Are you looking forward to SWTOR SIMS/Animal Crossing?

No real new content, ignoring the player base on aspects of the game.

Don't you feel cheated for being a subscriber and getting drip content that no one asked for?

No, because there are more important things in my life to get mad about than the content in a video game. 🙄

  2. The Zakuulan Practice Saber was perfect for my Sith Warrior to use on Korriban (I like to give my Force user classes different weapons, but couldn't figure out what to give my Warrior.), but I was surprised we didn't get a Double-Bladed version as well. It would be perfect for Shadows/Assassins, or for creating a semi-accurate Brianna The Handmaiden (Or any Echani) lookalike character.

  3. Since we will be getting Date Night quests for all the romanceable companions, I feel like now would be a great time to add new Companion customizations as quest rewards for doing the Date Night quests. It would give players extra incentive to do them (In addition to the achievements that are already in the game), especially if you add more than one customization as a quest reward.

For example, A bearded Theron customization, Koth, or Lana with different hair colors, a healed Arcann, or even different looks for each companion. As for Companions who might be coming later, a Bearded Jorgan, Risha or Ensign Temple with Lana or Senya's hairstyle, or Corso with Koth's dreads!

They should have left the reputation track in since that was one of the things that drew people into GS. But I think they removed the reputation track because they run out of ideas on how to allow players to continue earning reputation once the season is over. It was originally tied to a Season companion, and they already used "without companion" option for the last Season's currency.

It would have been better if they introduced an exchange where any of the Season's currencies could have been exchanged for any of the past ones. Another lost opportunity.

If they had allowed us to earn the Reputation achievements outside of the seasons since we could earn the rep items outside of the season as well, or even given us a rep vendor, I would have been happy if they kept the reputation track. But...

    Hey folks,

    Where is the Rep Track?!

Simply put, the intended functionality of a Rep track does not pair well with the functionality of Galactic Seasons. For us, we want a rep track to be something that a player can engage with over a long period of time, to work through, earn rewards and titles, etc. Since a GS is only available for a limited time we didn’t want to push into a FOMO feeling or anything like that. We want Rep tracks to be tied to things like Daily Areas.

However, there was a similar expectation of those items being on the track, of those Achievements being earned during the season, etc. And so as a middle ground we replaced the rep items with the Blueprint Fragments which could serve a similar purpose. The problem here is that our messaging and overall user experience for these could use some work. We didn’t communicate this change clearly up front and more importantly, Blueprint Fragments themselves don’t do a great job of communicating what they or what their purpose is.

Going forward, it is our intention to stop doing rep tracks for Galactic Seasons and reserve them for content where it makes more sense (like Daily Areas).

Anyways, this is a long post and I have thrown quite a lot of information at you. Thank you all for the continued feedback and I will pass on any more information as I have it.

I for one, am glad that you finally got rid of the GS Reputation Tracks. They never made sense to me, personally.

However, I do have to ask, since part of the FOMO feeling of doing the Reputation tracks was missing out on the companion customizations and achievements attached to those reputation tracks, are there ANY plans to allow us to get those companion customizations, or even retroactively granting those of us who hit legend rank in the GS Reputation Tracks the attached achievements? I missed out on getting Fen Zeil's trenchcoat customization from GS2, and would REALLY like to get that (Missing that one is annoying me in collections, since I have the other Seasons at 100% in Collections, except for GS2!)

    Hey folks!

We are seeing reports from players who are confused with how the Galactic Seasons 6 currency functions. This was not originally included in the GS6 article, but the two intended changes below info will be reflected there and in the patch notes as well.

    Reputation Track
Galactic Seasons 6 does not have a Reputation track like previous seasons. There is still an item to collect the same way you collected Reputation currency in the past. However, it is for Achievement tracking only and progress is granted when you collect it - you're safe to sell them for credits! It’s worth noting that these will cease to drop when you’ve unlocked the achievement.

Everyone has already said plenty about the GC change, but I am going to say this.

Good, I like this change. Having a Reputation Track for each season, as well as Reputation achievement you could only get during that season was a really bad idea. Especially when the GS Rep tracks had no Reputation vendor, as well as a companion customization tied to that achievement. It still would be nice if you guys allowed players to get those Reputation Achievement Customizations.

    Hello folks!

Just wanted to pop in real quick and give you some more info about these since we haven’t released all of the details.

