  1. Well I haven't run this but here is my take. 1) If you kill the adds, no wipe, no problem 2) If you ignore the adds, sometimes they don't aggro, but sometimes they do, killing healers and causing a wipe So why not just kill the adds and not worry about it? Sure, you can hope in a PUG you've got DPS smart enough to react if they aggro, but since when is hoping you're with smart people in a PUG a good policy? Better to just play it safe.
  2. I have little in the way of advice to offer you, but I like the fact that you base your playstyle off of subjective cool intangibles. Min/maxing is a game unto itself, but I get a little tired of the guys always riding people with a different playstyle about it.
  3. That is all very helpful information, thank you.
  4. This is my first toon I'll be getting to 55 and wanted some explanation for gearing as a tank. Currently 47 and getting about 2-3 levels a day. Since I've been grinding xp on missions and such, I've focused more on crit, power, etc as Doc is my companion of choice. But since I'll be tanking more FP's and Ops soon can someone please tell me more about how def, absorbtion, shielding works? What pieces of gear I should focus on and whatnot? I will have about 1.5-2 million credits to gear at the GTN, and figure I'll work for the upgrades from there. I'm sure this topic has been covered before so any advice or links to threads already covering this would be appreciated, thanks!
  5. Actually to OP, the question of do you want to tank or DPS is a valid one, even in PvP. Guardians will typically hang back and protect guys, or run the ball. Its a different style of gameplay and comes down to what you enjoy in the game. PvP "tanking" isn't like tanking PvE, but you are still basically running interference for the healers and DPS. Some people like that, other don't. I think thats what the poster was trying to say. I like Guardian myself. But it is hard, and I have miles to go before I'll be leveling out skill wise. But thats how I like it.
  6. Well the SW universe makes a lot of assumptions. In this case the assumption is that technology has plateau'd. There are very few discoveries, just changes in the way they use the knowledge they have. The Death Star wasn't breakthru in technology so much as it was a breakthru in the industrial capacity and desire to build something Moon Sized that could blow up a planet. Presumably no one had really wanted to do that before. And considering the total lifespan of both projects I can see why. Its fantasy, enjoy the assumptions and try not to compare it to how far we've come in the last few hundred years. Who knows, maybe there is a tech level where we really can't ring much more out of how much we can affect the world around us and it looks a lot like the Star Wars universe
  7. Seriously, look what a few years in Africa did to Angelina Jolie She's still hot, but not getting a back to the top of any Maxim lists again.
  8. I think that sums it up beautifully.
  9. Hey guys, I just got this game 2 days ago. I was trying to find a list of the power and talents for the various classes. Am I missing one on this site or is there another solid info site for n00bz such as myself?
  10. Darth Maul was a ******. Right up until he died to a move that somehow took him by surprise even though he'd been handling 2 jedi solo for the previous 5 minutes. I think someone hit the nail on the head in a previous post, Maul died because Lucas couldn't come up with a better plotline.
  11. Lotta good points. I just started by every game I play is basically compared to EQ. That game was a serious grind, too serious actually, but since it was the first MMO I played my perspective allowed me to get through it. Still, end game is really tough to get right. I don't have much expectations for Bioware getting it right out of the gate but what the hell, its Star Wars! They had my $60 as soon as I had time to get it. Lets hope they make enough to recoup the $200m dev costs and can get some talent that knows how to tune end game MMO's. Sounds like this game at present is far to easy for the hardcore players, and thats a shame. Fortunately I'm not one of them anymore, so this will work for me.
