  1. Yeah, I remember. It has always been flawed from day one with the engine they chose. I'm just wondering if there's any way to revive the game. Otherwise, it will just subsist the way it is until they have something to replace it. Or their investment in the server hardware becomes so old that they can't replace parts. I enjoy the world and the era and think they might still have something to build upon. If not, I'm an old dude will survive. There's more to life than gaming.
  2. No not remake the entire game. Why not create the new content on a new engine and only the new content. Unless there's a limitation when you launch the game that it isn't able to jump back and forth between the older engine and the newer engine. If that's not possible. And they don't want to make an investment in upgrading the infrastructure. Then just sunset the game. Turn off the lights. People will still live.
  3. Bioware needs to recognize that The Old Republic Era is a great era and start to put life back into the game. You can get a lot more mileage out of this game with great new stories. Build up the staff. Replace the aging hardware it's running on. Fix or replace the outdated engine it's running on. This expansion was supposed to be a 10-year anniversary celebration for the game. It was a dud. You might want to consider rolling the UI changes back and leave the little bit of story you gave players. How about a change in leadership for the project? Stop relying on the in-game store and get back to the subscribers? It's actually a pretty good game that can do really well if properly supported. Give the veteran staff that has been on the project since the beginning a reason to enjoy working on a Star Wars game again instead of it being 'just a paycheck' to pay the mortgage. It's Star Wars! If a new movie comes out, or a Disney Plus show on Legends of the Old Republic the game will be in high demand. If the current game is not supported on the newer engines out there then create the new content on the new engine with a way to port back and forth. If you're going to treat the game like this garbage just released then you may as well give it some dignity and just turn the power off on the environment and throw the staff on other projects.
  4. Good points! I agree with Commander. Hope to see another world to explore, new dailies, new OP's, new role specific long flashpoints. I'm also hoping that they design the flashpoints to that people just can't go around all the trash to get to the next boss. And make the trash worth while in fighting with unique loot drops. Also with loot drops there should be some means that you can only roll on it if the current toon needs that piece of gear and in the same roll dialog box that you can select to roll for your comps. So if no toon needs it for the toon actively in the fight that it then rolls for the those who've selected the secondary option to roll for a comp. Crafting needs some work too to make it more interesting for the next level cap increase.
  5. Look at the info in the Producers Roadmap to Galactic Strongholds. Basically it's saying stay subscribed and will give you little treats. It's annoying actually to see this. So what end game content will come with Galactic Strongholds? Or do we just do the same crap and hope for furniture and stuff to drop to put in these spaces to do what? Stare at? Feed peoples obsession with collecting useless crap? Gameplay in an mmo is playing roles in PVE or PVP content. Commit to telling us what that is going to be? What OP's and real flashpoints are coming in that update or will there be none? May 4th remains the Subscriber deadline for Bonus Cartel Coins Grant to the sweet tune of 1000 Cartel Coins! 6. Looks like they want to gear toons up to handle the OP's and FP's so they don't have to grind for gear. Not sure how I feel about that. So... you have a lot more toons running around with end game gear with nothing else to work for? And more of us in the same boat?
  7. Personally I think they sunk a lot of money into the game to build the framework they have today. They lost a lot of subscriptions early on. They saved the game by going f2p. Makeb was a decent expansion but I think they should have had some kind of OP or FP to go along with that story. The release of Galactic Star Fighter was fun. But two maps? Two maps? That kept me entertained for about three weeks and then it got extremely boring for me. I was happy when they released DF and DP? But NIM mode should have been released at the same time they were originally released not sold later on as something new because sorry Bioware it isn't and you may be able to get away with that with kids but not us older folk. Right now it appears to me that they keep dangling that elusive carrot out there in the future. Some day something big is gonna be released just you wait. But it's gonna be great and it's gonna be big. Just keep subscribing because we are going to release little events while you wait and give out free cartel coins for stuff you may want to buy on the CM. Give out free pets etc. I think they don't want to put much of a real budget towards the game and develop some serious content. They're going to build up excitement and expectations to string people along for what probably will amount to a lack luster expansion. What I would like to see is for them to commit to letting us know some basic details about what exactly is going to be in that next expansion. How many OP's how many non-strategic fp's if any. That there will be a full blown planet to explore? Dailies to run. Stop saying oh something big is coming just you wait. Because up to this point there hasn't been serious content since Makeb was released. If they aren't going to create new OP's until this 3.0 expansion which will be released when? At the end of the year? That means there hasn't been new operations for about a year. NIM is not new. It is a new mechanic here or there and a HP increase on the bosses and trash.