    What are these exactly?

So these Armors and Weapons are new versions of existing ones that had randomized stats and that there was no other way to acquire their appearance in the game aside from existing world drops. These were no longer available to trade on the Galactic Trade Network due to the backend changes, but there are others that may not have been tradeable at all. There are a lot of them! Hundreds of weapons and over 2000 armor pieces. The sheer amount is why we didn’t post a detailed list.

    Collections

These items will not be in collections. They will however be Bind on Equip! This means they can be traded or sold on the GTN. A big part of why I wanted to get these into the game was to make up for the random stat appearance items no longer being tradeable on the GTN due to our backend changes.

I have to add to the chorus of Thank yous, Joe! But I do have a few questions:

    1. I know you mentioned that a detailed list would be difficult to share due to how many items are in the new Ancient Armaments login calendar, but even just the names of the weapons and full armor sets would be helpful for those of us who might be making a spreadsheet to track which pieces they do or do not have.

    2. I have to agree with others about putting them in either Collections or making them BtL. Or even BInd to Legacy on Equip. I've got plenty of credits, but with how much players will want these, I expect they'll go for insane prices on the GTN.

    3. Any chance we might see BtL/BtE versions of the old 1-50 FP Armors in the the Ancient Armaments? Or BtL/BtE versions of the Ilum and Makeb armor sets. along with the Rishi Pirate outfits?

And finally: Any chance there is a lookalike of the Imperial/Republic "Cutscene Blasters" in the Ancient Armaments?

    Hey Community!

Thanks for bringing this to our attention. We’ve investigated and the drop rates are in fact lower than intended. We made an internal change to how these drops are distributed and it unintentionally reduced the drop rate of the Galactic Season Reputation items. We will be fixing this in an upcoming patch, and the drop rates will return to what you remember!

As great as this is to hear, maybe you can also make it so if we earn the GS Rep items from previous seasons, and complete the associated Reputation Tracks, we can get the zero-point achievement related to those reputation tracks from previous seasons?

This originally started as the final project for my Adobe Premiere class. Still, as I was working on it over the semester, it started getting a bit... ambitious (As you can see in the KotFE & KotET sections), so I only turned in the "first section", which focused on the 1.x era and Origin Stories for TOR, and got an A in the class!

My goal was to make the trailer I wish we got for the tenth anniversary, but didn't. I was influenced by a lot of the pre-release trailers, as well as the different expansion trailers, and the fifth anniversary trailer (Which inspired the use of the Expansion logos, and the last minute of the video).

    Hi everyone,

Just wanted to say that I see your comments and I'm taking them back to the team to have more conversations about the Collection Unlock sale. So hang tight! I'll pop back in here when I have an update for you all.

Thanks, Jackie! I don't like to be negative with the game, and the Dev team, but this was one of those times when it just felt like I (And I bet others) needed to say something. If we had both this, and a Collections Unlock/Character Transfer sale, that would be nice.

I appreciate you sharing your thoughts on what you’ve played through so far in 7.4, I’m glad you found a fair amount of things to enjoy! Since I was tagged, I’d like to take this opportunity to pull back the curtain slightly and look at why certain narrative threads do and do not end up in the final product.

First, the most important thing to remember is that SWTOR is a BIG GAME. I know y’all know this already but I’m reiterating it anyway because it is a BIG. GAME. There are so many narrative threads–different character arcs, story permutations, big decisions–that you will experience from the second you arrive on the starter planet for your Origin Story.

However, when you compare the vast amount of potential narrative foundations to the resources we have to build on them, we have to be very mindful. Even for the things that seem like a no-brainer, like the examples you pointed out, we have to be very cognizant of where we spend our finite time and effort.

The more resources a piece of content uses, the wider breadth of the audience it has to be relevant to. A letter from a specific companion (even one that makes narrative sense to include) will only reach a portion of the audience, but it requires writing, feedback collecting, editing, revising, implementing, scripting, documentation, localization, and testing. On the other hand, a class-specific line in a KOTOR-style scene also reaches only a portion of the audience, but it has a considerably smaller impact on time and resources.

A similar example that you mentioned–choosing recognizable characters from the Agent, Inquisitor, and Warrior Origin Stories to appear on Port Nowhere. If an option exists to kill a character–as is the case for many of the notable characters from these Origin Stories–including them in the story means writing double the lines, recording double the dialogue, which snowballs into additional cinematic, design, scripting, and testing tasks.

