  1. I can't continue story line with that point too. Can't do Forget Alliances Part 2 because I've got information that I have more same FP's with different difficulty and I have to choose one. I was trying to abandon this FP and all other, and even Shadow of Revan as well, and nothing helps. Reseting active phases doesn't help too. I can't enter Forget Alliance Part 2, though I did without any problem all earlier quests and solo FP's, part 1 for example. It's my second char with which I want to do storyline again. But now I'm stuck. It's really frustrating, and I don't understand why I can't continue story. Does it mean that I will not do story on Rishii, Yavin and Ziost? It's really sad because I wanted to make my second char as main. My friend does all those story lines from Shadow of Revan with all his characters and he doesn't have any problem.

Maybe a reason is that I did with this char this FP as tactical one before? Any advice how can I have fixed my issue?

You can actually skip the Forged Alliances series and continue the story by going directly to Rishii and speaking to the bird NPC.

  2. I had this same problem. I was able to solo Assault on Tython but I couldn't solo Korriban Incursions. It seems like it glitches if you already have the [Tactical] flashpoint mission for the mission that you are trying to solo. So I abandoned the whole quest chain. BIG MISTAKE! You an only solo these flashpoints once and ONLY ONCE. I then abandoned all [Tactical] flashpoint missions that I had. I then had to find someone willing to help group with me to complete Assault on Tython. Once I did this I was able to solo Korriban Incursions and the one after it.
  3. Getting an SSD will help but it depends on the SATA III controller on your board. Mine sucks so my load times are slower than most SSD owners. My bro has an SSD and his load times are faster than mine but he's using an Intel board and I'm using an AMD board. He has an Nvidia GTX 550Ti and I have a 570. My load times are between 20-45 seconds and his are 10-30 seconds. A recent benchmark revealed that my SSD + Memory Controller combo was yielding ~310mb/s on a Marvell SATA controller.
  4. I have an idea, How about adding personal meters that one can only see once the instanced event is over? That way you can see how you did once it's all over with and you can then choose to share this information at your own discretion. Make it a feature that you have to enable as well. Parsers are ok but they don't show critical information such as absorbs from shields and what not.
  5. Hello Bioware,

I have a question. Will we be seeing the current space missions revamped to support multiple players simultaneously (and potentially off rails)? If something like this comes out in the future in addition to the PVP my head will go not only to the roof (where it is now with the current announcement) but through it and beyond!

  6. It seems as though Bioware/EA are really making a push for subs with the latest changes and the ad blitz. I don't mind them giving Makeb away for free if it brings more people into the fold, but such a bold and potentially desperate move makes me worry about their financial prospects. With GTA5 on the horizon and FFXIV pulling subs from every MMO, I believe my concerns are reasonably founded. Then again maybe I'm just paranoid.
  7. Alright, I've been fairly critical of BW/EA, and this post will be no different, but their position on this is not indefensible (albeit poorly handled as is consistent with their dealings with the player base).

You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

Here's the problem. They say that Subscribers that have RotHC already will get a title "as our [bW/EA] appreciation for the purchase" and that's cool. They didn't have to do anything but it's a nice gesture. But then they go on to say that those that bought it within the last month "will be granted 1050 Bonus Cartel Coins in appreciation for their recent purchase of Rise of the Hutt Cartel" which is not what they mean. When I read that I knew immediately that there was going to be an outcry of how unfair the Veteran and "most loyal" players are being treated. That the appreciation was not equal and that the "late comers" were more valued. Hence my original post to this thread.

The truth, as has been pointed out by others, is that they are going to be giving away a product tomorrow for free that they have sold to people as recently as yesterday (possibly today) and they HAVE to reimburse them. It's not appreciation at all, it's a necessity. They called it "appreciation" to seem magnanimous and generous but the truth is they had no choice it was either the cartel coins or refund the money itself (and giving back the money would show up on the books and is a bad precedent as well).

So that group was going to get their CC no matter what and the rest were going to get a title and nothing more. The problem was, yet again, how they communicated the message. So if that was the problem what was the solution? For starters, they need to work on their timing. Consider the cause and effect of telling us when they did.

    • They waited until 2 days before it goes into effect to tell the community
    • Waiting until then to announce this put them in the position of having to reimburse those that bought RotHC recently since they didn't know it was going to be free so soon.
    • That reimbursement was framed as appreciation.
    • That appreciation seemed inequitable to some who were getting a seemingly lesser form of appreciation.
    • Vocal forum users express their frustrations, others defend the move, and cycle of negative posts both for and against the decision and the general treatment of the player base

100% predictable outcome. Given everything that BW/EA has dealt with from our community they had to see this was what would happen. Maybe they did and decided to weather it, I don't know, but what I do know is it didn't have to be that way. Here's how I believe they should have handled it. First, you make your announcement on July 12th so that there is a 2 month lead time before the change takes effect. Then you make the following announcement.

