As Steve said, yes.  The one in Section X is a bit long if you are not a stealth character but it can be done, just have to watch how  you attack the mobs, some may need to be stun so you can take the others first.

That is way too much work. It's not worth fighting the mobs in that one. Just run through them all, throw your grenade or whatever and then jump to your death. Takes 30 seconds to finish that mission

I'm gonna quote Chris Schmidt, that posted on Twitter. He was a Dev of Swtor until 2022 and what he wrote is giving me high hopes:

. The moment Broadsword takes over, all that money goes into their pool and Swtor will be one of their biggest projects.

As I and others have stated, Chris is a huge reason the game is in this state. So really we take what he says with a very small grain of salt.

and no, that pool of money will mainly go to EA still and fund their other games. Don’t expect EA to start pouring more money into TOR. This move isn’t to give them more money (notice half if not more of the current devs are losing their job)

And yet, you and majority of everyone here jumped to the worst speculation possible. This is what happens when fear, mistrust and the doom bringers are left unchecked. No one here knows what Broadsword is going to do with the game. Stop listening to the doom bringers who keep saying maintenance mode because they've been saying stuff like this since 1.0.

You don't think we want to be positive about this change? It is incredibly hard to excited. What we can see and know about Broadsword, and the fact that half (and most likely even less than that) of the current devs are staying on... with how about new content, balancing and the thousand other issues are already happening with the current team. It raises serious doubts it can be more successful than now, and the best we can hope for is that BS does put it in maintenance mode and keeps it alive for a few years.

I will grant you that there has and always will be the "sky is falling" group of players. But this time is 100% different. It is understandable that there are doom bringers because it doesn't feel great this time

In SWTOR, it is quite unusual to hear of anyone who'd pay for subscriptions for  two accounts or more.  In UO, it is unusual for anyone among the remaining playerbase to have "only" two main accounts.  There are maybe 3000 or 4000  or so somewhat active UO players. I'd guess those 3-4k people  have something like 80000-12k  subscriptions active. I remember doing a poll of this on UO forums long time back. When it comes to folks who replied, having only one account was more rare than having over 5 accounts.  It is pretty crazy rly! oO This is mostly due to housing and multiboxing, Only one house per account, and people like their houses. Having at least two accounts running at once on same PC is common and allowed; it is  usual to have a supporting semi afk alt along for the ride, buffing you as you do the fighting on another character.

SWTOR players surely use cash shop at least a bit more often than UO players use theirs. ..But I'm pretty sure it doesn't even up the scales, when it comes to amount of money average player throws at the game. When it comes to totals, ofc SWTOR brings much more money in, there's at least 10x-20x  more players over here. TOR also has like 20x more people working for it, VA to worry about, higher dev costs in general.

Japanese servers btw, not Chinese. They used to be a notable portion of the playerbase in UO.

UO  is prolly extremely cheap to maintain. Among the very few devs and admins  there are some positions and job descriptions that are sadly amiss from TOR and most  all other MMOs. Afaik to this day, Ultima Online has event masters whose only job is to  do one off live events. - Tiny completely unique stories that happen once and are never retold. Few weeks from now, time for another uique event. - True live development, that.

That adds a lot more insight into UO, thank you

But I did mean Chinese unless they only support Chinese as a language. It looked like they have Chinese; English; Japanese; German; French; and Korean

It takes  only little bit of forced optimism to believe in this! Swtor and its devs within Broadsword without a doubt will  have more influence and..internal visibility   than Bioware Austin used to have within Bioware. As to where the money TOR makes goes...ig that's up to EA.  Ultima Online is a tiny game but due to....reasons, it has insane profit marigins.  It doesn't earn  EA much but it earns so much more than it costs. Average UO player spends more  money in UO than average TOR player spends in TOR. Not much of the  noney UO makes goes to Broadsword.

It's very clear that you are a fan of UO. But "reasons" is not proof of anything. And what can you show that support that UO players spend more money than TOR players? There are some whales here who spend a lot of money, and hundreds and if not thousands who probably drop small charges here and there. It's a big reason why if the store ever goes down it is fixed right away. Because that is where they get their money. And it is very hard to compare UO to TOR - they might as well be different planets. I can see that that have Chinese servers - so I could see UO pulling in money from there. They have a very different market than us and I imagine their costs for their game is far less to maintain.

  6. Sorry but Chris’ twitter does not reassure me at all. His direction and only listening to his band of nim players in their private discord is a huge reason why the game is a mess right now. When he acknowledges the fact he ruined the game for many, maybe I’ll listen more.

id rather listen to the people who actually stayed on and tried to fix the miss.

I'm glad to hear more from you Keith, I will say, I wish this had been part of yesterday's post. Would have cut down on some of the doom and gloom posting (Well, maybe not).

But, the more I hear from both current and former SWTOR Devs, and look into Broadsword, the more... optimistic I am about a potential move.