Now, all that isn’t to say that killable characters will never be included (we’ve included several of them at the forefront of recent updates!), but it does partially inform our decisions. If we include a character with the potential to be so narrowly recognized, their inclusion in the narrative must be especially meaningful, even to players who do not recognize that character. Also, prioritizing content that has the widest impact across all players means our range of content can be polished to our necessary quality standards.

All that was a lot of words to say that when we’re considering the narrative threads to include in content, we view all the options through this multi-faceted lens of cost vs. impact. We choose what to include based on what fits our narrative goals, has a meaningful and far-reaching impact, and won’t be a detriment to scope, cost, and quality in the ways I’ve described. As humans with a finite amount of resources, that sometimes means we can’t include everything we’d like to. But these stories aren’t forgotten, and they still mean as much to us as they do to y’all!

I have to ask, what was the thought behind mixing both the SWTOR Style and KotOR Style cutscenes in the main story for 7.4? I found it pretty jarring to go from the standard opening on Port Nowhere to a KotOR-style cutscene on Ord Mantell, then back to the SWTOR style, and then to the KotOR Style. I thought the same when it happened in 7.3, when the majority of the story was told in the SWTOR-style cinematic, then every cutscene we had when working to help the Gormak and Voss was a KotOR-style cutscene, and then when we met the Three, it was a SWTOR Style cutscene. I can understand when it's things like Event stories or even the Manaan Daily questline, and Lane's questline. Still, the main story has always been told using the SWTOR Style, even back when the KotOR style cutscene design was introduced in 4.0, it was only used for Alliance Alerts and the Star Fortress Quests, never in the main story.

Is this going to be a thing we'll see more of in the main story going forward? I mean, I understand why it is used from a cost point of view (24 VA's, 8 per language in the game), and it makes it easier to include Origin/Class Story references, but it just seems like a weird choice that almost no one on the Dev Team has mentioned before 7.4, or even 7.3's release.

  12. I've hidden this post behind a spoiler, just an FYI.

    Spoiler

When you choose the dialogue option to capture Tyrus Brokenblade, there is no VO for the Male Smuggler. From what I've seen on YouTube, there is VO for the both Male and Female Trooper, Male and Female Bounty Hunter, and Female Smugglers. But, not Male Smugglers.

If you chose Khem, he eventually returns and Zash dies on Nathema. If you chose Zash, Khem (in his own body) dies on Nathema, but Zash is never heard of again.

We can presume she is alive somewhere. So yes, it's very possible and it seems more like an oversight that she hasn't returned, while Khem has.

    Spoiler

Do we have any confirmation that when Khem came back on Nathema that he came back in his original body, or somehow got his hands on another Dashade body?

Every day without Zash as a companion is a bad day. Every update I hope for an Alliance Alert that never comes. The only thing that keeps me going is the hope that we will someday get to see her again. Khem returned as a companion, why not her? She was arguably the best and most intriguing of the original companions for the Inquisitor (granted, the others were pretty boring, but still).

Agreed! Considering how many characters (Acina, Vowrawn, Gnost-Dural, Arcann, Seyna, Theron, Torian, to just name a few) can be killed by player choice, and show up for other players, it makes no sense to just ignore Zash.

  15. Greetings all! You might recognize my username from various posts I've made over the years here, and you might also know me from Twitter, where I really try to get more official music released from the game. And after an interaction, I had with Jackie around the time the most recent pieces of music from the R-4 Operation were released in January, I was inspired to write a blog/review series about the different Official music releases over the last twelve years, from the CE Soundtrack to the Legacy of the Sith Soundtrack. It's been a long time since I've A) Done any music reviews, and B) Actually written a series of blog entries, so it may read a little rough, but I really liked writing it, and am already working on Part II, which will be about the tracks that were released in December of 2011 as a leadup to launch. Hope you all enjoy it!

In 5.10.3, A number of planetary arrival cutscenes from the 1.0-2.0 era were updated to match the new "Cinematic" style arrivals that were introduced in Patch 2.4 - The Dread War. However, some of the arrival cutscenes were not updated in this patch and still play the old 1.0 style cutscene, or in one case, go straight to the loading screen.

