OP is 110% right. Any one arguing that ranged "need" autocast are obviously either new at MMOs or incapable of thinking on the fly. In other words, needing all the help they can get to carry them rather than their actual skill. In a game such as this, a lesser skilled player should ALWAYS lose against a better player no matter the class. The only time they should win is when they VASTLY out gear them. Anyone who is trying to state that a melee player is bad who:- 1 - Needs to first get into range 2 - Needs to then deal with any instant knock backs and/or CC 3 - Interrupt any ability And in the case of the marauder (Can't speak for other melee) 4 - Build up their rage to actually do anything 5 - Snare the target 6 - 90% of the time in this game get back into range yet again thanks to the insane amount of stuns/knockbacks/CC or whatever 7 - Deal with absolute terrible delays on abilities (effecting melee much more, since hitting that snare 4-5 times and only on the 6th time actually snaring will make FAR MORE difference since hey, now they need to....get back into range) Compared to range... 1 - Use a PvE rotation with abilities auto facing, deal as much and in a lot of cases MORE damage...and especially at the start since they can unload without having to rack up rage like the marauder, while still being able to take as much damage as the melee (who lost half their health going through steps 1 - 5) and with half the classes able to heal themselves (still producing as much dps as a non-healer) while being able to do it all with... ONE HAND. so...anyone actually trying to state the melee is bad (what's even more laughable, some trying to state it's an exploit) while the ranged is what..."pro" ? Well, I don't have much to say to someone like that since their lack of experience and rose tinted goggles don't really understand the real issues. That, or they just don't want to and want it easy for them so they can actually get a sense of skill (which is sad really, because I guarantee most melee or good players would never respect someone getting an easy kill, so it's only for self satisfaction) Now, I am a very long veteran to MMO's (and all games really) I've played Semi pro (Old game, semi being a clan I lead asked to be sponsored, but we refused) and I know what I am doing, more so than 90% of the players. I don't assume to be the best player around, but I do know for a fact I have enough knowledge to speak for both sides of the fence. Also, one can "try" (key word being exactly that, try...though it will fail) that I am just one of these "bad" melee. Thing is, if I am a bad player, what does that say when my lower level ranged class can not only out damage my melee, but produce far more medals at an alarming rate, less deaths, more kills and generally have it 10x easier...after all, you want to say I'm a bad player right?...right? So, what does that make ranged then if I can do that. Fact is, playing melee, especially in this game takes a ton more skill than ranged does, while not being nearly as rewarding and in some cases, you'll come off a lot worse even by out playing a back peddling keyboard turner. So to all those trying to state how melee running through someone makes them bad Do try to explain how autofacing someone while being able to press 123 with a single hand is...skill. I'd like to hear a well thought out and constructive argument to that.

After watching you run for 40 seconds with a few ranged pounding on you without barely touching your HP yet you use very little abilities, not even facing them and just strolling away to your buddy, I lol'd, sighed and turned off. It's funny because a class who rotates all their defensive abilities, LoS, runs rings around them would die 3x faster than that against one person..let alone numerous. And you wonder why people say sorcs are OP? Yeah...in before the million FoTMs "trying" to claim otherwise. Oh well, have fun while it lasts.

Freaking DUMB thing to say. When I'm running rings around someone and their just BACKPEDDLING their way to victory like oh so many ranged in this, there's a problem. Especially when I rotate every defensive cooldown, interrupt every heal/major cast and break their cast from running around/through them (as they continue to backpeddle snared). It's a disgusting sight and utterly embarrassing to see someone do it. It's so ezmode while spamming a couple OP abilities without any decent rotation. But hey, idiots will always try to deny their own class isn't OP just to try and avoid the nerfback, only, it won't and it just makes them look desperate. Never EVER take ANYTHING serious about what someone says about their own class. There is a reason certain classes and ONLY certain classes keep getting brought up. Don't even think about trying to kid yourself it's because you're actually skilled and every other class isn't.

Well yeah? When a person plays a PURE dps and is unable to do anything but dps, you would think that they'd like to, you know...do dps! But when a tank or healer can do the same DPS...in some cases more, WHILE providing the utility, while providing the debuffs...snares/stuns/roots etc etc Then playing a pure DPS defeats the whole point other than to have fun...which is hard to do when you, as a DPS player, have to try harder to actually do your roll as good, while being incapable of doing the other stuff. It has NOTHING to do with the skill of a player. If you have an equal skilled/geared DPS who can do nothing but DPS against a equal skilled healer, who can do the same damn DPS with the same utility while being able to support themselves, while being able to get into Heroics/FP/Premades/Raids whatever faster, then tell me, what is the point of a pure DPS? No, not fun, I've already covered that. It's not fun waiting around for a group x2-x5 times as long, it's not as fun seeing whatever class have the same or more damage, getting more medals or whatever. It's just frustrating. P.S Im happy with my DPS but I'm stating a proper point.