  8. I'm sure they are they have a business to run and they are probably thinking about other IP's to release. And as long as they have people who are willing to go the cartel market route and play the short strategic flashpoints that's great for them. I'm happy to be in the minority that still loves long flashpoints where I heal through the entire thing. Or tank through it . Or dps through it because I chose the role. DPS were probably unhappy with long queue times therefore Bioware decided this was the way they want to go and developing, drawing, doing the voice over for these is cheaper and easier to produce with the size staff they have to do it. So enjoy it. I may return when I see something that trips my trigger. But I just dropped my sub and can f2p at will. Not much for me to enjoy since I've done 'everything' there is to offer a billion times over the past two years of playing. As well as leveled every toon out there and played in multiple hard core raiding guilds and done the current NIM OP's. I just have no desire to jump into DF or DP or anything else for that matter.
  9. I agree. Wrong direction. If they don't do role specific fp's. I like long role specific fp's. I don't enjoy well if you want to heal then heal or tank then tank. That's just bs to me. Some people are fine with it. I don't like blasting through all the stuff in about 15 -20 min. Then they're just milking new customers through the cartel market crap. There goes my sub. I'll wait for the next Star Wars game to come out. Or they do release something good here. If I want a Star Wars fix I'll just read more novels.
  10. Yeah there is no way I can run any of the current op's or flashpoints. Most of the flash points have been around since launch with the exception of a few and those strategic things they're putting to advance story and so that dps don't have long queue times. I'm looking for brand new OP's and brand new role specific non-strategic flashpoints. Not NIM versions of stuff I've been running for over six months. For someone like me who has played since launch and has pretty most most toons leveled four in top level gear. I suppose its time to quit playing until they provide some seriously new content. Getting some big apartments where you can put stuff is great and all but not if I have to run the same flashpoints and OP's. Adding a few mechanics and increasing the health points of the bosses in the same OP's does not equal new, fresh, and exciting. The game was fun and will be again once they do that. For now it's fresh and fun for new players.
  11. I'd like to know if it's accurate. And how much reused 'stuff' rather than new content. It's like they put the framework out there and just keep making minor tweaks to stuff that already exists and calling it new. And adding crap to the cartel market. That's fine for people that have been playing for the past 6 months to a year because it's still fresh to them. But those of us that enjoy Star Wars and this game are looking for more content not rehashed stuff over and over and over again. It appears that your giving up on the game and not spending giving it a budget for serious content.
  12. Is Bioware ever going to give New Operations and Full Flashpoints that are role specific and long? I just read somewhere that they aren't planning to add OP's and Flashpoints in the 2.9 patch. Is the budget hurting that they can't add dev staff to write new story? I personally don't care about NIM mode OP's that's only good if you are in a guild that runs them on specific nights etc. Story Mode and Hard Mode is all I really care about. And I've run the same OP's and FP's forever. Seeing the same stuff is old. And most of the games out there don't do it for me. I have every toon and class leveled. When do we get some seriously good gaming content for us players that have been around for a long time? For new players all this stuff is relatively new. Did they decide they want to stop giving a budget for this game or something? We get some nice residences. Okay that's cool some stuff to put in them. But what are we just going sit and stare at our screens and move toons around an open space?
  13. I hope so. They did say something big was coming in June the size of Makeb. It just keeps feeling like they're saying the big patch expansion is just over the horizon. Just be patient. In the mean time we'll just give you a few little things all the while it's always little things and the major expansion never arrives.
  14. Now that's casual. I have a dozen or more toons across both factions in all roles. About 4 (two on each side) that I enjoy playing the most in all 78 gear. And I've been playing since launch. I don't play as hardcore as I was playing until they provide a couple new OP's to work on and new full length role based fp's.
  15. The did give us more content and that's great. For someone like myself who doesn't like pvp and only plays pve content and will not run older instances because I've been through them on both factions a zillion times and I've done all the OP's a zillion times on all hardness levels as tank, dps, and heals. These two little non-role specific flash points are nice maybe the first few times you run through them. But there's no meat to them. Great the start of a new story. We have to wait two more months until they give us bigger content. Hopefully that comes fully loaded with full flash points that 'are' specifically for your class/roll, OP's, a planet or somethings to explore with new dailies. Yeah it's a lot of work but the last expansion was Makeb. Hopefully they have a dedicated design team and development staff with artists, vo, music, writers to do that since that release. People that really like MMO's stick around for a long time. This feels like it's more for the casual player to new players that come on board verse those that run in guilds and run OP's weekly. If I stop playing for a month or two and wait for the new content then you get somewhat rusty with you toons. Then you have guildies complaining that your Torparse or Parsec scores dont' cut it.