These are the planets that do not have the updated arrival cinematics:

    • Imperial Voss (Plays the 1.0 Style Cutscene)

    • Republic and Imperial Makeb (Plays the 1.0 Style Cutscene)

    • Republic and Imperial CZ-198 (Plays the 1.0 Style Cutscene)

    • Imperial Ziost - Post Rise of the Emperor (This has been broken since the 3.2 patch was released in 2015, and I have reported it many times ingame, and on the Forums, but it hasn't been fixed. Maybe this post and the ingame bug report I am typing up will finally get it fixed!

I would also add to this list the cutscenes for Republic and Imperial Onderon (Plays the 1.0 Style Cutscene), and Republic and Imperial Mek-Sha (Plays the 1.0 Style Cutscene) and It seems these are still broken, but only for certain classes. For example, the Republic Mek-Sha and Republic Onderon cutscenes play for my Trooper, but not my Smuggler. But the rest of them (Imp Voss, Pub/Imp Makeb, Pub/Imp CZ-198 and the Imp Ziost (Post Rise of the Emperor) are all still broken and are not playing the new "Cinematic arrivals".

So, I've noticed that in addition to the ones above, a few of the planets added in the game since I posted this are still playing the 1.0 style cutscene.

Republic and Imperial Ruhnuk (Plays the 1.0 Style Cutscene)

Imperial Voss: Interpreter's Retreat (Plays the 1.0 Style Cutscene)

  17. I've noticed a few bugs that are specific to both HK-51 and Treek that started around the time of 4.0, but haven't been reported, or fixed. I've sent in bug reports in-game since, but nothing...

    1. When going through companion conversations of both the Imperial and Republic HK-51 and Treek, any equipped customizations are not shown, and weapons equipped revert back to the default weapon that HK and Treek come with. (For Example, my Trooper's HK-51 is wearing Advanced Recon HK customization and has the Commander's Sniper Rifle equipped, and they both appear in any other cutscene, EXCEPT for the Companion Conversation Cutscenes.)

    2. Players cannot gain influence with HK-51 or Treek during their companion conversations. I know that this has been mentioned as fixed in the past, but I can't be sure if that is still the case.

    3. This one only seems to affect HK-51, and is seemingly limited to certain cutscenes in the Forged Alliances Arc, and during Shadow of Revan. In the beginning of certain cutscenes in the Forged Alliances Flashpoints, on Rishi and on Yavin IV, HK-51 stands in a neutral, unmoving stance (As if he is in a model viewer).

    Hey SWTOR community!

    <Snip>

Now onto the feedback questions! We want to continually improve Galactic Seasons and keep the system exciting for players so we have some questions for you all.

    1. How are you enjoying the Galactic Season system overall?
    2. Do you like the Companions offered through a Galactic Season? Is there any way you think the Companions can be improved? What companion has been your favorite so far?
    3. Do you like the rewards offered from Galactic Seasons? Are there rewards you wish were included in the reward track?
    4. Do you enjoy the content used in Season Objectives? Are there parts of the game you wish you saw more, or less?
    5. Have you been able to complete Galactic Seasons? Do you feel the season requires too much effort, or is too easy to complete?
    6. How does completing a Galactic Season fit into your desired play session? Are you able to progress the Season while doing your normal activities, or do you feel Galactic Seasons prevent you from completing the content you enjoy?
    7. Do you have any other feedback or suggestions for Galactic Seasons?

Hello @BryantWoodI just finished GS4 this past week and wanted to share some more feedback I had!

Firstly, I want to say, while I loved the Underworld focus of Galactic Seasons 1-3, and the Force focus of Galactic Seasons 4, I think it would be nice to have a Sith/Republic/Zakuul Military focus for Galactic Seasons 5. Maybe the companion could be a Republic or Imperial officer that joins us, and maybe allow us to earn some more Imperial/Republic officer outfits from the GS vendors!

Now on to my specific feedback:

    1. I wasn't totally in love with GS1, but after the changes with GS2, I've been loving Galactic Seasons. I have a reason to group up for WB's now (Finally took down the Nightmare Pilgrim this season!) I've had a few... disagreements with the way some of the GS achievements work, but I touch on that below.

    2. I do, but it would be nice if the companions spoke basic, or we could give them custom outfits, which I loved about Altuur! Maybe a humanoid species companion for GS5, or Maybe a G0-T0 droid from the KotOR era as a companion! Just something that isn't a companion speaking an alien language!

