (short) bits of content yes, staff writers...no signs of them to speak of.

  18. It's a series... he's not going to change the title to make you feel better. He's done videos on actual dead games more than this.

    ......

The two posts I quoted continue to support his idea that people cannot have anyone talk bad about anything they enjoy. They just have to defend it.

It's called a 'discussion'. The civil (or not so civil, depending on the poster) exchange of ideas based on that person's point of view. There is nothing wrong with having said discussion.
