  1. Hi, First off, nice discussion. I dont write in the foruns often as im super busy with work and family. To clarify, I'm looking at this from outside the box. If BW were to embark on such an idea, it would be something of an expansion for it to work. I think it would have to offer positives and negatives in order to be fully successful; if you switch sides you lose your companions, or they could turn against you. (As in KotoR) Maybe the player would not receive a companion that the mirror side standard class story would give, instead getting only one for so many levels, and it would be for better or worse. I guess the other part of what I'm tryin to say is, it can be done. Saying it couldn't isn't realistic. Is it worth it would be more the question. I surely don't have the time to flesh out an idea like that, but a team of people sitting at a desk getting paid to could. Plus they're gonna have all class story and twists right there in front of them to play with. I still think its a nifty idea.
  2. Hi, Just an idea for the mad geniuses over at bioware. I think it would be cool that when a player gets enough DS points as a republic player, or vice versa, they should have the ability to defect to the other side. Would make for some wild class story twists. The fallen Jedi, or the redeemed Sith. Still being able to keep certain LS or DS powers. A light side Sith sorc with force lightning? Or a dark side Jedi guardian tank or shadow. Kinda cool. Just a thought for a future expansion. Cheers
  3. Nice work!! Looks like the devs have found a nice balance. Thanks for posting that info. I have a lvl 22 guardian vigilance spec, just curious how u feel the class handles in PvE? Is it still the same situation where vigilance> focus for PvE? Sorry for the questions..I wish I had the time to play on the test server and come up with my own results. Much appreciated.
  4. Sleepyking, Thank you so much for your thorough explanation. I understand much better now. So, 2.0 sounds exciting. I'll enjoy having the ability to beat down mobs a bit better. Though I wonder why people are complaining about the guardian class? Doesn't make any sense to me. Again, Thank You
  5. Greetings, I'm a new player and reading through these forums is sometimes a bit confusing. In reading posts on the new test server for the 2.0 patch, and of course the patch notes, it seems guardians are getting a big change up. I'm specced as a vig guardian, lvl 22. I'm just getting used to using to my rotations, building confidence and learning to group properly as both a tank and moderate dps dealer. Just a little clarification on whats gonna happen to my class? Maybe some info on whether or not its better to switch to focus? I'm mainly PvE, but I did well in PvP, (I think). My first (and only, so far) run through I scored 30 kills of which 2 were solo kills. I just kinda want to get a feel for whats changing. Please help?
  6. Greetings, This is my 2nd or 3rd post. I'm a lvl 20 guardian. Just a suggestion to add in mini-games. Pazaak would come to mind since it has been a big staple of the games series since Kotor 1. Thank You.
  7. Greetings, I am a new player to the MMO scene in general, with my only other MMO'ing being a short stint on Star Wars Galaxies back in '05. I'm simply posting this to give a thumbs up to the developers and tell 'em they did a excellent job. I'm currently a lvl 20 guardian, and I'm finding a great sense of joy playing this game a bit, while enjoying the original Kotor series when I don't have the time to grind in an MMO. Playing the prequels is really giving it a saga feel, especially with the rich story content in this game. I find myself walking (not running) through the levels, enjoying the scenery, looking for lore items. Most of the time I get on, the servers are not crowded and I don't have to see story points being activated by others (keeps sense of immersion). Its a great single player game with the ability to group if/ when I choose to. Awesome. If I could make a suggestion, it would be to add in some mini-games. How much fun would it be to play pazaak against a friend? Or Dejarik on Nar Shadaa? I think it would add another level of enjoyment and immersion. Rather than just questing, talking and killing things (that is fun too, don't mistake me). I just honestly don't understand why this is missing, given that it was a big part of the previous titles. Anyhow, just a suggestion. Peace.
  8. Hi, Yea, cyberpower pc is where I purchased my rig. I read of many people with excellent, if not older setups running swtor with no problems. Then I read of others with what should be cutting edge setups experiencing big errors and bugs, or no problems at all. The customer service forums are a mash up of I hate this! or I love this!, I'm thankful for the clear responses here. Anyhow, thanks. I look forward to playing this game. Other games I'm excited to finally be able to play on highest settings: Heavily modded ArmaII, LOMAC series, DCS Blackshark and A-10, maybe Skyrim.....
  9. Thanks for the excellent advice everyone. I like the idea of turning up game specs piece meal. Makes sense. I feel a lot better. I was worried when I was reading that swtor can ruin processors etc etc, specially since I practically sold a kidney to get the setup I have. Can't wait till mid March!
  10. Greetings from Detroit, I recently purchased SWTOR, and as a player of the originals I'm amped to see another old republic in the series. However, I'm a bit nervous. I've been reading up on this game for some time...and it seems that it is badly optimized for higher end systems. This game is coinciding with my purchase of a new gaming pc (specs in the sig), so I'm excited to play, but you see where I'm going with this. My system will be finished by mid March, so I still have some time to consider if I should jump in or wait for BW to optimize a bit better. Advice? Thanks in advance.