Beginning September 12, 2013, active Subscribers will receive the first Digital Expansion: Rise of the Hutt Cartel free of charge as a newly added benefit to the Subscriber Rewards Program! Rise of the Hutt Cartel offers the breathtaking planet of Makeb, five new levels of story-driven missions increasing the level cap to 55, and exciting technology devices which unlock valuable rewards.

Additionally, players who have already purchased Rise of the Hutt Cartel and are an active Subscriber as of August 12 at 4:00AM PDT / 11:00AM GMT will receive a new title, “The Risen,” via in-game mail on or before September 25, 2013 as our appreciation for the purchase.

Finally, RotHC will no longer be available for direct purchase to those with an active subscription after August 12 at 4:00AM PDT / 11:00AM GMT. Instead Subscribers who have not purchased Rise of the Hutt Cartel by then will automatically unlock RotHC when they purchase 1050 Bonus Cartel Coins or more from the in-game store. F2P players can continue to purchase the subscription as they always have if they so choose.

What this does is gives people clearly described options and time to make their decision. You have RotHC already, you get a title. You don't have it? Well you can wait for it to go free, OR you can buy it prior to August 12th and get the title, OR you can wait until August 12th and buy some cartel coins and get it for free in advance of it being free for everyone (essentially getting a month early access on it being free). Which is basically the same thing what we have now but it's not a reimbursement or appreciation. No hurt feelings, no outrage.

Obviously this doesn't help them now but I hope they consider this when making future decisions. They need to choose their words more carefully and make announcements well in advance of the changes.

Note this for the future BW/EA. With all the newer games coming out I understand that you want to give subscribers more people to play end-game content with but the way you went about it was all wrong. How could you not expect blow-back? This will draw subscribers away from this game and onto those very games you are trying to dissuade them from.

  8. Lockouts are just artificial content extenders. It's a lazy trend that needs to stop in MMOs. Remove lockouts but can't start them over till you clear the Op 100%. That way you can't just farm the 1st boss. They also need to seperate HM NiM lockouts. They should at least let us run the content but be locked out of loot and comms.

I wholly agree. Those 2 lockouts need to be separate! If you're gonna copy other MMO's at least do it better!

  9. i would be completely fine with changing it so that lockouts just prevented me from looting a particular chest

sometimes a friend will ask if i can help out, and i have to say 'well, i've got locks'

lotro implemented a system recently. i'm not entirely sure how i feel about it, but it has its pros and cons.

but the loot was given out automatically to each person (like it was in the beginning of this game) and it's all BoE, but the loot tables are a bit more random, and there's no guarantee that you'll even get anything.

but there are no lockouts whatsoever on anything. so it basically encourages more farming.

i'm not sure if such a system can really work on swtor because of the way they use currency to buy end-game gear, but i would still like to be able to help out a friend even if all of my characters are locked out.

That is exactly what I want to promote, helping other people out. I'm sure Bioware can tweek this idea into a working solution.

  10. it would defeat the purpose of gearing up then since you could literally farm the first couple bosses gear everyone up from those bosses and do the rest of the instance like normal since i doubt most guilds would farm past the first 3-4 bosses. it would just make it even easier then it currently is to gear up

Well you could limit it to only 1 or 2 reruns per week. Should add that on my post thanks.

  11. I believe this will strengthen the community as a whole as well as bonds within guilds. There are so many pugs who quit Operations after doing the weekly OPS missions, subsequently preventing me from completing these OPS unless 7-15 other people happen to be on the same boat as I am. It would be perfect if I could finish these OPS as well as help out a guildie. I don't care about the loot, I just want to cultivate an environment consisting of people helping one another instead of the selfishness that the current model promotes.

Guilds have schedules they set up but sometimes people don't show up because life gets in the way. The best thing to do at this point is to help other guildies as well as new players, not to mention ourselves with the proposed change. It's a win/win situation! This small change will promote an environment of brotherhood and encourage others who want to build stronger guilds to do the same.

UPDATE: One should either be allowed to only rerun an OPS 1 to 2 times per week to prevent gear farming or be locked out of gear rolls completely.

  12. I wholly agree. Dailies are more like homework than anything fun. We need more randomness in this game. We need events that occur every 15 minutes to an hour. We need content that doesn't require a traditional MMO setup (Tank, Heal, DPS) to decrease queue/wait times when there's a lack of a class available. We need more dangerous and uncharted areas to explorer to find things. We also need adds that do more than just stand around in groups of 3. If Bioware does any (hopefully all) of these things they will have my sub for at least 7 years.