Yes I'm sure all the Devs former and Current are reaching out to YOU personally to make you feel better about this deal... please enlighten the rest of us, as we've done the research and there is not a shred of evidence that points to optimism

  8. Thank you Keith for popping back in. But sadly we cannot take your word for it. We cannot take it on BioWare's word or EA's word. The track record is not there. This feels more like damage control, I imagine a lot of cancelled subs have scared some people and they don't want to lose any money until they can't spin it no more

I am just glad the game is going to continue to live on!! I am hopeful that we see overall graphical and animation improvements down the road. With the 64-Bit Update, anything is possible at this point for the future.

Unfortunately as others have said, this was probably done to make it easier to move it to another company. I would not expect any graphical or animation improvements. We'll be fortunate enough to get another major update of any kind

There is a lot of uncertainly at this point about the future, on content, plans, unsure of a lot, but one thing that is 100 percent sure, that there transferring the devs to an existing studio to work on swtor, so I can say with certainly right now they will keep the game online.

We know some devs may transfer. I honestly wouldn't believe any of the numbers they reported. If they already have gotten 30-40+ devs to agree o move, I feel like this would have leaked sooner. I believe that number is what they are hoping to see happen but I wouldn't count on it. This all feels a lot like what happened with Anthem - promised continued support; showing off the cool new stuff; to then just cancel it all. I don't believe we'll see 7.4 released. They'll talk it up and then it will be canceled

Yea, I noticed that people discussing ways to circumvent ways not to pay the tax.  I had forgotten how some people will find ways around things.

there has and always will be people who look to get outside of the "box" and unfortunately those few will cause further changes to happen that will be detrimental to others players and not necessarily themselves

  12. You really just made another account to post this @optotiger?

Seems like you are more worried about having to pay the tax than worried about trading with your brother. And I don't believe you could get around the tax by putting an item on the GTN for 1 credit. Because it will be based off the past sales made. (Someone correct me if I'm wrong there)

And large active guilds, will yes be taxed, but if they are large as you say, it won't really hurt them that bad since they should have a steady flow of credits coming in

Regarding point #1, which I brought up, great news!

Regarding point #2, wasn't the whole brouhaha in Episode 1 Phantom Menace about the "taxation of trade routes"?  So, taxes are definitely in lore.

I don't think anyone is disputing the fact that Taxes are canon or in lore. They're point is that in this case the appropriate name for them is Fees, which I fully agree with

As a guild leader, just my last CQ send out of items/prizes would have been cost of the Tax would have over 500mil just based on the avg GTN prices, So chill out. Calling someone insane that may have different ideas/opinions sounds not civil.

    I said

To become a White name guild member you must be in the guild before the weekly CQ reset. Example you join the guild Friday you will need to stay in the guild tell Tuedays CQ reset to become a white name to fall into my example tax exempt. Your defense is just join a guild trade the high item the quit. (Join guild today, trade today, leave today) You still have the 8% tax as a grey named member. Its a lot of effort to just join a random guild (to become a white guild member) and wait a day or up to 7 days to just do a trade for a high price item.

It is good to have different ideas and opinions. But people will absolutely abuse this system. It is not a lot of effort especially if you just have a toon made for trades (and doesn't effect any of your main ones). Their solution is probably the best one they have. And hopefully the amount of tax paid will decrease as prices go down. Or you'll just need to limit how many items/prizes you give out

I don't think a Jedi can live on Dromund Kaas, or a Sith on Coruscant, so I think hard locking stronghold types to one faction or another is already a solved problem.

You just have to pay a small fee to get smuggled to the opposite faction SH. but either way it wouldn't be a problem. although I think there are better options for new SHs than Taris

Even when it means that guilds will be backstabbed when it comes to offering rewards to their members?

I know this is your 666'th post. But no need to make it an evil one 😛

LOL well that wasn't how it was planned.

hopefully they'll figure something out for Guilds. But i could see a case where new guilds are made just to circumvent any Fees

  17. 1 hour ago, Balameb said:

I'm sure there could be some exceptions in place that could not be abused that much. I mean, for example if you make it so anything below 5M credits (or item value) does not pays fees in P2P/Mail then i don't see much room for abuse. The amount of time required to make so many small transactions.

There have already been people talking about this and trying to find a way to get around it. So there is absolutely groups of people who would abuse this. It's much better just to cover everything

Mind explaining what exploits you've seen?

If he has seen any actual exploits, it's best not to ask or share them on the forums. While I'm sure there is a small population of players who do love to "cheat" I don't think it is very common. I haven't seen any in months

Easily done just look at the steam numbers before the R4 issues. According to polls and reports from EA, steam is the most widely used launcher amoung players. August 2021 steam was clearing 21k+ daily users ,less then a  year later when 7.0 was announced during July 2021 there was only 10k daily users because people were disgruntled that the operation was delayed even further past the 7.0 launch delay. Fast forward to February 2022 when 7.0 and obviously there was an increase for when people came back to check it out and it was at 19k daily. 6 months later it had dropped to an all time low of 6k daily users and didn't get back up to 10k until last month. Like I said casual players are like goldfish.

When steam first launched I would agree that many players switched over. But once Bioware updated their own launcher (and got rid of BitRaider) it was actually faster and I know many players stopped using Steam. So Steam does not give us the most accurate of calculations