    3. The fact that I was finally able to get more Ship Droid customizations made me so happy! However, as a player who has already gotten almost all of the Promotional items that are available on the GS vendors, there hasn't been much for me to buy in the last few seasons. Which is why I think we need more of... well. Everything! More companion customizations (especially for the companions from the 4.0-7.x era like Arcann, Lana, Theron, Senya and Koth, to just name a few), outfits like different Republic and Imperial Officer outfits, some of the rarer promo items like the various Cartel Coin Pets like the Juvenile Rancors, and the different Model fighters, as well as the old F2P Cross Promotional Pets like the LU-20 Builder and the N4-SW Runner, and the various May the Fourth pets.

    4. I really have. I'm a mostly solo player, and only do PVP on one character during the Double XP events, or during the PVP seasons, so having some incentive to either join up for WB groups, or the Sparks of War groups has been great, especially to get some achievements I don't normally have. But, it would be nice to have some World Boss or Sparks of War objectives that are set on the daily area worlds like CZ-198, or Section X. The Dreadtooth achievements are all that I need left for Section X, so

    5. I've been able to complete the track all four seasons, and the Reputation track only twice. I've had no problem with both, but I do use the Reputation boost from the login rewards for the GS reputation track (I'll talk more about how I feel about the GS reputation below).

    6. Since I tend to focus on solo objectives for the most part, I am able to do those in my own play sessions. Unless there is a group-specific one, then I tend to do those first.

    7. For this, I have three pieces of feedback.

    • 1. Increase the limit of GS tokens we have! Fifteen is too low, especially for players who already own the items on the GS vendors, and have no other things to buy!
    • 2. This goes with #1, and something I mentioned above. Bring back some of the past promotional items that were either not released (Like the TR-U4 Mini Pet from the Cartel Coin Cards), or have been released previously, but are not available now (Juvenile Rancors, and the different Model fighters from the Cartel Coin Cards, as well as the old F2P Cross Promotional Pets like the LU-20 Builder and the N4-SW Runner, and the various May the Fourth pets. And some outfits, or something!
    • 3. This has been some feedback I've had since GS2 started, but what is the point of having a Reputation track for the season if there is no reputation vendor?  As it is now, apart from the legacy titles, and the "Reach Legend Rank'' achievement for the season, there isn't much of a reason to finish the reputation tracks for the GS Reputations during or after the season ends. And if we can still earn the previous season's Reputation items when running with those previous seasons' companions, WHY can't we still earn the "Reach Legend Rank" achievements/Overall Season <X> achievements?

This is going to be a longshot, but here is what I suggest: Since we can still earn reputation items, and raise the reputation track for past GS seasons, as long as we are still using that companion, we should still be able to earn the "Reach Legend Rank" achievements AND the overall GS achievements that are tied to that Seasons character (Fen Zeil and "One With the Shadows/The Shadow of the Underworld" for GS2, PH4-LNX and "Authority on the Subject/Take The House" for GS3, and Amity and "Respected Guide/A Cold Throne of Solitude" for GS4). They are 0-point achievements anyways, so you wouldn't be taking something from any other player. And, if it's decided to rerun past Galactic Seasons, then it won't affect anything.

Also, there should be a Reputation vendor for all the GS Reputation tracks. The fact that there isn't a Reputation vendor doesn't make any sense to me and doesn't really match with the previous Reputation Tracks in the game. Maybe have some special customizations or items on the reputation vendor like a Fen Zeil customization where he is wearing a fedora, or a PH4-LNX customization that has her looking more like the GEMINI Droid she originally was. You know, something that makes leveling up the reputation worth it, if we can't get the reputation achievement

So far, I've been really happy with Galactic seasons as it, but the few things I've stated above have really bothered me. Part of me is hopeful that at least some of the suggestions I've made might happen.

  19. Earlier today, I tried to purchase a 60-day time code from the official site using my Paypal account, however instead of taking me to the Paypal login page as it usually does it, it just takes me straight to the receipt page, and my payment history says that the transaction has failed. When I called SWTOR's support, they mentioned that they were getting a lot of reports about this issue, but since I haven't seen anything official on Twitter or here, I thought I'd ask!

(I ended up buying a time code straight from steam, and it was added to my account)