Yup, it's idiots trying to "claim" that their the least played class as though their some sort of special snowflake, yet, strangely, completely incapable of backing up their "facts" Well, I did a little digging, the closest I could find since I don't think it's actually been released who is most popular etc, is this (and by all means this is NOT 100% fact) http://www.swtorstrategies.com/2011/08/amateur-statistical-analysis.html But, it does say this, those that keep claiming smuggler is the least played class are talking right out of their rear end. It hurts melees so much more than ranged. Ranged already have a huge advantage in this game. Are there even diminishing returns? I was incapacitated for so long earlier. I got sapped while someone capped the door and I couldn't do a damn thing about it, 8 seconds later, it was capped, then I got stunned and around 10-11 seconds later, I was dead without being able to do a thing other than watch them cap and kill me after (Before anyone is actually THAT idiotic to even think it, no, trinket whatever was on cooldown. I'm sick of spamming my snare over and over and them not getting slowed, checking my rage and I've got more than enough. Get knockbacked, I charge and get knocked back again, without snaring them even though I'm spamming the button over and over. I'm sick of ravage never being able to finish, I'm sick of my interrupt never going off until they've finished the cast even though I press it and press it and watch as it continues to cast for a couple seconds. I'm sick of trying to pass the ball and it never leaving my hands, I'm sick of LoS never working and I'm sick of certain classes just eating through me despite hitting every defensive cooldown. I've tried using them all at once, I've tried rotating them, doesn't make a difference, just get eaten through regardless. The delay is the biggest cause to most of this. I even got stunned on the fire in huttball, I broke it with trinket (before fire came) and I was still stunned and yet, trinket on cooldown. I had the ball JUST about to score. Thanks I've force charged at someone capping the door to the last room and landed ...in space. They capped the door, and I had to sit there in space, unable to do jack all and watch us lose something which we should have won. Every single warzone seems catered to range as well, with little LoS actually working (Yet strange when Im behind something clearly unable to be seen yet being shot over and over, my force jump can't find it's target when their right in front of me just above ..with clear vision. Many times I've jumped to the target and I end up to a place where they wasn't...and aren't (seems to only happen in huttball though) Also, I'm spamming my button (Am quite capable of over 300 APM in spamming (key word, spamming) in starcraft at least) yet I always seem to get jumped first. I've tried delay on 0.5 / 0.25 and I always keep it on 0 but it seems to make no difference. Well it's better without the queue imo but not good enough. This is a range fest and I hate it, I notice the delay so much more as melee than I do my ranged class. I don't think maras are as bad as many claim but seriously, some stuff is just so freaking BS and I despise losing through dumb mechanics or bugs, especially in favour to a lesser skilled player (Not saying everyone is, but alot are) I respect losing when it's my fault and I respect the player for beating me (Unless it's a joke of a class) but this game seems more to do with luck. It's a shame because I love it otherwise.

No, not at all. Today, being shot at, I run behind the whole building by the west turret (NOT the turret but continue behind it), completely out of sight. Still getting shot. Behind a pillar, not breaking channeled ability, still being followed up with more casts. This happens all the time, I know very well how to LoS things, if you don't see it happening, then it's one of 4 things. You don't play much PvP. You play a ranged class. You've simply not experienced it. You don't even try to LoS and just try whacking things until you die. Pick one. Because quite frankly, when I'm behind a 50 foot high 40 foot wide solid metal building, and still being hit from freaking miles away, then yeah, it's broke.

YOU do not define how an MMO works. YOU do not speak for me, for him, for her or for ANYONE else. An MMO is made by the person or persons. Nothing more, nothing less. Considering this is how MMOs have worked previously, almost all of them, and a huge part as to why they are so popular, YOU don't get to decide how it "should" be. Once again, if you don't like it, then play something else. Like an FPS, where there is no grinding (well, actually, since grinding is such a popular thing, that's also becoming the way for FPS, take BF:3 / COD etc. You got CS though.

I can't agree in the slightest, I am sick of games where everyone can use everything just like that. I like the fact YOU work for something so YOU get the advantage. I'm not max in my profs but I will be ofc, I'm Arch/TH and artifice. Sure I can sell my stuff, but I do hope I have some items that are only for me. It makes picking a profession a choice then rather than a money maker. I mean, you chose your class right? Should we scrap all classes and only have one with everything? Nah, can't agree at all.

A few of these were wrong for me, I'm not sure if it's because I'm dark and it effected answers later on on a different person, but I don't think so. I didn't record them though, I do remember 3..I think, that were wrong, perhaps more (NOT on the ones where I chose a kill). For example, I remember on the very last one I started with 3 rather than random. Then the next option was wrong of yours. Overall though, nice guide. Haven't done any group stuff so never though about going there solo, was quite a fun place.

Do you think you're special? It's extremely easy if someone wants to. 50 hours is actually quite a lot. If you wanted to powerhouse through it you could do it in much less, personally that's not enjoyable since you miss stories and the actual fun of leveling up and I purposely try to take my time and enjoy it. However, in many mmos once I've seen it all, I do just that and power through. You are not special, you are not even clever or anything above average in your so called feat you decided to come to the forums and brag about. How? There's a GCD. I rolled rep, soon as I got on the server I saw little kiddies saying things with LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL at the end of everything, the word noob being spammed and basic kiddicrap within 2 minutes of being in the game for the first time. Not one person, but the chat was flooded with it. I thought sod this, if this factions going to be full with little brats like this, I expect all they will do is whine all day. I rerolled emp and man, what a difference. Polite people directing others where to go, helpful people and a decent chat. My first warzone, I see rep kiddies spitting on others all over. Not seen it once from Emp. Come to the forums, what do I see? Rep whining over silly little things. I guarantee there's stuff on emp where their in the same boat, but they decide to get on with the game rather than throw their toys out the pram and cry. If there wasn't such a thing as GCDs, server delay, client delay and what not, then there might be an issue. If you wasn't so biased and thought everything revolved around you and how it's "only" your side that has certain issues, then there might be an issue. But thankfully, both aren't the case so there isn't. Period. Nuff said.