  16. Well that's you guys and I'm glad you guys are enjoying yourselves. Having played MMO's on a hardcore level for almost a decade. I personally want more real content. I think that all modes of an Operations should be there when it's released. Not just add it and call it new content because to me new content is just that new with additional story for a story based game. Not just adding a mechanic to each boss in the instance and increasing it's health so the fight last longer and calling it new. It's not new because I've ran through the instance a gazillion times. (I do have over a dozen toons on both factions so I can pick and choose just what I feel like playing.) Now for a more casual player who maybe just runs an OP's once a week on a toon or two they're happy. I can't run existing flash points in this game any longer and haven't for about six months. Because they're just too boring at this point. Having come from WOW when it was fresh and cool, they're raids were harder so you couldn't learn them and get everyone doing the dance in a single evening. You could save the instance at a point until a certain time and everyone came back and continued where you left off. They also provided instances on a regular bases. But it's an old game for me now and I wouldn't go back to play it.
  17. That's 'a' solution for playing roles but it's so easy to just blast through the content with toons that are in all 78 gear. And if you've read the tread above you have to agree that the story is somewhat lacking. No other vo talent used for npc's to say anything. There should have been some capital ships bombing the ground in the sky not just fighting each other. For me the tactical flashpoints just feel too short and we just run in and zerg everything. Although I do like that they seem to have created the maps in a way that you don't just bypass all the trash on your way to the bosses. I always hated that in the orignal flashpoints if you pugged them.
  18. First lets get this out of the way I am a fanboy. I like Star Wars and the entire EU. I agree with the original post. And I really don't like tactical flashpoints. I play roles because I like playing them. I want to heal, tank, or dps. And to create these short little tactical flashpoints so that everyone dps's just get short queue times for me and what I like sucks. Plain and simple! I have played this for two years. Are the people who keep defending it and saying oh content is coming just be patient over and over mostly people who have just started the game within the last few months to a year? This big story arc that's coming in June better hold up to the EU and to larger than life story telling along with 'real flashpoints' and more 'operations' in June. Not spread out over the the rest of the year. Hire more artists, more coders, more vo talent. Make sure they all know the EU lore for this time period. Stop reskinning the same stuff over and over. It just feels like they're nursing the game a long to me. The problem is nothing else how there MMO wise is appealing to me I've played them all.
  19. I'd be happy without class story although it would be nice. I want a longer story arc and that's coming Just have to be patient. I'd like more new fresh events to play But lots of flash points, more OP's and a planet or two to increase the level cap on with fresh dailies. They could hire short term developers to create that with project managers to oversea each project. And leave once the dev work is done rather than full time permanent employees. Just a thought...
  20. Has anyone added up the stat bonuses for each class? And what are the totals? I just curious if they make any 'real' difference for someone like me running HM OP's. And I mean significant not just a minor increase in torparse numbers.
  21. Oh yeah the stat bonuses if you choose to do them are per character. Not all the datachrons help a particular class. So unless you really have to have that title on particular toons you really only have to get the datachrons specific to the class. So it's not really all that bad. The lore objects are just things you read. So if someone is interested in getting all of them and reading them just get them on one toon. It should show up though for all toons in the legacy since its just something you read. If you don't get 'any' datachrons I'd suggest getting the plus 10 all stats on the fleet. That one is worth it.
  22. I may agree with you in part on the Datachrons as you don't have to get all of them for the stat bonuses only the ones you need for that particular characters increase in stats. However, most of my OP's toons don'ts have them and it doesn't really hurt them in anyway. Their torparse numbers in dps, hps or threat on my tank are all excellent. So I can I it isn't necessary to go through all the trouble to get them. If you want the Datachron Master title you'll need to get them all. Since the Lore Objects don't add anything to the character I'm still going to say getting them on one toon is good enough. I like the Lore personally. Again... something you really have to have in the game for it to be enjoyable? No. Especially if you read EU Novels you really don't.
  23. I work and run Operations about four nights out of my week. Have three nights where I am committed outside of the game. And spend family time on Saturday and Sunday afternoon while teaching Sunday School on Sunday morning after Church. And work out an hour in the morning and an hour in the evening so that I don't become a big ol' blob sitting enjoying a game. I doubt asking this has anything to do with my being lazy or anyone else's. And doing all of those on a dozen characters would not be fun. And playing the game is suppose to be fun not a job.
  24. I agree. The possibilities are endless with this IP. Funds aren't unlimited. But they should be stable and have generated enough revenue through the Cartel Market and Subs to build a major expansion. I wonder now that Disney has control how that is going to effect this game if any? They are looking at solidifying cannon in the EU. I wonder if that is holding back an expansion or if they have no plans on expanding the game at all. They could just deliver small amounts of content and depend on new players coming into the game and not care at the folks who've played since launch. It's just very frustrating to not know what what their plans are for the game.
